Sort images bei date and time

Hi,
I'm sure that I have a stupid problem, but it is a problem for me.
I imported photos from 2 different cameras in one folder and try to sort them by the exposure date.
Now I have in the first part all images from camera one (format DNG) and behind all these photos the images from camera two (format NEF).
How could I solve this problem?
Inside each group the images are well sorted.
Thanks for your help, Frank

For anyone else hunting for the sort options (as I was when I stumbled onto this thread), From Library View click on View>Sort> then pick your options.
I also use Expanded Cell Options (right click any image in the library and click View Options).
- Under the Options I view the Basefilename,  Capture Date/Time;    Folder,  and Cropped Dimensions
If any images are lacking the capture date/time (happens for some edited images) I can see that immediately and understand why the sort is not proceeding as expected.
Hope this helps.

  • Sort by Creation Date and TIME!

I need to sort hundreds of images taken by three photographers and on six different cameras. I sort by Image Date, but it keeps each photographers images together, seems to sort by DATE only, then by file name.
I have used iView Media Pro to sort this way and it is a GREAT way to organize this type of work. Is there a way to refine how Aperture 1.5.1 does this type of sort?
At this point, my option appears to be to export my final picks, then resort and rename them in iView Media Pro.

In the browser section, I clicked on the list view (control-L is the shortcut) and then clicked on the "Image Date" header, and saw all my images sorted by date AND time. Is this what you're looking for? If all the photographers shot on the same date and time, then they'd be intermingled I suppose, but if the times were separated, this should work. Give it a shot anyway.

  • Ipod Touch shows two dates and times on the sleep screen/locked screen

First off i have the new ipod touch and i got it this christmas.since a couple weeks ago on the sleep screen/locked screen(the screen that appears when you hit the button on top of ipod) it shows the current date and time but in the background of that time it also sais 7:12 January 6 2010. It has said that for about two weeks. Also i noticed that when you slide the unlock bar over you can still see the slider in the background at the original position. One last thing has been happening with the volume when listening to music. When i try to turn it up i slide the volume button to the right to make it louder and when i let got it just slides back and does not get louder. What is going on.

I had the same problem with double image of date and time and also the unlock arrow. I found out that the problem was that I had, without knowing it, taken a snapshot of my wallpaper screen and saved it back to my saved photos. When I used that wallpaper image again, there was the dual image of time and date. All I had to do was change wallpaper! Good luck!

  • When I create a calendar, in iphoto 8, I had an information pane lower left corner with date and time of the picture. Can it possibly be that the iphoto developers forgot about that in iphoto 9? This was very helpful when placing images according to date.

Today I updated to the latest iphoto version. The update itself went smooth and nice as one is used to from Apple. But when I wanted to finish my already started calendar, I have encountered two problems. The first is that I can't view the aperture library anymore directly from iphoto. Instead I have to open the iphtoto library in aperture but then my calendar isn't there. So now I have to copy images back and forth. No problem.
However, the old iphoto had a small information area in the lower left corner which was very nice to place images on an exact date. This seems to be gone...?? Really? How am I supposed to sort images according to date and time when I have to back to the library view every time? That's not very convenient..Or am I missing something?
    Thanks for ANY help!
    Patrick

The first is that I can't view the aperture library anymore directly from iphoto.
THat is exceeding strange since iPhoto '08 could not open or share an Aperture library - that ability was first introduced in iPhoto '11 - with the latest version of iPhoto and or Aperture you can open the same library with either application - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5043
In the current version of iPhoto the photos are sorted by date in the film strip - I've not recently done a calendar so do not remember the specifics -

  • How can I sort pictures by date and than by time stamp ?

The approx. 2.000 pictures was taken by two cameras.
Both cameras intern date and time where adjusted before the for session.
It seems that Aperture 3.3.1 can´t manage it, can it?
In the browser there is only one common field for date and time.
I shoot the picture with two Canon 5D Mark II and Mark-III in JPG and RAW mode.
The file name only is totally confusing for sorting.
    Like IMG_0008, _MG_0022 for Mark-II
    and
    _L2A8410 for Mark-III.

