Sony Wireless Headphones #MDR-RF985-R

My 90 year old dad has a set of the Sony MDR-RF985-R headphones.
While switching from watching tv to a dvd, the headphones still continue to pick up the tv and not the movie.  I have also tried helping him switch back and forth.  While the operation of going from tv to a dvd on the tv screen is successful and I can hear the dvd playing on the tv; we do not hear the sound of the dvd through the headphones.
Any advice is appreciated.

Hello vimpi,
Thank your for your message. Based on the information you have provided it seems that the headphones have the audio coming directly from the source such as satellite or set-top box instead of your television audio output port.
In order to use the headphones with every device  he would like to play it will be necessary either to connect the headphones directly into the devices that you want to watch switching them or connect the headphones to the audio out port of your television, keep in mind that by doing so the television speakers will need to be turn off in order for the headphones to be able to acquire sound depending on the brand. • Sony Wireless Headphones Model MDR-RF925RK Not charging

I have a pair of sony wireless headphones as listed above, but they will not charge for me. The red charging light comes of, but stays on too long. When it does go off, the green light does not come on.
They had stopped working so I figured the battery was gone. I bought a new battery (proper model number and all) but I cannot get the green power light on (just the red charging light). I am 99% that everything is hooked up properly to the television. any suggestions?

  • How do I connect Sony wireless headphone

How do I connect Sony wireless headphones model rf970 to my ipad?

By the looks of it they are not Bluetooth wireless headphones. You will have to plug the iPad into the base station's audio input jack.

  • Wireless headphones MDR-RF970R sound keeps cutting out.

I always acquire Sony products and have had good luck by and large. However, I acquired Sony wireless earphones from Best By and although the calim was to a tranmission wpu;d reaach 150 feet, I could not receive a signal at 25 feet. I placed the trasnmitter where I had for the old RCA wireless earphones I had so they should have worked. I promptly took them back to Best Buy. This is why I always shop at Best Buy. No questions asked and no restocking charge.

Oh, bummer!  Sorry to see you had difficulty with them.  Keep in mind we're here to help out if you need us if you have any difficulty with our products in the future.

  • Have a new hp laptop pavilion g6 amd,i need an adapter to plug in my sony wireless headphones.

Just purchased HP Laptop Pavilion G6 and Sony Headphones [Wireless],find the plug in adapter will not fit Laptop.
As I live a far distant from my supplier wondered if this a common problem.

I was afraid of that.  When I plugged my older Cinema Display monitor into the thunderbolt port on the new Mac Pro, it worked fine, for two days.  Then it went black screen.  Local Apple Store tells me the old display needs a new LCD panel (over $600!).  I will get an older display that should work with the older Mac Pro and go from there. Thanks forgetting back to me!

  • Sony Wireless Headphones TMR-RF970R

I purchased these headphones to watch TV late night early morning. The headphones cost me a little bit over $100. These headphones aren't worth $15, I looked online for some help, the product isn't listed, got Sony Chat online and he couldn't find this model online. The hiss and static is so bad it gets louder one can't hear the actual television. Now I have to go about finding a way to get this wrong righted. I will post on all relevant sites about the crap that is being put out there.

You must be referring to the model MDR-RF970R Headphones. Please check if the right and left headphones are rested on the transmitter correctly. Remove the headphones and place them on the transmitter again so that the POWER/CHARGE indicator lights up again.
Please take note of the attached information. You can also see this on the MDR-RF970R manual.

  • Wireless Headphones MDR-RF810RK Cutting Out

Hi, I bought my heapdhones about 15 months ago and they had been great, really impressed with the sound quality and range, but recently the sound keeps cutting out. It's getting so bad that I can't really watch or listen to anything as the sound is continually cutting out - and I'm not moving, let alone wandering from room to room like I used to be able to do. I use them for watching movies and listening to music on my laptop. I have them on charge when not using them so I don't think lack of charge is the problem. Has anyone got any ideas what the problem could be and how to solve it? Should I buy a new battery? If so, where from? I'm in the UK and bought them from Argos, but they don't sell replacement batteries. Many thanks for your help.

  • Pairing Bravia KDL-50W829B with Wireless headphones (Sony BTN200)

Hi, Own the KDLW829 set and recently purchased a set of Sony wireless headphones. I am not sure if the bluetooth option is designed to work for headphones - I have tried pairing but haven't been successful and a google search did throw up the likelihood that the bluetooth support for this TV only works for mouse/keyboard devices. Can someone clarify? Thanks

    Hello jacksuarez7,
Greetings and thank you for your message. Based on the model you have provided KDL-50W829B, the only device supported for use with the Television is a Bluetooth mouse, it will allow you to register up to two units only.
In order to use your set of headphones it will be necessary to connect them directly to the Headphone / Audio out port available on the right rear side of your television and proceed changing the audio out setting to headphone as shown below:

  • How do you hook up wireless headphones so you can listen to Apple TV and satellite

Currently I have a direct tv satellite receiver and an Apple TV box.  I'm trying to hook up sony wireless headphones so I can hear both of them.  I watch Netflix on the Apple TV and normal TV viewing on satellite.  I'd like to be able to toggle between the two, and for the life of I cannot figure it out how to wire it up.  I have no issues getting them to work on the satellite receiver, but it's a no go for the Apple TV.
I have two audio ports on the back of the TV (one red and one white - doesn't specify in or out) and one optical port.
I also have a port a 3.5mm jack could go into and it says "services"

  • Can I use wireless headphones with my Sony model KDL 32L5000?

It is hard to hear voices well in some movies, I'd like some headphones but don't know if it is possible.
    Thank you.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Yes, it is possible to connect wireless headphones such as the Sony MDR-IF245RK to your KDL-32L5000 TV via the stereo mini plug cord. The single end of the said cord will go to AUDIO IN port on the headphone transmitter while the other ends of the cords will be connected to the AUDIO OUT of the TV (see here). Then set SPEAKERS option on the TV menu to AUDIO SYSTEM (page 27 of the manual). With this setup you can hear sound only through the headphones. You can hear sound from both TV speakers and headphones at the same time.
The MDR-IF245RK Headphones are in stock at our Sony Online Store here.

  • How to hook up a Sony RF Wireless Headphone

I want to hook up my Sony RF Wireless Headphones to my television system.  All inputs to the TV -  including Direct TV and various DVD players - are HDMI through a Yamaha Tuner.  The HDMI inputs are digital and there is no analog audio output availabe on the tuner or TV to interface with the headphones.  Do you have any suggestions on how I can hook up the RF wireless headphonees to my system?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Thank you for your post and welcome to the forums.
The Sony Wireless RF headphones should have a base where the headphones attach and charge. The same base should have RCA inputs(RED/WHITE) where the RCA from the TV AUDIO OUT should be placed. The TV must have AUDIO OUT for the headphones to operate correctly. If you need further assistance please contact Sony Support  for any further assistance.
