Sort in slideshow

I have iphoto 8 and have an event of photos I want in a slide show. Unfortunately the order is reversed. There are 154 photos. I have re-named the photos to re-sort them but when I add them to slideshow they revert to there original order based on time/date. Without manually re-sorting each one how can I sort in descending order these photos in slideshow? The view/sort function is greyed out.

Events are strictly based on Date and Time. So, select the pics and go File -> New Album from Selection
You can then order things as you like in the Album and make your slideshow from that.

    We're using AppleTV to display a slideshow of a Flickr photostream, but AppleTV appears to be randomizing the order of the images in the slideshow. The photostream on the Flickr web site has the images in the correct order.
    I've searched through the settings, and can't seem to find anything about sorting the slideshow in AppleTV.

    Get info on the files.  Make sure each has the correct track number, disc number and same album name.  If by various artists make sure there is an identical Album Artist for each.
    This is of course presuming yu also have your window set to sort by album view and not something such as by artist name.

    Hi there
    I was wondering if anyone has any advice on creating a slideshow?
    I've created the basic pages pages for my site in dreamweaver, but I'm reading conflicting information on how to create a slideshow
    It would be a homepage continuous slideshow, not one that is controlled, it just keeps sliding images across:

      Since you mentioned that you're very new to web and dreamweaver, I would suggest looking up gallery plugin solutions. There's lots of free galleries out there that you could easily drop your own content into that would save you time. : ) Here's some great examples:

      However, there are ways to create your own. This tutorial by David Powers is really great for using CSS to do transitions on content. I would apply the same technique he used here in your own gallery/slideshow.

      Have you tried using Adobe Edge? This is the new HTML5/CSS3/Javascript publishing application and it is very simple to create a gallery in Adobe Edge. It's currently free for download because it's still in prerelease. Here's a tutorial that might be a little dated as far as UI goes (again the prerelease versions tend to change very quickly with their UI development) but you should be able to apply the techniques to the most recent release:

  • Slideshow with video files and still images ?

    As from the title I would like to know if in Captivate 7 (or 8) there is a widget for playing several videos within a sort of slideshow.

  • Quick Sort Functionality in PE 4

    When I create a slideshow using Elements 6, I can at any time do a quick sort without losing any of my transition or other settings. Is the same functionality available in Premiere 4?

    What are you trying to sort, Peet?
    You can sort the files in the Project media panel in a number of ways. (Just click on the head of the column -- and you can add colums for various other metadata.)
    You can also open the Premiere Elements Organizer and sort your files with a variety of criteria there.
    Or are you talking about sorting the slideshow itself? That's something you can't do as easily in Premiere Elements.
    On the other hand, that's why the Photoshop Elements slideshow creator exports the finished slideshow to Premiere Elements -- so you can use the best features of each program!

  • Stopping the full screen mode auto-advancing

    (This was originally posted a week or so ago in what turned out to be the wrong forum.  I can't move the thread, so I'm reposting it here.)
    I've been googling and searching  for this for some time; the only other post I've found[*] with the same  problem never got an answer.  So here goes.
    We're using Acrobat reader  9.3.0 on XP.  I'm not very familiar with the software used to create the PDFs; trying to ask the authors what they used got a semi-garbled  reply including the words "presentation adobe photoshop cs2", if that  helps any.  (Their English is only so-so, and there's at least one layer  of overworked translators between us, so there's a good deal of mind  reading going on.)
    Pulling up any of the PDFs in Full Screen Mode starts a  sort of slideshow, advancing every few seconds.  This is hellishly  annoying when trying to read more than a few words or follow more than  an inch or two of a line diagram.  I tried bringing up Preferences,  selecting the Full Screen tab, and unchecking "Advance every ___  seconds", but this had no effect.  Exiting the reader and starting it  back up after making the change also had no effect (and I double-checked  that the box is still unchecked).  I was going to try checking the option and then typing a 0 in the space, but it gave an error that  the number had to be 1-60.
    Setting it to 60 delays the slide show for a  minute, for whichever page I happen to be viewing at the time of  bringing up the Preferences window, but after autoadvancing to the next  page, it reverts to advancing every few seconds.
    The  "left-click forwards, right-click back" option was checked, and that  does work, but having to continually hop back a page and find my place  in a diagram again is tediously unproductive.  Hitting the space bar  just advances the page immediately, trying other space bar combinations  had no effect.
    What  option(s) do I need to twiddle to turn off the autoadvance altogether?

