Sorting in new Music app

I've always used the "genre" category to quickly find music. The old iPod app would sort by artist within the genre category. There doesn't seem to be any logic to how the music is listed within the category with the new music app. I can't believe they didn't build a feature that would allow the user to resort in whatever order they wanted.

There is a new feature in iOS 7 that shows you all your purchases made with your Apple ID. To disable this feature go to Settings > Music, then turn off Show All Music. This information can be found on the user guide below.

Very disappointed, the new music app in iOS5 hide my songs lyrics...that was one of my favorite features in the old iPod app! And now no multitouch gestures for iPad 1 user...I am very sad and disappointed.
Somebody know about a good music player app with the lyrics feature?

Well, at least they added multitasking gestures to the original iPad today (iOS 5.0.1). Fingers crossed they'll upgrade the Music App in the near future.

Enhanced podcasts not working in iOS 5; new music app keeps crashing

I just updated to iOS5 and regularly view enhanced podcasts. after the update, I can no longer figure out how to view the enhanced version anymore. I get the sound, but the image does not change. Can anybody please help?
on top of this the new music app in iOS5 keeps crashing and I have to restart the iPad all the time.

Having the same issue except for the crashes. Everything seems to be working, just not the way it used to. The enhanced podcasts were great, the ones that I subscribed to changed the backgrounds often and linked to other sites and gave some great info. Now... Nothing!
I have been reading that everyone is having issues with podcasts and the button to get new episodes, or whatever it was called, and this may just be another glitch. I sure wish they could fix it. I listen to podcasts more that I ever listened to music.

Video playlists in the new music app on the iPad 2 are empty

Video playlists in the new music app are empty, they use to play on the iPod app before the os5 upgrade. The videos playlistists show up in iTunes under the iPad app when connected to my pc, but not when disconnected. Is there a way to fix this? Very frustrating.

Inconvenience and gaps in the new "Music" app. (iOS 5.1.1)

Is there anyone else who is unhappy with the changes in iOS 5.1.1?
I am very disappointed how to use the "Music" app. in iOS 5.1.1 after the interface has changed.
In the new interface we have NOT:
1    Left-side navigation panel
2    "List" view for Playlist mode ... only "Cover flow" view
3    Alphabetical sorting of Playlist is stupid - Starting A-Z for "smart" playlist first, and then again A-Z for "regular" playlist.

Your iPod touch running OS 4.2 has a ZOOM feature which will enable you to see the screen more clearly.
To turn Zoom on or off got to:
Settings > General > Accessibility > Zoom and tap the Zoom On/Off switch.

_Large Text_:
Large Text lets you make the text larger in alerts, and in Calendar, Contacts, Mail, Messages, and Notes. You can choose 20-point, 24-point, 32-point, 40-point, 48-point, or 56-point text.
Set the text size: In Settings, choose General > Accessibility, tap Large Text, then tap the text size you want.
I hope this has helped a little - other than this option I think it pretty much is what it is.

Sort albums in music app

My albums in the music app are sorted by the album title. Is there any way to sort them by the album artists instead?
I have an iPod Touch 3rd gen btw

Sorting Artists in the new music app

Is there a way to only show the artists whom I've synched to my iPhone instead of all the artists in my library? In the previous versions it would only show those synched on my phone. It's kind of hard to remember what I have synched and on a 16GB phone space is limited. I don't want to have to scroll through 150 artists to find which 10 0r 15 that I have on my phone.

Does anyone an issue with the new music app force closing?

So I got the new iPhone 4S and i'm trying to go through all of my albums by using Cover Flow. And then probably around half way through the screen lags and then force closes the app taking me back to the home screen. Any suggestions on what I should do?

Basics from the manual are restart, reset, restore.
Have you tried each of these?

Why can't I just download the old iPod app? The new music app offers NO podcast support?

I just downloaded and installed os5, and now all of my podcasts are gone (everything else is fine), and there is no program that will play them when I download them again.
What is going on? Why can't I just go get the old iPod app, it worked fine.

Mine plays them fine ... But it did move the Podcast button off the main page. Click on "More" and then you should see them. You might want to make sure that iTunes is still syncing podcasts to your phone.
If you click "edit" (top left) you can move it back to the bottom row.

