  • Sort photos with newest on top?

Can't seem to find any way to sort photos in "newest on top" order. Is there a way?

No.  Photos seems to have been dumbed down a bid when compared with iPhoto.
Tell Apple what additional features you want in Photos via http://www.apple.com/feedback/macosx.html.

  • Sort photos by newest first

Am I missing something? I just want to sort photos newest first. Currently it is oldest. How can I change this?

    Hi,
That all depends on your logic
I like the days in newest first but within each day I prefer the oldest first.
I guess it is because the newest day appears at the top but my old brain likes to work forward through the day (getting to the drink and bed stage) - the other way of working back towards the morning means that I have to face getting up again.
I am beginning to use Lightroom more and more now and that seems to only sort on date/time (amoungst other possible keys) in one direction ascending or descending - not mixed like elements.

  • Automatically sort replies to folder which contains the original email.

Is there anyway to do this?
I've set thunderbird to automatically move MY replies under the original message which is great.
When I receive the next message (a reply to my reply) it goes to my inbox. I'd like it to automatically sort to the folder where the thread is contained. Or have the entire thread show up in my inbox again.
Is it a bug? or does the option only work for MY replies?

The usual way to automate the filing of messages is to use ''Message Filters''. These are found under '''Tools|Message Filters''' in the traditional menus, or under '''Message Filters''' if you use the new Application Menu button, [≡].
    There is an add-on:
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/quickfilters/
which may be attractive if you use filters a lot.

  • Can the autofill sort be changed? Sorting by date newest first.

I enter the same info into a website each day and it is a variation of the previous day's info. I made a change to the about:config on my previous install of Firefox. I was previously able to type the first two letters and then arrow up and the most recent was listed and could be entered into that field. I thought this was the setting listed as browser.formfill.bucketSize, so I changed it to 3, but it still loads chronologically newest at the top. I'd like chronologically newest to be at the bottom. Stupid, right?
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened
    == Upon install

    Resolved.
    browser.formfill.bucketSize;0

  • Photo Library on iPhone no longer sorted by date (oldest to newest).

My photo library on my iPhone was sorted by date (oldest to newest) and since upgrading to iOS 5.0 it is no longer sorted this way.  My specific events are still sorted that way, but when I view the entire library under "Photo Library" they are scattered and I can't find any pattern as to how they are sorted.
I went to Aperture which I use for my photo organization and under the Photos section where I see all my pictures they are sorted oldest to newest there.  I have tried unsyncing photos to my phone and then resyncing, but that didn't work.  It worked fine before iOS 5.0 and I was using Aperture then too.
    Anyone have any ideas?

Uh-uh, I think there is an answer on page https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4565337.
The solution provided by LarryHN is:
In the Events view, go to Menu > View > Sort events. In the roll-down menu, select By date.
Repeat it, if you also want to choose between Ascending or Descending sorting order.
Sorry to have bothered you all.
    Yours
    Erik

  • Sorting and Grouping in Projects View

In Projects view, when either of two of the three grouping options is selected, there are two sorts in effect: the groups themselves are sorted, and the contents of each group are sorted. These sorts are handled differently, depending on the grouping selected and the sort order selected.
(It appears that there is a bit of the old Apple voodoo in here. The results are arbitrary , but they seem to have been carefully chosen to meet most users expectations. That is to say -- and this is an Apple programming trait -- the arbitrariness is faithful to the expected users' needs, not to logic.)
There are four sorts available, and three groupings
    Sorts:
    . Name
    . Date -- Oldest First
    . Date -- Newest First
    . Library
    Groupings:
    . Ungrouped
    . Group by year
    . Group by folder
So that's twelve possible ways to display Projects in Projects view.
Let's look at a few of them. I'm going to refer to the groups as "Year groups" or "Folder groups" and to the contents of the groups as "Projects". So there is sorting of the groups, and sorting of the contents of the groups (same as "within the group"). These I'll refer to as "Groups sorting" and "Projects sorting".
    Sort: Date -- Newest First
    Grouping: Group by Year
Result: Year groups are sorted in the same order as Projects. Projects which span multiple years are put in multi-year groups. Projects with the same spans are grouped together.
    Sort: Date -- Oldest First
    Grouping: Group by Year
Results are as expected; a reversal of the "Newest First" sort, but with the same groups: Year groups are sorted in the same order as Projects. Projects which span multiple years are put in multi-year groups. Projects with the same spans are grouped together.
    Sort: Name
    Grouping: Group by Year
Result: Year groups are sorted by year, oldest first. Projects which span multiple years are put in multi-year groups. Projects with the same spans are grouped together. Projects are sorted alphabetically, descending.
    Sort: Library
    Grouping: Group by year
Result: Year groups are sorted by year, oldest first. Projects which span multiple years are put in multi-year groups. Projects with the same spans are grouped together. Projects are listed in the order they occur in the Library structure shown on the Library tab of the Inspector. (Note that this last is literal: a Project named "Aardvark Close-ups" if it's in a Folder named "Zoography" will be listed after all the projects in "Yellow Paintings" and all the Projects in "X-rays, thoracic" if those Projects are in alphabetical order by Folder name in the Library. You can see all the Projects in your Library listed on the Library tab of the Inspector by "{Option}+clicking" the disclosure triangle next to "PROJECTS & ALBUMS" twice.)
    Sort: Date - Newest First
    Grouping: Group by folder
Result: Folder groups are sorted alphabetically by name, descending. Projects are sorted by date, newest first. Clicking a Folder's name in the Project viewer drills down to show the sub-Folders and Projects in the clicked Folder.
    Sort: Date - Oldest First
    Grouping: Group by folder
Result: Folder groups are sorted alphabetically by name, descending. Projects are sorted by date, oldest first. Clicking a Folder's name in the Project viewer drills down to show the sub-Folders and Projects in the clicked Folder (where, again, Folder groups are sorted alpha-name, descending, and Projects are sorted alpha-name, descending).
    Sort: Name
    Grouping: Group by folder
Result: Folder groups are sorted alphabetically by name, descending. Projects are sorted alphabetically by name, descending. Clicking a Folder's name in the Project viewer drills down to show the sub-Folders and Projects in the clicked Folder (where, again, Folder groups are sorted alpha-name, descending, and Projects are sorted alpha-name, descending).
    Sort: Library
    Grouping: Group by folder
Result: Folder groups are sorted alphabetically by name, descending. Projects are listed in the order they occur in the Library structure shown on the Library tab of the Inspector (see note above). Clicking a Folder's name in the Project viewer drills down to show the sub-Folders and Projects in the clicked Folder (where, again, Folder groups are sorted alpha-name, descending, and Projects are listed in the order they appear in the Library).

