Sort order of documents in a collaboration room

hi everybody
i have a collaboration room where documents are stored in it. the sort order of my folders in the collaboration room is determined by the names of the folders.
now there are many folders in folders and at the bottom-level-folder there are the documents stored. these documents are sorted by the names of the documents too.
now my problem:
the sorting of the folders by name is OK, but at the bottom-level in the bottom-level-folder i need the documents sorted by "modified"-date (for all users). How can i easy made this change? (hope not to make a new layout set...:-() can you please post a guidance?

the suggested solutions are not bad but i have this problem:
in the collaboration room we use two layout sets, one for the users with write-permission (layout set FileExplorer) and one for the users with read-permissions (layout set AnonymExplorer).
in the collaboration room the folder-structure for documents should be sorted by folder-name but in the bottom-level-folders, the documents should be sortet by modified-date.
now the problem is, that i can assign only one layout set to a folder, that would mean, that the users with the read- and write-permissions both would have the same view...
do you see another solution?
please help!

Error when opening documents in a collaboration-room using vpn

hello everybody
i have the following problem:
by using vpn (virtual private network) i can access to the portal and enter a collaboration-room, but when i try to open a document in the collaboration-room, i always get the error that the page can not be displaied. users which are in the "portal-network" can open these documents, but users with vpn-access can not.
do you have any idea where the problem could be? thanks for helping.

That's a bug in Internet Explorer. You may be able solve that by following the instructions at http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=325355.

Asynchronous document generation in Collaboration Rooms

Hi, I'm new in this KMC world, but not in Portal.
I have a collaboration room, and I need to create a document, in a collaborative and asynchronous way.
I mean the creation of a document kind of .doc, .pdf, or .ppt, but without using the .dot template, or .pot template (for example).
I know that exist an Synchronous Application Sharing tool, available with Collaboration Rooms, but what I need is precisely the opposite.
I need a kind of A-Synchronous Application Sharing tool.
Anyone tried something like that?
Any help well be point-rewarded.

I want to create a document in a ppt, or pdf format, but using some User Inteface provided (or developed) by Portal or Collaboration.
For example, do you know XML Forms? In those, you can input some info into several fields, and this info is "rendered" later as HTML. I want something similiar, but using PPT or PDF as "rendered format" instead HTML.
I'd need this functionality integrated into some collaboration rooms.
Is that possible??

Refresh Documents window in a Room with Flexible UI One-Step-Screenflow

Hi everyone:
I made a customer UI command for uploading files under Documents in a collaboration room. Our implementation is based on the example code in an article Implementing Flexible UI One-Step-Screenflow at https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/library/kmc/implementing flexible ui one-step-screenflow.article.
As we need to build our GUI for uploading multiple files at a time, this is implemented in another DynPage class and displayed in a newly opened browser window. This class is called by JavsScript window.open(...).
Because we do not need the OK and Cancel buttons so in the example code I have removed them. But we need to refresh the window in order to display the newly uploaded files. This should be done in the DynPage class after the new window is closed.
How can I implement in Java or JavaScript in order to simulate clicking the Documents in a collaboration room?
Any hint will be appreciated?

you hav run into a more or less well-known classloader problem. See UICommand deployment
A workaround, as you have found out by yourself, is to add a number (_1, _2, ...) to the class / some package part, and also do edit the command mapping according to this.

Document library items are not displaying in sorted order in sharepoint 2013

Hi,
I have a document library , I am storing document sets on it.
28326 items are there in the library.
I have configured sort on Name columns. Initially items are displaying in sorted order like (A,B,C,D,E...)
Now Items are not displaying in a sorted order it is displaying like (A, B,C,D,E,A,C...) like this.
Please help me on this sorting issue.

Are the documents displaying in your image inside the document sets? If so then your sets (folders) are displaying in alphabetical order and the documents inside the sets are displaying in alphabetical order. This is what i would expect.

Sort order of files when opening a document within a program

When opening Explorer, files are correctly sorted in alphabetical order.
When opening a document (say within Word), if I search a folder then the files/folders are in a strange sort order - something like last used or modified. I don't know how this happened. I want them sorted alphabetically like in Explorer.
What do I need to do? I'm fed up of having to sort every folder each time I open it within a program.