IPod/Music App in iOS5 not sorting artist list alphabetically

I've got what it seems to be an annoying bug from the new Music App/iPod in iOS5. It simply sorts my artists out of alphabetical order on the artist dashboard. I tried to use the option "group by album artist" on and off and it seems to have no effect on that issue.
I also found a way to fix it temporally, erasing all music data, and resyncing all the playlists/selected albums. But whenever I sync again to add a new album or playlist, it messes up with the alphabetical order again. Anyone with the same problem? Is there a bug fix, workaround?

I have the same problem, I called apple about it. they recommended that I killed the music on the device and then remove the .itl file. after completing those steps to no avail decided to remove the music from the device and then reinstall itunes as this was the next step according to the apple technician. nada. I was replacing my laptop that I sync with anyway so I moved the music to my new pc and re-added all music to itunes. before syncing I /completly/ wiped my device! synced for the first time everything went well. added additional music and viola *Problem Happen*! I know this isnt really that big of an issue but c'mon I thought that updating to 5.01 last night would help but no joy there either! hopfully some of you have better luck than I did, I will be calling apple today I guess. BTW, does anyone know where the indexing for the artist lists happen? is it in itunes or on the device itself. that may help in determining where the problem is actually created.

Can't check for new podcast episodes in iOS 5 Music app any more on iPad

Hi, in the old iPod app on the iPad, I could check for new episodes for podcasts and download them directly on the iPad. I haven't found this functionality in the new Music app. Is this gone? I liked it a lot when traveling with the iPad.
Or did I just miss on how to activate it?

I didn't know the iPhone still had it. But... the whole thing is a stupid joke anyway.
"Get More Eposides..." when viewing an individual epiosde is a petty excuse for a feature. What iOS really needs is an "Refresh" button just like iTunes, so I can update every podcast with one button and without leaving the Music app. Anything less is retar-ded.
5 iOS releases and I'm still waiting for this. And iOS 5 on iPad is even worse than the lame excuse for a feature we had before. The implementation of podcast subsrciptions on iOS feels like nothing more than an April Fools' joke.
I wouldn't mind but at this stage what we should really have is background download for podcasts on iOS ala Newsstand.

All my audio Podcasts play at half speed in the new iOS 5 Music app. Where to find the speed change control that was there in iOS 4.x?

In iOS 4.x there was a button that changed from 1X to 2X to 1/2X and changed the play speed of the podcast. I can not find it in the new Music app in iOS5, but it seems to be set to 1/2X at the moment. How can I change this?

have the same problem, mine is now playing all at half speed, but only with podcasts! I normally play podcasts at 2x speed but the speed button has disappeared in iOS5, so - this is abviously a bug or the soft reads the old setting from somewhere - and there is no way resetting it - so I hope apple will fix this soon, I really play podcasts every day. and the iPhone is not loud enough and it's batteries aren't cool by design. so..
just to support your problem, maybe there's a free player somewhere until apple fixes that bug? (yes, it is a bug - read this problem in several other forums)

Since the ios7 1st update am Waiting for Music app to be updated. I liked iphone music app, and i thought i could get in my ipad also but sad !
since that day am waiting for music app update. In real words you guys f****d up the MUsic app. you should have make it better than iOS 6 but its such a crap i cant even think of opening it.
There are no any major Pros if you guys compare it with iOS 6 Music app and Cons are First of all App is not Good in Looks Second, there were no need to show album art in Songs List & Third, it could not show Now Playing screen when you tap on album art such as in Itunes desktop app.
Guys if you Cannot update the app then Please give us iOS 6 Music app back.

The new Music app in iOS7 is horrible. Reduced functionality and the functionality that is there doesn't make intuitive sense.
My main issues/corrections:
1) Give the user an option to display, or not display, the large album art beside the Artist listing. The large album art beside each Artist takes up too much room and conveys no useful information.
2) Within each Artist allow the user to select a listing of the albums (as in iOS6). Scrolling through albums does not make sense. Allow the user to select from a list!
3) Within each Artist allow the user to sort the albums alphabetically. Sort the albums by title NOT date! Why sorting albums by date?
4) Within each Artist replace the selection to play all songs (as in iOS6). In iOS7 only option is to shuffle play the songs.
As it stands now in iOS7 the Music app has reduced functionality and is a horrible experience for the user.
