Sooo, anyone know how to use this iMessage?

Does anyone know how to use this iMessage? I chose a friend who has an iPhone and I chose his email and his phone number, but the SEND button is shaded and not clickable. I thought this whole iMessage thing was universal on all our devices? I am guessing he didn't update his iPhone to iOS 5 yet. I have no idea. Not even sure how to use it. My girlfriend in Thailand has an iPhone and once she updates to iOS 5 is Apple basically saying that I can text message her free? iPhone to iPhone? Using iMessage? Are they using similar technology like TextNow or TextFree or something? Just a few ponderings. Thanks for any input y'all can give.

If you have the iPhone with iOS 5 on it and you setup iMessage with it and then start using it, then (Your cell number) is automatically registered with iMessage. (Remember Apple at this stage do not have telephone numbers registered but only e-mails. You can then use your cell number and vice versa with your friend on iPhone and iPad.
If you only have the iPad and not the iPhone and someone else you know that only owns the iPad and not iPhone with iOS 5, then you would only use the e-mail to send via iMessage
When you send a message on the iPhone, the SMS 'send button' is green. If it's an iMessge, the 'send button' is blue.

I cannot believe it could possibly be this hard to add music to an Ipod shuffle. With my mp3 player I just drop music into the appropriate folder. Done.

I have a masters degree in IT and 10 years experience, and I cannot believe that people LIKE Mac's and talk about how easy they are to use and there is no simple way to drop music into an ipod and play it!

Unfortunately for me, simply plugging in the iPod
shuffle doesn't seem to work. I've installed my
library with iTunes, plugged in the iPod, let it
auto-sync, hit the 'eject' button through iTunes,
unplugged my iPod, plugged in my headphones, hit
'play', and watch the little light blink green and
orange, alternating, for 2 seconds which, according
to the sheet included with the iPod, means there's no
music. And so I say to myself "***? I just had
iTunes copy music over itself. Surely these two are
'made for each other'?" Well, maybe not. I then
restore my iPod and repeat the process with the same
conclusion. I've tried this on one computer with
Vista, and one (different) computer with XP. Any
chance it's a bad iPod? I have a nano and love it,
but this one's quickly losing the favor of myself and
my wife.

Please upgrade your plan to Web n Walk plus. One of our users on T-Mobile UK had this to report back to us:
T-Mobile UK are in fact port blocking to ensure fair usage on their base Web and Walk Plan. I have upgraded to Web and Walk Plus and as a result the port blocks are lifted and I get a higher data allowance!

I'm using a late 2006 2.33GHz imac.I clean installed 10.6 from disc then updated to 10.7 from download.Now every time my computer goes into sleep it won't wake up.Anyone know how to cure this problem please??

The only way it will restart is to pull the mains lead out of the imac, put it back and try until it will start.
This only happened after reinstalling. Only Apple OS was on the imac and so it must be an issue with the software I believe.....
Anyone know how to cure this problem please?

This isn't a fix, more a workaround I used when I had wake from sleep problems that lasted from some point in 10.6.x, through 10.7 and into 10.8 (got fixed for me in 10.8.2). It seems to be connected with Bluetooth failing to wake up properly:
System Preferences>Energy Saver and set 'computer sleep' to 'never'.

Yes, you can do something like that. What you would do is create a button for each image and then hide them. When I do this type of thing I place all of the buttons on a template page and then hide the template.
You can then use JavaScript to copy the icon from any of the hidden buttons to the main button that you've set up to display the image. For example, suppose you set up 10 buttons named b1, b2, b3, ...b10. The code to copy the icon from one of them to the button used to display the image (b0) would be something like this:
// Get the icon from the b3 button
var oIcon = getField("b3").buttonGetIcon();
// Get reference to the b0 button
var f = getField("b0");
// Set the icon of the b0 button to the icon retrieved from the hidden button
f.buttonSetIcon(oIcon);

This code would go in the Mouse Up event of the smaller button.

to figure out which users have administrative privileges, open the Users & Groups pane of System Preferences; each user other than the Guest User will be shown with a description of either “Admin” or “Standard”. It’s typical for the first user created on a Mac to be an administrative user.

What version of OS X are you using? If Yosemite, you need to update to 10.10.1 or higher.

I figured out my problem...... I have custom text tones set up for certain ppl and had the default text tone set to "none" well with the iOS6 update it made it so if your default text tone is set on "none" then you won't hear what I call the send and recieve text sounds when in a converstation... if you change the default text tone to any text tone other than "none" you will get your send and recieve sounds back.... kinda annoying if you don't won't random texts from ppl waking you up... so I made a custon text tone that is called silence with just recording a few seconds of dead noise then edited it and turned all the sound levels down to 0 and set that as my default text tone.... now I have the send and recieve text sounds in a conversation and everything is fine! Sorry Nehucskter the first time I had this problem thats the first thing I did was reboot my phone.... first thing you do for everything lol....
