Sony, why no manual?

Sony, why no manual for the XBR65X930C?  I would prefer a printed manual but I would take an on-line one. The brief descriptions that you presently provide about installing the television just don't cut it. There are a multitude of options--a good thing--but without the explanation provided by a manual as you have provided in the past, many of them are unintelligible to persons such as myself with a big appreciation for your outstanding television products but with little technical apptituide and equally, little patience. So, Sony, why no manual?

Hi there, Drbeqg! Here are all the Manuals for the Sony XBR65X930C (including the reference guide): http://esupport.sony.com/US/p/model-home.pl?mdl=XBR65X930C&template_id=1&region_id=1&tab=manuals#/manualsTab Best regards,

You will not find it, Mike. You posted this thread as a discussion, not a question, so there is no "This solved my Problem".  Theer two different kind of threads - discussions and question. You can award points only for questions.
I just tried to answer your other question, but it vanished, after I posted my answer   Re: in Aperture 3.4.3 how do you sort photos manually?

  • Why is manual intervention required anyway?

    Hello,
recently there were 2 announcements about "manual intervention required" in the news,
    filesystem upgrade
    initscripts update
    Questions:
    1. Do I have to make these changes also, when I do a clean install with the actual image from 2011.08.19?
If so, they should be mentioned right in the download page, or in the cli when I upgrade, otherwise
I have to look through all the news back until the date where the image is from.
    2.  Why is manual intervention required anyway, just to delete a stupid file? If the problem is, that the package
does not own the file, then why do you not create a mother package that can do everything for such cases?
Sorry, but I have to add this one: "You should change KISS to KRTFM (keep RTFM)"
    Thanks.

I'll add my 2 cents, I don't believe this point has been made abundantly clear yet:
Manual intervention is sometimes required because we don't want to wipe user configuration or possibly break the system. While this is usually solved by installing duplicate files as .pacnew files and informing the user that he / she needs to manually merge the original file with the .pacnew file (migrating possible user configuration along with it), this isn't always a possible solution.
We can't do that if a file holding possible user configuration needs to be changed, but is system critical. An example:
Let's say grub is updated to a new version. Due to a change in grub, the syntax in grub's configuration file menu.lst is changed. We can't make this update for the user because we can't be sure what the user has added to this file. We also can't install the new file as a .pacnew because the new version of grub is not compatible with the old style configuration file, the system may not start up at all!  Hey, we could just delete the old file and put the new file in its place, but the user will have lost all his configuration. Nobody wants that. Imagine having to fix your configuration every time you update. No thanks!
The only decent way to solve this is to request manual intervention, there is no reliable way to do this automatically. This has nothing to do with the amount of effort this would take, some of these upgrades simply can't be resolved automagically. This also nicely explains allan's post:
    yaffare wrote:
Allan wrote:Manual interventions is required because we are rolling release.  That means we can not just save big changes for every six months.
Thats not an argument, what does it has to do with rolling release or not? Nothing.
There are arguments like Trilby said with security issues or that its too much effort for your team or you think its not worth the time.
Non-rolling releases can postpone updates that would cause system breakage like the grub update in my example, a rolling release like Arch Linux can't do that. We don't have a 6-monthly 'stable' base to work from, or the option to let updates that would require manual intervention wait till the next 'stable' release.
Distributions like Ubuntu and Fedora don't require manual intervention because the situations where these manual interventions are required are pushed to the new release of the distribution, or are simply allowed to wipe user configuration. The downside to this being that users of those distributions have to wait for a next release to be able to use the new version of some applications.
    Now as for this:
    yaffare wrote:
If I can delete a file manually, than a script can do the same, as its the same for file for every user and every user who has installed the package has to delete the file.
Basically my question is: Why do you not create a workaround, so that manual intervention is not required?
You, as a person, can tell what changes you have made to the first file. You can also tell if those changes need to be put into the new file, and where they should go. You can tell this because you're an intelligent person capable of reasoning, a computer can't do this. We can create workarounds for quite a few situations, but we can't ever be 100% sure what a user changed or wants to change. We need the user to tell us what he / she wants, thus we require manual intervention.
I hope this explains the need for manual intervention.

  • Why do manually added mp3s in the Podcasts app all show up in the same folder?

