Sorry server connection much slower

I have a CSS configured for server failover in one armed mode on the ouside Interface of PIX firewall.
During failover the secondary server is at DR site, so data path is through PIX to inside network across DS3 to DR PIX DMZ.
The path from PIX through inside network to PIX is encapsulated in a VPN tunnel for security of client information.
The secondary during failover is extremely slow from Internet.
I am thinking there could be an MTU issue and fragmentation.
pinging with "do not fragment" flag set shows only 990 bytes getting through without fragmentation.
Is there anything that can be done on the CSS to help this issue?

I wasn't thinking the CSS was causing the problem, but was asking if there was something that could be done if there is packet fragmentation.
The HQ side server responds normally, the DR on is slow.
I captured a trace from my workstation and can see fragmentation of the packets.

    hello,
    since yesterday my wifi connection is very slow. all my ios devices in the wifi network connect much slower than in 3g with sides and apps. my mbp is linked with the capsule with a cable. it worked fine for 2 years.
    any suggestions?

    Is the Internet connection of your wired MBP fine?  If so, then the problem may involve your local Wi-Fi.
    Use the advice in the second message of this thread to investigate the signal and noise levels that each client sees.  That will allow you to determine whether the problem is with low signal strength or noise.

  • Firefox much slower connecting to all web sites than Internet Explorer. Why?

    Over the last few weeks, Firefox has become much slower connecting to virtually all web sites that I frequent than does Internet Explorer. Nothing has changed on my computer other than occasional downloads of Firefox "improvements".

    A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
    Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • Why are SMB connections so much slower than AFP on my Mac Servers?

    I work in a school with a mix of Mac and PC clients and servers.  My Mac servers all serve out file sharing to both AFP and SMB.  When my Mac clients connect to the Mac servers via SMB, it takes several seconds, sometimes up to a minute before the login screen appears.  When I connect via AFP, the login window appears instantaneously.  I have also noticed that when the Macs connect to Windows servers, which are obviously SMB, the same long delay occurs.  It's manageable, but because it's so quick with AFP, I wonder why the delay?
    My biggest concern is that Yosemite connects via SMB by default.  Right now everyone is running Mavericks, which will still assume you're asking it to connect via AFP when you don't specify the afp:// in the address.  My Yosemite beta machine does the opposite, it assumes SMB when the address doesn't specify.  When all my clients make the switch next year, I'm expecting much longer than usual connection times for my mac users who are not technically inclined and who are used to just typing a word or phrase in the "Connect to:" dialog box, rather than an actual address (such as afp://server, they would currently just type "server" and it fills in the rest for them).
    Thanks for any help with this.  I would love to find out how to speed up the SMB connections.

  • WRT54G wired connection very slow

    I just installed my first wireless router last night (the WRT54G), and I got the wireless portion up and running, which is a success to me.  But I immediately noticed that my wired desktop connection to the internet is now much slower than before.  I've tried doing some of the suggestions I've read about on you forums, such as adjusting the MTU, using TCP optimizer, etc, and nothing seems to have helped.  I did an internet speed test and my upload speed is well over twice what my download speed is...seems like my settings are right in the upload direction, just not so much in the download direction *shrugs.*  I did read on one post to try turning the range boost off, I logged into the router but can't figure out how to toggle the range boost on or off.
    I'm sure this must be a somewhat common/frequent problem, it just seems that when I searched, most of the speed complaints had to do with the wireless connection rather than the wired one.  Any help on this would be much appreciated.  Thanks.

    Please state your ISP.
    My ISP is Mediacom (cable)
    Please state the make and exact model number of your modem.
    it is a WRT54G v8  Frimware ver v8.00.2,
    If you know the URL of the User Guide for your modem, please post it.
    My D-Link DCM-200 is apparently a discontinued product, so I don't know if I can help here.
    Connect the computer, by wire, directly to your modem.  Verify that you have a properly working Internet connection.  Then do the following:
    Go to "Start" > All Programs > Accessories > Command Prompt.
    A black DOS box will appear. Type in "ipconfig /all" (with no quotes), then hit the Enter key.  Post the results.