Collaboration Rooms and Document Uploads from Network

Hi,
We are starting to use Collaboration Rooms and would like the Documents iview to point to our network file system, so when a user uploads a file he can do it via the portal or our network drive. We are using FSR's elsewhere and are wondering how to incorporate it into a collab room document iview. Our portal environment is NW04 Stack 12.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.

Hi Kris,
what you need to do is to create a collaboration room template that would integrate a KM Navigation iView that points to the file share. Of course, first you need to integrate the share via repository manager in KM.
I hope you know how to integrate the share into KM. For more on how to create a room template check the info in this thread:

BOBJ 6.5 - Infoview - Bespoke Document View Sort Orders

Hi,
Can anyone confirm if it is possible to define a custom sort order of the documents displayed under corporate documents e.g. name asc and date desc and independantly the categories defined within with different sort orders. Obviously document naming conventions may be the way to go without - but I am looking at a legacy where there is no consistency, changes are required and if there is short-path to a solution. Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the reply and suggestions. I don't know if there is a different version of the viewers folder that I should be using but I am using the ones from this folder:
C:\Program Files\Business Objects\Common\4.0\crystalreportviewers12
That said, I didn't see anything amiss in Fiddler and when I looked in Firebug at the script portion where it was constructing the FlexParameterUI panel, I could see where it was capturing the report parameter names and prompts. I decided to rip out all the parameters out of my report and voila, it loaded up fine in the viewer.
I then added a new string parameter giving it a simple short name (Test1) and, initially, I did not use this parameter in the report. It loaded up in the viewer just fine too.
I then added the parameter to the report header and I was back to the same problem - it would not load in the viewer and the error was the same as the subject line shows.
For the record, I am using Crystal Reports 2008 v12.2.0.290
So is there some other crystalreportviewers12 that I should be using?

Attributing Documents in the public area of a Collaboration Room

Is there a way you can attribute documents to your taxonomy that are stored in the public area of a collaboration room?

Actually, the room part "KM Document" works with an external parameter manually entered by the user.
So, I just have to create an external parameter and enter the real path after the creation of the room.
Are there any other standard solutions ?

Approval-process for publishing documents in Collaboration-Room

is it possible to use a approval-process for publishing documents form the private document store of a collaboration room to the public one? I it is, how I have to do it, I have no idea?!?
Or is there a way to give specific users the right to publish a document.

I'm not sure about publishing from private to public. However, you can set-up folders in the Collaboration rooms to enable State Management. To do this, you'll need to use a system principal to alter the permissions on the specific Collaboration room document folder.

In the standard configuration, room members' access to folders and documents in a room is predefined as follows:
All collaboration room members are permission owners and can therefore assign permissions themselves.
What you would need in order to achieve 1)& 2) is to set the content creator as permission owner and give the Room Members Group only READ permission for each new created document in the room. In order not to do this manually you would need to implement a KM repository service.

Multilanguage Collaboration room ?

Hello all,
does anybody know, if there are multilanguage collaboration rooms ?
I think about following scenario.
User A logs in to the portal with language EN and sees in the room only items, documents etc., that exist in 'his' language EN. User B logs on with language e.g. japanese and does corresponding only see items in language japanese.
Does this work ? Or are there alternatives ?

Hi,
the translation of KM-Documents is not supported in the standard. This means that is it not possible to show an announcement or a document within a room only in the user's language. As a general rule you can say that in the moment all data that you create in the PortalContentStudio can be translated, content created in KM can not. You can try to use taxonomies to sort document by language (by creating an additional property that has to be maintained when creating a document). These two documents are nor related to each other (which e.g. means that you will not be forced to update one if you have changed the other). Then you will need two pages within a room (and two roles) - one for each language (if there are only two languages). Maybe that there are more options by doing some custom coding, but I am not a developer so I am sorry but I can't tell you

Any way to Restore Last Manual Sort Order or Prevent from being Overwritten accidentally?

