Sorting with date added list

****0,
I was wondering if there was a way to sort by Album, but at the same time by Date Added.
Sometimes when I add multiple albums at once into Itunes, they do not load in the correct order and then subsequently modifying the individual files from each album is more difficult to do.
So, anyway to search both Date Added and view the album in order at the same time?
  Windows XP

How about creating a smart playlist using the criteria "Date Added" -- or using the existing "Recently Added" smart playlist -- then sort that smart playlist by Album.

    Library Duplicated
    I just updated to the latest version of iTunes and it duplicated virtually every track in my library. I need a quick way to delete the duplicates. Sorting by "Date Added" will not work, because every track is listed as added on 12/12/2011 even though this happened today 12/19/2011.

    I've written a script called DeDuper which can help remove unwanted duplicates. See this  thread for background.

  • When I drag music from a folder that contains songs by different artists and then sort by date added it shows the songs in alphabetical order by artist?

    When I drag a bunch of songs with different artists from a folder on my computer to the itunes library and sort by Date added it puts them into alphabetical order by artist. I am able to workaround this by using date modified. Why does itunes do this? This started happening in July. Prior to that never had this problem. Been adding my music the same way for almost a decade.

    They are added in the same minute. I do not see the second area next to that if it should be. I'm guessing an update to a newer itunes build is responsible. It's a shame. I am using the sort by date modified. But now whenever I modify a file in Itunes it automatically moves it to the top of the list. I am trying to keep the newest stuff at the top of my itunes.

  • Why is the file browser unable to sort by date added (Safari, Mail, etc)?

    When I use the file browser (e.g. when I browse for a file to attach to an email or browse for a file to upload through a form) and try to sort by date added, it doesn't work.
    I can see the column for "date added" and it displays the correct date. I can sort by other properties and it works. But when I sort by "date added" it lists files that were added a while ago under "today" and the files recently added are under "no date" (even though they all have a correct date). The list doesn't seem to change day-to-day (e.g. files under "today" remain the same).
    Does anyone know what could be wrong? Am I the only one with this issue?

    Performance tip: Keep the Desktop clutter-free (empty, if possible)
    Mac OS X's Desktop is the de facto location for downloaded files, and for many users, in-progress works that will either be organized later or deleted altogether. The desktop can also be gluttonous, however, becoming a catch-all for files that linger indefinitely.
    Unfortunately - aside from the effect of disarray it creates - keeping dozens or hundreds of files on the Desktop can significantly degrade performance. Not necessarily because the system is sluggish with regard to rendering the icons on the desktop and storing them in memory persistently (which may be true in some cases), but more likely because keeping an excessive number of items on the Desktop can cause the windowserver process to generate reams of logfiles, which obviously draws resources away from other system tasks. Each of your icons on your desktop is stored as a window in the window server, not as an alias. The more you have stored, the more strain it puts on the window server. Check your desktop for unnecessary icons and clear them out.
    Keeping as few items as possible on the Desktop can prove a surprisingly effective performance boon. Even creating a single folder on your Desktop and placing all current and future clutter inside, then logging out and back in can provide an immediately noticeable speed boost, particularly for the Finder.
    And it is why Apple invented 'Stacks' for Leopard.

  • How do I sort by date added while maintaining track order?

    Hello,
    I'm trying to do what I think is a simple function in ITunes. I'd like to sort by "date added" and have the tracks line up sequentially by track number. In other words, when in Itunes, I'd like to have (from top of the library to bottom) my most recent album with tracks 1-10, listed, and then the next recent album and so forth. Almost like a most recent album. You can of course sort by date added, and scroll all the way down to the bottom of the page, but then when Ituns plays, you start on the most recent album, it runs through that album, and then is done.
    Any thoughts?

    If you ever find the answer, I'd love to know as well. How odd is it that you can do this. I tried several searches for this in software hacks, and applications that let you alter icon views and the like. Can't believe the limited interest in correcting it either.
    I was looking for a way to display screen shots of various jpeg elements with files names that double as instructions in a tutorial. Icon view allowed me to see pictures in a large enough size to use as instructions with the corresponding file names. All I would have had to do was screen shots assembled into a PDF and I would have been done. Having to retype every instruction along with copy, and pasting into a new document and so forth is more than double the work for any set of pictorial instructions.
    Maybe Garage Band or some other application is the workaround until then. I'll let you know if I ever find a better workaround, or the solution.

  • Itunes (11.2.1)- ALBUM SORT BY DATE ADDED ?

