sorting is the "domain" of TT2. check his post/tips here and here.

Sorting TV shows by Episode number instead of alphabetically.
I have an 80GB classic. I have loaded 3 seasons of the office onto it, and each season is seperated, which is great, but inside of each season the episodes are sorted aphabetically and not in order of the episodes. After I uploaded them I went into the info section and set the season and episode number for each one. Any help would be appreciated.
I am having the same exact problem after a recent iTunes update (10.5.x). My episodes used to be sorted by episode #, but all of a sudden they were sorting by episode ID.
No problem, I went through and changed the episode ID to match episode #.
This fixed about 75% of my shows, mostly those I ripped from DVD's myself.
What is still screwed up is my iTunes store purchased shows. I have tried every sorting tab and tag combination I can think of, and they still remain firmly sorted by some unknown factor (it is NOT episode id, # or release date or alphabetically by name even).
The shows appear sorted perfectly in iTunes. It is only on my iPod classic 120GB that this is showing up. I have also tried removing and reloading the problem shows on my iPod.
I am thinking of resetting my iPod to factory then reloading my entire library, but what a pain...
Apple please fix this!!! -
IPod Classic sorting TV episodes incorrectly???
Hi,
I have an iPod Classic that is listing TV episodes by release date insread of episode number.
A Nano synced with the same content has arranged everything by episode number.
Both iPod's are normally synced to indows computers, but the video content was from a MacBook.
There is a lot of chatter about this issue, though no solutions.
Can anybody help?I've found out some more since my last post in this thread...
As of firmware 1.0.3 it appears that TV shows are ordered by release date. Sadly the iTunes interface does not provide a way to update these values but there are 3rd party tools that can help. Lostify apparently does the trick for Mac users, though I've no practical experience being stuck in the PC universe. PC users might like to try Tagger....
Tagger needs a bit of effort to get working so for PC users I'll share my experience. The download is RAR compressed so first you need an unpacker for that - I plumped for 7-Zip. Tagger relies on a working Java RunTime Envionment, not just the browser plug-ins so I headed off to java.sun.com for the *JDK 6 Update 3*. Once Tagger is up & running it's still not clear exactly how you are supposed to enter the date but further seaching revealed that it should be in the format YYYY-MM-DD. The good news is, it works! I've only done one of my series so far but the episodes are now in the correct order. Tagger also includes options to change all sorts of other hidden attributes which aren't exposed in the iTunes interface, e.g. Podcast details, ratings etc.

Viewing Episode number in iTunes
I have just added a couple of TV show episodes to iTunes and in the Get Info box I can type in the season and episode number, but I can't get iTunes to show the episode number, only the season number. Is there a way to get it to do this?
ThanksWhen you put the season and episode numbers into the Video tab, its just for iTunes's sorting system. For it to show up in the list so you can read it, you need to put the episode number in the "Track Number" field in the Info tab, and the season number after the title in "Album."
If you've bought any TV shows from the iTunes Store, do "Get Info" on them to see the pattern, and then put the info into your new shows along those lines. -
I am so done with this. 8,000 songs on my iTunes app and now I only have 256 songs!! I purchased a new computer and had backed up all my content onto an external hard drive. When I downloaded the content onto the new computer, I was unable to access my music for 90 days!! What a bunch of BS! $8,000 down the drain, just like that. This is ludicruis! I have tried to contact support but they require some sort of serial number, don't have one, this is not an Apple computer. So their support ***** as they only give you one option to contact them. I still have my content on the back up but am afraid to re-download in fear I won't have access to the material for another 90 days! Has anyone else had this problem? I feel like I've been ripped off!
Oh, right, in order for me to post this message I had to select a community. If I don't, it won't post it. What a bunch of control freaks! I'm just going to select one to get this posted and hopefully, someone can help me.Try:

TV Shows in Album VIew Not Sorted By Episode
I just downloaded iTunes 7.1 and my TV episodes are no longer sorted by episode when I'm in album view. They are correctly sorted by season, however. Does iTunes now use the EpisodeID instead of the Episode # to sort, because I put in the names of the episodes for the EpisodeID?
Check out this thread for a discussion on my problem.

After i upgraded to iOS 6 my ipod touch has been putting all my tv shows episodes in alphabetical order instead of episode number order. I have tried a few things to put it back to normal but they just wont go back into the right order. Its really annoying if i am starting to watch something and then want to go onto the next ep on my ipod and its really annoying having to go through around 20 eps to find the next one.. Its the same on my brothers ipad. Except they dont have the episode numbers on them at all. If anyone has a solution on how to fix this it would be great. I might end up going to apple and asking myself when i get my ipad to show them excatly. If its a bug in the iOS it really needs to be fixed.
Have you looked at the previous discussions listed on the right side of this page under the heading "More Like This"?

Interactive report sort text as number
Hello,
I was wondering if it is possible in an Apex interactive report to sort text as number?
For example, a series of text rows:
4
10
2
would sort as:
10
2
4
if it were text. What I would like to see is:
2
4
10
How could this be done?
Thanks.If your column contains numbers only, you could use TO_NUMBER (column_name) column_name to convert it to a numeric value and it will sort it properly.

Simple sorting by track number
Hi. I have a little annoyance with the way things are sorted.
If I'm viewing an album, the magical first column (with no name) shows a 1 to n playlist number. It does not seem to be possible to sort by this number, and the tracks are force sorted according to one of the other 'named' columns.
I have have to enable the 'track #' column and sort by it, rendering the first column useless. How can I
a) sort by the un-named column's number
or
b) add the 'track #' column, sort by it, and disable the un-named column.
This image hopefully shows what I mean:
http://www.badgerparade.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/badcolumn.gif
Thanks for any help.
Windows XP ProGo to the location of the track on your PC, not iTunes, right click on the track and go to PROPERTIES, then DETAILS, and then unde MEDIA click # (track number) and make sure you set the track numbers in order. Its too bad you have to do it individually for all tracks but there has got to be a way to set track numbers for all tracks with one click. Okay, so as long as all the track numbers are in order 1,2,3... or however you want them to be because thats how iTunes sorts them. YOU MUST do this before you create a playlist in iTunes and if you already did, you may have to delete all tracks and follow the instrustions and then load em up in iTunes again. Hope this helps.

Script to rename tv show with season and episode number
Hi all,
I am working on a script to rename all the files of a tv show contain into a single folder - keeping season & episodes numbers.
I am using zenity to get the correct name of the tv show (mainly to add capital letters, and remove the dots - and also to be able to use the script for different tv show)
then again using zenity to select which folder contain the files, and then I want zenity to display how the rename will do as a verification and if happy then process.
The script work great but I can get zenity to display the output of the command and ask the question.
Any suggestion?
Many thanks,
Regards,
#!/bin/bash
#Use Zenity to capture the title of the TV Show
tv_show_name=$(zenity --entry)
#Select folder where the files to be rename are
sourcefolder=$(zenity --file-selection --directory --title "Please select the folder containing those Files")
#Move into the folder
cd $sourcefolder
#Now we execute the script to keep season and episode numbers
if [ $? == 1 ]; then exit; fi
for filename in *; do
if [[ "$filename" =~(\**).*(.*[0-9][0-9]).*([0-9][0-9]).*(\....)$ ]]; then
result=$(`echo mv "$filename" "$tv_show_name S${BASH_REMATCH[2]} E${BASH_REMATCH[3]}${BASH_REMATCH[4]}"`)
zenity --question --title="Are those title correct?" \
--text=$result \
if [[ $? -eq 0 ]] ; then exit; fi
else
mv "$filename" "$tv_show_name S${BASH_REMATCH[2]} E${BASH_REMATCH[3]}${BASH_REMATCH[4]}")
fi
done
exitRight,
I finally got it!
Now the script work (tested with multiple files, different names) and the verification is to a singles files just to be sure not the mess up those episodes number.
#!/bin/bash
#Use Zenity to capture the title of the TV Show
tv_show_name=$(zenity --entry)
#Select folder where the files to be rename are
sourcefolder=$(zenity --file-selection --directory --title "Please select the folder containing those Files")
#Move into the folder
cd "$sourcefolder"
#Now we execute the script to keep season and episode numbers
if [ $? == 1 ]; then
exit
fi
for filename in *; do
if [[ "$filename" =~(\**).*(.*[0-9][0-9]).*([0-9][0-9]).*(\....)$ ]]; then
result=$(echo mv \"$filename\" \"$tv_show_name S${BASH_REMATCH[2]} E${BASH_REMATCH[3]}${BASH_REMATCH[4]}\")
zenity --question --title="Are those title correct?" \
--text="$result" \
if [[ $? == 0 ]] ; then
mv "$filename" "$tv_show_name S${BASH_REMATCH[2]} E${BASH_REMATCH[3]}${BASH_REMATCH[4]}"
fi

done

Hi,
I'm searching the web to find the definition of the Episode ID in iTunes. What's the meaning of this field?
Also, in the list view in iTunes, is there a way to display the Episode number? in the CMD-J window I can see Episode ID, but not Episode number.
ThanksEpisode ID would probably be the equivalent of episode Number for you. Really an episode ID is internal to identify one episode from the others. It mostly consists of the code indicating the season and episode # (the premier being 01 and so on). I format like this: 01x01 for season 1, episode 1, and so on.

Prior to upgrading to 3.2, all of my TV episodes would show the season number followed by the episode number. This info would appear below the file name and above the episode duration. Now all that is displayed is the season number.
I've checked in iTunes and all the info is filled in relating to episode info. Is there some option I'm missing or has upgrading removed this handy feature.Hi,
I am facing an unexpected problem here
<?xdoxslt:set_variable(_XDOCTX,’INCR’,0)?>
<?for-each: LIST_G_TRX_DTL/G_TRX_DTL?>
<?if:OPERATION_LINE = 0?><?xdoxslt:set_variable(_XDOCTX,’INCR’,xdoxslt:get_variable(_XDOCTX,’INCR’) + number(1))?><?end if?>
<?OPERATION_LINE?> ==<?xdoxslt:get_variable(_XDOCTX,’INCR’) + (OPERATION_LINE) div 10?>
<?end for-each?>
if the operation line value is 10 then the value will be added with 1 but i need to be added with .01
can we change the above logic in a way that if operation line is 0 then it will be incremented with 1 if it is not equal to 0 it will be incremented by 0.1 with the previous value.without using (OPERATION_LINE) div 10 -

Sort Mail by Number of Messages per Sender
Is it possible to sort mail by the number of messages per sender, in descending order with the the greatest number on top, etc. and if so, how?
Thank you!At the moment you can do this using the "setmsgperconnect" command, however the setting is global so it will apply to all destinations, not just Yahoo. From what we've seen at other customers the impact of dropping this to 5 for all destinations is generally not noticeable.
We're considering adding this into destination config, although at this stage there's no ETA on it. -