    Hi,
    Does it happens only on 1 wired computer?
    Try to wire some other computer and test it's download speed, and verify if it is issue with router and computer
    And then resolution can be thought of.
    I only have the one wired computer to test with, I haven't really tested the wireless speed yet; thought I'd tackle the wired problem before going for the wireless (if it's a problem)

  • Server connections interrupted??

    I've tried to get the proper forum, sorry if wrong.
    I was surfing on my macbook air when all of a sudden I get this 'pop-up' that looks like an Alert(?): A yellow triangle with an exclamation mark in it and it says: "Server Connections Interrupted" and below a picture of maybe a light blue 'book' with three white 'men' (figures) in it and next to it it said 'SharedDocs' and under that 'Owner', then I had the option of clicking either: 'Ignore' or 'Disconnect All' and lastly a 'eject' type of symbol
    But I never lost service, was I being hacked???I have a secure wi-fi
    I clicked the 'eject' type 'thing' and it went away....
    signed nervous

    I may be having this problem on my server. I have leopard on the router and tiger still on AFP on the internal server until I get time to upgrade. But I am not actually losing the connection. It just says that it is interrupted. This has gotten much worse lately.

    hi jessyb03,  welcome to the forum and sorry to learn that you are having this issue.
    Hope you are doing great otherwise thought
    Without having an understanding of the configuration that you are using is virtually impossible you me or anybody else in the forum to properly assist you, I will suggest for you to read this Post  and then please include as much information as possible to make it possible for others to actually have a change to formulate a theory and provide you with suggestions.
    There are some general steps that I can recommend to you in the mean time for you to try;
    Make sure that all this is in done.
    - Set an static IP Address for your printer, You will have to do your research to see what is the procedure to accomplish this is your OS, Router and other peripheral in this case most probably your printer.
    - Use Google public DNS Servers 8.8.8.8 and alternate 8.8.4.4 (the reason that I recommend this is because I have use them all the time and have not seem conflict of any kind)
    - Make sure that your printer have the most current firmware and software available for them (remember most of the updates in firmware and software are to FIX ISSUES and sometimes are to add functionality)
    - Make sure that your Operating system is updated (To a lesser extend this are also updated to FIX ISSUES although some times can create them as well, mostly they are update to patch security issues) it may be important.
    - Check if you can accomplish what you are trying to do with all security applications disable sometimes this applications will see and legit process as a thread and treat it as, if you find that this is the case you most to the research that to be able to allow the process being block to work with the current security applications you use.
    - If you are uninstalling some application try to do it in safe mode, In safe mode you OS will load basic and mostly critical drivers the same with applications that start with your operating system this way it may be easier to uninstall any software, application, utility or driver that you are trying to remove. This step is only needed if you are uninstalling something.
    The steps aforementioned will help establish that is not any of this circumstances creating the issue you are experiencing and is a more isolated issue. And if this is the case please post again with all relevant information please I reiterate this will give all visitor of the forum a good chance of the to understand and provide suggestions to you.
    Hope this helps;

  • Problem with scanning - printer display shows "Server connection error"

    My printer has been working great and I have had no problems with scanning.  But two days ago, all of a succen I rec'd message "server connection error".  I tried to send to email as well as computer.  Got the same message.  As usual, I don't recall any action on my part that could have caused this problem.    The copying and printing functions work fine. Detailed advice to someone technically challenged will be much appreciated.  Thank you.

    Ran
    into a problem with connecting to the DB on the SQL server from the IPAM server.  The Dba and I checked the target SQL instance was enabled TCP and listening on a valid TCP port.  SQL server was set to use port 1443 for incoming connections.
    IPAM was set by default to use 1433.
    Also used
    netstat-n to identify issue and verified 1443 on SQL server was
    being used.  Made the correction under the IPAM provisioning wizard and connected to the database.  Fixed.
    Important note I was able to connect to the database with a .udlfile
    without any issues
    Also note that 2012 R2 IPAM only supports 2012 SQL Enterprise.  Why?

