Sorry More Cover Flow Issues

In iTunes all my artwork displays properly but when I sync with my iPod not all the artwork transfers. Does anyone know the reason for this. Is it proper resolution or something being I got some from amazon and google.
The wierd thing is some of the covers are of the same resolution but some work
(all of them in iTunes) but not all on the iPod. Anyhelp would be greatly appreciated.....Eric

Ok, I think I'm dealing with the same issue.
Got my 160GB ipod classic and have the most current version of itunes and implemented the firmware update. Loaded up some music at home with no issues. Brought the ipod into work and loaded up more music (work itunes was previously updated).
Here is where the problem begins. I ejected the ipod to go home and before I leave I take a look using the cover flow view and see that ALL of the album artwork has been wiped out.
So now tonight I've spent the last few hours going through and trying to get things back in order. When I first connected it today to itunes some of the album artwork magically shows up again. Anything else that was missing I replaced. I double check albums to see that the cover art is there while it's still connected to itunes.
I ejected the ipod and take a look using cover flow view only to find that now some album artwork has been duplicated and some is still missing completely. Again, I re-connect the ipod to itunes and check out some particular albums which were wrong, only to find they look correct while connected.
Sound familair to anyone else?

  • Cover Flow issues w/ iPod Nano 3G

Anyone else experience issues when browsing albums/music via the Cover Flow feature on an iPod Nano 3G? This is my second 8 gig unit (received directly from Apple) that's exhibiting the same symptoms of freezing/hanging when sifting through my album artwork. Believe it might have to do w/ buffer limitations w/ a large library as I find the feature seems to work more reliable w/ a smaller musical library. Also having troubles syncing contacts and calendars if my music library exceeds over half the capacity of the device (4+ gigs) - very annoying Any solutions/suggestions out there?

Okay! cover flow is working fine after replacing jpg. Its easier than I described above to replace the songs and associated cover art.
Click on your iPod in iTunes (Left Menu) Select Summary Tab at the top. Check "Manually Manage Music And Videos" (you may want to uncheck it later, to automatically sync your library) (Also check "Convert to 128 AAC" to save space on your iPod) Click "Apply" lower right corner.
Next click the Music Tab and uncheck "Sync Music". Click "Apply", (lower right corner). If it says its going to erase all on iPod then just leave it.
Click the small down arrow beside your iPod in iTunes left menu. Click on Music. It shows the songs on your iPod. Click on the songs to delete. (Use Shift click first and last song to select a bunch (control click to select some but not all)
Now Go to Library --> Music (left menu) and select the songs to replace (with the new reduced art) and drag and drop them on your iPod (left menu) (Use Shift Click / Cntrl Click to select multiple songs and then just drag one they will all be copied). You can also use Copy/ Paste if you dont want to drag and drop.
This works, and takes less time than replacing your whole library by syncing. Good luck!

  • Audiobook Cover Flow Issue

I have recently noticed that coverflow no longer functions appropriately when listening to an audiobook. Previously, when listening to an audiobook, turning the phone sideways would show all audiobooks in cover flow mode. Now, when turning sideways, the current audiobook shows up at the end of the music album list with no other audiobooks appearing. Additionally, when viwing the audiobook content (flipping the cover) only the current portion being listened to appears as opposed to all tracks of the audiobook. Anyone else experiencing this? Anyone know why? Perhaps a bug with version 1.1.1?

I have the same issue and, in addition, when playing an audiobook, on the back of most of my albums in coverflow mode I get the list of chapters from that audiobook as opposed to the songs from each album. Also, I have 4 audiobboks, however only the audiobook playing shows up in coverflow mode...
Then, if I start playing a song instead, the audiobook disappears from the last position of the coverflow list and the correct list of songs reappears on the back of each album...
Has anybody else had these problems?

  • COVER FLOW ISSUES

OK, I'm stuck with my touch until Friday when the Apple Store near me gets a new batch in so I can replace my screen.
So to make the most of it I have been trying to get all the album covers to look great in cover flow. I did what the help section of iTunes says to do.
Highlight all the album, press "apple""I" KEY, and then drag the artwork into the box. I have done that for everything! It looks great on my Macbook, but I still have gaps in the coverflow on my touch? T
hey are all in the correct format, anyone have any ideas?

