Sort pictures in a new Gallery

Hi
I have creatded a picture gallery with 50-60 pictures in it. I draged and dropped the pictures into the gallery and all the pictures landed in a mess..... not in number order??? Why? How can I sort them in number order?

May you please try what is requested here above: may you crop some photos in a new imovie project (as if a movie of still pictures had to be done) and just check with activity monitor what the XFR rate is? I find the 3-4Mb/sec on my macbook a little bit slow and I would like to be sure that it is not a strange particularity of it....

Load a new gallery from the main gallery

have a question about loading new photos into a already populated image gallery.
So I have my gallery set up so first loads my stage pics. What I would now like to do is load different set of images via the click of a button.
So for example the loaded gallery already has all thumbs loaded and the user can click on them to view the full size image. next instead of the user having to close this gallery to allow a new gallery to open with a different set of pictures I would like to have a button. This button will unload the existing thumbs from the gallery and load in new ones.

I didn't see a specific question so I'm guessing you have not tried anything. Your ability to do what you want and how you might go about it depend on how your existing gallery is done. If you look up the loadMovie function or MovieClipLoader.loadClip() method you'll see that when you target the loading into a specific movieclip, the loaded object replaces whatever was already there and assumes all of the properties of that movieclip. So you should think along those lines in the way you have your file designed and how to go about replacing the contents of one gallery with another's.

Lightroom 5 will not publish a new gallery to SmugMug.

Lightroom 5 will not publish a new gallery to SmugMug. It will allow me to add new pictures to an existing gallery, but I get the message "Failed to create an album on SmugMug. Please try again or contact support." I have never previously had a problem like this, Lightroom has always worked seemlessly with SmugMug. The latest version of the SmugMug plug in is installed. Any help would be appreciated as I do have some galleries to put up and this is killing my workflow. Thank you.

You need to check in Finder using get info (command-I). Make sure that the destination that you have set in Lightroom has write permissions for you. Also double check that the destination is really in the right place and not trying to write into a root folder on your main hard drive or some such.

No, your iPhone and your iPad should not appear in the finder.
I'm not sure what you mean about downloading photos with iPhoto being double handling, but you can download direct to a folder with Image Capture. Image Capture can also be used to delete photos from the Camera Roll on the iPhone or iPad (preferrably after they are downloaded).
You can remove the photos you synced from your phone with iTunes by syncing again with an empty folder, That will delete all the photos that were previously synced that way, replacing them with the contents of the empty folder (that is, nothing). This will not effect photos takes with the camera on your iPhone.

"File➞Export➞ ... as new Library " will create a new Library from the selection.
The preferred method for making the Library on your system drive smaller is to change some of the Image's Originals from Managed (= stored inside the Library) to Referenced (= stored outside the Library, often on external drives). There are so many advantages to this that it can be recommended without question. Unless you have specific reasons for splitting your Library into two Libraries (security concerns are one of the very few reasons), you should keep your Library on your system drive with some Image's Originals Managed, and the rest Referenced to an external drive.
Read up about these options in the User Manual (scroll down).

future reference import your pics to your PC, that way you can always sync it back using itunes

Sorry your pictures are gone.
you should be doing this for all your pictures/videos http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083 that way you can sync it back via itunes.

Default role missing options in new gallery

I am new to JDeveloper 11g. When accessing the software, I am selecting the "Default role" from the intial roles dialog. When selecting File / New, I get the following options only:

The help for New Gallery suggests I should be seeing much more than this (UML, XML, TopLink etc.) when logged in under the default role. Can anyone suggest what might be wrong? Is there a config file I can look at or update?

All of the things you mention require a project; so, first create an application and a project; then, ensure the Technology Scope for the project matches what you want to do (right-click, properties, technology scope). Then, you should see all of the things you mention.

Sorry to hear you are having a similar problem. Last night I went to the tool bar at the top of iphoto, clicked on "File", then clicked "Browse Backups" in the drop down menu.    I have an external hard drive that is set up to Time Machine.   The Browse Backups opened the iphoto pages in the Time Machine. I selected a date one day ahead of the day I performed the now infamous update, and it showed my iphoto library as it had existed that day.   I then clicked "Restore Library" at the bottom right corner of the Time Machine screen.   Roughly 2 hours later my iphoto was back to normal.   When I opened iphoto there was a message saying I need to upgrade my program to be compatible with the new version of iphoto(version 9.2.1). I clicked "Upgrade" and within seconds it had done whatever upgrading it needed to do.
The only glitch in the restoration was that it restored the library as it appeared last week, so I no longer had photos I had imported this past weekend.   I simply went back to the Browse Backups in the drop down menu, when Time Machine opened I selected the page showing my pictures from this weekend and again said to Restore Library.   Roughly 45 minutes later the library was restored including the most recent photos.
I am now a happy camper.
I don't know if any of this will be of help to you because your email says you are having trouble with photos imported after the upgrade was performed.   Have you had any pop up notices when you first open iphoto, that tell you you need an upgrade to be compatible with the new iphoto?     If so have you clicked "upgrade"?
Good luck Liz, if you have Time Machine running as a back up to your library, maybe you wil be able to get help there, by following my instructions above.   Otherwise,   good luck with your investigations.   I'd be interested in hearing how you make out.

BNN, even though I understand what KT is saying, your thought resonates with mine. When it comes to building and maintaining my website, I see myself more as a photographer than as a web designer. Hence, even though Apple may not be actively developing (and we are guessing on this one, arent we) iWeb, the existing functionality should do plenty of good to me for next couple years at least.
That said, they released a point update a few days back and with the whole cloud thing building momentum and mobile me going for free, why would Apple want to pull the plug on such a fantastic product?

I Cannot View Pictures in Windows Photo Gallery Viewer

When I open Windows Photo Gallery, all my pictures will be shown in the gallery but as soon as i click on a picture to actually view it, a message pops up saying that an error is preventing the Windows Photo Gallery Viewer from starting. If I click on a
video, however, the video will play; its just the pictures that i cannot view. Do anyone know how to fix this problem or what may have happened to cause this problem? Please Help!

Welcome to the Apple Community.
Photostream photos are displayed in the order they are added. The only way to sort them would be to remove them from the album and add them back in the order you want.
