Sony Xperia J and headphones with controls

Hi All
I've just got a Sony Xperia J and am having little joy with the headphones. I've done searching and seen lots of posts about it, but I'm still not 100% sure on the situation unfortently.
The phone is CTIA. My headphones are CTIA (Altec Lansing Muzx® Ultra - MZX606). I've also tried another pair of CTIA (Skull Candy) headphones with the same result. Both work on iPhones fine, with full button functionality.
Just plug them in - nothing.
Hold down the centre button as you plug them in - Phone acknowledges them being plugged in and sound comes through them.
The next/back/play/answer etc buttons on them have no effect at all.
Why? (Feel free to get technical!). Does the Xperia J even support these buttons? I've looked at the Smart Headset and am concerned if I bought one the buttons still wouldn't work. Plus, I really don't want to buy more headphones as I already have a nice set of headphones with all the buttons I need that I've been using with my previous phone
I really want the buttons working so I can tuck it away safely on my daily commute but easily turn the volume up and down etc, as I have been doing for years on my previous phone.

I believe the problem might be related to voltage being used. Third party headsets that comes with music controls tends to use other voltage values compared to headsets just having a call key.
Xperia J provides 2V and if the headset requires more you might experience difficulties like this.
This might help you finding a third party headset that is fully compatible with your phone.

How are you attempting to connect them?
Looking at the Experia J features it does seem to support Wifi Hotspot, but there is no mention of a Bluetooth hotspot. Different phones offer different things.
The iPad issues the message, because there doesn;t seem to be anything it can do with it. But this is not something apple is blocking its more a limitation or a non present feature of the phone.
From the Manual which I assume you've read through:
To share your phone’s data connection as a portable Wi-Fi® hotspot
1 From the Home screen, tap .
2 Find and tap Settings > More… > Tethering & portable hotspot.
3 Tap Configure Wi-Fi hotspot.
4 Enter the Network SSID for the network. Tap the Security field to select a
security type.
5 If required, enter a password.
6 Tap Save.
7 Mark the Portable Wi-Fi hotspot checkbox. The phone starts broadcasting its
Wi-Fi® network name (SSID). You can now connect to this network with up to
8 computers or other devices.
8 Unmark the Portable Wi-Fi hotspot checkbox when you want to stop sharing
your data connection via Wi-Fi®
When that is set up, you can use your iPad to look for the Wifi network the phone is providing and connect to it as you would any wifi network.

Who have knowledge from Femtocell technology at Sony (Xperia Z2 and Zperia Z)

Contact request for a person who have knowledge from Femtocell technology at Sony (Xperia Z2 and Zperia Z).
I have been unable to resolve mobile data connectivity issues occuring with femtocell. Me and the operator have been trying to find a resolution for 2 months now. The thing is that this problem occurs only with Sony mobilephones. So i would need to find a developer from you who have better knowledgemtnt from the technicalside of your phones.

Sony Xperia Z3 and PS4 controller connection

Hey
I guess this is a wellknown problem among the Xperia Z3 Dual users.
I wanna connect my PS4 controller to the phone but it won't connect at all unless I do it before I connect the xperia z3 to the PS4.
I wanna experience how the ps4 controller works on my phone but I cannot andI wanna know how to solve this issue!!!

Anyone use the Sony MDRV-700 DJ headphones with nano?

Anyone use these with the nano? Did they work well?

I use Sony MDR-V6 headphones with the nano, and they sound great. These are the same as Sony Pro MDR-7506 (although often the MDR-V6 can be found for less money). These are actually great headphones for sound from nearly any gear (especially at the price), and they provide good isolation.
I don't know how the V-700 headphones work, but I'd stay away from them under the fear that they would be similar to the V-600s which are awful.
You will look ridiculous walking around in MDR-V6 cans unless you are in a recording studio. I hide in my office or at home with them and walk around with either buds (which unfortunately don't work with my ear shape very well - no bass) or Koss Sporta Pro (muddy and too much bass, but somehow musical and adequate for the task if exercising or walking about with ambient noise, plus you can set them around your neck when you aren't using them so they don't take pocket/bag space.)

I forgot pattern lock on my Sony Xperia Z1 and i need it back

on my sony xperia z1 phone i forgot my pattern lock. I can't use the Forgot Pattern Lock because it uses Wifi conection which i can't connect to...(my screen is locked) I want to hard reset it somehow but i tried allmost every method on the internet but none of them were working I tried holding the volume up and these things....but as i said it won't work for me. In order to fix this you need to perform a system repair
Switch off your phone and unplug from Pc (Hold volume up and power for around 10 seconds)
Start PC Companion and select Support zone then Update my phone/tablet then in Blue Repair my phone/tablet and follow the onscreen instructions - When prompted connect your phone still switched off holding volume down or back button - This should start the repair or reformat process
If you are using Windows 8/8.1 or a 64bit operating system then adjust the settings for PC Companion and run in compatibility mode and chose Windows 7 or XP

Run-time menus and save with control

I created a custom shortcut menu (on an XY graph) and saved it by selecting "save with control". This worked fine while I was running LabVIEW but did not work in the executable version that I created. The label of my XY graph was something like "X/Y GRAPH". I guessed that LabVIEW was trying to save my shortcut menu by using the string "X/Y GRAPH" and that the "/" was causing the problem. I changed the label to "XY GRAPH" and everything now works fine. Does this count as a bug? Do widget labels need to use legal filename characters if I am going to create custom shortcut menus?

I have reproduced your situation and this does not count as a bug--the slash counts as a special character and the filenames have to be alphanumeric. I hope that answers your question.

Possible to S/W switch btwn 2.1 speakers and headphones with Audigy

Rather than spend money on an external headphone/speaker switch for gaming, I was wondering if its possible to set up the Audigy 4 to switch between my 2. speakers and headphones without having to swap the plugs around each time. I heard some sound cards can do this in software and have a dedicated headphone jack. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

My device seems to not support MH410c. How do I make it support this headphone or do I have to find another type of headphone?

They won't work, those are OMTP standard, you need either an OMTP to CTIA adapter or a new pair if CTIA headphones.

My Sony Xperia Z1 was Entered by water!

I tested my xperia Z1 to be submerge in a bucket of water for about 10-20 secs with all flaps closed, after putting it out of the water it was initially fine and working well, then after 5mins I have noticed that my phone is not turning On, and I also noticed that there are some water vapor in the camera lens and also in led flash. What should I do? could you please help me out?

Hi,
I have a Sony xperia phone and im wanting to sync it with my macbook pro, when i plug it in the phone recognises its plugged in as it says connected via usb and begins charging, but nothing is coming up on my mac.

DAYS LATER, I BOUGHT A BOTTLE OF 99% ISOPROPYL ALCOHOL AND FINALLY DID THE TRICK FOR GOOD. NOW, THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE SCREEN WON'T TURN ON. I OPENED IT CAREFULLY AND SOMEHOW THE TOUCH IS RESPONSIVE SOMETIMES, BUT THE SCREEN STILL DOESN'T WANT TO TURN ON AT ALL, SHOULD I CHANGE THE LCD SCREEN OR WHAT?
PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME, WHAT CAN I DO!?

My Sony xperia z3 is not working.

I have the Sony Xperia Z3 and I have service through my provider yet I am not able to use any if the services such as texting,Internet or the ability to make or receive calls? It did it before but worked after a day but it's been almost a week.