  • My browser takes minutes to open then when the tab is fully loaded it will start saying "Connecting" and slow down or freeze.

    When I open my browser, it takes 3-5 minutes to fully open. When I get to a website, randomly the tab will say 'Connecting' and slow down and take 10-15 minutes to function or freeze completely. This almost always happens on sites that require Flash Player use. I have uninstalled and reinstalled my Flash several times. I've added memory, as someone suggested it was a memory issue. It's so frustrating, please help!

    A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

    Hi uday kumar,
    First thank you to tried to help me!
    --> So... I have a problem... in that checked that you asked, I donu00B4t have acess to all clients in system... Iu00B4m only able to login to client 000 and 100 and in that clients that two users SAPJSF and J2ee_admin donu00B4t exist!! But maybe in 001... I donu00B4t know!! Itu00B4s any other way to know that? I think through configtool in j2ee directory... but I donu00B4t get that, maybe because I donu00B4t have the JAVA part active!!
    --> And other thing, you recommed me to "Check the profile parameters once, try change the JVM setting and check were you able to start the server"...  What you want to say with JVM setting.. sorry Iu00B4m still newest in sap world... can you explain me better what you wanted to say..?! Thanks.
    --> Other think and the last... I checked the sapstartsrv.log in D:\usr\sap\PSM\SCS00\work directory path and in that it said this:
    trc file: "sapstartsrv.log", trc level: 0, release: "700"
    Mon Mar 09 11:13:46 2009
    <<- ERROR: SapSSLInit(read_profile=1)==SSSLERR_LIB_NOT_FOUND
    Can you help me?!... thanks a lot!

  • After upgrade to 10.6.8 Internet is much slower

    Hello, after upgrading to Mac OS X 10.6.8, my Internet works much slower, with all my browsers (Safari, Firefox, Chrome). I downloaded and installed the combo, and I switched IPv6 to off; both didn't work. (I have a DNS server in my list. There is enough disk space left.) Suggestions are highly appreciated.

    I found something that helped here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/15534126#15534126 but don't know why it helped...

  • Ever since updating my iPad with the iOS 8 and 8.0.2 it has been much slower in every way. Any suggestions besides restoring to last iOS?

    Ever since updating my iPad with the iOS 8 and 8.0.2 it has been much slower in every way. Any suggestions besides restoring to last iOS?

    Hi Arianelleangel,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!  If you are having issues trying to update your Aunt's iPad, the troubleshooting steps below may help:
    Resolve issues with an over-the-air iOS update - Apple Support
    Update does not complete
    If you're installing the update and the progress bar appears to move slowly, be patient. The time an update takes depends on the size of the update and the number of files on the device.
    When you're updating over the air, keep your device connected to a power source so that it doesn't run out of power. If your device does run out of power, connect it to a power source and turn on the device to let the update or restore complete.
    If the update never completes and the progress bar hasn't moved for an extended time, try restarting your device. If you still see the issue after you restart, see what to do if your device appears frozen or won't start.
    I hope this information helps ....

  • Parameterized queries running much slower than ones with hardcoded values

    Very often there is a huge performance difference when using parameters in a query, compared to running the same code after replacing the parameters with hardcoded values: the parameterized version of the code runs much slower!
    The case is not parameter sniffing as it is not a (compiled) stored proc, but code executed directly from the editor and the performance issue has been observed in different versions of SQL Server (2000 and 2005).
    How is this explained and how can the parameterized queries have similar performance with the hardcoded ones?
    Also, why does this happen in some cases and not always?
    Finally, the same is sometimes the case with stored procs: a very slow running proc speeds up tremendously when running its code directly, instead of calling the procedure --and even faster, according to the previous, when its parameters are replaced with
    hardcoded values

    >>The case is not parameter sniffing as it is not a (compiled) stored proc, but code executed >>>directly
    from the editor ?>>>and the performance issue has been observed in different >>>versions of SQL Server (2000 and 2005).
    Something like below?
    --SQL Server creates 3 execution plan rather only one
    DBCC FREEPROCCACHE
    GO
    SELECT *
    FROM Sales.SalesOrderHeader
    WHERE SalesOrderID = 56000