I believe I finally figured it out for myself, I think the ones towards the end have been marked as compliations. So I believe I've answered my own question.

  • Cover flow issue

So some of my iTunes cover art is cut and pasted in because it is not in the iTunes Store (you know from esoteric groups like The Beatles...) and the odd thing is that these pasted in covers show up in the horizontal Cover Flow on iPod Touch but in the vertical single album view I get the no-art music icon. Prolly just some early bug or is it just me?
    Thanks

do you have the art pasted into each song individually or just into a couple out of an album?
if its just a couple it will work in coverflow but the ipod looks at each songs ID3 tag for the art when in vertical mode. You can check this by changing the art vewing to selected instead of now palying in iTunes and clicking on each song to see if art pops up. If not jsut paste the correct in and resync and it should work.

  • {Urgent} Cover flow issue on white iPod Touch?

I have a new white iPod touch and every time I go to use cover flow the iPod crashes and returns home... [iOS 5.0.1 ]How do I fix this? I'm converted all my songs to 128 kbps ACC so the iPod can read them faster but this is not helping what should I do? And some of the album artwork doesnt appear, and I know its there because of the viewer in iTunes. How do I fix this too?

I have the same problem with my new white iPod touch and I don't know if I should take it to the place that I bought it...what do you recommend me?

  • IPod Classic Cover Flow Issues

    Hi Everyone.
Just got home with my new iPod. Synced it all up and i've noticed in the actual coverflow view on the iPod it's really messy. Loads of covers over and over again. They are mainly from the compilations. I've checked and i've put album artist to something uniform on those albums. But it hasn't helped at all. Any help would be much appreciated.
    Thank you,
    John

I posted this in another thread. It might solve your problem:
+I was able to sort coverflow by album by changing the artist names to the album name.+
+For example, my Rhino 70's box set has 7 discs and 150+ artists. It showed up on coverflow as 150+ album covers. A real drag.+
+I highlighted all of the songs in the set and opened the dialog box to change multiple song entries. From there I renamed the artist to "Rhino 70's Box Set", and cleared the multiple disc box. When I clicked OK I ended up with one album cover for the whole set. I entertained the idea of adding the artist names to each individual song so they would show up on playback, but that seemed way too anal for me+
+BTW, I did the same single disc designation for all of my box sets, consolidating all of the discs under one cover. Works for me.+

  • Cover Flow locks up G4

And some OS X screen savers do it, too. They have ever since I upgraded to X (couple years ago, maybe 3? 4?) But I just avoid them. Flurry and Computer Name are the only standard screen savers that do not lock it up. I can download screen savers from movie sites and they work fine. I assumed the G4 was locking up because I still had OEM 400 MHz and 256 M RAM but I have upgraded the CPU to 1GHz and installed more RAM and still getting the lock up. Occasionally Cover Flow won't lock up but it's dicey. Also, have never been able to use the slide show in iPhoto without lock up. Music keeps playing but everything else shuts down.
What is this? Do I have bad VRAM? How would I check that? Do I have bad RAM that doesn't show up in basic tests?
G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   1 Ghz (Sonnet), external drive, LaCie CD burner

it's not a power setting issue. It's a computer lock up issue. Other screen savers work just fine. And, no, the power settings are not preempting the screen saver settings. It's a Cover Flow issue. Please try again.

  • Cover Flow sorting is wacky (not a compilations issue).

