Sorting playlists iOS

Android has a better playlist organization than iOS. They have the ability to alphabetize playlists and sort the downloaded playlists on top. Please bring it to iOS.

Sorting tracks within Playists in general would be a great help and also quite a basic feature on IOS I would have thought by now (£10 a month guys come on!)
• The default Spotify sorting of tracks within playlists on start up of the application is always set to be in order of  date the track was added , with the most recent at the bottom. -  This is annoying that the app won't remember your sort order, also that you cannot set a default sort order within settings.
• Same goes for IOS
Other than that just peachy :)

  • Music Sorting in iOS 7.1 (Issue)

    I know some people hated it, but iOS 7.0.x sorted music in the Music app by release date which I thought was awesome. Sorting by name also makes sense, so there's no reason why there shouldn't be an option for either. In iOS 7.1.x, the Music app continues sorting by release date, but in descending order (i.e. newest is always at the top of the list) rather than ascending (newest is always at the bottom of the list).
    This method of sorting seems utterly useless to me (why is there an implicit assumption in this design that I want the newest music of an artist at the top?), and now I can't just listen to an artist's entire discography in order, which I was thoroughly enjoying before this afternoon's update.
    I would VERY much like to see an option within the preferences for the Music app to sort albums by artist in ascending order (oldest album of an artist at the top, and newest at the bottom) as well as by name (in case someone doesn't care about release dates). I shouldn't have to make a playlist to play an artist's discography in order on my phone, especially when I don't have to do that on my computer.

    My music sorted in ascending order on iTunes, it has been since I've had iTunes. Prior to iOS 7.0.x, albums were sorted by name under the artist. In iOS 7.0.x, that changed, and albums were sorted by release date in ascending order (i.e. newest at the bottom). Now, in iOS 7.1.x, albums are sorted by release date in descending order (i.e. newest at the top).
    It was changed on your system, not mine.
    Mine were never sorted by release date. It has always been sorted Album by Artist.
    Try this.
    In iTunes, select the iPhone.
    Then go to iTunes menu View > View options and select a sort, then sync the iPhone.

  • Sorting Playlist

    I just bought my wife an iPod mini, in which my son created a playlist of 80's tunes for her. I forced both the album and the Genre to "80's Mix" of these songs in iTunes. I sort by either of those field in iTunes so they can all be selected easily and drag them to the iPod. When she plays those songs, they are always played in the order of the Artist, so all the same artist's song are played together. I would like them played by the order of name of the songs. How do I change the order of play?

    Did you ever find a solution to this? I am having the same issue. I dumped a bunch of songs into a playlist that I made. I clicked the "Name" column for this playlist in iTunes so the songs are listed in alpha order by song title rather than artist. However, on my iPod, they are still listed first my artist name order then by song order. I really hate this because it does not even show you the artist name unless you play the song.

  • Sorting playlists in ITunes 10

    I just downloaded ITunes 10, and when I was making the artwork larger in one of the playlist, I accidentally sorted by album name. In this list the track numbers are from the original albums, but that's not how I want them to go in the playlist (eg, I'd want to play track one of an album, then track five, then track two, then track four of a different album. I've tried all the sort options and none of them make it how I want it. It did let me click and drag the tracks at one point, but I don't know how I did it. Is there any way to organize the playlist the way I want without changing the track numbers on the original albums?

    I searched and searched for an answer, didn't see one, but sorry if this is a duplicate: Finally figured out how to undo sort by name/title/artist/etc columns after accidentally hitting the Name field and freaking out that there isn't an 'undo' option in iTunes! To get my playlist back to normal, what I did was sort my playlist by something I didn't need like 'play count'. Then right click at the top where the play count column title was. You will see all column options listed. Uncheck 'play count'. Walla, my playlist was back to normal!! phew...

  • Sorting playlist issue

    Hard to explain but I'll give it a go:
    I import all my old CDs into intunes and I number them 1-540 etc.
    I put the CD in the comments field.
    I sort the comments field everything is great.
    Then I make a master playlist with all songs in it.
    I then click in master playlist that far left field, and that sorts the track numbers perfectly, 1 or 20, 2 of 20 etc.
    This has been working great for first 540 CDs and then suddently the track nubmer sorting is not right.
    When I sort for comments 517 is not between 516 and 518 as it should be but at the bottom of the pile under 540. thanks

    Sort it the way you want, then right-click on the playlist name and click Copy to Play Order.

