Sorting out "thumbnails without photo" ?
Hi, when I click on a thumbnail to open a photo I, on some thumbnails, get a message saying that the file can not be found. Annoying! Is there a way to sort out these "thumbnails without photo" /Kjell
If you write your tags to file(I think in 11 it has changed to metadata, it is under file) all your tags will be placed within each photo, this way you don't lose your organization. At this point you have a few solutions, all a lot of work.
You can have PSE look for duplicates and start churning through the results. I haven't been impressed by this approach, not very robust.
If you find an outside pgm just have it churn through your pictures. I have never used these but if there is a good one I would like to know.
Since you have written your tags to file you can reload all your pictures into a new catalog. I think you will lose your Albums, stacks and version sets, but that may be a small price to pay to get yourself out of the duplicate problem. This approach gives you the most control and I feel is not as overwhelming if you just do a folder at a time.
Good luck in this project.
I would suggest you do a backup frrequently, minimally once a week.
Maybe someone will come up with a better solution.

I've transfered photo albums from iPhoto to my iPhone using iTunes and all the thumbnails are visible, but some albums (randomly) do not seem to contain the full resolution photos. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?
The thumbnails (very small copies) of your images are stored in a single file : thumbs.5.cache, which is to be found in the folder containing your catalog. That file is a sqlite database which includes a binary field to store the thumbnail. Since it's not an image file format, only the organizer can use the thumbnails. Those thumbnails can't be enalarged to a usable size. The best you can do would be to take a screenshot individually.
Starting a new catalog (not a new album) would keep the thumbnails.
Instead of creating a new catalog, you could copy it from the Windows explorer.
- first find the location of the catalog (in the help/system info menu of the organizer)
- make a copy of the whole folder somewhere else
- double click the database file (catalog.psexxdb) in the copy to open it. (It will be named with the name of the new folder)
- the new catalog will be found under 'custom location' in the catalog manager. You can move it from the catalog manager to the default 'accessible to all users' location. -

It was tele tech. I couldn't open my Page Numbers etc. Frist tech chat idiot - following dumping few things in bin, asked me yo upgrade to Yosemite. But the problem still persists. This morning I was asked to do it via telephone and like yesterday, after wasting 20 min, I was put to this apparent Tech Queen ( my foot!). She eventually decided to reinstall Yosemite asked me to connect my external drive while I connected to her. She was moving cursor asking me to move files and delete and I followed her like a dummy. It took 3/4 hours and she called me 3 times once the lengthy process was completed. I suspected from the beginng for the fact that why should be asking me to click all my backup from the very beginning! Eventually she said I deleted... Or someone else or may be my children ! It was a blatant lie. I run my small business from home and I was simply staying in front of the Mac whole day! Children were at school. Then she said I must have used another computer! I only have laptop and the iPad. I will talk to their manager first thing in the morning. In the mean time please let me know as to how can I transfer photos, music etc back to my laptop from my Iphone and IPad .? I am will connect to laptop as I am worried the new BLANK iPhoto may supersede iphone/iPad stuff? Will it? Please let me know. I am not a very tech savvy person. My son who could help me, is in Manchester Uni and Inam in London.

Hello, I have been exporting my photos with a watermark. Without changing any settings, half way through my day things changed, and now about 1 out of 7 photos have the watermark after export. Change you help me change this back please? Has anyone had this issue before?

Let's get to the bottom of this issue, first please confirm your phone model; your mention that you have the iPhone 5 but your post is on the iPhone 5S forum. Also, share the iOS version currently installed on your phone. What is your ZIP code? Does this happen mainly while you make/receive calls from a particular location (home, office, etc)?

How do I zoom in and out in a photo
I am complete new to using a MAC and Iphoto. Can I zoom in and out of a photo to do close up editing?
Is Iphoto the only program I need to edit and retouch photos? If not, can someone recommend a simple and inexpensive program?I find the zoom slide quite easily when using the computer screen on my Macbook. However, when I project the images onto a screen the slide for some reason disappears. Any ideas?

Grey thumbnails in photo roll of Iphone
Dear friends,
I have the following problem.
Sometime ago I saw that most all photos in photo roll of my Iphone 4 (5.1. iOs, no jailbreak) are very pixelized. Though, the same photos in photo stream were absolutely ok.
I checked that I have a fresh back up on iCloud and decided to make the full reset.
After restoration, I found out that pixelized photos are now grey with inscription "jpg" without image - just this text.
Please advise me, how can I get ,y photos back?