    Let me explain!
I like to download lectures and talks and audio books from other sources than iTunes.
I like to add these mp3 files to iTunes, change the Media type of them from Music to Podcast, and transfer them to my iPod Touch. This is so I will more easily know which ones have been listened to and can be removed.
This worked (and works) well in the Music app. Everything was separated into folders based on what album name I had manually assigned to the ID3 tags of the files.
But in the Podcast app, all of these files are now lumped into one folder.
I currently have eight un-listened-to episodes of Philip K. Dick's Valis on my iPod Touch. But the folder shows a count of 106 unheard episodes in relation to this audio book, because it lumps all of my other manually added podcast media tracks into the same folder.
    Why is this?
Why does the Podcasts app refuse to let me separate manually added files into individual folders based on album information?
Had the My Stations feature let me populate its playlists in a more rational manner, and also allowed me to manually change the running order of the tracks (something which only seems to be possible in the On-The-Go playlist), I would not think that this omission was such an annoyance.
I have been searching for months for mentions of this problem, but I have not seen a single one, and so I have finally decided to make my own thread.
Let me know if the nature of my problem remains unclear.
    Joakim

    That doesn't do anything.
When I plug my phone in and attempt to sync it with iTunes and click on "Steven's iPhone" under "Devices" the display to the right just says "loading..." and it stays like that for hours. Nothing happens.
As far as I can tell, there is literally no way for me to delete the photos from my iPhone and I therefore, cannot upgrade to the newest software, download new apps, etc.

  • Why No Manual Backup?

As I'm frustrated with the search engine on the forum I thought I'd start a new thread.
I spent about two days developing images from a shoot in LR2. Decided to backup my work...just in case...
Well, the only way to backup your work is to close lightroom and reopen it and since I had selected the "backup lightroom every time it opens" box in the preferences, when it began to reopen I ran the integrity check and backed it up to a 2nd external drive.
I did not move anything. I simply backed up a catalog I had just closed to a different drive... voila!!!
Work gone... images still there... sans developed settings.
Great software... EXCEPT THERE'S NO MANUAL BACKUP!!!
    Why?

Why would one want to save all the minuite detail of each develop steps. e.g Every time you move a slider, exposure +.50; brightness +.25; exposure -10; exposure +5; fill light +30; brightness -25; exposure -45.
So what's the final position exposure +0; brightness +0; fill light +30, this is what LR will apply if you export  or save to xmp at this stage, the individual steps you applied to arrive at this position is not important, why would you need to save this information. If you need to save at different stages of your work there is always create virtual copy.

  • Why is manual sort order disabled in album view

I created an album and added pictures. By default, the photos are displayed in sort order by date. I'd like to manually order them. However, when I select the sort order drop down box, the option to manually order the photos is disabled. How can I enable it or why is it disabled.

It is not available because you have yet to create a manual sort for that Album, and so there is no "Manual Sort" available. Create a manual sort manually (re-arrange the photos). Then the "Manual Sort" menu choice should become available.
The menu switches between the existing sorts.
I didn't design it. This makes sense to engineers, but not so much to users. Any time you manually re-arrange your images, the sort is automatically changed to "Manual". Aperture remembers the last manual sort; it is always available via the sort selector.

  • Why no manual gc?

It seems to me that the one feature missing from Java's
memory management model is the ability to demand that a specific object be garbage collected immediately if you know it's not going to be used anymore. What I mean is something like C++ "delete" keyword, where you could call it if you wanted to but you wouldn't have to because automatic gc would come get your object sooner or later anyway. It seems to me that a feature like this would make optimizing code much easier than learning the whole toolbox of programming techniques needed to use automatic gc efficiently. You'd get the best of both Java and C++, basically.
can somebody please give me a general description of why this idea isn't feasible or isn't already a part of java?
    thanks alot!

I imagine that it would be possible to assign a hashcode of some sort to each object and reference at creation-time, and have the VM refuse to service the request if the hashcodes don't match. That way, my obsolete object reference has the same hashcode as a nonexistant object, while your password object has a new hashcode known only to references created at the same time or after you refilled that memory address. These would have to be stored in a global object reference table somewhere, which I bet already exists. There would be slight overhead of checking validity each time an object was accessed, but doesn't this also already exist with stuff like SecurityManager?
PS I know the creators of Java weren't stupid-- overall the language is the most elegant piece of compsci i've ever seen. When I think I see a hole in it I usually suspect my understanding is incorrect.
    thanks

  • Why no manual?

It's a major and inexplicable omission not to have a manual for downloading like every other Adobe product. The so-called online manual is nothing but a bunch of tutorials; very nice, but useless when trying to read up on a particular feature.

  • Why no manual eject? Is it for security reason?

Lets say you want to leave your desk and the disc in the drive is at risk of being stolen. If you log out and there is no manual eject then the disc is safe yes?
Would the Apple dudes think along these lines or have I been watching too many James Bond movies. Which I have.

In the Floppy Disk Drives (called SuperDrives) there was a hole where a bent paper clip could be inserted and force the mechanism open. This was also present on the early iMacs (certainly my iMac DV in 1999) and the CD300e which was Apple's second external optical drive we had in about 1994. The paper clip still holds many memories for Apple users and it caused great delight when some iPhones shipped with an Apple paper clip:http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2007/08/03/iphone-returns-from-service-with-offici al-iphone-tool/
The hold-your-mouse-button-down-during-startup works beneath the OS so will work for cases where the hardware is not defective.

  • Help with HXR-NX70U Sony NEXCAM: in manual recording video comes out stroby

When I put this camcorder into manual recording the video looks stroby and records the same way. How can I avoid this and still record in manual?