     Help!
     I'm constantly accidentally overwriting painstakingly created manual sort ordering (sometimes hours but more often months of accumulated work) in folders with files numbering up to 1,000, when i, however breifly, switch to another sort ordering (size, date modified etc) to check something, immediately forget that i'm in another sort order, and, unthinkingly (actually i guess i'm thinking of a lot of other things) drag a file to another position, this immediately destroys any past manual sorting i've established, overwriting it with this new inadvertent manual ordering.
     I've tried CommandZ (edit undo) but that only undoes my last rating or labeling, i've rushed to force quit Bridge through the activity montior hoping i will catch it before its overwritten, but obviously i am not as fast as a computer, and i don't think this has ever worked.
Is there any way or any script someone has written to formally save a manual sort order? Is there anything i've missed to attempt restoring it? Has anyone, repeatedly foiled by this, written something that would give a warning and require confirmation say for instance, if i tried to drag or move a file while in another sort ordering (this seems like something that should have existed the minute the opportunity was given to create manual organization). Would anyone be willing to?
     Seriously, me forgetting almost every time isn't going to change and, more vexingly, it's even happened when i didn't mean to move anything but fumbled momentarily while in another sort order. I think most people might forget because (in the context of computing) we are conditioned to expect a warning if something we have just created is about to be written over or discarded, and since there is no option to formally save a manual ordering we have just created.
     Also, if this was in the real world, moving a single file would not reshuffle everything on your desk. If i had the option to formally save a manual organization i would NOT forget to do this and would use it, as i've wished for one every time spent a while rearranging files. Knowing how easily all the hours (much less months and years of cumulative work) of organizational work can be accidentally lost makes working within Bridge unpleasantly anxious.
      I'm literally willing to do anything including installing some sketchy 3rd-part scripts (though honestly i have no idea what that means or how to do it). I extentively use and rely heavily upon this function so this is a fairly serious Achille's heel. It's like watching your incredibly important meticulously constructed house of cards collapse with a careless but innocent sigh, or like having the equivelent of a not even charming cat dance across your keyboard during a live concert, etc etc....
     Also it is not usually appropriate, given the context, to batch rename everything to preserve a manual ordering w sequence numbers, etc. Often the filenames are considerably (but necessarily, to connote important differences) long already, and when i have to rearrange things in the future would have to do that each time, etc, etc, making for even more unwieldly filenames that didn't have any substantive information at the beginning. I'm looking for a way to make this function (manual sort ordering), well, more functional, secure and stable, the workarounds i've considered cause too many additonal problems.

     PPS I know most of y'all might be running the newest and the latest of everything, but, i'm fairly certain this is still a problem in recent versions as this has happened to me at school where all the macs are running cs5. Though if it's been addressed somehow in cs6 would update entire suite just to fix this one problem in Bridge. I've tried many searches and found nothing relevant or wouldn't bother the considerable expertise and resources of an official forum, was extremely hesitant to ask (feared getting snapped at for unwittingly broaching forum etiquette) but it is truly the bane of my considerable Bridge existence, so was willing to risk the imaginary censure and opprobrium....

That is a good question, to do this requires two functions and a restart of Bridge all done automagically
Copy and paste the script into ExtendScript Toolkit
This gets installed with Photoshop and can be found:-
PC: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Utilities

Start Bridge
PC: Edit - Preferences - Startup Scripts
Mac: Adobe Bridge menu - Preferences - Startup Scripts
At the bottom click the "Reveal Button" this will open the folder where the script should be saved.
Close and restart Bridge.
Accept the new script.
To use:
Tools - Backup Manual Sort
This will backup the hidden manual sort file .BridgeSort to .BridgeSortSave
Tools - Restore Manual Sort
This will copy the .BridgeSortSave back to .BridgeSort and will close and restart Bridge so that the manual sort is restored.

Sort order in list wrong: in CAML and in view

When I order my list with document sets by ID, the order is wrong. It is wrong in the list and with caml.
This is my view (I just set the sort on the ID column):
The first 4 objects are created by the Client Object Model; the last 4 are created by a SharePoint webpart that I developped myself...
My code for creating document sets in COM is something like this:

if i do this query in the U2U Caml builder, the order is also wrong

Document Sets are great tools for grouping multiple documents together. However, if every set has exactly one document, it would be better to just upload the file and not place it within a Document Set:

If you have requirements to use Document Sets, keep in mind that this adds a layer of complexity beyond a simple Document Library. Behind the scenes, each Document Set is treated as a separate folder, and although can you query items within it, there might
be extra steps for getting the sort order to ignore the folder structure. Can you try setting the Scope to be "Recursive" and also specify that you are looking only for files and not folders:
