I agree with the sentiment that it is cr@p.
They have a list of banned words in OTN forums - to counter spam (in a rather idiotic fashion of trying to fix the problem by curing the symptom).
The list includes words like (spelling mangled to counter the banned word filter) dis-count, sh0es, r#gby and so on.
It is utterly frustrating to write a phrase like +"in your sh0es+" or "+do not dis-count using feature foo+" and OTN Jives telling you the content is not acceptable.
Please let OTN admin know about your dissatisfaction on the Community Feedback (No Product Questions).
In the meantime - remove any words from your posting that you think can be used in a spam posting to sell something like sh0es at a dis-count.

When sending from one mac email account to another email account on the mac it seems to send fine, and it moves to the sent items, but nothing appears in the mac inbox.
When sending from a mac account to the pc, it seems to send fine, and it moves to the sent items, but nothing appear in the PC inbox.
When sending a massage from the PC to my mac email, it send fine from the PC and arrives in the inbox on the mac.
mac to mac - seems to send but dosent arrive
mac to pc - seems to send but doesnt arrive
pc to mac - seems to send and arrives.
As i said it was all working fine yesterday and for four years previous to that, but now it has just stopped.

How can I view the content of the message without having to double click on it; I used to be able to see content of the message next to it .
Is this in Mail?
You can (I do all the time). The oreview window can be resized by dragging the message list window border - you might accidentally have closed it up -
Cannot install Mavks. Get the message that HD is used for Time Machine B/U. Not true. Also Time Machine is turned off. Running OS 10.8.5.
That message appears when there's a "Backups.backupdb" folder in the root level of the OS X volume. This folder is used by Time Machine to store backups, being this the reason why the OS X Mavericks installer detects the OS X partition as used by Time Machine.
To delete it, open a Finder window, select the Go menu (on the menu bar) > Go to Folder, and type:

Cannot attach multiple photos using the ' Message ' option iOS 5.0.1 in ' Photos ' app.
Since i have updated my iPhone 4 to iOS 5.0.1 i cannot attach multiple photos using the ' Message ' option in the ' Photos ' app.
i browse my photos and then select ' Message ' on a photo. i am then able to attach the first image to the message.
When i then select the Camera icon on the created message to add another image , either ' Choose existing ' or ' Take Photo or Video ' , it does nothing and takes you back to your existing message.
I am able to attach multiple images when accessing the iMessage app it is just from the Photos app it is occuring

I am trying to install Acrobat XI Pro. On my Mac, I get the message, "Please close the following applications to continue: - Safari. Safari is closed, but I can't get past this screen. Each time I click "Retry", the message reappears.
TErminate the processes in activity monitor an/ or configure Safari tomnot use the quick launcher and automatic update check so that those processes aren't used to begin with.

A lot will depend on what "accessory" the message is "not optimized". I get this message when my Mophie Juicepack is depleted, recharge it and no problems. Till the next time it is drained of course. That might give you hint of the issue. If you tell use what device you might be using when you get that message, we might have a different suggestion.

Sorry this is not tech related...Regarding the o2 18 month contract.
Just to say right off the bat that I have NO wish to unlock the i-phone.
However, from what I understand (please correct me if I am wrong).
The only way to use the i phone when it is released in the UK is via o2's 18 month contract.
So once the 18 months is up on the contract and I choose to cancel the contract, how will I still be able to make calls, because the i phone is locked only to the o2 contract tariff when you first set up the i phone.
Legally,I thought that in the UK, once a contract is passed it's minimum term you could contact the network provider for them to unlock the phone to any network (sometimes for a fee).
What I'm really trying to say is that once my 18 month contract with o2 UK is up, will they have a legal obligation to unlock my i phone to other networks.

I'm really tempted to get an i phone on the 9th but I just need investigate as much as possible before I take the plunge...I think you are partly right, but partly wrong.
I believe that you have the right to buy yourself out of your contract term with your network. To be a little more precise, I think you have the right to take your number with you whenever you want. You may still have to pay O2 for the remaining term of the contract, subject to what your contract terms say. The contract terms usually have the kind of 'get out' that you describe, but this of course depends entirely on the contract terms you have agreed to.
Where I think you have it wrong is what happens to your hardware - the phone. I'm not aware of anything that requires a network to facilitate the unlocking of your phone. Think of it this way. If you buy a decoder box for NTL cable tv, you can't complain to the manufacturer or NTL if you later decide to use that decoder box for Virgin tv only to find it doesn't work. (perhaps not the best example, but I hope you see what I mean).
I agree this is a concern. I may be happy to go with O2 for now, and for 18 months. But I'm not so happy at the prospect of having to bin my iPhone if I want to move to Orange at the end of my 18 month contract. I'm relying (hoping) that consumer pressure, and the changing market, will have sorted this by the end of my 18 month contract. In 18 months time, if Apple and O2 require customers to either stick with O2 or bin their iPhone it will be a real reputation killer. -
woke up this morning could not connect to my email. Message just says unable to connect to server, hopefully someone can help me resolve this issue.
Cannot connect to the incoming server, or were you trying to send mail? Who is your email provider? Have you checked email settings? Try a reset first, hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until you see the Apple logo and then release. After the phone restarts, check again. Are you showing a signal for cellular data, or a wifi signal if you are on wifi?

I use Yahoo Mail. When I open up an email in Firefox, the content is not there. All I get is blank space. How do I fix this?
First have you backed up your computer, if you have and your iPhoto library is in the back up you have nothing to be concerned about. If you are not using at least Time Machine to back up your system then you should be concerned because well frankly that is simply bad computing practice and you risking all of your data.
As for the message you received all that means is your system was using an earlier version of iPhoto with the version of OS X you previously had installed and now that you have updated to 10.9.2 (Mavericks) your version of iPhoto has also upgraded and needs to get ready to import all of your pictures. If you have backup then you should be confident the upgrade will go through smoothly, Apple generally has very good instructions and will not give bad advice, second guessing them may be cautious but is generally unnecessary. -
If I post my book to iBooks does this mean I cannot sell my book at the same time on Kindle?
I do not understand lawyer speak. Apple's EULA confuses me. It's a simple question. If I sell my book on Kindle through Amazon does this mean I cannot simultaneouslty sell the same book on iBook?

What do you mean by "Apple's iBook EULA"? Are you referring to the document entitled "Software License Agreement for IBooks Author"? If not, what exactly?
The iBooks Author license agreement has nothing to say about (and no relevance to) books you create with some other software. It also places no restrictions on books you create with iBooks Author but not in the .ibooks format (which format can only be read on an iPad in any case). The other formats which iBooks author can produce are PDF and Text. -
Cannot enable Java content in the browser
I have a mcbpro running OS X 10.10. I installed Java 8 update 25 on the mac and it installed a Java preference pane in the system preferences. If I wish to enable Java in the browser, I open the Java preference pane, select the security tab, and tick the box "Enable Java content in the browser". I am then asked to enter my administrator password. After doing this the setting is not saved.
I have also installed the same Java version on an iMac and I do not get this behaviour. I have checked disk permissions but there were no issues found. Any suggestions?Hi Nubz,
Thx for the suggestion. I tried to fix the problem with Java 8 hoping that it may be safer to use Java 8 rather than the older version of Java 6 (not that I trust any Java version; I only need to enable it for a specific site). I have actually solved the problem this afternoon by deleting:
/Library/Application Support/Oracle
~/Library/Application Support/Oracle
Reinstalling Java 8.
I suspect that the Oracle folders were remainders of the previous Java 7 installation I had in Mavericks (before I upgraded to Yosemite) and were somehow incompatible.
