Sorting photos for slideshow on 5G 80GB iPod (Windows XPPro formatted)

I can successfully synch my ipod to a specific photo folder on my desktop, but I am unable to keep the sorting for a slideshow. The ipod manual describes using PhotoShop (Adobe) programs, etc. I do not have that, but would like to display a slideshow in order (sorted). I have numbered, named individual photos with no result. The Monster S video cable works great for viewing on a TV!!!
Any help sorting would be appreciated.

  • Sorting photos in slideshow in iPhoto 08

I created a slideshow for use in iDVD. But when I exported it to iDVD it reversed in order (the first photo is now a the end, etc). When I click "view" and "sort photos" none of the options such as "descending order" are allowed. I had already edited all 205 slides (Ken Burns effect, etc) so I hate to discard the slideshow and start over. Any ideas?

I think you posted in the wrong forum. You posted in the iPad forum.

  • What is the best method of ordering photos for slideshow

Hello - I am working on a photo slideshow for a 50th Anniversary party.  I have over 100 photos I am trying to put in order.  It is excruciating to use the filmstrip at the top of the screen.  Is there a better way to order them in a grid view or another application before I use them for the slideshow?
I thought of ordering them in the finder but that would mean I'd have to change the names of each of the photo files so they will stay in order when I import them.
I hope this isn't a crazy question....But it is driving me nuts!

Put them in an album, arrange manually to the order you want.  Select all and use the Photos ➙ Batch Change menu option.
Set the Title to Text option to the following:
That will give you Slide-01, Slide-02, etc.  Now select the sort order for the album to "By Title".  Then select all and create a slideshow to have all of the photos in the order you want.
When you're done with the slideshows the Titles can be reverted to the original via the Title to File Name option in the same window.

  • Resize photos for slideshow

    Hi All,
I use PSE3 for Mac and have been putting together a lot of slide shows and then burning them to DVD in iDVD. My problem is that all the portrait photos leave a black margin on either side of the photo when viewing the DVD on the television. I read that to eliminate that you are to use an imaging software and resize to 640 x 480. However, that isn't possible--when I do that the picture is all squished. Is there any way to work around getting that black margin on portrait photos for slide shows? The problem is eliminated when using landscape photos. That also brings up the problem with wide-screen viewing now that it looks like the industry is leading us by the nose into that format whether we like it or not! Does anyone have a solution or a way to work around this?
    Thanks!
    Debbie

You could try making a blank canvas of the correct dimensions, then copy your photo onto it. Now you can crop, resize, reposition, add text, graphics, or color blocks to fill the blank space etc.
This method would give you more control over what is seen in the final slide show.

  • Cannot sort photos in slideshow

When creating a slideshow it seem not to work as expected:
    1)
I cannot sort the photos as I want. When I drag and move a photo it reorders everything in a for me rabdom way and nothing is in the place I expected it to be.
    2)
I cannot edit text in the title line. When marking the text I can move the cursor through the characters but I cannot enter new or delete existing, it is like it is locked for editing.
    3)
There is no switch in the settings for "random order" as there use to be when playing a slideshow directly from an album.
    4)
    And more strange things....
    Help, Please

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Problem Sorting Photos in Slideshow

I created a slideshow, putting the photos in the desired order. Now, for a reason I cannot understand, that order is completely reversed--front to back. When I go to View-Sort, everything is grayed out.
Is there a keystroke that will reverse the order of the slides?

    Alpsteiner:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Select all of the photos in the thumbnail tray at the top and then drag the first slide to the far right of the tray and wait for the blue slider to move to the far right and then release. That will reverse the order of the entire slideshow.
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • How to add cations to photos for slideshow

How do I add captions to photos (to identify people or places) for a slideshow presentation? I'll be showing old photos and my audience won't know who is in the picture.

If you're running iPhoto 11 you can set the slideshow to display the title or title and descriptions or just descriptions in the Settings pane:
This only works in the Classic and Ken Burns themes.

  • What size to crop photos for slideshow

I want to play a slideshow of personal photos on my 17 in PowerBook. What size should I crop the photos so they look the best quality? Thank you.

You probably want to build this slide show from copies of the originals, so that in the future you can regenerate the slide show for whatever size screen you have in your laptop in, say, the year 2016.
If you want them to look perfect, crop them to the exact resolution of your PowerBook monitor. Depending on how new your PowerBook is, it might be 1440x900 (1.2 megapixels) or 1680x1050 (1.7 megapixels). Check your Displays system preference.
You can save disk space by cropping to a lower resolution like half resolution (720x450 or 840x525). They will lose quality but might look just fine. Do some tests.

  • Sorting Photos for Contact sheets

    Hello all,
My family just wants a basic photo archive using a contact sheet style. I can create a contact sheet style in the print options. That part is fine but the problem I'm having is that when I try to print the photos as a contact sheet, all the photo gets all unsorted even though the photos are all sorted by name in the iPhoto albums or events.  How do i correct this so that when print the albums as a contact sheet the photo will stay sorted by name.
    Thanks
p.s. I couldn't get this to work in iPhoto '09 and I have recently upgraded to iphoto '11 and the same problem still exists.

Contact sheets are only sorted by date.  So if you need to print a contact sheet sorted by name put the photos in an album and sort by name.  Then select all and use the Photos ➙ Batch Change ➙ Date menu option.  Use any date and add a couple of seconds between each photo.  Don't modify the original file.
Now when you go to print the contact sheet it will be sorted by date with will be the same as your sort by title.

  • CASE FOR 80GB IPOD CLASSIC

I want to buy a case for my 80gb ipod classic (iskin evo3) .... and when it says 30gb or 80gb...does that mean that they haven't updated to the new version of the ipod? or would it not make a difference in size?
thanks in advance for your help!!

I just received my 160 and promptly put it into the iSkin eVo3 caes. It fits snuggly. I don't notice any problems with it fitting. This is is the good news.
The sort of bad news is that the classic's scroll wheel is different somehow and doesn't always scroll properly through the iSkin's rubber. I sort of figured out that you have to first hold your thumb on the wheel for a second or two before you begin scrolling, as if the classic needs to feel its presence. Then you can begin scrolling and the ipod senses the thumb properly, though not as accurately as if the iskin wasn't on. If you take your thumb off the iskin for a few seconds you will have to retrain it again by waiting a couple secs before scrolling. A bit annoying but so far not a deal breaker for me. I'm more annoyed with the iSkin's magnet to lint/dust/hair.
BTW. i left the original plastic wrapping on the ipod before placing it in the iskin. The wrapping doesn't affect strolling when the ipod is not wearing its skin, but maybe the extra layer does make a difference when the iskin is on.

  • Hi there, I pay for extra iCloud space online. However I cannot seem to find any of my photos or account? As my iPod/iPhone only hold 1000 pictures, where are the previous pictures? And how can I access them?

You cannot use iCloud Storage to suppliment your iPad. They are mainly used to backup iPad.
    Free up space on iPad
Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Delete what is not needed to free up space on iPad.

    Self explanatory.
You could try creating an iPod version of the films.
Use CTRL and B to display the Menu bar shown above. Alternatively, use the ALT key, followed by the F key, the W key and finally the I (eye) key - that's (menu)/File/Create New Version/Create iPod or iPhone version.