    Have you looked at the Preferences for your copy of Reader?
    Use the menu bar "Edit => Preferences => Category: Full Screen" and look at the options. You should be able to set the time limit or turn it off.
    As I wrote in my post, none of that worked.

  • Image Gallery question

    I have been asked to help re-create a web site. The existing site is 100% flash. The site owner wants to redo the appearance and navigation and get away from flash.
    They want to have the various project galleries re-created without flash but want the behaviors to be the same as they are in the existing flash setup. check the link below.

    Specifically they want the thumbnails to auto scroll when the cursor rolls over the scroll arrow.  Also  want the roll over effect where -  roll over the thumbnail changes it to color and also changes the larger/primary image above.
    I have a couple of slideshow generators from Project 7 but they will not quite achieve these effects.
    Is this possible with html/css and/or can anyone recomend a third party product or tool I might use to create this sort of gallery?
    Additionally they want to re-create the opening animation on the home page of the site. They have made a little 1.7 meg movie in imovie or something that plays a series of stills but with an animated camera move acroos each still like a Ken Burns film. Slow zoom in or  zoom out or pan. Also has sound track.
    My question, is it "bad" practice to have a .mov or .wmv or some such movie auto play on the home page?
    Again, is this possible with html/css and/or can anyone recomend a third party product or tool I might use to create this sort of slideshow with zoom/pan effects and soundtrack?

    As Martin said, you can do some amazing things with jQuery transitions, animations and fadeIn effects.  And jQuery is  supported by nearly all web devices.

    No, sorry that sort of slideshow is not possible in iPhoto. Though you can achieve something close to it - it has the reflections, glossy black screen but the pics move up from below, rather than slide in for the side - using PhotoPresenter.

  • Best CC App for creating "animated" menu?

    Picture this on the home page of a website: a rectangular frame (size irrelevant for this question), empty inside, every 2 or 3 seconds a new graphic/slide appears (transitions) inside the frame, each has text describing a page in the site; when you click on one of the graphics/slides when it appears, it takes you to that page.
    I'm calling this an animated site menu. (You can call it whatever you like.) (Not being snarky. Just saying there could be different, better terminology.)
    I'm confident that something - some app in Adobe Creative Cloud - will allow me to create a menu like this and then embed it in a web page. This webpage will have other things, like the header graphic, so this menu won't be alone on the page.
    Flash? Edge Animate? Something!! I subscribe to the whole ACC shebang.
    I'm a WYSIWYG type of person, so I don't know code, and I don't know javascript.
    I haven't used a lot of the ACC apps, which is probably why I can't answer this question myself. But if someone can tell me which app (if there is one) will let me create this menu and then embed it in a web page I'd be forever grateful.
    Of course you can ask more questions. I know I've probably not described my project/outcome as clearly as I could have, but it's early, or late depending on how you look at it. (It's 6 am and I've been up all night.)
    Here's the "frame." The white space within the orange rectangle will be a sort of slideshow. Graphics/slides will change every 3 seconds or so. The frame will never change.

    You can create a slideshow in Edge Animate and put markers and actions on the relevant sections, then size it to fit within your imaginary frame. Otherwise I'm sure there's tons of "preview slideshow with page jump" jQuery widgets out there that can easily be integrated into Muse, Dreamweaver and so on.

  • Need a Firehand Lightning emulator for the Mac

    My daughter's wedding pictures were put together by the photographer with a program called Firehand Lightning. Is there an emulator for the Mac for this software? The photographer has given permission for me to use an emulator to open these pictures.

    Ya, he's giving you the BS treatment.  After doing a bit more reading, Firehand basically allows someone to take a set of pictures they have and package them together in a single .exe file that becomes a sort of slideshow presentation.  You need to go back and read what your contract with this photographer said, because if you paid him to take pictures and provide you with those pictures for said price, then he needs to provide those pics to you.  If the contract read something along the lines of you're paying him to take pics which he will provideo to you in an album or slideshow encapsulation for said price, then you're hosed because he's basically getting away with charging you for doing half-*** work really.  Any professional photographer should be giving his/her clients full rez JPEGs of the work they're doing and getting paid for, not some bundled junk presentation/slideshow, unless you asked for that specifically.  Either way, you need to go read your contract with him/her.  If you didn't have one, then you need to confront him/her with your demands.  Paying an additional $1500 just for him/her to take some pics off a card and put them on a CD or DVD for you is outrageous and ground for taking him to small claims court in my book... unless a contract was signed or verbally agreed upon that allowed him to swindle you because you didn't understand what he was selling you on.

    you can load image files into your swf dynamically but you can't easily change swf library items dynamically.
    how you use php depends on whether you're using as2 (use loadvars) or as3 (use the urlloader class).  how you use html depends on your actionscript version and what you're trying to do.  if you want to open a html page in a browser window use getURL (as2) or navigateToURL (as3).

  • Playing videos back to back in itunes

    hello, I am trying to to play my videos through itunes, without having to click each video after one is done.
    is there a way to sort of watch your videos as a sort of 'slideshow' . I know this isnt a big deal, but I figured there HAS to be a way to do that---it seems pretty basic, but I'm stumped.

    Put the video-playback-setting to "play videos fullscreen"; then they will play continuously.

  • Is there a way to stop photos from moving in iMovie?

    Whenever I import a photo into my iMovie it does that really annoying this where it sort of "slideshows" and gradually zooms in. Is there a way to turn this off? I'd really just like to have an image sit still for five seconds. Thanks

    Yes. Click on the crop tool and instead of Ken Burns Effect, select Fit or Crop.
    You may need to go into iMovie Preferences and turn on Advanced Editing Tools before you see the crop tool. I can't remember if it is a default tool or an advanced tool. It will be on the toolbar in the middle of the screen between the Project pane and the Event pane.

  • Using Fotomagico with Aperture

    Hello,
    Does anyone have any experience using the slide show program Fotomagico with Aperture? It has a feature where you can access your iPhoto libraries easily to create slideshows but doesn't seem to have the same access to the Aperture libraries. A
    Has anyone discovered any workaround for this or do I just have to export images into a folder and use them that way.

    The reason you cannot drag-n-drop right out of Aperture is really quite simple.
    It would involve the same steps as you exporting a version.
    The photo you see in iPhoto is either the original imported JPG, or a JPG from the imported RAW file, or a modified JPG(if you have made any enhancements/cropping to the image), so dragging and dropping works well there because you are merely copying a file from the filesystem to the application.
    IF you could drag-and-drop from Aperture, users would complain that it is too slow, and much slower than silly iPhoto! The reason it would be slow is it would involve a full rendering of a new JPG based on the changes you applied.. this would take just as long as exporting the image the old way.
    Ever made a change to an image in iPhoto? When you move to the next it tells you to wait while it regenerates the new stored image. Imagine Aperture doing that! No thanks!
    I have used Fotomagico(which IMHO is THE choice for slideshows) with images from Aperture. I make an album either at the project level or the folder(of projects) level and drag in the images I want to use for the slide show. Once I have made those choices I export them all to a folder and point Fotomagico at it. Works great!
    I am sure V2 of Aperture will have some sort of slideshow tool built in, but probably not as robust as an external dedicated app like Fotomagico.

  • Simple Tweening in Fireworks? ala Imageready..

    I used to use Imageready - to make simple animated gifs.
    I would take 2 frames in the animation - and Select add Tween between, pick a number and it would tween one frame into the next.
    I'm trying to do this in Fireworks, but it's asking about Symbols, States, and other overly complicated things - what's an easy way to do this?
    I have so far a file with 4 states.
    I want to put 5 frames of tween between each state.
    I will end up with an animation with 24 frames (4 originals, 20 tweened frames).
    Perhaps there is an Imageready-friendly FAQ or guide how to do this somewhere?

    Perhaps I'm making it out to be more complicated than it needs to be, or maybe I'm not understanding some of the terminology, let me elaborate:
    I have 4 photos - that I would like create an animated gif out of - a sort of slideshow gif - but not something that 'flashes' each image - I want them to blend into each other - kind of like a slideshow where one image fades out as another fades in, pauses for an amount of time, then fades in/out to another image - make sense?
    One good example is how if you set your desktop to change at regular intervals in Mac OS X - it slowly blends each desktop photo/image into the next - so it's not flicking by - if that helps at all.
    Not really looking for anything shape/vector related - just a simple slideshow with nice transitions - and the default way Imageready CS/CS2 would do this was perfect - it did it with just layers/frames.
    Do I need to pull in the 4 images I want to use, convert them to 'States' then try and tween those States together? I'm looking to be able to streamline this workflow so I can produce these small "slideshow gifs" as I call them whenever I need to.
