Sorting different podcasts differently

I have some podcasts which I want to hear the most recent editions first (eg, news and current affairs) and others where I'd like to listen to them in release order (eg, learn to speak a language).
When selecting which podcasts to sync (not which to download), iTunes only lets me choose a single setting for all podcasts. How do I get the podcasts I want to hear onto my iPhone?
Thanks!

this is from the itunes site under 'user tips':
"Hold on to your hits
If you like the auto-remove feature for most podcasts but want to keep all episodes of a particular podcast, you’re in luck. Select a podcast (either at the episode or podcast level) and from the right-click menu, choose “Do Not Auto Delete.” iTunes holds onto that podcast’s episodes until you manually delete them."
(that's ctrl-click on the mac...)
i'm still trying to figure out how to save some podcasts permanently, outside of the podcasts section, and delete them from the podcasts section to keep it orderly. any ideas?

  • Plays wrong episode - 3 Different Podcasts

The Podcast App is playing the wrong episodes in 3 different Podcasts. I select the most recent Episode to start and a different episode plays (sometimes months old). Started with an NPR Podcast and has now happened with ABC news podcast and one from CNN. I attempted to change settings, sort order, auto download on/off, I tried a full ipad shutdown and reset restart (Holding power button & home button til logo appeared second time), and I tried a delete and redownload. Zero improvement. Zero fix. Zero reduction in annoyment, too.
I like this app, I want to love this app, I could easily end up hating this app if all I am going to be getting from using it is random crashes and a growing inability to play the frapping podcasts it is designed to be playing.

  • How can I subscribe to different podcasts on different computers?

Up until recenlty, I could susbcribe to different casts on two different computers. I sync my iPod with my iMac at home, and use this for most of my podcast listening. At work, I had a different set of podcasts I listened to at my desk.  Now, I get both sets of casts on both computers. I don't want this!  Seems like it came with an upgrade to iOS7, and or something to do with iCloud, but I cannot figure this out.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

Exact same issue. I subscribe to Podcasts on my computer and my husband subscribes to different Podcasts on his computer, but we use the same Apple account. If I delete Podcasts from one computer it deletes them from the other. This wasn't the case until the recent upgrade to iTunes. I don't use the Cloud for any type of syncing, everything is done manually through iTunes.

  • Some, but not all, podcasts existing on the iPod no longer appear in iTunes. Different podcasts have been affected at different times, after changes in the state of the iPod. Only podcasts are affected.

I have not seen this precise issue addressed anywhere. I don’t know if it’s an iTunes or an iPod problem:
    - Some, but not all, podcasts existing on the iPod no longer appear in iTunes;
this, after normal behavior for more than a year since purchase of the iPod.
    - Different podcasts have been affected at different times, after changes in the state of the iPod.
    - Only podcasts are affected.
    - This concerns an iPod nano 6th gen. and iTunes 11.0.2 (26) on System 10.6.8
    - The only change to iTunes, the Mac, or the iPod is that just before this condition began
I’d begun syncing an iPhone via iTunes.
I sync manually (“manually manage music and videos”). The first time this happened, I wanted to delete seventeen podcast episodes (all belonging to one podcast) existing on the iPod — but they didn’t show up in iTunes. I tried re-downloading them and re-syncing, to see if the new versions would somehow “re-link” to iTunes. They didn’t. Only one — new — episode appeared in iTunes.
I ultimately reset the iPod and manually resynced all the podcasts I currently had on iTunes. That worked, though I had to painstakingly add in all the other content deleted by the reset.
So: after that reset and manual sync, all podcasts and episodes on the iPod were visible to iTunes and I was able to delete the podcast and its — now 18 — episodes I’d wanted to get rid of to begin with. But the next time I connected the iPod, only 8 podcast episodes out of 21 episodes total existing on the iPod were visible to iTunes. These are different podcasts; I’d deleted the original “invisible” ones.
By “visible,” I mean in the “Podcasts” list view under “[name]’s iPod” in the iTunes sidebar. If I select “[name]’s” iPod in the iTunes sidebar and the “Podcasts” tab, all podcasts and episodes are visible, though greyed out because I’m set to sync manually. It’s unclear to me if these are the podcasts on the iPod or those currently in iTunes, as they are currently the same. If I switch to syncing automatically, all content on the iPod will be lost again, so I’m not up to trying it at the moment.
As I said,  this involves only podcasts. All other content on the iPod does appear in iTunes.

I have the same problem- i see my movies in the ipod section in itunes and they even show as mpeg4 in the 'kind' section but they dont have that small TV icon next to them. if i play these in itunes, they play fine- but try playing them on the ipod and all you hear is the sound and no picture. All videos that i manually transfer work fine in the beginning- its when i hook up the ipod to the comp again and start itunes- they start showing up without the 'tv' icon!! i have to again transfer them from the itunes library to activate them as videos.

  • Syncing podcasts - different settings based on podcasts

I have both played and unplayed podcasts (audio and video) in iTunes and for the most part, want to sync only the unplayed podcasts (audio) to my Touch. But, I do want to sync all (played and unplayed) of one particular podcast (video). I have not been able to figure out how to have different settings for different podcasts...is this possible?
I tried dragging the ones that were in the second category into the Touch, but while it shows them syncing, they don't appear.
Any ideas? Can I even do this? I would really like to avoid syncing all of my played and unplayed podcasts, but also really want to have these video podcasts available.
    Thanks

    Hi Siddy,
    >>So when a user clicks an "Add" button, a legend type control should come up with required set of controls like text boxes and/or toggle buttons inside where the user can enter their custom settings and save it. Now if the user
again click on "Add" button, again a set of controls should be displayed where a user can set up some settings for other user scenarios.
If I'm not misunderstanding, we can consider using Popup control to show the addition information or a set of controls:

    For example, in this sample:

The author placed a WebBrowser control to Popup's child panel.

  • Two devices, two different podcast configurations?

I fear I may have posed a question to the wrong sub-forum, so I'm asking again here.
I'm sure someone has this answer to this, and I'd appreciate your expertise
I have an iMac, and use it to sync and manage my podcast playlists for an iPod Touch and iPad Air. The Touch and Air have entirely different content; the Touch contains music and audio podcasts, while the iPad Air contains video and video podcasts. As Apple suggested, separated the playlists accouding to device, to easily sync with iTunes:
...and so far, this is working perfectly. Except when it comes to podcasts.
If I add a podcast to my iPod Touch, a sync will automatically cause the podcast to be added to my iPad Air the next time I sync.
I want to have completely different podcast playlist on my iPod Touch and iPad Air. How exactly do I do this? Feel free to include links to explain the solution.
    Thanks!

My guess for this: if you want to have different content on your different devices, then you need to disable uncheck the "Sync podcast subscriptions and settings" box (in iTunes / Preferences / Store: there's a list of checkboxes in the bottom half). But this is going to lead to other complications.
Route 1: download podcasts only in iTunes on your computer, and then sync to your devices through playlists. This could work for some people, depending on how much you care about getting current podcasts.
Route 2: download the podcasts only on the respective devices, and listen to/watch/read them only on those devices, not on iTunes on your computer - in fact those podcast episodes never appear on iTunes at all.
My current use (with just an iPhone) is a hybrid of the above: I've turned off syncing podcast subscriptions and settings. I subscribe to "disposable" podcasts on my iPhone - those are the radio shows that I listen to basically right away and then get rid of. I subscribe to "permanent" podcasts on my desktop - those are the more "audiobook" ones that I could may listen to this week, or may listen to next year. I change the media kind of those permanent podcasts to Audiobooks so that they'll behave more reliably when syncing. Every few days, I wire-sync my iPhone to the computer to copy those podcast-Audiobooks over. (I turned off Wifi Sync long ago. Too unpredictable.)
Caveat: the latest iTunes (11.2.2?) has made the above procedure yet more of a hassle, with podcast episodes in iTunes refusing to disappear.
I only use podcasts on my iPhone, not on my iPad, but that's because I don't deal with any video podcasts - your desire to use video podcasts on one, and audio on the other, makes perfect sense to me. My own take on this is that podcasts in iTunes work fine in isolation, and podcasts on iOS devices work fine in isolation, but the syncing is a big mess. I'd like to think that Apple is trying to improve this, but each update seems to fix minor issues (now at least the play order thing is working properly for me in the Podcasts app), while making the big issue - syncing - worse.

