Sorting photos from scans of negatives

Ok, I took about 20 rolls of negatives to a photo lab and the tech did'nt really pay too much attention to the order of the strips in each roll.
I have sucsessful in seperating the photos in appropriate rolls and then dating each roll.
I also know i can change date of the pictures either individually or by batch, however the ORDER of the photos is completes arbitray. I have the original prints with the print number on the back of them. I additionally know I can assign individual times to each picture in batch, but the order they are in is all wrong within each roll.
Question: is there an easier way to re-order the photos other than assigning individual sequential times.
In other words, what I'm hoping is there is some sort of "jelly mode" where by you can drag the photos into any order you wish , and then have the dates assigned with a one minute differential based on the new dragged order.
Please help.
If you are a Mac Software designer for iPhoto, please include "jelly mode" in the next update/upgrade.

I don't think this is what you want, but...
You can set View>Sort Photos>Manually, but when I do that it sorts the whole library that way. It would be nice to be able to sort within the film rolls manually.

Edit: If you do get the photos in the order you want manually, you can go to Photos>Batch Change>Set Date and then you can set the date for the first photo and the time interval between each photo. I suppose you could make an album out of each roll, and sort manually within the album, then do the batch change.
Hopefully, someone else has a better idea on how to do this.

I have tried opening a file that has four pictures, and the "Divide Scanned Photos" is in grey and will not work. What would be the reason for this? Great, this is a huge timesaver. Wished it straightened automatically too though, as I have the trial downloaded for CS4 and it straightens as well.

How does Apple TV sort photos from Aperture?

I have arranged a set of photos in Aperture in a Project.
When I go to show these on the Apple TV, they appear randomly and not in the order that I have them in the Aperture Project.
How does Apple TV sort the photos that it reads from my Aperture project?
If I understand how it handles this, I can adjust the metadata to insure it shows as I want.

I figured it out. It is by the date and time code on the picture.

"Settings" refers to the Settings App which is on the Home App screen. Start the Settings App by touching it
General is a category of Settings which you then select. The same goes for Accessibility and then White on black which are subcategories.

If you have Aperture 3.3 or later and iPhoto 9.3 or later you can merge libraries with Aperture.
Otherwise the only way to merge Libraries is with the paid ($20) version of iPhoto Library Manager

IOS 7 iTunes 11.1.4 sort photos by name, not date

Hy, I'm running iOS 7.0.4 & iTunes 11.1.4.
I have a bunch of pics in folders that are incrementally named (001, 002 etc).
But when exporting them to my ipod touch, they are listed automatically by the date added.
How can I sort them by NAME and not by DATE on my ipod touch?

I have already tried downloading the drivers from Epson as per one person's suggestions, but the dialog box isn't anything like what was suggested--the choices in the box weren't the same for the most part. I don't want to lock up the computer or disable the printer for normal printing, but I have a lot of old negatives that I would love to have prints from.

I am using the latest software from Epson for Mac OS 10.10.2 that I downloaded last week. I seem to remember that the older software (we're talking 6-8 years ago) had to option to scan slides or negatives and would convert the results into positives via the scanner. I don't like the most recent scanning software because it jumps right into the scan before giving you a chance to change the options. It uses the selected options from the previous scan which are sometimes right, sometimes wrong. Thanks for your reply to my question!

What is the easiest way to sort photos within an album. I have photos from a trip but they are all mixed up. Photos from one part of the trip are showing up in other parts. Please help.

I have a MacBook Pro laptop and am trying to use iPhoto. I uploaded pictures but they uploaded out of order. Photos taken from different locations on my trip are all mixed up and I would like to sort them in chronological order. Things I have tried have been time consuming and often take several attempts before the moved photo "takes" to its new location within the album. You may have better luck posting in the iPhoto forum if no one on this forum is able to assist. I'm sure you are doing something wrong though.

After downloading photos from camera ... having problems sorting them ...

Once I have downloaded an assortment of photos from my camera, I place them into separate folders according to the category I have named. In so doing, the photos are in the album, but remain in the import file which for some reason did not do so whenever I performed this task. What now occurs, is when I go to remove the photos in the imported file, it also removes them from the album.
I am confused with what I am doing to cause this occurrence. I used to perform this task successfully when in the import screen without losing the photos once I placed them in their respective albums.
Need help to sort myself out. I am a stickler for categorizing my photos according to the occasion. It makes it so easy to retrieve them whenever I want to send them to friends or to groups.
Hope I can resolve my confusion in what I am doing wrong.

I used to be able to sort my imported photos without the aforementioned occurrence. It appears to occur using a new camera.

Thank you, Terence, for the information. I'm going to mull this over because what you have mentioned is rather abstract to my diminishing grey cells. When I returned to iPhoto, in the Photos' List, the photos I had categorized were in tact and none of the other photos were included.
Much for me to consider when importing photos and my placing them into folders but forget about 'trashing' what is in the Import file, because as you say, this is only a shortcut.
Again, thanks for shedding some light on my dimly lit understanding of iPhoto and its importing photos.

What version of iPhoto?
Select one and rotate it. Then rotate it back. Does that make it appear?
A much better work flow is the keep the photos after importing. Check the success the import, wait for at least one successful backup cycle then use you camera's format command to reformat the card
