Sony Z1 and MH410

Hello ! Yesterday I bought earphones (Sony MH410) for my Sony Xperia Z1. Unfortunately I have a problem. When I plug them into the Z1, I get a "Headphones not supported" message. I searched around for a fix and I saw that I can make them work by holding the button next to the microphone, on the earphones, while connecting them to the phone and it worked. However, the sound coming out of the earphones was muffled. Vocals and drums had decreased volume while guitar stayed at its original volume. So in a way vocals and drums were isolated and guitar sounds were left normal. I pressed the button next to the microphone on the earphones and suddenly the sound coming from the earphones was normal. It sounded normally, no muffled vocals or drums. Everything was fine until I let go of the button. I have no idea what to do and I tried the clear all data, force stop Smart Connect and reboot the phone but it did not work. Also I tried the earphones on my PC and the sound was the same as on the Z1 - muffled until I hold down the button next to the microphone on the earphones. I had the same problem with my Nokia earphones on the same phone (Sony Z1) so I don't think that it's a earphone issue but in that case why don't they work on my PC ?I have the latest software on my Z1. I honestly don't know what to do. I hope you could help me.Thanks ! PS: Sony support did not gave me much support. I kept getting the same message replied over and over again - "Does your mobile phone have the latest software? Check and update now using the Sony Update Service on..."

Simple the Sony MH410 are OMTP headphones, they won't work with your Z1, you need CTIA headphones, or you can buy an adapter OMTP < > CTIA

  • Problems with Sony NX3 AND Sony Z5 avi files

Very, very strange problem. I will try to give as much detail as possible so bear with me.
I currently edit with two different computers. One uses Premier 3 the other uses Premiere 6. I shoot with several different cameras, but for purposes of this discussion I will talk only about the Sony Z5 and the Sony NX3. I capture my footage on a CF card (Z5) or SD card (NX3)
All HD footage shoot with the Z5 and/or the NX 3 works fine on either system. However any SD footage that is over a certain length will not import into premiere 6 (if it's from the Z5) or the length of the footage will only be 2:37 (on footage from the NX3). However the SD footage from either camera will play perfectly on the system with Premiere 3.
Any ideas on what my problem with premiere 6 is?

I caputured footage from my ZU1 yesterday that encountered time code breaks. They should not have been there. My only thought is that the breaks occured when I shut the camera down and started recording later.
Maybe... I assumed it was user error... I was wondering if perhaps a setting in the camera was causing the breaks when the camera powers down.

  • Sony album and music app not finding files on device,

Hi just got my new Sony Xperia Z3+ device and found a couple things I cant get my brain round and would appreciate some assistance.
By the way my phone has no external sd card in it, plain phone memory.
    1. I got an app called rocket player with a lot of music, yet sony music app seems to think there are no songs on my phone.
    2. when i open rocket player and select song and state use as ringtone and then check it in setting its still the previous/ original ringtone from the device, i press the top right and again no songs displayed.
    3. I have same isue with photos, I have downloaded images from my dropbox saved on to device and sony ablum app will not display any of my photos. Today my mrs sent me a lot of photos through whats app and NONE show in sony ablum. I even created 2 folders in sony album went to file commander and moved some photos into the two folder locations, open sony album and again NOTHING apart from orginal photos either taken by phone camera or screenshots.
Can someone help me fix these annoying issues. appreciate it.

Hi alexdon, thanks again for coming back to me.
    Issue has now been resolved..
Rang Vodafone as nothing was working, as I was withing my 14 days of a new contract they sent me out a device to see if that could have been the case.
Well setup new one exactly the same way but no issue right from the word go, music imported from computer went into the phones Sony album and again photos download from Dropbox or what's app appeared in phone album app..
So think it was a faulty device

  • Im running lightroom 4 and just purchased the Sony A7 and using its sd card. when I   tried to load the photos, I got a message "the files are not recognized by the raw format support in lightroom"

Tried loading my raw files shot w my new Sony a7 and its sd card into lightroom4. Got a message: "The files are not recognized by the raw format in lightroom"
Does Lightroom 4 not work with the Sony A7?
    Thanks,

Lightroom 4 cannot read the RAW photos from a Sony A7
You would have to download and install the FREE Adobe DNG Converter version 8.5 and then convert your RAW to DNG, and then import the DNGs into Lightroom 4
You could also purchase Lightroom 5.5, which will have the capability to read the RAWs directly.