  • Is there any way to sort the alarms differently in the Clock app? I have alarms for multiple days during the week, all of which overlap each other. It makes no sense to me that the alarms sort by time and not day. Thanks!

No, there is no way to change the sort order.

My wife and I both have iPods on her account.  Can we both subscribe to different podcasts and only list those?

With the later model iPods/iOS version you can subscribe to podcasts directly on the iPod.
Also, if you sync from a common iTunes library just check the podcasts you want synced to each device

  • Different sync settings for different podcasts?

Here's a dilemma: From what I can figure so far, if you choose a Sync option (from the Podcast tab for your iPod when it's connected to iTunes), that option will apply to ALL of the podcasts you are sync-ing to your iPod - whether that's one, several, or all your podcasts. Well, what if you want different sync instructions for different podcasts?
For example, is there a way to have iTunes do the following, all at once, on the same iPod:
Sync only the "1 most recent" episode from Podcasts A, B, and C,
    ...AND...
Sync "all" episodes from Podcast D.
Because, seems to me, to keep all of the episodes of show D on iPod, you have to either have every episode of shows A, B and C loaded (which you don't want), or else have ONLY show D load (with not even the latest episodes from shows A B and C, which you WOULD like to have).
Would this require setting up a Smart Playlist for each show, or am I overlooking some other (obvious?) way of achieving separate sync instructions? Anxious for your insights.

    josh,
i came on here looking for the same answer...this is probably the single most lame setting (or lack thereof) in itunes...I love apple and i'm a mac enthusiast who has converted 2 friends in the past 3 months, and i think they've done this for simplicity's sake, but it drives me up a wall to have a universal "keep" setting. The "Do Not Delete" is not enough, i'd love to have different keep settings for my podcasts.

  • Different podcasts impossible on iPod? This is ridiculous!

So much space and unable to listen to two different podcast feeds? So basically I can listen to a bazillion episodes of The Moth or a bazillion episodes of Risk?
I cannot listen to one podcast from The Moth, the next from Risk, the next from something else?
This is so stupid. The only thing I bought the iPod for was to listen to podcasts. I do not use it for music at all.
I've tried creating playlists and synching the playlist.
I've tried dragging and dropping each podcast one by one.
I've tried synching without creating the playlist.
    What the heck?!?!
All my iPod will do is repeat the first podcast that goes onto the iPod. It never advances to the next track even though all the **** tracks are on there. I can see them plain as day on my desktop's iTunes.
    I am ******!

What?!?!? You may as well have told me to turn around three times counter-clockwise, touch the ground, and toggle the on/off button twice.
Why is this strange protocol not provided to users in the iPod instructions?
Why is this even a protocol? It's like songs from different bands. You should simply be able to hit the "next track" button.
    Ridiculous!!!!!!!
But I thank you so very much for knowing and providing me with this arcane piece of knowledge!
Maybe I simply missed this in the instructions because of my assumption that "everything on a Mac product is *so intuitive*!" (*Squeals*)
    Ugh.

  • IPhoto 2011. Created an album from different cameras (different filenames), placed pics in order in album but want to export into new folder on desktop in same order. Can I number the pics within iPhoto to reflect that order, or simply export in order?

    Thanks!

File -> Export, and note the options under File Name
    Another way:
Here's one (of several) way(s) to do what you want:
Make an Album of the photos, then drag the pics into your preferred order.
Then Photos Menu: Batch Change -> Set Title to Text "John's Birthday", for instance, and tick the box to append a number to each Photo. Now your photos are titled 'John's Birthday 001, John's Birthday 002 ... etc'
Then File -> Export and in the Export dialogue set the Filename to "Use Title"
Sort on Filename in the FInder and you end up with a folder full of images in the same order as the Album in iPhoto.

  • Vendor Name Appearing Different for Different Line Items in FBL1N

    Hi,
I am executing FBL1N and changing the layout to include the Vendor Name in the line items. But when the line items are appearing, the Vendor Name is appearing different for different documents. I wish to see from where the system is picking up the name, so that I can rectify this. But since the layout is being changed after the report is executed, the debug window is taking me in this. Can someone help me please how to debug so that I can see from where the name is coming?
