Sorting of photos on Ipad

I transferred a lot of photos (about 3000) to my Ipad as I will be using it mainly for that purpose.
The photos were transferred in the folders as I had it, but completely random in the folder, not sorted by filename.
Any suggestions how I get it to sort to filename order?

The ipad sorts based on date, plus other criterea.
Go to the app store and read about an app called "Sort Shot". It provides for some good photo management capabilities, including multiple sorting logic.

  • Is there any way to sort photos on iPad

I have iPad 2 and use iCloud to put photos from iPhoto (Macbook Pro) to iPad which works wonderful!!!  I would like to sort the photos by name if possible, but cannot find any way to do this.  It seems tthat iCloud adds most of the new photos at the bottom of the iPad file, but sometimes, it inserts a photo in the middle of the file.  I use the photos as reference for painting and would like some order to them.  Any help would be appreciated.

It's easier to use 3rd party apps like Photo Manager Pro. You can drag the photos around like the way you do with apps.

  • Sort photo in iPad

    Hi, my name is massimo.
    My father bought an ipad.
Unfortunately he doesn't have a mac but,an (horrible) PC with Windows XP SP3.
I can't order the photos into ipad.
I tried some guides, but in spite of having changed the EXIF metadata inside each picture, nothing will change.
    Can anyone help me?
    Thanks and forgive my English

After downloading all kinds of things that didn't work & spending about a million hours arranging everything in an unsatisfactory way through iPhoto -
    I FINALLY FIGURED THIS OUT!
I personally have lots of files inside sub-folders inside other sub-folders.
They all transferred perfectly with subfolders in tact. All my files are JPGs & please note that PDFs wont transfer.
    You DO NOT need iPhoto.
You can import as many folders, sub-folders as you like directly from your computer via wi-fi.
Download an app called 'Photo-Sort' & plug your ipad into your computer via USB.
Open the app & click the little radar icon (third one in at the bottom of the ipad screen). A little window pops up to say FTP enabled. Leave it up & go to your main computer.
If you don't already have an FTP loader on your main computer - download one called 'CyberDuck' from CNET for free. That's what I used.
Open CyberDuck & click 'Open Connection'.
In the 'Server' field - type:
    192.168.10.132
In the 'Port' field - type:
    8080
Choose 'Anonymous' as your Username & then click 'Connect'.
Now - all you have to do is drag your folder(s) directly from your desktop into that CyberDuck window.
As they load - a second window pops up called 'Transfer' and you can see them uploading.
    Once they're all loaded -
simply go back to your iPad & click 'Disable FTP Server'.
They will all show up on your ipad after you do that & It will work just like your folder structure on your regular computer. You can even rename / see the names of all your photos (which is something you can't do through the regular ipad Photo app).

  • Can I sort my photos to a different order than by date of creation?

I want to sort my photos differently on ipad than date of creation.

  • Imported photos to ipad they are not looking the same

i had synced photos to ipad from PC(windows XP) using itunes on PC. After Syncing they are not looking similar they are looking like negatives of original images on PC..

I BELIEVE it orders them in date taken order, not name order.
You can look for a third party app that will allow you to choose/alter the sort order, or use a program to edit the properties of the photos to give them all the same date, which will then allow the iPad to default to name order. I found a free program that'll do that, but you may want to preserve the original dates on your photos so the other photos app might be yoru best bet. I'm not familiar with any but perhaps someone can recommend one to you.

  • Suddenly I cannot get photos from iPad onto my Mac.

From the beginning, I simply connected the iPad2 to my Mac with the USB, and all photos were uploaded onto my Mac. I've followed all the directions to get updates for both Mac and iPad2. Now none of my new photos upload onto the Mac. Can you help?

I'm not sure how you were importing the photos on your Mac but the two ways that I know of are with iPhoto and Image Capture.
Open iPhoto and go to Preferences>General>Connecting Camera Opens - and you can select iPhoto or Image Capture.
Connect your iPad to your Mac and Open Image Capture. Click on devices and then at the bottom of the left side you can select - Connecting this iPad Opens - and choose the app of your choice from there. These are copied and pasted from Help in the two applications.
When you connect the iPad now, one of the chosen applications will open and let you import the images.
    To import photos from iPad:
Connect your iPad to your computer using the Dock Connector to USB cable that came with your iPad.If iPhoto wasn’t already open, it opens for you (unless you changed this preference in iPhoto or your iPad is locked). After your iPad is connected and turned on, iPhoto opens in import view and your iPad appears in the Source list.
By default, iPhoto divides photos into separate Events during the import process. You can optionally enter a description in the Event Name field. If you don’t want iPhoto to automatically create events, deselect the Split Events checkbox at the bottom of the window. If you want to change the time frame used to sort your photos into Events, you can change it in iPhoto preferences.
If you don’t want to see photos that you’ve already imported into iPhoto, select the Hide Photos Already Imported checkbox at the bottom of the window.
    Do one of the following:
To import all the photos shown in the iPhoto window, click Import All.
To import a selection of photos, press the Command key while clicking photo thumbnails, or drag to select a group of photos, and then click Import Selected.
To cancel photo transfer at any time during your import, click Stop Import. Then, in the dialog that appears, choose to continue importing the photos, keep the photos that have been imported and stop importing the remaining photos, or delete the photos that have been imported.
After the import process is finished, drag the device icon to the iPhoto Trash, and then disconnect your iPad from your computer by unplugging the Dock Connector to USB cable.Important:  Before you disconnect your iPad, wait until all photos have been imported into iPhoto (or until you click Stop Import).
This is from Image Capture. I'm assuming you used Image Capture.
    Transferring items automatically
You can automatically transfer items from your camera to your computer whenever you connect the camera to your computer.
To transfer items whenever you connect your camera:
Connect your camera to your computer, and turn the camera on.
Select the camera in the Devices list at the left of the Image Capture window.
From the “Connecting this [device] opens” pop-up menu, choose AutoImporter. If you don’t see that pop-up menu, click the “Show device settings” button in the lower-left corner.
The next time you connect your camera, Image Capture transfers images from the camera to the AutoImporter folder in your Pictures folder (in your home folder).

  • Import photos to ipad

I will be receiving an iPad soon.
My photos are all on Aperture.   How can I import them onto the iPad? Will the 32 hold a great many photos?
Will  I be able to maintain and view the keywords and other photo info on the iPad?
    asuch

Yes metadata will remain in the photos. The photo App will look at the capture date and sort the photos accordingly. Other apps might do more with the metadata.
The photos are optimized before they are synced through iTunes. They usually end up at 2048 pixel resolution (to allow zooming in). These files are aprox 600-800 kb.
How much space you have on your iPad depends on how many apps you have installed, how many songs and videos and other data. To stay on the safe side, let's assume you have about 20 gb free space available. That would allow you to keep at least 25,000 photos on your iPad.

