Can anyone help with this ...
When I click on itunes, a message appears saying : The file 'iTunes Library.itl' cannot be read beacuse it was created by a newer version of iTunes.
Does anyone know what this means and how I can fix it? I've read other posts but I haven't come across anoyone with the same problem. Pleeeaasssee reply, I really need iTunes to work so I can use my new ipod!

The file 'iTunes Library.itl' cannot be read beacuse it was created by a newer version of iTunes.
(furrowed brow) people usually get that message if they've "rolled back" from certain higher versions of itunes to certain lower versions of itunes.
what version of itunes do you currently have installed? (you can find out if necessary by heading into the "itunes" folder inside your "program files" folder, right-clicking on the "itunes" icon and selecting "Properties", and clicking on the "version" tab.)
if you did roll back, what version did you roll back from?
did you have a problem with that version? if so, could you describe it for us?

I've had my iPod mini for almost a year now, and just yesterday my friend had bought me a new iPod. So I plugged it in and it said I needed a higher version of Itunes so, so I went and downloaded that from the site. But after Itunes worked for 15 minutes I had to shut the computer off, and when I came back on Itunes refused to open. Instead I got one of those error messages and it said "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." But my question was how can iTunes be forced to close if it hasn't even opened? I've tried repairing it several times and have failed. I've also deleted and reinstalled it and have failed. I tried reinstalling it again by using the disk that came with the iPod, and failed. Lastly I did that edwo malware remover scan, but still my Itunes is not opening. How can I fix this problem? Please help.

Try to go through the set up once again.
If that doesnt work, check your virus protection and under internet apps or some such thing, make sure itunes is not blocked from the internet.
Most cases it's not the internet that's the issue it's the program itself, but if this is bugging you, I suggest you at least make sure.

I duplicated a document created originally in new pages 5.1 and exported that copy to the older pages '09. I see the document listed in the old pages but my computer refuses to open it demanding I download the newer pages app... which I have. Now what?

I am able to open the document through finder, but I can't with Pages '09.

I have the latest operating system on my '09 macbook pro. My old pages is pages '09.
When this document was created I didn't realize I did it under Pages 5.1, which I now realize is limited in capabilities so it can speak to iOS devices through iCloud.
I duplicated that file, renamed it "Yardening copy" and exported to Pages '09. I see the file in the pages listing, but when I try to open it there I get a warning that I need to download the new Pages 5.1... which I have on my computer. I even tried to email it to myself hoping that might work on a lark, but the file is too larg being that it includes pictures.
I can find the copy via finder, and yes, double click it and it opens... but I'm assuming it is using Pages 5.1 to do so.
Do I really have to copy and past all the info on this document onto a new Pages '09 document where I want to maintain my master library of documents?

Itunes cannot sync due to lack of space on iphone, but itunes also indicates 8GB free?

So im trying to sync my phone to itunes, and it clearly says there's 7-8 gb free in the space bar on the itunes iphone window. However whenever i try and sync it tells me I need 500 mb of additional space.
Anyone come across this problem before?

I have this exact problem, but with slightly different figures. When I originally tried to install CoPilot (which is about 1.5 Gb) there was about 4 Gb free, but the install continually failed due to lack of space on the iPhone (16 Mb 3G). I had to remove a load of music to get enough space to install.
Now there's a CoPilot update and with even 3.5Gb available on the phone, I just get that same error and it won't install. I then deleted CoPilot so there was almost 5 Gb free and tried again and I think it is now OK (currently sync'ing, but very slow).
I don't think this is a CoPilot issue as many users seem to be experiencing similar problems with other apps. I think perhaps it's more likely with CoPilot because it is relatively large. But the fact remains that the iPhone seem to need more than 3 times the size of the app in order to even update it which is truly a PIA and takes a lot of messing about to get around the problem.
Anyone know of a fix to this? I guess it's really a bug and needs to be reported to iPhone feedback).

ITunes Setup downloads iTunes 7, but iTunes 7 won't open, no error message

So I've been at this for months, trying to update my iTunes from 6 to 7, and previous versions have opened on my laptop, but this time, NO! I've downloaded the setup for 7, it loads the program and we restart the computer so that it can get the new parameters straight, so then I try to open iTunes and the mouse pointer gives me the hourglass and the iTunes icon flickers and turns to a white box for a split second and back to the regular icon. The program doesn't open, I don't see an error message, nothing. I got an Ipod nano for Christmas and I can't use it because it needs iTunes 7! Has anyone had this problem? I've read so many threads and topics here but I haven't seen any answers to this one!
I've tried reinstalling it and deleting it and reinstalling it. I've also just tried updating using the Apple Software Updater (instead of downloading from the Apple website) and it gives me an error. Hmmm... I guess I should figure out what that error says too. But anyway, I need help!

Why does itunes also try to open in my inactive desktop (wndows7)

When I plug my apple device into my (windows 7 home) computer; ipod nano or iphone 5 (ios 7) itunes tries to open not only on my desktop but also on a desktop in the background. this causes interference when trying to sync my device to the computer. I hear error sounds and when I open the other desktop I will find several messages telling me that I cant open more than one copy of itunes at a time on the computer. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled itunes but this has not fixed the problem. I also have tried closing the other desktop, and this does work but I am concerned about the underlying problem - that maybe something is crossed between the 2 desktops?? This has been a issue on this computer for over a year. any suggestions?

As you have pointed out, the message told you that you cannot have two copies of iTunes open at one time. So uninstalling and reinstalling will not achieve anything.

It's been this way as long as I have used iTunes on two user accounts (and that's several years). My only suggestion is that you close iTunes on one user account before opening it on the other account. It's what I do.

Open Finder. Go to the "Go" menu in the menu bar. Press and hold Control and click on Library. Go to "Preferences". Find a file named, "com.apple.iTunes.plist" and delete that file. This won't delete your iTunes content. It will reset iTunes. Try it again.

Have downloaded ver 7 but itunes now will not open

Have downloaded the latest version of itunes but this will not open and i get an error message to say that the folder cannot be found and points me to my music. All my music is in that folder but I cannot get itunes to load. have tried to uninstall and reinstall but this still happens....please could somebody help?

with that one, the best place to start is with the following document:
iTunes for Windows: "Disk is locked" or "iTunes folder cannot be found" when installing or opening iTunes

ITunes suddenly refuses to open

I'm looking for some help with my iTunes. I have windows 7 and have been running iTunes on it for months now. Just today I attempted to open iTunes and a few messages came up saying that I'm missing CoreVideo.dll, CoreAudioToolbox.dll, that there are problems with QuickTime, and that I need access to some key thing. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling but I keep getting error messages about some key. I'm boiling in frustration and just want my iTunes to work again. If anyone can offer some help I'd greatly appreciate it.

Does it delete the old Preferences (plist) file?
If you reinstall an app on a Mac to try to fix it, if the Prefs are wonky and you don't delete them too, nothing will improve...
Many times all you need to do is delete the Prefs file (the app will automagically create a new one] and the problem is fixed!

I just updated my Mac OS to Yosemite. Every other program is working fine, but not Photoshop. I've tried everything mentioned in the forums, including updating the JAVA program, a restart and still PS will not open, giving me a "An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has just occurred. Photoshop will now exit." warning. HELP! I rely very heavily on this program and my attempts to obtain help from Adobe have been utterly futile.