    Hi,
I am not sure, which sort order you want to achieve? If you sort by the date field, the images will be sorted chronologically, ascending or descending, according to date and time - isn't what what you want?
Can it be that you have a time zone problem? Compare the dates on the images that should be sorted side by side.
Unless you specify "Camera Time" and "Actual Time" on import, Aperture will assume that the camera time has been your current system time.
Canon 5D Mark II and Mark-III
And unfortunately, both your cameras are exactly the two cameras that I know, where the time zone correction in Aperture is buggy and does not have much effect. I cannot find the discussion again right now, but look for a thread by Frank Caggiano on time zone correction.

  • How to eliminate date and time in image logging in vision express

I am using vision express to capture a set number of images with inline processing. I am opting to log the images to a specified folder. However, the file names of the images have the date and time appended by default. Is there a way to eliminate the date and time in the images' file name? Please help.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi
It may help if you paste your code and file to better understand what is it that you want to remove from the file. If you have the vision development module, you can certainly use the File VIs available within the vision tools utilities palette in LabVIEW to manipulate the way you save your files.
     http://www.ni.com/pdf/manuals/371007a.pdf (Page14)
There is a good example code you can refer to within the following forum link:
    http://forums.ni.com/t5/LabVIEW/Labview-IMAQ-VI-for-capturing-images-and-saving-with-incremental/td-...
Also if you have access to the Vision Builder for Automated Inspection software, this application offers you that option:

  • Aperture 2: malfunction when adjusting image date and time

    Hello,
When I'm adjusting date and time for a group of images the following malfunction occurs:
The time is shifted by the difference between first and last image into the past, if the first image is the active one and into the future, if the last image is the active one.
    E.g.:
    Original: 23.02.08-12:00:00, 23.02.08 - 12:02:00, 23.02.08 - 12:05:00
Correction of first image to 20.02.08 - 12:00:00
    Result: 20.02.08 - 11:55:00, 20.02.08 - 11:57:00, 20.02.08 - 12:00:00

    With Update 2.0.1 it's solved.

  • Image date and time incorrect in finder

I just noticed after inserting an SD card in my Macbook Pro the date and times on the images do not match the date and time taken.  Taking a new image a few minutes prior to inserting the card, finder sets the time back 6 hours.  I've checked the settings on my Fuji XT-1 and also in system preferences and they are the same.
Importing the images into Aperture, the dates and times do match to when the images were actually taken.  Any ideas?

Hey Seth, a little late but I hope you're subscribed to this post, I have a lot easier way to do that, no 3rd party.
Open System Preferences then select International, click on format, under Dates section click customize. On the Show line select "medium" and copy the whole line underneath (which can be change by selecting the little white arrows on it), cancel that window to close it. Then on the "Times" section click customize, choose medium from "Show" line and paste at the end on the line, close preferences and voilà!
When you paste, items on the line can be arranged and moved positions at will and change from one digit to two digits format, etc.

  • Sorting Date and Time

    Hi Everyone,
I have requirement to sort date and time fiields in an internal table.
The internal table looks something like this during runtime.
Line  Objectclass      UDATE            UTIME   OBJECTID         CHANGENR   CHANGE_IND
    8     ISU_EEIN     20080305     144814     000000000111     0000035262       I
    9     ISU_EEIN     20080305     145735     000000000112     0000035281       I
    10     ISU_EEIN     20080305     151418     000000000113     0000035319       I
    11     ISU_EEIN     20080305     154931     000000000114     0000035378      I

    14     ISU_EEIN     20080306     095028     000000000113     0000035450       U

    16     ISU_EEIN     20080306     133532     000000000118     0000035628      I
Now if you observe Line 10 and Line 14.
OBJECT ID has two entries. One with Change_Ind 'I' on 05.03.2008 and 'U' on 06.03.2008 ,
so here I need to have only ie... Line 14 for objectid 113 after sorting and deleting.
The current sort stmt which i am using is not solving the purpose,
Can you guys help me as how to achieve the result?
    Awaiting your replies.

