Sorting out freezes in Vista
I've been having multiple problems with Adobe Premiere Elements on Vista since i bought it about a week ago. i cannot do ANYTHING (even import video files) without the whole screen freezing and me having to restart the computer. bear in mind that I can still move the mouse, however ctrl+alt+delete fails to work and i cannot click anything.
okay guys, i am going to copy and paste the system requirements for you so that you can see if your computer actually meets them. I realised that whilst i'm having problems, I should at least attempt to help others too! to check, go onto (Vista) control panel/system and maintenance/system .
~ 2GHz processor with SSE2 support; 3GHz processor required for HDV or Blu-ray; dual-core processor required for AVCHD
~ Microsoft® Windows® XP with Service Pack 2, Windows Media Center, Windows Vista®, or Windows 7
~ For Windows XP: 512MB of RAM (2GB required for HD editing, including HDV, AVCHD, or Blu-ray)
~ For Windows Vista and Windows 7: 1GB of RAM (2GB required for HD editing, including HDV, AVCHD, or Blu-ray)
~ 4.5GB of available hard-disk space
~ Color monitor with 16-bit color video card with up to date drivers
~ 1,024x768 monitor resolution at 96dpi or less
~ Microsoft DirectX 9 or 10 compatible sound and display driver
~ DVD-ROM drive (compatible DVD burner required to burn DVDs; compatible Blu-ray burner required to burn Blu-ray discs)
~ DV/i.LINK/FireWire/IEEE 1394 interface to connect a Digital 8 DV or HDV camcorder, or a USB2 interface to connect a DV-via-USB compatible DV camcorder (other video devices supported via the Media Downloader)

I realised that actually I only have 1.60MHz and 1015MB RAM and so that's probably a contributing factor. but any other help that can be offered would be gratefully accepted!

With a minimal system, I would strongly recommend looking over the tips in this ARTICLE, which will help getting the very most from your computer, for an editing session.
There are several FAQ entries (accessed via the link to the right of the main forum screen), on optimizing Vista, one's computer, and also setup to help with video editing. I strongly recommend reading down those entries, as they are filled with great and useful tips.

Resolution

Check for .dll files
1. Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
2. If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
3. Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
1. Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
2. Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using theMicrosoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
3. Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.

Please sort out the V 11.1.4 problems as I cant get iTunes to work now. You need to have a new version asap
Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
iTunes
Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
Bonjour
Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
Please note:
Some users may need to follow all the steps in whichever of the following support documents applies to their system. These include some additional manual file and folder deletions not mentioned above.

How to sort out different issues on Satellite A505-S6973
Can anyone tell me, if the warranty period on my laptop has not passed, can i return my laptop to toshiba and have all my issues sorted out. Would there be a cost to do whatever repairs software related needs be done and how i am supposed to go about it because my laptop is beginning to have all sorts of little errors, i noticed that my harddrive has 156gb used although i have about 60 gigs in use.
A couple multimedia buttons aren't working but i touch them, my touchpad doesn't turn off with the hard button unless i turn it off using the FN key and my processor runs low but when i use a program i see it's reaching between 85 to 100% utilization.
I really like this laptop, but the issues i'm having i highly doubt it should operate this way.Hi mate
Software issues are not covered by warranty!
This means that you will have to pay for everything if the ASP technician would not find any problems!
This is why you should recover the notebook in order to check if its only a software related issue.

Reinstall the VAP (value added package) and flash cards utility

This is not a bug or hardware problem. You will notice this CPU behavior because the CPU supports an feature which helps to save the power and reduce the heat dissipation -

If the accounts are on the same computer, you should not have to use a different e-mail address. If your son's account is not an Administrator account, this may be the issue. Are you able to launch VirusBarrier from your son's account from Applications>Intego?

Yes I am able to do that and the issue that we were having seems to have settled down after the computer crashed and I restarted it by resetting PRAM and repairing the disk. Can you help me understand what to do about the issues that the console in utilities is logging frequently? both before and since the crash yesterday; (see below)

I have been using Family Barrier for a couple of years now, and may I say, it has so many problems that as soon as I can find a better alternative, I'm gone. Until that day, however, I expect some solutions.
Issue #1: The application is 100% unreliable. The chances of it doing its job on any given day are seriously 50/50. Or worse. This alone renders the program useless. But that's not all.
Issue #2: It's unbelievably easy to override. Are you seriously unaware that all one has to do is change the date on the computer to one before Family Barrier was installed, it will 100% not do its job. Awesome. This is straight out of Hacking 101, and any program should be able to defend against it. Otherwise, any demo I try download can be made to work forever. While some are, most are not. Get it together, People.
Of course, making time changes impossible can be done from my end by the keeping admin password unknown to the protected user, but what if the protected user needs admin access? That happens to be my case. Nonetheless, I was willing to block admin access to fix the problem until you could tell me that YOU'VE done your job and taken care of it (you will tell me that, right?). But then I was left with Issue #1 (remember? the one where it only works 50% of the time at best?), so what's the point?
I thought I'd try reinstalling it again, just for fun. I've done this before and it's worked TEMPORARILY (tell me the truth, would you pay for an application that constantly had to be re-installed so that it would work for a while? the truth, now). Why am I not surprised that now even that simple process is f'ing up. I punch in my name and serial and it won't accept it. Is there no end to the awesomeness? Somehow, I think that there is not.
It's especially frustrating that there is no support number for me to call, forcing me to have to go through THIS process, which makes your job so much easier and is so much less helpful for your customers) just to get any answers... eventually. -
I have downloaded and installed the latest version of numbers on my mac. Everytime I save and then try to reopen that document, I receive a message telling me that I need a new version of numbers. Also, when I try to sort the date column, it sorts out of order. The last version sorted fine.