+I see those icons but note that those projects in folders will be in different sections arranged alpha, and then date within. Am I correct on that?+
    The answer is, it depends.
If "Group by year" is selected, the Groups-sorting will always be by date, regardless of the sort order specified. The Groups-sorting order will follow whatever is specified for the Projects sort order (or default to "oldest first").
If "Group by folder" is selected, the Groups-sorting will always be alphabetical, descending, regardless of the sort order specified. (So if you use Projects view, take care in naming your Folders. Use prefixes if needed to force a desired alpha sort.)
If "Ungrouped" is selected, there are no Groups and perforce no Groups-sorting.
That's all I have to say on this topic (today).

  • A sorting songs by the "date added" bug on iPhone and iTunes?

So I've run accross a bug (maybe) that has really been annoying me for a few months now. It has been present since like iOS5 beta 3. It has to do with how my songs are sorted on my iPhone. I've always had my songs sorted by "date added" and I have never had a problem with them showing up in that way. During the beta, my songs started showing up backwards on my phone. My oldest songs would show up first on my phone's iPod even though in my iTunes they were sorted with the newest songs on top. I figured this was a bug and that it would be fixed by apple in the later versions of iTunes and after the official release of iOS5, but I was wrong. It didn't fix after I receieved my 4S. On a side note, I was having this problem initially on my iPhone 4, and it continued on to my iPhone 4S. This is probably one of the MOST ANNOYING problems I've had with my iPhone because my car displays my songs in the order they are on my phone too, and in my car I have to use a wheel and not a touchscreen to scroll all the way to the bottom (you get my point). I haven't actually found a fix for this to where everything works as it is supposed to, but today as I was tinkering with my iTunes to finally fix this problem I decided to sort all my songs by "newest songs modified" just to see if it would fix my sorting problem. It worked. My phone now has all my new songs on top of each of my playlists in ONLY the playlists I choose to have sorted in that specific way. After I realized this fixed my problem, I tried to re-sort all my songs by "date added" again just to see if it would fix my problem because having them sorted by "date modified" is an annoying problem I just dont want to have. It didn't work. So right now, I am sorting my songs on my phone by "date modified" because "date added" doesnt sort them the way it is supposed to when any playlist is transferred from my iTunes to my iPhone. Anyone know whats up? How can I let apple know about this annoying problem? Could it just be me and my computer? I've gone through multiple versions of iTunes, iOS5s including beta, and I've had the problem on two different iPhones. Coincidence? By the way I'm running windows 7, and no, I haven't searched much for this problem on forums or on google because it seems too specific to my situation (and im too lazy to look hard enough).

my problem started with the recent upgrade and this idea (sort on PC iTunes by date modified) worked. I did have to remove my playlist from my phone first and then resync to get things to respond but it seems to work. Why on earth Apple does not provide a mechanism for sorting ON THE F*&^ING PHONE is beyond me. For a company who's mantra is building things that 'they'd want to use' this gaff cannot possible fit into that paradigm.

