Sore, itchy, red eyes !

I received my black MB2 a week ago and i was absolutely stunned by the design, OSX and look. Since i started using it, i noticed my eyes always getting tired after 1-2 hours of usage.
Comparing side by side with my Toshiba 15.4", the font On Mac is blurry/greyish/unclear and the colors are faded compared to the Toshiba.
The screen on the Toshiba is so alive compared to the Mac, the other one looks dull and faded ...
Anyone else with similar issues ?
PS: I know i can use the font smoothing and Color profiles to adjust, but can not get any closer to my Toshiba.
MacBook 2.0 Black
Toshiba   Windows XP

I think the problem is when I am comparing the
MAcBook to my other laptop, i've been used to a
certain size and i beleive the TOshiba screen is much
brighter and vivid than the MacBook
A Toshiba display brighter and more vivid than the
MacBook? I doubt it. But as has already been
suggested, make sure you have the MacBook display set
to 1280x800. Unlike CRTs, an LCD has one native
display and all other sizes will be interpolated
resulting in fuzziness.
To my eyes, the Toshiba TruBrite screen is more vivid than the MB. I was expecting the MB to be superior, but my eyes are saying otherwise. I will try to take a pic if possible and post it. All settings are correct on the MB, max res, million colors, i even spent countless hours trying to calibrate the **** display.
How does bringing my MB to an apple store help if
i didnt buy it from that store?
All Apple resellers are required to perform warranty
service. A tech or salesperson can look at the
computer and immediately tell you if it is operating
normally or should be repaired.
Thank you for that info.

  • Droid Razr M Red Eye Boot Loop--continues for TOO many customers, need help!

Droid Razr M problem with red eye boot loop--with ALL of the many posts that can be found online concerning this problem, why is there not a FIX from Motorola and/or Verizon?  All I seem to get are suggestions (I've tried) and "device is now considered out-of -date, you need a new phone".  Why should I purchase a new phone when I will have another issue in 2 yrs to cause me to purchase again?  Amazing how I am back to the 3G Droid Razr X to make due--It is about 5 yrs out-of-date.  Support with phones that are out-of-contract is ...well, pretty much non-existent.  Motorola gives the same "run around" after a 1 hr. call.  Verizon chat tech were helpful/nice but I was sent to motorola when answers could not be found...useless call transfer/number.  Any help for this Verizon faithful customer other than spend more $ for another phone?

Factory data reset is all that you can try really.  If that does not repair the issue, then the software or hardware might really be at fault, and a repair would be necessary.

  • Has anyone experience a bug with red eye correction in LR 5?

No matter what I do, anytime I try to use the red-eye correction tool, I get the message "Unable to find red eye".  Even in pictures where the red eye is huge and clearly visible.  Has anything changed in LR 5 that would cause this?  I have Red Eye Correction enabled.  Anyone else experiencing this?
I'm a rather new LR user, so I'd be grateful for someone pointing me in the right direction before I file a bug report.
    Thanks!

    You bet .

I don't think there have been any algorithmic changes in red-eye, Lr5 vs. Lr4 (certainly none mentioned by Adobe, nor in Victoria Bampton's very thorough list of changes in Lr5, nor that I've noticed in the forums...), so if it is behaving differently (you sure it's not you? ), then it sounds like something is a-wonk now in your Lr5 (or was a-wonk before in your Lr4 ).

  • Can I remove red eye in Final Cut Pro X?

I've imported over a thousand pictures from iPhoto of my trip to California, and was wondering if I could remove red eye from photos without having to go back to iPhoto, fix the red eye, then reimport.

    matthew97 wrote:
OK, I thought he was saying that since consumer apps already do it, a professional app has to have the feature. Anyways, I guess I'll just have to reimport it.
Many of the Pro users are (rightly IMO) very ticked off with FCP X as it no longer supports many important Pro features that they use daily and is currently unsuitable for use by many for commercial/professional work.
(For hobbyists/amateurs, myself included, it will probably do very nicely as a step up from basic video editors available on the Mac and at a fraction of the price of the old suite which I couldn't justify buying).

  • Red eye function not working correctly - big black spot

On my old mac I never had a problem with this feature. Now, when I hit the red eye button, a green dot appears on the icon and I get the croos hairs on the screen. I select the eye to change and it leaves a huge black/grey spot round the eye. Looks like an ink spot and it's quite large. What is going on here? Thanks
    Matthew

    Judy:
To get closer just move the slider at the bottom to the right. Then you'll need to hold down the space bar to drag the picture till the area you want is in view.
Regarding the green dot, that's a new one. Try deleting the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that's in your User/Library/Preferences folder. Also emptying the User/Library/Caches/iPhoto folder wouldn't hurt either.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Aperture Red Eye Adjustments do not show up in preview

I generally use the zoom viewer to make my red eye adjustments; however, when I'm done adjusting and I zoom out, the viewer doesn't reflect the red-eye adjustments. Sometimes the adjustment on one eye will look correct but the other eye is still partially or completely red. When zooming back in, it looks correct.
I recently switched from iPhoto and had never seen this kind of behavior.
Any help would be appreciated, it's driving me kind of nuts.

In List or Grid, the image as you note is generated from the Thumbnail. The Viewer image starts as the Thumbnail blown up and ugly, then the Preview jpg image kicks in. Finally the rendered master/version with all adjustments should replace the Preview. I say should as it might be possible in your case the Preview is not being replaced. Worth checking.

  • Red eye editing problem

Hi all, I am new here and this has probably been asked and answered but I have not been able to find the answer yet, so please don't slam me to hard for asking for help. The problem I am having is with photos that have red eye in the original. I can edit the red eyes out and the photos look fine on my new imac but when I e-mail to friends they can't believe that the photos I send them have big black eyes. I am guessing it is something to do with the red eye editing. Am I doing something wrong or do I need to use a different program for red eye edits on photos that I send to others, particularly Windows users?
Thanks so much in advance for any help.

    turtle21:
Log into another account on your MBP and see if the problem persists when using iPhoto there. If it does then it's system wide. If the problem is gone then you've narrowed it down to your account.
If it's system wide the 10.4.0 COMBO updater that TD suggested would be the first thing to try. Next to that would be as reinstall of iPhoto. If or when you do try a reinstall of iPhoto you'll have to delete the current application and all files with "iPhoto" in the file name that reside in the HD/Library/Receipts folder. The reapply the updaters in the following order: 6.0.4, 6.0.5 and 6.0.6. The last two require the previous version to run.

  • Photo stuck on edit requesting red eye but there are no eyes in photo and cannot move away or go back

Photo stuck on one photo cannot move on or back . Initiated through edit with red eye option selected - in error as there are no eyes visible how do I cancel this?

Close the photos app in the recents tray and then reboot the iPad.
Tap the home button once. Then tap the home button twice and the recents tray will appear at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the Photos icon. Tap the home button twice.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Red Eye Tool

I recently tried to remove some red-eyes in some pictures I took. When I clicked on the photo, it made a black circle around the eye, like a black-eye on the photo. Any ideas what might be causing this? I have used the red-eye tool in the past and not had this problem.

    Craig,
You can change the curser into a circle, which you can resize to match the pupil exactly. It helps to zoom in all the way on the photo after you enter edit mode.
    Type Caps lockControl9
    Undo caps lock
Click on the Red-Eye Removal tool.
The tab key will toggle between cursor types, a cross or a circle for Red-Eye removal tool and between darken and lighten in the Retouch tool.
The "[" and "]" keys decrease or increase the size accordingly.
To get a lighter correction, Shift-click in the eye.
NOTE: Using the "{" "}" keys will will change the value next to the circle and that represents the degree of change or intensity that the Retouch tool imparts on each pass.
Thanks to Old Toad for passing along this trick. I find that it often works better than the red-eye correction in Photoshop Elements.

  • Red eye tool doesn't work

I have a folder with both raw and JPEG images. I can use the red eye tool on the raw images, but Lightroom just beeps when I try to use the it on the JPEG images. Why is it beeping? What does it mean?
More info: this is Lightroom 1.3 running on Vista. The raw images are from a Canon 40D. The JPEGs are from a Panasonic FX07.

Ramon is right. Best to select the whole eye (even eyebrow) and you'll get the overlay box around the red. If it doesn't entirely cover the red (or if it box bounds some reddish eyelids) you can click and drag to widen(lessen) or lengthen the box and change the 'pupil size'. And so far I haven't found any, even bright, redeyes where the 'darken' control won't get a good dark result. [Animals (green/yellow eyes) are a different story.] Sometimes going too dark will also darken the irises. With the 'show overlay' unchecked you can drag the 'fix' off the eye onto the cheek to see the pattern - dark in the center and then a gradient fade of dark going out from center. "Clear all" clears all of course and you can start over.

  • Red eye problem

    hi all,
I've used the red eye tool to fix 3 red eyes in a photo. 2 of them are fine. with 1 of them, it looks fixed in the normal view, but when I hover the loupe over it, it's still red.. more importantly, when I export a jpeg or other version, the red eye isn't fixed.
    any ideas what's going on?
    thanks in advance..

    Thanks Tony.
while it seemed to me that I had managed to get rid of the redeye properly in the master, and it was only showing in subsequent versions - I did start again and this time had no problem.
I can only assume I hadn't done it correctly.
Will see if it ever happens again.

  • Red eye problem gone

Just thought I would point out that the newest iPhoto patch has finally corrected the problem of photos syncing over to the iPhone in the original, uncorrected, red eyed form.
Now when you sync from iPhoto, any photo you removed the red eye from will also show the red eye correction on the iPhone.
    Yay Apple!

An Apple update has resolved this issue.