  • I have a sony rx100 and my version of lightroom (4) will not recognize the raw (.ARW) files. Please help!

I have a sony rx100 and my version of lightroom (4) will not recognize the raw (.ARW) files. Please help!

I have version 4.4.1 on my computer now, which is functioning properly - but does not read the .ARW files. When I download the link you sent and try to open it, it pops up as version 5 and I get this image (attached). This is my first time in one of these threads, not sure if i have to reply to each of you individually?
DdeGannes, could you please tell me how to recover the serial number from my operating system?
    Thank you SO much everyone!

  • Sony KDL52V5100 and HDMI inputs

I purchased a Sony KDL52V5100 from Best Buy in July, 2009.  Nice television. I have a Dishnetwork 922 DVR/Receiver as well a Klipsch theatre system attached to the HDMI inputs.  Suddenly, this weekend, the television would not pick up a signal from the Dishnetwork receiver, message saying "no signal".  I changed the HDMI cable, purchased a new one, moved it to all of the other HDMI inputs, (#2, 3, & 4), brought out the other Sony tv and hooked up both HDMI cables, again with no signal.  We were able to watch movies on the Klipsch DVD/Theatre system.  Dishnetwork sent a repairman out, thinking it had to be in the Dishreceiver.  He moves the HDMI cable from HDMI #1 input to #2, and walla, a picture.  Unbelievable.  Now, no picture with the Klipsch DVD/Theatre, only sound and a green screen.  Could this problem be all in the HDMI inputs on the tv?  The #1 input, which had the Dishnetwork receiver originally in it, does appear slightly loose, but not enough that the cable will not stay in it.  And why now the problem with the HDMI input for the DVD/Theatre?  Any ideas?  Anyone else have this kind of problem?  Is this a Sony TV problem with the HDMI inputs, or the cables, which we've changed once already with new ones.

Problem solved!  With the Klipsch DVD/Theatre system, if you are using a HDMI cable, you must also attach the video in/video out cables.  Beautiful picture now and terrific sound.

  • Sony RX100 and Lightroom 4.3

Hi, I recently bought a sony rx100 and have downloaded lightroom 4.3 trial version so that I can work with the raw images.  When I try to read the files off the sd card, lightroom doesn't see them.  I've had to use the sony raw converter so that lightroom can recognise them.  Is this the way to go?  Am I doing something wrong?
    I'd appreciate any assistance.

I've uninstalled LR 4.3 and installed trial version of LR 4.2 and the same problem.
    Why did you do that?
I cannot vouchsafe how the Sony RX100 has worked with LR4.2, since I own mine only since 4.3
Works like a charm, like for c Frans w.
Why did you mention .ORF as raw file type in your post #2? The Sony RX100 has .ARW as raw file type. Did the Sony converter display .ARW as .ORF?
For pragmatic reasons I would suggest that you install 4.3 (BTW there is no trial version: the download is always the full package. It will just stop running after 30 days unless a valid serial no. will be entered.), enter your serial number and use it with your camera.

The Sony RX100 is not in the drop down list - Sony appears, but only with 4 available lenses, none of which are on the RX100.
    Any suggestions?
    Pulling my hair out.
    Thank you.
You are perhaps talking of the lens profiles. Here my experience differs from c Frans w:
Default does not auto-recognize, I have to enter the Make as "Sony", but then I get a recognition for "Sony E16-50mm F3.5-5.6 OSS".
Lens profiles are something different from supporting a camera and its raw file type (= LR being able to read .ARW).
Adobe may add further lens profiles, or some other people might create, actually using this camera.
I do not always need to apply a lens profile, since I consider the barrel distortion without one not too bad as long as it is not an architectural shot.

