Sort of an ipad question. Re: DVD digital copies

Can you copy DVDs and/or Blu Rays that come with a free digital copy into your itunes library? If you can, are those same movies able to be transferred to your iPad?
i have about 5 movies in my DVD/Blu Ray collection that came with digital copies and i think i'd like to add them to my iPad if i'm able.
Thanks in advance to anyone who knows.

I never knew that the digital copies were available on my Blu Rays until a couple of months ago. I then went through my whole collection and found about half had digital copies. And you're right, I do select for digital copies more often than not.
My only issue is that the digital copies are low def, not the beauty of BluRay. And we don't get all of the extras, which I kind of like.
Might sopund a bit dumb, but where do i look for these digital copies?
None of my mac computers have a blu-ray drive, so how would i find these files?
Any help welcome

  • ITunes & DVD digital copies

    Computer: Windows 7 Pro 64Bit w/SP1
    iTunes: v10.6.3.25
I downloaded a few DVDs to my computer using iTunes & DVD digital codes.
    1. Where are the files located?
    2. Is there a way to watch them on my wife's iPad Mini as well?

It's best to copy from your old computer to your new computer before syncing your phone with your new computer for the first time:

If everything were from the iTunes Store, you could do this:

Since it's not all from the iTunes Store, you should copy your library from your old computer to your new one, as noted above. If that's not possible and you can use only your phone as the file source, you will need to use a third-party utility such as Senuti:

There are many similar utilities. Some work just as well as Senuti and are even free.

  • How do I move DVD digital copies from my iphone to a new computer's itunes account, same Apple ID?

I just got a MacBook Pro and I also have an iphone. My current main itunes is on a PC that I will not use any longer. I have several movies on my iphone which came with DVD's as digital copies, not purchased through itunes store.
In the past, I've lost these kinds of movie digital copies through syncing my phone on a new computer. I don't want this to happen again but I am totally lost since these are not itunes purchases.
How can I sync my iphone on my new mac's itunes and not "erase and replace" all the movies currently on my phone? Or how can I get them onto my Mac's itunes account so when I do sync my iphone, they'll still be there?
    Thanks!

  • IPad question re: DVDs

Does anyone know if i can import some of my DVDs to my desktop computer and download them on to my iPad?

I'm going to presume you're talking about home made dvd's (converting commercial dvd's requires that you break the CSS encoding which is against the forum rules here to talk about or help you with...if you're doing commercial dvd's you need to look elsewhere or figure it out on your own.)
There are some great programs out there to convert your dvd's into MP4's. Handbrake is a great one. Format Factory also works (but it's pc only). Mpegstreamclip will also convert the files. All are freeware. (I'd recommend handbrake first, it has iDevice presets and a queue feature that allows you to convert several cuts on your DVD at once)
Once you convert those files into mp4's, import them into the iTunes library, then choose which ones to sync to your iPad.

  • Movies from mac to Droid X (digital copies)

I have a Macbook Pro, and cannot transfer movies that I ran off from DVD digital copies onto my phone. If I need to reformat, fine, just don't know how to do that and what software is best. Plus, if I reformat, will it make the movies useless for my ipod video? Have tried drag and drop to both the phone, and to the micro sd card itself, nothing works. What format do the movies need to be in to work on my phone? They are in Mp4 right now. Any help is appreciated.

This is most likely because the digital copies usually have there own version of Micro-vision that will stop the files to be transferred to multiple devices, also this makes it a little difficult to be able to upload to any file sharing app and share illegal copies. Im not a MAC user but with Windows you can right click on file and go into the properties, click on Details and scroll down until you see the word "Protected", if this options says yes then you know that some security settings had been setup on that video file and you have to filter it with a 3rd party app, but since once again I point out that I do not own a MAC, I cant even say if this is possible.
Also how are you transferring file? This could be another possibility to you problem...Your not transferring through any software?

I had the same problem after I gave my old iPad to my parents and tried to install Netflix. This is what you have to do:  Open iTunes on your computer, the one you sync your iPad to. Then go to iTunes Store and search for and download Netflix app. After you download it, if your iPad is set to download new purchases it may start downloading on your iPad. If so, tap and hold to delete the app (because it is trying to install the new version on the iPad) Next step, go to the App Store on your iPad and find Netflix and it should say install since you already purchased it on the computer. Tap to install, and it will say the version is not compatible, tap to download a previous version. Click that and it will install the older version!    One more thing, if and when you sync to your computer again it will say something like " Unable to install Netflix on your iPad" Just click the box to never remind you again, because it's trying to sync the newer Netflix app to your iPad, but it doesn't work so it displays the message. The old app will remain on the ipad. Hope this helps, good luck

  • 1st Gen ipad; digital copies

I have a 1st Gen ipad and i would like to put my digital copies that some of my movies came with; when i tried it kept telling me that my ipad will not play this content. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yes. Very often digital copies available as a package with DVDs are not compatable with Mac OS or iOS.