  • Change Default Sort Logic Of ADF Table?

    Hello All,
In my application is an ADF table with lots of rows. The default sort logic for one of the columns is from 'Oldest to Newest'. The user has to click on the sort again to get 'Newest to Olderst'. This takes away a lot of time.
How can I change the default sort logic to 'Newest to Oldest' ?
    Thanks,

    Is this jdeveloper 11.1.1.2?
What is the problem with the normal scenario - just add 'order by' the view object clause?
The table offers ascending and descending ordering.

  • IOS 4.2.1 - can't sort events anymore in Photos app?

    I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.2.1, and I'm using iTunes 10.1 and iPhoto '11 (9.1) on OS X 10.6.5.
In iPhoto on my computer, I have Events sorted newest to oldest, and it showed up that way on my iPhone before the iOS 4.2.1 update. Since updating, Events will only stay sorted oldest to newest, and no matter what I try (changing sort order and back in iPhoto, syncing in between changing sort order, restarting iPhone, etc...) I can't seem to get my iPhone to reflect the sort order that shows in iPhoto.
Is anyone else experience this problem? And more importantly, has anyone found a fix for this? I don't understand why iOS 4.2.1 would break photo sorting if there were no changes made to the Photos app.

The same thing happened to me. I was on a mission yesterday to fix it, but didn't get it to work. I have 1 more thing i want to try... but haven't had a chance.
    Has anyone fixed this?
My plan is to unsync photos to remove them from my phone, delete all the photo cache information from the iPhoto Library package, empty the trash, reboot my computer AND iPhone, open iPhoto to make sure they're sorted correctly, and then sync my phone. If that doesn't fix it... i dont know, i might call Apple.

  • PSE Organizer sort order

Using PSE 11. I am trying to sort my photos in order Newest first.  I select Sort by: Newest and they are sorted in newest DATE order but within each date they are sorted on oldest time order, which seems odd... how can I get PSE to sort so that Newest is based on date and time?

    Hi,
That all depends on your logic
I like the days in newest first but within each day I prefer the oldest first.
I guess it is because the newest day appears at the top but my old brain likes to work forward through the day (getting to the drink and bed stage) - the other way of working back towards the morning means that I have to face getting up again.

  • Elements Organizer 8. Alphabetic sort on file name

I have been advised to create an Album and then select Album Order.  When I do this it still sorts in Date (Newest First) order. I have check Preferences are set to sort Albums alphabetically not manually.  Can anyone help me to get my selection sorted in alphabetic order on file name?

    Brian
I have tried your link to the ‘feedback.photoshop.com’ thread but get a message ‘Page Not Found’.  If you do get through my comment would be as follows:
It is sad that Organizer is not able to sort a key selection of images from multiple source files into alphabetic order by file name.  It can sort by ‘Date (Newest First)’ and ‘Date (Oldest First)’ so it should not be that hard to make it sort alphabetically.
When images are loaded into Albums a new sort ‘Album Order’ is offered, and the wording of the ‘Options – Preferences - Keyword Tags & Albums’ for Albums, supported by the Help description, gives hope of an alphabetic sort.  However this is misleading.  It says  Alphabetic or Manual but it should say Album order or Manual.  Album order will only be alphabetic if the source images have been pre-sorted into alphabetic sequence by originating in the same folder and are then imported in Folder View.  If imported to the Album as thumbnails in Thumbnail View they will remain in the sequence of the thumbnails and even if Alphabetic is selected in the Options they will not be sorted alphabetically.
An alphabetic sort would enhance any future release version of Optimize.
    Best wishes
    Mike

  • Is there a way to sort albums under artists in the Music app?

On my iPhone, the albums under each individual artist are sorted from newest to oldest.  On the previous version of the iOS they were sorted oldest to newest.  Is there a way to change it back to show oldest to newest?  I like to listen to my albums in order.
When you go into your music app, select the artist, the Albums should be sorted from oldest release date to newest.  Right now, when I go into Pink Floyd it shows:
Wish You Were Here (1975), then it shows
The Dark Side of the Moon (1973), and finally
    Meddle (1971)
    Thank you.

If you find the music sorting order as annoying as I think most people do, let apple know at:

  • Possible to sort sheets/tabs ?

I have a Numbers file with dozens of sheets, all sorted oldest to newest.. Each time i open the file i have to scroll down to the last/bottom to update the current sheet.  Not too big a deal on my Mac, but in Numbers for iOS it takes 10 or more swipes to get to the end/last sheet.
Is it possible to change the sort order of the sheets/tabs?

    Hi Randy,
On the Mac, you can change the order of sheets by dragging them to the order you want in the Sheets list. You can also go directly to any sheet (or any table) by clicking its icon in the Sheets list.
Quesitions regarding how to do this in Numbers for iOS are better asked in the iWork for iOS community, where the iOS experts reside.
    Regards,
    Barry