    Hi,
    Did not achieve the desired,
Just for your information the internal table is as follows.
objuectclas  udate      utime    objectid         changenr      change_ind

If i use the delete statements only 1 entry will remain.
Because i have to have only the latest record if it was updated,
since document 113 was updated on 06.03.2008. I should have only one record.
My result should be as follows.

  • Adjusting date and time does not work for pictures from one camera.

I have a set of pictures taken with a Casio EX-Z20 camera in my Aperture 2 library. Because the clock of this camera was off by a few hours I changed them all at once with the option "Adjust date and time...". This worked well and when I sorted the images from different cameras by date in Aperture they were in the order.
When exporting all the images as JPEG the images in the set from this camera was reset to it's original.
That was very strange, I decided to try and change the date of these images in the master files as well by checking the checkbox "Also change master files".
    When I change the date from 15-10-2008 18:34:44 to 16-10-2008 10:34:44 (+16 hours) the date of the image changes to 16-10-08 01:36:43 GMT+02.00 (+9 hours, 1 minute, 59 seconds).
    When I change the date from 16-10-08 01:36:43 to 16-10-2008 19:36:43 (+18 hours) it ends up as being 16-10-08 10:38:42 (+9 hours, 1 minute, 59 seconds)
    When I change the date from 16-10-08 10:38:42 to 16-10-08 10:48:42 (+10 minutes) it ends up as 16-10-08 01:50:49 GMT+02:00 (-8 hours, 47 minutes, 7 seconds)
I have worked around this problem by adding some hours to the desired time and eventually got it about right, but this is still a very annoying problem. Has anyone else encountered it or know of a way to avoid it?

I certainly have had issues regarding wrong dates, time stamping and DNG's in Aperture. There have been posts here from others as well with the same kind of date problems.
I have reported the bug to Apple and hope for a solution to the issue in a near future.

  • Show the last edit date and time ?

I can't find a way to see the actual date and time of the last edit made. I see where you can sort the view by this in grid mode.
    Has anyone figured this out?
    Thanks.

You can see it in the Metadata panel with the EXIF or ALL sets. There isn't a way to display it on the image using View Options, however.

  • Aperture 3.0.3 Adjust Date and Time

Working on a batch (~3K) scanned images that all need to be adjusted for date and time, the adjustments and so forth. All notes below is with Master images.
My observations so far with the unpredictable "Adjust Date and Time" function, "D&T" hereafter and some suggestions on improving Aperture.
    0. Always make sure that you start by "edit->deselect all" - even if nothing is selected.
APPLE: PLEASE MAKE IT SIMPLER TO SEE WHAT IS SELECTED (MASTERS, VERSIONS, etc).
    1. Always use US language selection - Language selection seems to matter for D&T. I am from Denmark, living in US but often switch between US and DK language (to get some special characters). In Denmark we use dd-mmm-yyyy and in use we use mmm-dd-yyyy. When i use the danish locale with the "D&T" function Aperture D&T is totally unpredictable - so stick with US.
APPLE: PLEASE DONT BE TOO SMART BUT USE THE D&T FORMAT LISTED IN THE D&T DIALOG BOX
    2. D&T time-shift does not work. Unfortunately this 'capability' cannot be disabled - Somehow Aperture check what the time was originally stamped on the image and use this for the new "D&T" - first i though that this was adjusting ~1 sec between images but it seems that Aperture do something like the following (sorry for my non-applescript'ish examples below)
newTime = "edit->adjust date and time"
    foreach image do
    set time to image.D&T.time
    try() change image.D&T.time newTime+image.D&T.time
    catch () newTime image.D&T.time
Not good as it time-shift from the original picture - if the time is good this is not a problem but if time (from the stamp) is off (like all of mine) most likely the time will get the date to wrap into the next day (or year if you got a bunch of images)..
APPLE: PLEASE ADD AN OPTION TO DISABLE TIME-SHIFT in D&T
    3. Dont include DNG - Aperture cannot change the date for a dng and it seems to screw up the time-shift in "D&T" - i think the algorithm do something like
    newD&T = "edit->adjust date and time"
    for each image do
    set D&T to image.D&T
    try() change image.D&T to newD&T
    catch() newD&T = image.D&T
The problem seems to be that when Aperture work on a image it cannot change it use this images (that it cannot change) D&T for the next images D&T, i got a bunch (a ton actually) of examples
    1994
    1994
    2008.dng
    2008
When using a different language locale it gets even worse.
APPLE: PLEASE DO NOT CHANGE THE D&T COUNTERS WHEN WORKING ON A FORMAT NOT (WELL) SUPPORTED.
    4. Always check your trash for images - after i deleted projects (empty, no images) i have found images for those projects in the trash. Cannot explain why this is but i am happy that i checked the trash before emptying - put back works just fine.
I am currently using the following methodology for my scans.
    1. load in all pics, create albums for years and projects for months - e.g. 1993.0201 <text>, 1998.0327 <text> and sort scans to the correct albums and projects
    2. export each album as separate libraries, open library, fix D&Ts, places and faces. Exit, reopen and check trash for images that should not have been deleted. Clean trash, close.
    - For faces i add a few pics' of recognizable folks - open faces and select from the many suggestions aperture offers - very fast.
    3. Open or import library to master (my master got ~20K pics currently)
I am interested in learning if i am the 'only one' with Aperture D&T 'problems' or if i am using the tool incorrectly.
    Kenneth