I just purchased a 120GB Classic with the hope that I'd be able to browse my collection of music by album artist. After all but giving up hope, it looks like Cover Flow is almost doing it (on purpose or not, I don't know).
Here's the issue: I tag my .mp3s so that on tracks with multiple artists, they're separated by a "/" -- so, for example, on my Aesop Rock album, "None Shall Pass", track 6 has an artist field of, "Aesop Rock/Breeze Brewin/Cage". I always include the artist in the artist field before I put any of the guest artists.
When I sync this to my iPod, the Cover Flow only shows this as one album (there are four tracks scattered throughout the album with different artists). If Cover Flow was sorting purely by artist, it would have multiple covers. So I'm thinking that I figured out a way to get what I want.
Except the iPod seems to randomly decide which albums it wants to treat this way -- some, such as the Kid Rock album "Cocky" (the one with "Picture" with Sheryl Crow"), are shown as two separate albums in Cover Flow. This doesn't make any sense to me.
All the "sort" fields are blank for all the files, so that can't be what's doing it. If I go under the Artist menu, it shows all the artists just as they're written in the tags.
So what's the deal here? How does Cover Flow really work?
[EDIT] Nevermind, I figured it out. Apparently when you sort by artist, it will give me all the songs with just the artist, and then give me the songs with that artist and any other artist (the slash comes after all the letters alphabetically). So if the artist has more than one album, it doesn't group them together by album.
I guess the "sort field" is the only way to fix it for now.
    Message was edited by: Psyact

Using the sort field to try to force things together doesn't quite work, and certainly not when the album artist has more than one album with guests. I think you'll also find there are some enumeration issues in the album menu which may cause the wrong cover to be displayed as you progress through the library. See my recent post on Grouping Tracks Into Albums for a somewhat long, but hopefully comprehensive, exposition of the issues.

  • Cover Flow Sorting Issue - Workaround

Here is a temporary solution to the Cover Flow view & the Album Art Grouping view.
As many of you know the sorting by 'Album' or 'Album by Artist' or 'Album by Year' in the above mentioned views is not correctly prioritized.
The issue stems from the fact that the sort algorithm prioritized 'Artist' over the expected logic implied by grouping by the sort field name. So if a single album contains tracks all by different artists, you will get a Album Cover for each artist NOT each album.
To get around this (until Apple fixes it) use the 'Album Artist' field (which is usually, but not always, empty) and set this field to a common value for an entire album — such as 'Various Artists.' When doing so, the logic will still sort on the Artist Name first, but will group the entire album together.
If Sorting by "Album by Year" then the only hitch to this method is if you have two or more albums with the same & progressive title (see example below.) Then the album will sort in order of the Artist name of the 1st track of the album. — This probably will affect nearly zero of the the iTunes population though.
e.g. The album sort order will be:
Album: "Music 02" 1st track Artist: "Astro"
Album: "Music 03" 1st track Artist: "Terra"
Album: "Music 01" 1st track Artist: "Viggio"
Once again just set each album with a common "Album Artist" descriptor. I use "Various Artists"
    -Alan
Note: Also there is a new field in the info tags for each song called 'Album Artist.'
AlBook, TiBook, iMac, iBook   Mac OS X (10.4.5)   Corporate / mixed environment / multiple networks.

    Hi,
just change the switch Compilation to true for all songs in the album and it works too.

  • Issues with finder going out of sync with file images in cover flow.

    Hi All,
I'm having issues with files going out of sync with images in cover flow since updating to Mavericks. Typically, if I had for example 10 pictures listed as 1 to 10, if i deleted images 6&7 the images remain in coverflow but the file listings are removed, then if i click on image 7 the file listing of image 8 is highlighted, then to make matters worse, if i click on the file listing for image 9 in shows image 8 in cover flow. To stop this I have to shut down finder and restart it, then the whole thing repeats itself if i delete more images. Its a nightmare when your working with 50 plus images at a time!!! Help!!
    Thanks all.

    com.apple.systemuiserver.plist and com.apple.finder.plist
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Preferences/. Move the .plists to your desktop.
Re-launch Finder by loggin out/in and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the same, return the .plist to where you got it  from, overwriting the newer ones.
Thanks to leonie for some information contained in this.
You might need to redo the View settings after an update.
If you look at the 'More Like This' box (top right) it seems the Cover Flow view is having problems.
Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

  • Cover-Flow- and Artist Search-Issue (with Compilations) not in manual

    Hello,
I'm planning to buy an iPod classic 80GB, but there seems to be one issue I cannot live with: Albums marked as compilations are not recognized on the iPod classic. This results in the fact that all single songs on a album are represented as an own album in cover flow. In the artist-view every artist represented on one of the compilations is in the list. For people owning a lot of compilations with different artists (eg. "one hit wonders" or unknown bands) the artist search will be practically unusable.
So now I wait for an update fixing this issue. And this is what I would like to ask you: Is there any hope that this issue will be fixed in short time? Because in the classic functional-manual (other than in the 5G iPod manuals) the feature is not mentioned. So I assume Apple left out this feature intentionally
Thank you and best regards, Jens

And this is what I would like to ask you: Is there any hope that this issue will be fixed in short time?
Since non of us work for Apple we would have no idea.
But, the more people that let Apple know about this, the more chance we have of that feature being restored.