When you install the new iWork version, the old iWork version is kept, so it looks like you are opening your old version.
To fix this, open a Finder window, choose Applications in the sidebar and drag the new Numbers version to the Dock, so you can access to it quickly. Open all documents from this version. I don't recommend you to delete the old Numbers version in case you need it.
Respecting to the second question, you will get better answers in the Numbers for OS X forum -
I need an algorithm that is based on the same sorting-algorithm that Labview uses (or one that is just as fast) but it only needs to sort out the N lowiest elements (and the N-element output array don't need to be sorted).

You can se the algorithm that I'm looking for as a soft version of Labviews own sort algorithm that only gives you the N (always less then the length of the array) lowiest values as output.If two elements contain the same small value both should be sorted out.

Back up your iTunes before doing any sorting. If you remove something you didn't intend to then a backup is the best way to get it back. -
Apple Senior tech lady deleted all my external drive data while sorting out other problem. How can I restore all my photos , music etc back to my Mac Pro?(I am so scared, I haven't connected iPhone to sync! Please help)
It was tele tech. I couldn't open my Page Numbers etc. Frist tech chat idiot - following dumping few things in bin, asked me yo upgrade to Yosemite. But the problem still persists. This morning I was asked to do it via telephone and like yesterday, after wasting 20 min, I was put to this apparent Tech Queen ( my foot!). She eventually decided to reinstall Yosemite asked me to connect my external drive while I connected to her. She was moving cursor asking me to move files and delete and I followed her like a dummy. It took 3/4 hours and she called me 3 times once the lengthy process was completed. I suspected from the beginng for the fact that why should be asking me to click all my backup from the very beginning! Eventually she said I deleted... Or someone else or may be my children ! It was a blatant lie. I run my small business from home and I was simply staying in front of the Mac whole day! Children were at school. Then she said I must have used another computer! I only have laptop and the iPad. I will talk to their manager first thing in the morning. In the mean time please let me know as to how can I transfer photos, music etc back to my laptop from my Iphone and IPad .? I am will connect to laptop as I am worried the new BLANK iPhoto may supersede iphone/iPad stuff? Will it? Please let me know. I am not a very tech savvy person. My son who could help me, is in Manchester Uni and Inam in London.

I am trying to sort out a friends macbook that has been subjected to a scam attack. I am a pc user so am struggling here a bit. Her machine seems to have been attacked by a program called MacSecurity. It is telling her that she has a number of viruses, etc and she needs to register to get rid of them. A **** page keeps trying to open as well. This type of scam is often found on PC's and is easy to remove.
After scouring the internet for solutions and came accross 2 programs that are said to remove it - I installed them and neither have worked. The programs i tried were MacScan 2 and iAntivirus. Both are free programs.
Can anyone help please.See this discussion for instructions on removing the trojan.

Open Application > Utilities > System Profiler and check the Quicktime version in Frameworks vs. the version in Applications. One person had re-installed their operating system. It had kept the newer Player application but had reverted to an earlier version of the underlying support framework files which many applications utilize. Re-installing Quicktime 7.7 took care of the problem. Do this manually, not with Software Update.

Help me sort out the problems with Java 2 SDK SE
I install Java SDK 2 standard Eddition version 1.4 in my computer (Window NT4). When I test the installation by typing in "java -version", it displays the following message.

Why won't Apple sort out greyed wifi?
My phone is nearly three months out of warranty. I took it to our nearest Apple store(70 miles away) and was told that it's not an uncommon problem (and after reading other pages about it, I feel it's quite a common problem that Apple DO know about). It's an unrepairable problem I was told but I could have a replacement phone for £139.
If I had dropped or damaged my phone in any other way, I would've paid up for a replacement but when it's a hardware problem that I have no control over, why should I pay?
My phone contract is for two years so they obviously expect the Iphone to be fit for purpose for that long. Can and is Apple trying to sort out this problem?First, we're users here, not Apple. We cannot speak to what Apple's doing any more than you can.
Second, do you know how many millions of iPhone 4S's there are out there? Because a handfull of people are having your isses, in no was does this mean there's a common problems.
Apple, like all reputable manufacturers, warranties their hardware to be free of defect for ONE YEAR. You have the ability to purchase Apple Care in many places, to extend this to TWO YEARS. Apple lived up to it's contractual obligations with you. Had you had a hardware failure within a year, your device would have been replaced free of charge. The fact that you're under contract with your mobile provider is irrelevant. That's between you and your mobile provide, not between you and Apple.
Your warranty expired. Period. That's life. Pay for an out of warranty replacement device or get a new phone (Apple or other). Move on.

My credit card no longer exists how can the online subscription now be sorted out by my company
My credit card used for the CC subscription no longer exists - the card was being debited monthly. How can my company sort out the payment and how can I ensure my usage of CC is not stopped in the interim. I have tried the chat helpline several times but although it says there are consultants available the second screen always says there are several customers before me and I never get helped.
I am stuck with a similar problem. I moved from Ireland to the UK but for some reason, iTunes would not let me change the country in my payment information, it remains Ireland. I do not have any credit to spend and I still cannot change it. I even set up a new iTunes account and the country still remains uncangable. Hence, I cannot add the details of my UK card as iTunes believes it is set in Ireland. Have you managed to solve your problem?