    nathan:
What type of edit were you making. Have been trying to duplicate that and cannot. I've changed the date and selected the original file to be changed also. Then I edited the file by cropping, changing the exposure and shadows and saving. Both versions are still tiff files.
Now these are tiff files that I converted over from jpgs with Photoshop as my camera doesn't take tiffs. Don't know if that will make any difference.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • EXIF date and time data issues

I have several thousand images shot during the same trip, on two different cameras. The date and on one of the cameras was not correct. I corrected the date on the images using PhotoInfo 2.0.1
The problem is that Bridge CS3 is not recognizing the new date on all of the images. Most of the images show and can be sorted in Bridge by the new, correct date. However, any image that I altered in Bridge (rotated, cropped, opened in ACR, rated, etc...) prior to correcting the date in PhotoInfo is not showing the new, corrected date in Bridge.
Has anyone else experienced this problem?
    Anyone know of a solution?
I have been struggling with this issue for quite a while so any input will be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

    Hi,
I have the exact same problem - corrected the EXIF date and time and still wrong sorting. The thing is that Bridge sorts the files by "Creation Date", the date and time you also see in the Finder. So I found an application that can change that, too. But still Bridge sorts the files in the wrong order! Displays the old time, too.
After several times of emptying the cache, sorting is now ALL messed up (without any kind of logic), I don't know how to fix it.

    Charles

  • How do I import photos from a memory card that didn't have the date and time set yet?

    Aloha,
So I got a new 5dmark 3 and I was shooting a wedding and didn't set the date and time before I started shooting. When I uploaded the images to Lightroom they uploaded all over the place and not in order. Is there a way to upload to lightroom and keep them in order?
    THanks so much,
    Eric

You can change the sort order to filename. That's what I prefer to use, and it keeps my images in shooting order.

  • Manipulating imports or photos events dates and times

It's a simple question and obviously related to the subject, but I'm trying to find out if it is possible to manipulate imports of images from an I device, we have an Apple Mac that has images on spreading over 3years, obviously with the event dates and times logged, but between each of the photos there are thousands of other images, therefore I would like to know if it is possible to slip images into iPhoto between these thousands of images and alter the date and time of the import or image
plus is there any way I can bring import logs up within iPhoto?

iPhoto has two ways to change the date of photos.
From the Photos menu select "Adjust Date and time". That will let you shift the dates of all selected photos by a fixed amount.
Or use "Photos > Batch Change". This way you can set the date of photos to a fixed date and time, with a optional increment between the photos. This is very useful for scans, where no capture date has been recorded.
To change the dates of events, change the date of the photos inside, or split the events, if you want to insert a different event in between. You can split an event by sorting the photos according to date and selecting a photo in the event. Then use the command "Events > Split event".