  • DVD digital file copy problems

First question- When downloading a DVD "digital file" through Itunes, is the movie actually downloaded from the disc in the drive, or from the Itunes libray?
Second question- How long should it take to download?
Third question- Where the heck is my movie?
Fourth question- How can I contact Itunes directly?
    Here is the rundown:
I signed uo for Itunes today to upload my "Disney file" digital copy to my mp3 player. Well, that has created some problems. All was going smoothly, or so I thought. Itunes took the activation code (as a form of payment basically) and I got confirmation that the movie was being downloaded to my Itunes account. It was taking a long, long time to download and I was not sure if the movie was being downloaded from the disc that Disney provided, or if it was being downloaded from the Itunes libray, so I ended up taking the disc out of the drive to see what would happen. (I hope I didn't mess things up for myself!)
I waited a bit longer and reinserted the disc and tried the activation code again, and as I suspected the code was denied, so it wouldn't attempt to download again.
It has been a few hours and my movie is nowhere to be found on my Itunes account. Being new to the whole Itunes thing I wonder if I did something wrong, or if I am not looking in the right place.
    I really hope I didn't make a big mistake!!

I did this with the Family Guy "Blue Harvest" digital copy, and it (entering the code and 'purchasing') only authorizes playback of the content from the disc in the drive. Other than cookies, there is no download from the iTunes store. The software treats the copying from the disc as a download though, and it shows copy progress as download progress. That threw me off the first time I did it.

  • HT203167 I downloaded two movies from itunes at the same time (both free digital copies from a dvd) and when they finished downloading... they disappeared. I've not been able to re-download them or find them.. anywhere. Any suggestions for tracking them d

I downloaded two movies from itunes at the same time (both free digital copies from a dvd) and when they finished downloading... they disappeared. I've not been able to re-download them or find them.. anywhere. Any suggestions for tracking them down?

If you downloaded them on your computer's iTunes then they should have gone into the Movies part of your iTunes library, if on a device (iPad, iPhone or iPod Touch) then into the Videos app - they haven't appeared there ?
If you downloaded on your PC and they don't show in the Movies section then you could try searching for them by name (or part of their name) via windows explorer and see if that finds them. Or if you downloaded them on a device and they aren't in the Videos app then have you got a film age rating set in Settings > General > Restrictions that is hiding them, and if not can you find them via the device's spotlight search screen (swipe your first homescreen to the right) ?

  • How can I get an iMovie on my iPad onto a DVD?

Hi! I wish to move an iMovie from my iPad onto a DVD. I do not have a mac but I have an asus computer and blank DVDs. I've been trying to get it to work by accessing my videos then copying the video to the desktop, then moving the video to the desktop and then burning it to the disk, but it's not working. It always says error. Is it in the wrong format? What do I do? I really have to get this done tonight so all answers appreciated! Thanks so much!!

My turning it into a standard video DVD in mpeg2 format - which is what iDVD does.
Alternatively export it as a Quicktime file.

I have connected them via the Ipad to a LIGHTNING DIGITAL AV ADAPTER-ZML connected to a APPLE HDMI TO HDMI CABLE (1.8 M)-ZML, and to the HDMI port on the PC. But now I don't know how to show the Ipad screen on the PC, as if it was a monitor / screen, so that I can then use Lync and share my PC screen with people virtually.

  • Sort photo in iPad

    Hi, my name is massimo.
    My father bought an ipad.
Unfortunately he doesn't have a mac but,an (horrible) PC with Windows XP SP3.
I can't order the photos into ipad.
I tried some guides, but in spite of having changed the EXIF metadata inside each picture, nothing will change.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks and forgive my English

After downloading all kinds of things that didn't work & spending about a million hours arranging everything in an unsatisfactory way through iPhoto -
    I FINALLY FIGURED THIS OUT!
I personally have lots of files inside sub-folders inside other sub-folders.
They all transferred perfectly with subfolders in tact. All my files are JPGs & please note that PDFs wont transfer.
    You DO NOT need iPhoto.
You can import as many folders, sub-folders as you like directly from your computer via wi-fi.
Download an app called 'Photo-Sort' & plug your ipad into your computer via USB.
Open the app & click the little radar icon (third one in at the bottom of the ipad screen). A little window pops up to say FTP enabled. Leave it up & go to your main computer.
If you don't already have an FTP loader on your main computer - download one called 'CyberDuck' from CNET for free. That's what I used.
Open CyberDuck & click 'Open Connection'.
In the 'Server' field - type:
    192.168.10.132
In the 'Port' field - type:
    8080
Choose 'Anonymous' as your Username & then click 'Connect'.
Now - all you have to do is drag your folder(s) directly from your desktop into that CyberDuck window.
As they load - a second window pops up called 'Transfer' and you can see them uploading.
    Once they're all loaded -
simply go back to your iPad & click 'Disable FTP Server'.
They will all show up on your ipad after you do that & It will work just like your folder structure on your regular computer. You can even rename / see the names of all your photos (which is something you can't do through the regular ipad Photo app).