How to sort out different issues on Satellite A505-S6973
Can anyone tell me, if the warranty period on my laptop has not passed, can i return my laptop to toshiba and have all my issues sorted out. Would there be a cost to do whatever repairs software related needs be done and how i am supposed to go about it because my laptop is beginning to have all sorts of little errors, i noticed that my harddrive has 156gb used although i have about 60 gigs in use.
A couple multimedia buttons aren't working but i touch them, my touchpad doesn't turn off with the hard button unless i turn it off using the FN key and my processor runs low but when i use a program i see it's reaching between 85 to 100% utilization.

Software issues are not covered by warranty!
This means that you will have to pay for everything if the ASP technician would not find any problems!
This is why you should recover the notebook in order to check if its only a software related issue.

Reinstall the VAP (value added package) and flash cards utility

This is not a bug or hardware problem. You will notice this CPU behavior because the CPU supports an feature which helps to save the power and reduce the heat dissipation -

If the accounts are on the same computer, you should not have to use a different e-mail address. If your son's account is not an Administrator account, this may be the issue. Are you able to launch VirusBarrier from your son's account from Applications>Intego?

I have been using Family Barrier for a couple of years now, and may I say, it has so many problems that as soon as I can find a better alternative, I'm gone. Until that day, however, I expect some solutions.
Issue #1: The application is 100% unreliable. The chances of it doing its job on any given day are seriously 50/50. Or worse. This alone renders the program useless. But that's not all.
Issue #2: It's unbelievably easy to override. Are you seriously unaware that all one has to do is change the date on the computer to one before Family Barrier was installed, it will 100% not do its job. Awesome. This is straight out of Hacking 101, and any program should be able to defend against it. Otherwise, any demo I try download can be made to work forever. While some are, most are not. Get it together, People.
Of course, making time changes impossible can be done from my end by the keeping admin password unknown to the protected user, but what if the protected user needs admin access? That happens to be my case. Nonetheless, I was willing to block admin access to fix the problem until you could tell me that YOU'VE done your job and taken care of it (you will tell me that, right?). But then I was left with Issue #1 (remember? the one where it only works 50% of the time at best?), so what's the point?
I thought I'd try reinstalling it again, just for fun. I've done this before and it's worked TEMPORARILY (tell me the truth, would you pay for an application that constantly had to be re-installed so that it would work for a while? the truth, now). Why am I not surprised that now even that simple process is f'ing up. I punch in my name and serial and it won't accept it. Is there no end to the awesomeness? Somehow, I think that there is not.
It's especially frustrating that there is no support number for me to call, forcing me to have to go through THIS process, which makes your job so much easier and is so much less helpful for your customers) just to get any answers... eventually. -
How to print out wallet size photos on 6510 e-all-in-one series photosmart printer
want to print out wallet size photos (size 3 and a half x 2 and a half). I have windows XP and my printer is the photosmart 6510 e-all-in-one series
You will have to change the settings in the photo editing software and put 2 wallets on a 4x6 or 9 wallets on a full page. The photo tray will not take paper smaller than 4x6.

There is nothing wrong with your Dell, it will work fine with any MacbookPro. I have been using Dell displays for over 12 years with many different Mac models. I have two 21" Ultra Sharp displays working side by side to design a Keynote presentation right now.
The issue your having is with the way Keynote takes control of the video output to both displays, it sends the presentation signal to one and the presenter display to the other, this is set up in;
Keynote preferences > Presenter display.
If you want to show a wesite or another app on either display, use application switcher:
press the the command key on the keyboard, then the tab key; a row of applications will show what applications are running, choose which one you want to show. Use command > tab to return to Keynote. -
I have downloaded and installed the latest version of numbers on my mac. Everytime I save and then try to reopen that document, I receive a message telling me that I need a new version of numbers. Also, when I try to sort the date column, it sorts out of order. The last version sorted fine.

When you install the new iWork version, the old iWork version is kept, so it looks like you are opening your old version.
To fix this, open a Finder window, choose Applications in the sidebar and drag the new Numbers version to the Dock, so you can access to it quickly. Open all documents from this version. I don't recommend you to delete the old Numbers version in case you need it.

I need an algorithm that is based on the same sorting-algorithm that Labview uses (or one that is just as fast) but it only needs to sort out the N lowiest elements (and the N-element output array don't need to be sorted).

You can se the algorithm that I'm looking for as a soft version of Labviews own sort algorithm that only gives you the N (always less then the length of the array) lowiest values as output.If two elements contain the same small value both should be sorted out.

Open the file with Preview, type Command + i to bring up the Info pane and it's color mode and profile will be listed as shown here:
To change the color mode to CMYK you'll need a 3rd party image editor like Photoshotp or GraphicConverter to do it. Why do you need CMYK?