Hi. I am having an issue with music on my IPod. It would probably be easier to explain my specific issue: I have songs by Band of Horses from Cease to Begin. When viewing my albums through cover flow, it shows Cease To Begin as two separate albums, one with only Islands on the Coast, and the other having Islands on the Coast with 3 other songs. If I delete the album with only one song from my IPod, it deletes the song from the other "album" as well. If I go to "All Songs" by Band of Horses, it only shows one Islands on the Coast, so it is not a duplicate issue. Also, in Itunes, it only shows one album. I just recently updated to iOS5 on my 4th Gen IPod Touch, if that helps.

  • Cover flow and album sort issues

I just got a 80GB iPod classic for Christmas and I have noticed some annoying differences between iTunes cover flow and iPod cover flow:
    1. In iTunes cover flow, when you have songs with "Unknown Album", they clutter up the cover flow for each artist. In iPod cover flow, they are sent to the back of the cover flow in a nice little "Various Artists" cover. I like how this works on the iPod better.
    2. iTunes cover flow sorts by album artist, so you don't see a separate album for each non-album artist song.
For example: If I set my album artist for the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack to "Saturday Night Fever" (don't ask why, this is how i like it sorted) then I will only see one "Saturday Night Fever" rather than one for Bee Gees, one for Kool & the Gang, etc.
iPod cover flow sorts by artist, so you see a separate album for each non-album artist song. I like the way this works in iTunes better.
    3. When sorting by "Album by Year" in iTunes, syncing the iPod doesn't seem to follow the same sorting. Albums are still sorted on the iPod alphabetically. I want them to sort by year on my iPod.
So I would appreciate it if someone could help me with all 3 of these issues. As you can see, sometimes iTunes is better for me, sometimes iPod is better for me.

    3. Playlists should be sorted in the same way as they are in iTunes. The Cover Flow order is fixed.
This is not the case, at least not with iTunes 7.5.0.20 and my 80GB Classic running 1.0.3 on it (current version as of this writing). In iTunes, under LIBRARY, I select Music, and I have my music sorted via *Album by Year*. This works perfectly in iTunes. I'll use my Soundgarden library as an example, as it shows the problem nicely.
    *_iTunes order_:*
    Ultramega OK
    Louder Than Love
    Screaming Life/Fopp
    Badmotorfinger
    Superunknown
    Songs From The Superunknown
    Down on the Upside
    A-Sides
That's ordered by date and is perfect. +Ultramega OK+ was released way back in 1988, while A-Sides was released nearly 10 years later in 1997. In Cover Flow View it works great. However, in the iPod it's sorted alphabetically, which is completely wrong:
    *_iPod Classic_:*
    A-Sides
    Badmotorfinger
    Down on the Upside
    Louder Than Love
    Screaming Life/Fopp
    Songs From The Superunknown
    Superunknown
    Ultramega OK
This is totally wrong. And I haven't yet found a way to force it.
Apple, please, this shouldn't be that difficult.

  • TS1468 I am having trouble with two cover flows duplicating themselves more than once, is there anyone out there that can help me with this, they are not duplicated in my itunes library, just the ipod.

I am having trouble with two cover flows on my IPOD, duplicating themselves more than once, they haven't duplicated themselves in my Itunes library, just the ipod, could anyone have any ideas on how I could fix this problem. I have tried so many times, even if I restore the ipod, it still does the same thing. Please if possible email me at [email protected] with any suggestions.

    Aha! I have sorted it.
For those with similar problems, the solution is this:
Macintosh HD > Library > Audio > MIDI Drivers
    Then delete DigiDioMidiDriver.plugin
