but can somebody please help me with this? I just got the iphone4. Was very excited about it too...
I got home and I connected to my time capsule using password etc. Looked like it connected fine (got the wifi bars at the top, full) but when i tested it by trying to watch youtube clips, it was VERY slow to load, and then maybe played 10secs before it stopped and buffered or something - it outright paused and waiting for it to load further took an age.
Was a bit puzzled as I had never had problems with my 3GS. In fact, checked my 3GS side by side and lo and behold, my old phone was much faster at loading clips, and didn't pause half way through.
I tried reconnecting my time-capsule, rebooting my iphone, restoring factory settings, network connections and all the rest of it - no luck with wifi.
I turned the Wifi option off and found that it played the videos much better (but not perfect) just using 3g, while other apps that used video (for example Trailers which shows movie trailers) worked perfectly fine.
I also downloaded speedtest and looked at my upload/download speeds - again, doesn't appear to be a big issue (speeds are 7-12mb/s)
Can anyone help me fix this issue? is it a glitch with the Youtube software and IOS 4.0.1? Is my phone faulty? My 3GS works perfectly fine and it has IOS 4.0.1... I am regretting having 'upgraded' to the new iphone...

Ok - fwiw - I went to my local Apple store yesterday. Showed them Youtube clips side-by-side and they agreed my phone looked a little faulty.
They then gave me a new phone. Same problem. Another new phone. Same problem. On my third new phone, the senior Genius Bar guy came over to help out.
His take on it was that the new iphone displays Youtube clips at a higher resolution, so hence the longer load time versus the 3GS. I'll be honest - I have no idea whether this is the case but having seen 3new phones ALL underperform versus the 3GS, maybe this is the case.
In anycase, I hope they fix this problem, or at least add options to the Youtube app so that we can play clips that don't take hours to load.
If anyone finds the same problem, or you think Apple's explanation is wrong, can you please let me know thanks!!

Just my thoughts to add to the excellent answers above.
• BRAND of DVD used - Matters when doing Video-DVDs
Memorex, NoName etc cheap brands usually do NOT work
I only Use Verbatim (more organic dye in these)
• Type of DVD - matters
- DVD+/RW - usually results in problems
- DL-DVDs are more problematic than SL-DVDs
- DVD+R are a more modern sort - BUT PLAYS BADLY or not at all on older DVD-players
I only use DVD-R
• BURN SPEED - matters
- Best in iDVD app - IS NOT BEST at all but results in lot's of Burn Errors = Doesn't play well or at all
I set this down to x2 or x4 max.

If you still have the problem after retoring the iPOd to factory defaults/new iPod then The iPod is likely defective and replacement is required. You can make an appoinment at the Genius Bar of an APple store or take it back to BestBuy if within warranty

How recently did you switch? If it's less than 60 days, then Verizon simply reinstates your previous account. The fact that you were on the EDGE plan and mailed the devices back, and they apparently are somewhere in the system, could cause complications, and it might just work out that you just go back on the same plan and they set you up with the same devices. I'm not sure how it will go - but since you are still being billed for the devices...

..but I have a problem with accessing another database via Dblink, 11.2 to 9.2.
I have written routines to test iteratively against dual, 100000s of times and this consistently succeeds.
I have written routines to test iteratively against dual, 10s of times against the largest table I could find (multi-million rows)
This too never fails, both of the above on select count(1)
But, when I am pulling a large volume of data over the dblink, purely to insert into another table, sometimes (not consistently) it fails, and then it will not work on that Toad session again, even though using sql*plus to connect via the same client still works.
Okay questions; given that Toad works for everything else, but I get this error on two different client machines, albeit intermittently, can anyone suggest what might help. (could this be virtual memory related?)
Two, I presume if I use dbms_job to time the same query in then as I have bypassed my client then provided comms between my servers is good then this should not fail 'off client'?
Three, is there any kind of time out setting that could help?

From your description I would guess at some kind of network/connection lost issue (Ora-3113). In such cases you can't reuse the same session again since the connection to that session is lost.
I don't use toad much but I have the same experience with sessions in SQL developer. If the connection was lost I need to close this connection (the tool sometimes doesn't nitice the lost conenction properly). And reopen a new connection+session again. Then it works usually. In very rare cases I have to close the whole SQL Developer and restart it (or open a second developer instance). Maybe it is the same with toad.
Also there are timeout settings on various parts of the system. At the moment I can think of the following locations:
* Your local SQLNET.ORA
* the SQLNET.ORA on the local database with the DB-Link
* Database parameters like DISTRIBUTED_LOCK_TIMEOUT

Ipad appstore shows all Apps up-to-date, but I know this is not the case. How to fix?

App store shows all apps are updated, but this is not the case. Yesterday I opened the appstore and saw 7 apps that needed to be updated, however after a refresh it shows that all apps are updated. Unfortunately I didn't update any apps and I found several apps by manual search that will update. In addition imovie can't be updated on ios 5.1.1 but this used to show in updates.
How can I get the appstore to correctly show apps that can be updated.