  • Sorting Playlist is a Challenge

    For some reasons I am not able to get the hang of sorting by multiple fields, for example, I have multiple playlists that I want sorted by Date Added descending, and within that by Album
    Example:
    Date Added 2009.09.15
    Album A1
    B1
    C1
    D1
    Date Added 2009.09.02
    Album A2
    B2
    C2
    .. and so on. Is it possible?

    But I believe that the OP wants to "reset the count",
    so to speak, on any line seperator character found in
    the original data. So, at most 70 chars per line, but
    possibly less if the original data contains a line
    seperator.
    Leeright, right...
    final char RETURN = '\n';
    StringBuffer buffer = new StringBuffer(input);
    int next = 0;
    int tempNext;
    do
       tempNext = buffer.toString().indexOf(RETURN, next);
       if (tempNext < next || tempNext > next + 70)
          next += 70;
       else
          next = tempNext;
       if (next > buffer.length())
          break;
       buffer.insert(RETURN, next);
       next++;
    } while(next < buffer.length())

  • Sorting Playlist order?

    This may be a ridiculous question but can you sort a playlist in iTunes that will show up other than in the order a song was added or track listing? I've tried reserving a playlist order so the most recent tracks added appear at the beginning of the list but it won't keep that order once synced to the ipod. Basically I'm just trying to keep the most recent songs on top. I'm thinking there's an easy way to do this and I'm just missing it.
    Any advice is appreciated, sorry if this is a very newb question,
    Thank you,
    Jason

    In your smart playlist settings, set a limit for the number of tracks in the list (but make it higher than you'll need if you don't actually want a limit), then pick the order you want the tracks to be in from the "selected by" drop down.
    For some reason this hasn't been working for play count (and so presumably might not work for some other options, if definitely works if you arrange by album), so try turning off live updating on a top 25 type list.

  • How to manually sort playlists in iTunes?

    Okay so I know you can manually sort songs within a playlist on iTunes but I wanted to know if you could manually sort the order of the playlists. It just defaults to alphabetic order which is annoying because I don't want them in that order...Is it possible to do this? Thanks!

    No you cannot.
    To sort them, you need to rename them.

  • Sort notes iOS 6

    Mountain Lion 10.8.2 allows for sorting of Notes by title, date created, or date edited. Does IOS 6 support sorting?

    I am having a more complicated version of the same issue - my notes are not syncing on either my MBP (Mountain Lion) or on my iPad. What I type into iCloud directly will show up on my iPad. But what I type on my iPad or on my MBP stays there.
    When you say "Delete Account" what account are you talking about? Also, in System Preferences, I have Notes checked under iCloud, but every time I close notes, System Preferences unchecks it.
    A third, very related question. When I set up my iPad with iOS6 last night, it asked me to create a @icloud.com email to sync notes. I did that. On icloud.com, that is called my Apple ID. But I have another Apple ID that I have used for everything else and in fact that's how I logged on to this support. Which Apple ID am I supposed to be using?
    I'll apreciate any help help. So far, ever since Mountain Lion came out, I have had nothing but problems with Notes and with Reminders.

  • Sorting Playlists

    I have a 'my top rated playlist' but all of the songs are sorted by album in no particular order that I can tell - is there a way to sort the playlist by artist? I've tried looking through the owner manual, synching my ipod manually, changing the sorted order on my itunes and it's still showing up the same on my ipod.

  • Sorting playlists in WM

    Simple question I hope. How can you sort your playlists in WMP0? Mine seem stuck in the original order.

    Windows Media Player do not allow sorting in playlist. However, you can right-click on the tracks and select Move Up/Move Down to re-order the tracks.Message Edited by micromouse on 07-02-2005 08:03 PM

  • Sorting playlists on my iPad

    How can I sort my playlists on my iPad, without having to drag each and every song manually in the edit mode?

    Yeah, I'm stumped, too. Now I've found songs that aren't in alphabetical order!
    I.e.:
    Well ...
    BWV ...
    West ...
    LIz, thanks for being the only one to jump in, besides Ibrahim, of course, but I think he fell more than jumped.

  • How do i sort playlists? NOT THE CONTENT (songs)

    Hi guys, Is there a way to sort/order the playlist order NOT the content of the playlist (songs inside the playlist) since its alphabetically sorted by default.
    For example you have 3 playlists named...
    Strawberry
    Apple
    Grapes
    It'll be automatically sorted in the order of Apple -> Grapes -> Strawberry no matter when the playlist was created.

    Add leading digits.
    1: Strawberry
    2: Apple
    3: Grapes
    And use playlist folders to group related playlists.