  • PHP Oracle connection randomly slow

    Hello,
    I have a very strange problem concerning the connection to a oracle database with php. Sometimes the same SQL-Statement takes a very long time to load for no obvious reason (more than 5 minutes). But if you try it later it pops up at once. During the waiting time Toad is just showing "SQL*Net message from client" for the session.
    Here the code:
    $db = "<connection string>";
    $c = oci_connect("user", "pwd", $db);
    $s = ociparse($c, "select content from database WHERE CATEGORY = '$category'");
    if(ociexecute($s)) {
    while (ocifetch($s))
    echo ociresult($s, "CONTENT");
    Maybe I should also mention that I'm using a page with frames with a navigation bar on the left which loads the code in the frame on the right with the variable $category. We are using Oracle9i Release 9.0.1 .
    I would really appreciate any help.

    Perceived slowness is something that is dealt with by using process called "tuning". Tuning process requires an extensive knowledge because it should go from end to end, starting with the application. There may be an issue with your application, database, operating system, middle tier or network and one has to know all of the above to be able to tune the application properly. It's always the application one tunes, because it's the application that makes the end users unhappy. In your posts, there is not enough information to even begin thinking about tuning, so I will outline the tuning process for you. One always begins the tuning process by blaming the network and by letting the network engineers use sniffer and dig out the slow component. Typical response from the network people is "network is OK but the server XXX is slow with responses
    and that's what causing the timeouts"). Now you know where the problem is so you can concentrate on a single server and figure out what the problem is. Whatever the problem is, it is usually solved by improving the cache hit ratio by increasing the SGA. Network engineers are
    used to that and they do not mind, but if you want to be mr. nice guy, you can go directly to your boss and ask him for more memory. That is so called modified method C, by Cary Millsap. That is why it's called "method C".

  • Crystal Reports - Oracle server connection

    Hi Guys,
    I'm back to struggling with Crystal Reports XI Release 2.
    I'm trying to display a report that retrieves a set of data from an oracle database.
    I've got the following scenarios:
    - If I build a report using a JDBC connection and setting its properties from the crystal reports designer It works perfectly
    - If i build the same report using a connection type called Oracle Server and check the option SAVE DATA WITH REPORT works fine
    - The failure scenario is, creating the same report by using an Oracle server connection and disabling the SAVE DATA WITH REPORT option. I get the error message: Database logon failed. Database Vendor Error Code: 17002
    I've set a JDNI datasource in Tomcat already, and still getting the same error, as well as including this tag in my application web.xml
    <resource-ref>
    <description>Oracle Datasource example</description>
    <res-ref-name>oraclevt</res-ref-name>
    <res-type>javax.sql.DataSource</res-type>
    <res-auth>Container</res-auth>
    </resource-ref>
    Please, let me know if you have any hint regarding this issue as I've run out of ideas to sort it out.
    Thank you.
    Esteban.

    Hey evnafets how r u doing? Thanks very much for your reply.
    I checked the TNSName and looks fine, and it does match the JNDI name I created through the Tomcat Administration Tool.
    I tested the JNDI connection a couple of days ago and it didn't come through, it keeps giving me an error, even though I've verified everything is properly set and configured. The error message is:
    org.apache.commons.dbcp.SQLNestedException: Cannot create JDBC driver of class '' for connect URL 'null'
    This is the snipped code, si quite simple actually.
    System.out.println("Starting initial context");
                   Context initCtx = new InitialContext();
                   Context envCtx = (Context) initCtx.lookup("java:comp/env");
                   DataSource ds = (DataSource)
                   envCtx.lookup("jdbc/OFIC09FL");
                   Connection conn = ds.getConnection();
                   //... use this connection to access the database ...
                   conn.close();
    I've googled this issue and have not found a helpful solution. I guess this all the Crystal connection issue, don't you think? Any hints to make the jsp-jndi test work?
    Regards,
    Esteban.