Quit the App Store app.
Go to the Home screen and double click the Home button. That will reveal the row of recently used apps at the bottom of the screen. Tap and hold on the app in question until it wiggles and displays a minus sign. Tap the minus sign to actually quit the app. Then tap anywhere on the screen above that bottom row to return the screen to normal. Then restart the app and see if it works normally.

Sorry, but your warranty is just that, and what you would need is an insurance policy. Warranties typically do not cover loss, theft or accidental breakage, at least not unless bundled with a "protection" package or deal.
Ask your parents though if their homeowners policy might cover it?
Oh, and the only way to track it was if you had already enabled the track my iPhone option with your iCloud account settings before it was stolen. And to track it, it would need to be on a network connection, either wifi or 3G.

The problem of the minimum volume of /25 being too loud for many still exists. I would like to ask if it is possible to reverse this glitch even if a new firmware if released? Or does the mp3 player, being a flash player mean that once it's done, it's irreversible?
I know many have suggested finding external volume control means. However, I'm having a horrid time searching for such ear phones. Most of which are cheap ,of low quality and with this specific feature needed, my choice of earphones are greatly restricted. I notice that the creative ,other better brand earphones and those expensi've ones do not include this external volume control system probably because the quality of the sound will be affected.
Volume control cables are an option too. However, the quality as mentioned earlier, would drop too. In addition, it's such a chore. I don't know what can be done to solve this problem, but I'm definately not satisfied after the change happened.

OK, I have just reverted my N200 back to the latest f/w (.20.04) with the 0-25 volume scale and have twice managed to get it to go back to an earlier f/w (.2.0) with the 0-40 volume scale.
Before doing the following ensure that you can consistently connect your player to your PC in Recovery Mode. You must have pre-installed the drivers from your CD or the website and connect the player while holding the Play button. Keep the button held until the New Hardware Wizard starts (if this is the first time into Recovery Mode) or you get the USB icon appear in the System Tray. If you get the USB icon, click on it and it should say "HI SPEED USB device attached to non-HI SPEED USB hub". Click Close on this window.</LI>
Check that you are in Recovery Mode by looking in Device Manager - it should show as Player Recovery Device and not as your normal player's entry such as N200 USB Device.</LI>
If you can't connect in Recovery Mode then investigate that first before continuing.</LI>
If you have any programs that start when you plug in your player, such as MediaSource, then disable them from starting (Tools, Settings, Detector in MediaSource). This step seems to be quite important as it stops your device from being detected half-way through the upgrade process - I think this is what was causing me problems before.</LI>
Connect your player in Recovery Mode as outlined above.</LI>
Run the earlier f/w file (.2.0 or earlier for the N200 have the 0-40 scale).</LI>
The Searching for Devices box should show - wait and do not press Cancel.</LI>
You should then get "Media State Not Initialized" - click OK.</LI>
Check the Format Data Area box and say Yes to the next window.</LI>
Press Start - the upgrade should start with Allocating Tables and then continue.</LI>
When Complete is displayed press Close.</LI>
Player should now have earlier f/w on it with 0-40 volume scale.</LI>
So, in the end, it was quite a simple procedure to get back to the 0-40 volume scale. Remember that you will lose any enhancements to the f/w such as support for 3 levels of sub-folders and Thai language support so you have to make a choice on what is most important to you.
For the Nano Plus you can try version %20Firmware%20.03.02].03.02. Not sure if this was 0-40 though.
For the TX FM you can try .5.0.

Okay, so my charger has been getting very hot lately, that, at the connection part, where I plug it in. The casing gets very soft, and has started to lose its shape, and has cracked... And when i smell it, it smells like a faint hint of burning plastic. What should I do? Am I covered?

No, for it to smell and get soft is definitely dodgy. If it is less than 12 months old you would be entitled to a replacement. If you are under Applecare call them and discuss your problem.
If it is not covered by any warranty you should seek to replace it anyway.
Be reticent using it until you get this rectified - you don't want to start a fire or damage your iBook. It is not a matter to procrastinate.

You may see that message below the Google search box on www.google.com/firefox which is the old Firefox default home page. That page is no longer being maintained by Google.
You should try changing your home page to:
about:home
If you don't know how to change the home page, you should take a look at the Knowledge Base article [[How to set the home page]].

I'm having trouble searching the forum for an answer, so I'll pose the question which I'm sure has been answered many times in the past.
The BBC's audio streams are fantastic. Now that I've installed the "Remote" on my iPod Touch, I'm keen to listen to their streams in iTunes rather than the BBC iPlayer.
Is it possible to add any of their streams to iTunes? At minimum, the Worldservice?

I have also wondered about this. Want to hear the world service without opening RealPlayer or Safari. Tried to open a stream with the adress from RealPlayer, but that didn't work. Maybe iTunes doesn't support RealAudio? Also tried the adresse you get when opening a stream from BBC Radio's homepage, but that didn't work either. This stream should be in windows media format. I have got Flip for Mac installed and updated. Any ideas out there?

My question is, can we spawn any other kind of connection from an EJB to another database on some remote machine, this would involve using the thin or oci drivers, i try but get security exceptions and access privilege exception though the account i use is privilegded for database operations.