    Hi Guys,
    thanx for your replies.
    here's the latest:
Brian, I followed your instructions and the DVD burned successfully. However the video quality of the dvd when viewed on my TV ('ve tried on all 3 of my tvs now) is still a lot poorer than the quicktime movie that was imported into DVDSP4. When I play the original QT Movie on my Mac CRT monitor it looks a little blurry and grainy because I guess its non interlaced however when viewed on an external Video monitor it looks great - very sharp.
When I view the burned DVD on my television the picture quality looks like the non interlaced version of the original QT Movie that appeared on my Mac CRT and not the sharp interlaced (lower field) version that appeared on my external video monitor.
Its almost like taking a sharp jpeg into Photoshop and applying a gaussian blur of about 0.3 followed by jepg compression compressing it down to 5% quality!
I'm totally mystified. Can the conversion to Mpeg2 be removing all interlacing so that you get the less sharp computer monitor look? I just want the video on my final DVDs to be as good as the original source footage! I appreciate that along the way there might be loss of some quality but surely not that much?
Does this make sense to you guys or am I still doing something very wrong?
Robert: I have tried setting all manner of drives including a fresh external firewire HD with nothing on it (clean out of the box) but it doesn't seem to help.
Brian: I tried the no network suggestion a few months back but I'm not sure if I got it right. At the moment I have broadband through an external speedtouch usb modem and am also connected (occasionally although not for the last 3 months) via a crossover cable to my PCs ethernet card. When I last tried the No Network solution I had immense trouble getting my internet to work again! Can you please help me by directing me to the best ay to do this while protecting my internet settings?
any more help guys would be greatfully appreciated.

  • How to connect macbook to sony bravia using hd15 port

Im trying to hook up my white macbook into my sony tv. the manual says to use a hd15-hd15 cable. what do i need?
    please help!

IF your white MB has a miniDVI output, one of these should do the trick...
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/M9320G/A?fnode=MTY1NDA3Ng&mco=MjE0ODQzNQ
Of course, you will also need a 3.5 to L/R audio cable for sound and you will need a VGA cable.
Why not use an HDMI port if you have free one? Better picture.

  • How can I hook up my Sony surround sound to Apple TV to watch streaming videos?

How can I hook up Apple TV to my Sony surround sound to watch streaming video from Netflix?

    Which Apple TV is it?
There should be outputs you can use for video/audio. The latest Apple TV has HDMI out. Find the correct cable that matches your TV and follow Sony's user manual to hook everything up correctly.

  • "Manually manage music and videos" takes up more space than syncing?

    Hello all,
I fear that I am just stupid and unseeing an obvious answer to this query, but ask I shall, because it is frustrating me to no end.
I recently downloaded a few audiobooks from my local library to listen to on my iPod Touch; the app in question requires that you "manually manage music and videos" rather than syncing. Fine.
I switch over to iTunes, check the box, and now my music--without changing anything, mind--is now taking up an additional 1.8 (or more) gigs on my iPod. I toggle the option to "manually manage" on and off, and with it "on", my music takes up more space than with it "off", even though it's the same music, same podcasts.
Can someone please explain to me why syncing manually takes up more space than syncing automatically and where the extra gigs are coming from? There's not that much audio on my iPod--1.52 gb of music, 1.97 gb of podcasts and .69 gb of apps--which only adds up to 4.18 gb, and on an 8g touch, should leave me with about 4 gb of "wiggle room", so to speak, rather than .27 gb.
    Help, please!

iTunes will normally put just one copy of each file on the iPod and link it to multiple playlists. If your iPod's database has been corrupted at some point however, there may be unattached copies of your meadia from earlier sync attempts, taking up space on the drive, but not visible in the library. How much space does iTunes report for Other? Excluding files placed manually & intentionally on the iPod, "other" is typically an overhead of 1%-2% of the size of the media and represents the iPod database, artwork, games etc. If you have significantly larger amounts of "other" then you will need to restore your iPod in order to reclaim the space.

  • Mac mini and sony 46X2000

I have a mac mini, os 10.4.11 connected to my SONY46X2000 via VGA cable. It works perfectly most of the time, screen res is set to 1024x1280 and the display is recognised as a sonyTV. I am however experiencing the odd drop out, where the screen goes completely blank. It returns after a few seconds. Could this be overheating? are there any such known issues, it does appear to occur when the mini has been left on for a long period (days, rather than hours).

Yes, that adapter would do it. There are also full length cables with DVI at one end and HDMI at the other. FutureShop seems to sell those as well.
    http://test.energylabel.gov.cn/NewsDetail.aspx?Title=%e6%94%bf%e7%ad%96%e6%b3%95 %e8%a7%84&CID=31&ID=152
But before you spend money on this solution, it would be good to confirm a computer connection is supported by the Sony over HDMI. Check the Sony's user manual to see what it has to say about making computer connections.