  • Recently purchased a Sony A99 and when i try to import video to I movie 08 it keeps crashing, anyway to fix?

Recently purchased a Sony A99 and when i try to import video to I movie 08 it keeps crashing, anyway to fix?
    Regrds

I'm not familiar with either your camera or iMovie 8 but you have a very recent camera and a very old version of iMovie so i'm not too surprinsed that there are incompatiibility problems.
What format are the video files from your camera?  (If its AVCHD I'm not sure this wasn't even invented when iMovie 8 came out.)
Are you are trying to import directly from the camera into iMovie?
You may have to copy the directory from your camera to your hard disk with the finder and then convert the clips into a format accepted by iMovie 8.
    What Mac do you have?
If you can I would advise updating to iMovie 9 - this requires iLife '11 and Snow Leopard or later (and for AVCHD a Core2Duo processor or later)

Does the Sony image viewer application for mac work for RAW files?
Yes.  Sony's Image Data Converter v.4 opens all Sony RAW file formats.
The Image that you see when you import a new Sony RAW file is a JPG that is included with the RAW file.

  • Sony EX1 and OnLocation

I just purchased the Sony EX1 and am wanting to do some On Location filming. Does anyone know if there are any compatibility issues with this cam as there were in Premiere Pro CS3 before the 3.2 update? Also, I understand OnLocation on a laptop is for firewire. What would be required to record SDI output from the EX1? What to record to? Besides ofcourse mucho bucks. Thanks for any input. Dorian

At least 4 SATA disks in a raid0 configuration or better, a wall outlet for the necessary juice, and a new version of OL.

  • Using HD 1080i60 shot with sony z1 and 24p shot with canon in a sequence.

is it possible to use two different kind of footage( one is HD 1080i60 shot with sony z1 and the other one is HD 24p shot with canon) in a sequence? if not what should I do?

Yes, it's possible. Make your sequence with the settings of the material you shot more of, and the other one will be rendered to those settings when you bring it in.
For a more consistent look between the two, you may want to look into this:

  • Sony a99 and wireless flashes

I bought a second flash unit to my a99 recently hoping to use 2 flashes in wireless mode - but unfortunately it doesn't seem to work (or maybe I am doing somehting wrong) I have Sony f42 and f56. F56 is set to wireless mode (red light is flashing) and my f42 sits on the camera (connected through the adapter) and it is also set to wireless mode via menu (Fn button). Tried switching these 2 flashes around but the one not connected to the camera never fires . Any ideas on what I might be doing wrong ?

I don't know the specifications of the Sony flashes specifically, but there are two ways to do wireless, via remote signal, or by triggering.
    Looking on these charts:
    http://www.sony-asia.com/microsite/assets/alpha/lighting/04_products/4-3.html
    http://www.sony-asia.com/support/resources/en_TH/html/Compatibility/DSLR/Flash/sony/F42am.html
    http://www.sony-asia.com/support/resources/en_TH/html/Compatibility/DSLR/Flash/sony/F56am.html
My simple guess is that these older models don't support a true wireless mode where one can act as a remote to trigger the other.
    That's just a hunch - I could be wrong
So, your option of triggering it is via flash triggering.
That means, you put on one your camera to fire when your camera fires, and the other in ****** mode.
I can't remember the difference between the ****** modes, but basically, one of them will flash when it detects the flash from the flash on the camera.
    Anyways, good luck.

  • Sony HC7 and fial cut studio

Hello all, Just a quick question. I'm looking at buying the new sony HC7 and final cut pro studio. is this camera compatible? I cant find it in the specs.
    thanks

Hi Scott, it is looking good for Mac use. I use the HC1 and frequent some great forums on the cam and a new sub-forum has appeard for the HC7.
One of the posts contains a file along with details of an export from Final Cut Express so, by definition this is one person who is using the combination well.