  • How can I transfer photos from ipad 1 to pc

    I have an ipad 1 - ios 5.1.1
I want to transfer the photos on the ipad to a windows 8 pc.
Should be a really simple operation - yes? wrong.
After visiting 30+ webpages, downloading various 3rd party software (and deleting them again) - I am still unable to transfer photos from my ipad to a windows pc.
I connect the ipad 1 to a pc using cable.
    PC shows ipad.
Then you get the option to import photos (Which 20+ websites just repeat).
Contained in the DCIM Folder is 2 thumbnail photos. Yes - just 2. Two.
Stored on the ipad is nearly 3,000 photo's. NOT 2!
So how do you move photos from an ipad to PC?
    Next problem.
Someone recommended using Syncios - wonderful.
    All photos found.
All photos copied - except they are copied as thumbnails.
It would seem that ipad stores your photos as a thumbnail - but when you email the photo the true size is sent. (Thumbnail is 11kb - when I attach the same photo to an email it shows it as 1.1mb)
So - apart from creating and sending 3000 emails - so that I can transfer photos at their original resolution - HOW DO YOU TRANSFER PHOTOS FROM IPAD 1 TO A PC.
Apple really couldn't have made a 30second operation more difficult - or deliberately impossible.
There is NO option to do this via iTunes.
I can transfer photos from a PC to iPad using iTunes - but not the other way around.
So - please - does anyone have a degree in astro-physics that can explain how a person is supposed to transfer full sized photos, that are stored as thumbnails - from an iPAD 1 to a Win 8 pc?
ps... and yes I am irritated. This has taken me 2 days so far, and still unable.
pps... and no, I really don't need people posting - oh yes I have the same problem... I need answers.

HHow did the photos get on your iPad? since the original iPad does not have a camera, the photos were either received in emails, copied from the web or synced from your computer. If they were copied from emails or the web they should be available to copy off the iPad using whatever Camera or image capture application you have on your computer. Connect your iPad, start the application and transfer the photos.
if the photos were synced from your computer, they should still be on the computer used to sync from.

  • How do i transfer photos from ipad to MacBook Pro about 100

After update to yosemite i have about 150 photos that are on my ipad and not on MacBook Pro.  Is there a way to sync the photos from ipad to computer

I did sync thro iTunes so will have to import them where i can find them...yuck
The synced photos should be in an album in the "Albums" tab of your iPod.
As long as you did not transfer  the synced photos to your computer do on no account activate "iCloud Photo Library Beta" on your iPad. That will wipe all synced photos from the iPad.
You can't reimport pictures synced from your computer to your device back to your computer. You can only import pictures in the Camera Roll or Saved Photos from your device to your computer. If you need to retrieve synced photos from your device:
Email them from the device to yourself.
Copy them from the emails to your computer.

  • When I'm streaming photos to ipad from my PC, those will be in a streamed area. They do not show up in "pictures", and I'm not able to put them into an album. I'm using icloud. Are there any solutions of my problem?

I would like to make an album at my Ipad. The first pictures I transfered, did get into "pictures", and I could make a photo album. Later I did get them into streamed areas, but they did not get any ways to make an album. They did not apply to "pictures", and when I make an album and tries to import the pictures, the streamed pictures do not show up. What can be done?

  • Unable to delete photos from iPad with Image Capture or PhoneView

I recently downloaded about 50GB of photos to my iPad. They are RAW+JPG. Some of the RAWs are from a new camera that does not have RAW support on the Mac yet.
Using Image Capture I downloaded all the photos to my Mac. They all have the green check-mark next to them indicating they have been downloaded.
After confirming that the images transferred without becoming corrupted, I went back to Image Capture and selected all, then hit the Delete button. I confirmed that I really want to delete them all permanently.
Then a little floating window appears that says "Deleting..." and it stays like that for a long time. Eventually Image Capture simply loses its connection with the Mac and simply leaves this console message:
    5/22/12 10:58:38.494 AM com.apple.launchd.peruser.503: ([0x0-0x91091].com.apple.PTPCamera[9744]) Exited with code: 255
Back on the iPad, I see that some of the JPEG-format photos have been deleted while the RAWs that went with them are still there. Meanwhile for many others, both the RAW & JPEG both still remain.
Any ideas what might cause this? Is it because the Mac doesn't yet have support for the RAW file and therefore doesn't recognize it as an "image" file?

  • What is the best way to scan and sort old photos in iPhoto

What is the best way to scan and sort old photos in iPhoto?  They do not have digital dates.

    Hey Chicago Sue,
Once you scan them and have them on your desktop. You should use Automator and assign the common IPTC tags to the images, so that when you do import them into iPhoto, they get recorded.
Here is an example of an action in Automator:
