Sorting Events by Date?

I know this may have been covered before, but I have to be certain.
Is there no way to have the albums and events sort by date? It looks like I can with "all photos", but not events and albums.
If not, is there a work-around? I can't imagine that designers of such a sophisticated software would leave out a preference that is so obvious...
Please give detailed ways to do it or reason why it can't, and I'll be forever grateful to this community. Thanks!

aperture doesn't have events ... it has projects ...
these (and albums/folders/etc) are sorted in the project viewer alphabetically, only ... to the best of my knowledge ...
i know that there are 2 options in the all projects view ...

  • How to sort photo events by date and avoid having duplicated photos on iPhone 6+

    How to sort photo events bby date and avoid having duplicated photos. Before the sorting by date worked perfectly by specifying "sort events by date ascending" in iPhoto from my Mac. Now the sorting from iPhoto has no more effect on the iPhones. And photos are often duplicated when synchronisin. Before these problems didn't happen. How to do?

    You can not  --  neither automatically or manually - you should never be in the masters folder and there is never a need to be - iPhoto is a SQLite database and it's database structure is determined by it (and changes from time to time) - use the supported access methods (direct access to the photo files is not supported and never has been) - either using iPhoto or using the media browser in the lower left hand corner of every open/attach/iupload window
    It is CRITICAL that you NEVER make any changes of any sort to the structure or content of the iPhoto library using the finder or any program other than iPhoto

  • IPhoto browser events by date

    How do I set the Aperture iPhoto browser to sort events by date?
    I'm new to Aperture 3 trial. I have a large iPhoto library from which I want to import an event. I keep the iPhoto events ordered by date. The Aperture iPhoto browser orders events by name. Over the years my naming conventions have changed. My earlier events had names 2001-11-15-name. Since iPhoto started to sort events by date, names started to reflect the contents rather the dates. Still there are many, many events and sorting them by name is not helpful to me at all. It could just as well be random.

    Sorting can be done by: Date, Rating, Label, Version Name, Keyword, File size, Pixel Size, Manual, and in Ascending or Descending order. You will see a small label at the top of the Browser which in your case is possibly says Version Name. Click on the R/H side of the label box to show all options. Allan

  • Naming clips so that events are sorted by clip dates

    I have some dv-avi clips that I've imported using my old PC. I now import those clips in iM. To get the events sorted correctly by date/time I change the name to a format that iM interprets as date/time stamp (e.g. clip-2007-12-24 12;00;00.dv). iM then sorts the clip correctly by date and time.
    The problem is, I have to change the extension also, from avi to dv. For some reason the clip won't play any more after that. If I retain the old extension, the clip plays fine but is not sorted correctly under iM events.
    Any workaround?

    If I change the extension to .mov, iM does not allow me to even try to import the clip (it is grayed). Strange.
    If I change the extension to .dv, iM does allow me to import the clip, but the video does not play. I am almost certain this method has worked before. Maybe something has changed with the updates of OS X or iM.
    I guess I could use MPEG Streamclip to export the clips as DV. I just wonder if it somehow converts the clips too (so I loose quality).

    The unix commands you need are:
    GetFileInfo
    SetFileInfo
    and maybe find
    for cryptic details use the man command
    Macintosh-HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal
    man SetFileInfo
    You may use the SetFileInfo command to set the file type & the program which will open the file.

  • Some photos are not sorted correctly by date

    I just imported some photos from my friends camera who were on the same trip. However, I noticed that a couple (not all) of his photos are not sorted correctly by date in the Event. A photo from day 3 somehow comes before the photos from day 2. I checked the extended information and the dates on the photo are correct. Has anyone had this problem and know of a solution? Thanks.

    It might be of some help to delete the photo cache. Please see this link - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1314

  • How do you get the Event folder date to match the media dates in FCPX

    Modifying the clip date/time with the Modify command works fine ... but the Event itself still has the date the event was created, not the date of the media that it contains.
    If tried using Touch on the Event folder but FCPX ignores it.
    Any ideas on how to get the Event folder date to match the media dates (or set to any other date desired) so that Events sorted by date show the actual dates of the media that they contain?
    Thanks

  • How Do I Sort Events by Event File Name?

    Hi All,
    Searched the forums extensively and can't seem to find anything on point. I'm trying to sort my events in iMovie appropriately and it's a challenge. Some of my events are recent, imported digital videos. Others are old VHS videos from the 80s and 90s converted through video capture devices. Others are simple videos filmed through my point and shoot camera. Bottom line, they only have a digital tag based on two things: the date they were imported into iMovie (analog stuff brought in through video capture) or actual digital tags from a digital video recorder.
    So they only way to really get these events sorted correctly is to name them in a conventional "year-month-day" naming convention and sort, just like other files.
    My problem is that I can't get iMovie to sort this way even after I successfully rename EVERY event (and there's like 150 events at this point).
    Any ideas? It seems simple. How do I sort events WITHIN the iMovie application by event name?
    Thanks,
    -Ben (San Antonio)

    Did the trick! I'd love it if there were a bit more of an assembly line capability to this, as I needed to change the creation date for 154 clips, which involved attaching, adjusting, removing, attaching, adjusting, removing...
    Lot's of mouse work is all.
    BUT it did the trick!
    Thanks,

  • How can I make the sort default "by date" in iPhoto?

    On one of my computers, every time I load an event, it goes to the top of the library and I have to go to "sort/by date" to get it to go to the end or bottom of the library...where I want it.
    On my other computers, the default seems to be "by date" normally....
    How can I make the default sort option "by date?"
    Thanks.

    I am not by that computer now.  But that makes sense.
    I combine events that are imported into that iPhoto.  I suppose that would qualify as manually sorting....right?
    Still, shouldn't there be a way to overide that and make "date" the default.  That is, if your observation is correct.
    (I'll take a look tomorrow....)
    Thanks!!

  • Sorting photos by date/time taken, when date/time created is not an option?

    I'm so sorry if this has been answered elsewhere, but I can't find it on Google or in the forums...
    I need to sort wedding photos from multiple photographers by date taken so I can sort through the wedding as a full event. Sorting by the date/time the file was created will not suffice because I had to convert all photos from one of my photogs from NEF to DNG (D610 files not compatible with CS5), so the 'date created' for those DNG file is days later than all the other images. Thus, sorting by "date created' batches all the photos from one of my photogs together at the end.
    Is there any option in Bridge that will actually read the metadata and sort by the shoot time of the image?
    Thanks for any help!

      There has been a known bug in PSE9 although only affecting raw images and caused by the Camera Raw 6.4 update. The timestamp gets changed by one hour each time an image is modified. I don’t know if your issue is related but the work around is to revert to ACR 6.3
    http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/915/cpsid_91582.html
    The only other work around is to temporarily switch to folder location view, if your images were imported from a single folder. Click on the display button (near top right in Organizer) to change the browser view. If you click on the folder in the left hand pane the files will normally be in sequential file name order which usually mirrors the date/time taken. From the folder location it’s possible to create an instant album, which can then be used as the basis of a slideshow.

  • IPhoto - sort images my date photo was taken (metadata)

    The Sort by Date Photo functunality in iPHOTO appears to be flawed.
    I opened up my photos in Photoshop, and looked at the METADATA for when the photos were taken.
    When I sorted them "By Date" in iPHOTO, they looked in an odd order.
    Then I figured it out.
    They were sorted by the "date" THEY WERE MODIFED IN PHOTOSHOP (the date stamp on the file).
    This has nothing to do with the date the photo was taken (in the metadata), which is what most photographers would be interested in.
    How do you get iPHOTO to actually sort event photos by the DATE the photo was TAKEN?

    Were these photos edtied by PS outside of iPhoto and imported or from within iPhoto with PS as the external editor of choice? Are they jpeg format?
    No matter if I edit outside of iPhoto or from withing iPhoto the files are sorted by the EXIF Capture date.  Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and try the following:
    1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
         User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
    2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
         User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
    3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
    NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto.  You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

  • See events by date

    Would like to display recent 450 image shoot in events by date, but don't know how to do that. Now that I've updated Iphoto, can't even find the date/time of the individual pictures. Have camera (Canon G11) set to sort by date, but not to display date on actual images.

    What I really meant and want is to have them grouped in events by date.
    I have no idea what you want - there is not  (and never has been) a way to group events - when you import from your camera the event structure is determined by your settings in the iPhoto preferences - unless you have unchecked the preference to split photos imported from the finder into events imports from disk will be treated the same
    The camera was set to make "folders" by date, and I had hoped/expected them to group in separate events by date.
    iPhoto does not do anything with those folders - if you were to manually drag the folders to iPhoto (and have the option to split items imported via the finder off) then iPhoto will make a event of each folder
    b) I had stumbled on the info once before and forgotten it, often is out of site in window and must remember to look; kept trying to get it by clicking on the indicator on the image, as in previous Iphoto iteration. "Change"=improvement?
    remembering that this strictlhy a user to user forum- is there a question there?

  • Iphoto 11 not sorting events by titles.

    I'm using Iphoto 11.  I have grouped photos (different souces iphone and 2 digital cameras) by events that are all named with the following template:
    YYYY.MM.JJ - Title of the event
    For some other events that I wanted to always be "on top" of all the others were names differently:
    00 - Title event
    * Title of the event *
    Regardless of the way I name the event it is not sorting correctly.  For instance I have 2 events called:
    00 - Cat
    00 - Dog
    Logically they should be next to each other is sorted by title... Why it is not sorting.  Can anyone help? Thanks

    I used Sort Events > By Title (or By Date)
    But I try to avoid Manually sorting, beacause i read so many posts by other users with issues of sorting being lost and have to to do it again.  therefor thats why I choose a sorting option that shoulds always work with automatic sorting (date or title) evan if someone "accidentaly" switch it to manual.
    *** The only way to have it work and sort again correctly (i just found this) is to add an other photo to the event and then it sort again... What is wrong with my Iphoto??

  • How to customize SORT event in the View Form ?

    I'm using Jdevelper 9.0.3 with BC4J+UIXML, and I need customize the View Object Query, including "bind variables" as:
    SELECT A.COD_CLIENTE,
    A.NUM_TESTE,
    A.NOM_TESTE
    FROM TESTE A

    </bc4j:setPageProperty>
    </bc4j:findViewObject>
    </bc4j:findRootAppModule>
    </event>
    I'm use the sortable columns with <bc4j:sortablecolumn> as:
    <bc4j:column attrName="NomTeste">
    <columnHeader>
    <bc4j:sortableHeader/>
    </columnHeader>
    <contents>
    <bc4j:input readOnly="true"/>
    </contents>
    </bc4j:column>
    But, the "Sort" event does not enable a manual control for call Java Class. When user click in any sortable column, occur the follow error:
    oracle.jbo.SQLStmtException: JBO-27122: SQL error during statement preparation. Statement: SELECT A.COD_CLIENTE, A.NUM_TESTE, A.NOM_TESTE FROM TESTE A WHERE a.cod_cliente = :1 ORDER BY A.NUM_TESTE ASC
    Anybody know to implement this functionality ?

    Ok, the solution:
    Sort BC4J table with reduced view objects