    Hello,
    So before updating to Itunes version 11.2.1 my albums in itunes were visible and were sorted by ''date added''(even though I never chose this option). So the case would be that everytime I added a new song it would appear at the very end of my itunes library under ''Albums''. After updating it however, I have encountered a problem; Now my albums section is sorted in another way (Alphabetical order), So any newly added music will appear somewhere deep within all my other songs and not at the end of my library of albums.
    Please help me resolve this problem since I have invested into music for many years, and can't find my music now.

    I use an older iTunes so I don't know exactly how they have hte new one set up.  Presumably there is still a list view mode.  Use view options to display the date added column then sort by that.

  • Sort by date added actually sorts by album v1.0.10

    When I try to sort by date added, it sorts it by album for some reason. Squash this bug please.

    Hey gapdude101,
    Just saw your response this evening.  I did a fast search again and I found something that's solved my problem of my iTunes playlists not showing up in the same order on my iPhone or iPad Remote app.  I right-clicked on the playlist in iTunes and selected Copy to Play Order, and I saw the play order on the playlist on my iPhone sync in real time to what I had on the screen in iTunes.  That seems to have solved my problem.  Here's a link to the other article on Apple Support on here where I found this...
    "If you like the way iTunes has shuffled the play order of one of your play lists, you can use the "Copy to Play Order" shortcut menu command to make the shuffled play order the permanent play order."   http://support.apple.com/kb/TA27500?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US

  • When I sort by date added in Column View in Finder, how can I make the most recent files appear at the top of the list?(Mavericks)

    In 10.8, when I sorted Finder by date added or date created in column view, the most recent files would appear at the top of the list. Currently, this happens as it should in every single view mode EXCEPT column view (which is pretty much the only view I ever use). Currently, I have a folder with over 2000 files in it that date back to 2011, so now I have to scroll for like ten minutes just te get to files that were most recently added. Who in their right mind would want to sort by last modified with the oldest result listed FIRST? Ridiculous. I can't figure this out. Any help?

    Thanks for the reply leroydouglas! Unfurtunately this doesn't cause the column to be ordered correctly either. After selecting this option, the files seem to be ordered by label, and the most recently added file is somewhere in the middle of the list. I'd like it to be at the top, and have other files/folders descend in retrochronological order by their add date.
    Any other input from the community would be greatly appreciated, even if it's just confirming that this is/is not expected behavior. I'd be super bummed to find out that this IS expected behavior, as it's really counterintuitive and extremely inconvenient.
    Thanks again!

  • Song order on ipod problem ( only sorted as date added)

    Basically what the title states. I just got a new Ipod (30G) and I just finished putting 1000+ songs on it, it was hard work but i finally got it. Yet I found out that my ipod is doing to the same things my other one was doing, Instead of sorting the songs in Alphabetical order by Artist in my playlist, it will only sort it by date added instead.
    I put my songs manually instead of syncing and Im not about to reorganize all my songs on Itunes for this problem.
    Is there anyone who can help me?
    Thanks.
      Windows XP

    I'm not letting this question die out here.
    Any help is appreciated.
    thanks.

  • Problem in sorting with date

    Hi,
    I have a requirement of sorting a column which displays date or a comment. Because of the presence of comment in some of the rows, the data type is not maintained as Date but as String.
    That is cause of problem as the dates are getting sorted as per the String rules.
    Could anyone suggest an approach of sorting strings with date??
    Many Thanks,
    Anagha

    Hello Anagha!
    Try to this code.
    class MyComparator implements Comparator {
         public int compare(Object o1, Object o2) {
         IWDNodeElement element1 = (IWDNodeElement) o1;
         IWDNodeElement element2 = (IWDNodeElement) o2;
         Date date1 = new Date(element1.getAttributeAsText("Your name of Attribute"));
         Date date2 = new Date(element2.getAttributeAsText("Your name of Attribute"));
         return date1.compareTo(date2);
    And just use it for your node, like this
        I"YourNode"Node node = wdContext.node"YourNode"();
        MyComparator myComparator = new MyComparator();
        node.sortElements(myComparator);
    I hope it helps!

  • Help with "Date Added" when Syncing Playlist to iPhone5

    So I recently switched my 4s for the 5 and first had trouble with the backup files.  I was able to figure out my issues there and fix them.  The only left over issues was that the playlist on my iphone as was missing some media in my smart playlist that should update automatically.  I didnt think much of it and figure when I got home I would plug it in and download everything and I should be fine. Got home and updated my ipod first with my new music (it had been a month since updating so wanted it to have everything), then plugged in my iphone, everything updated but I then noticed that some older songs were above my newest songs (not in reverse order like an old bug I dealth with), so I right clicked ont he smart playist and selected "Copy to Play Order" and tried to re-sync.
    No luck, so I looked at the date added column and notice that my older mucic ONLY ON MY IPHONE had today's date instead of the original download date?  I looked at me smart playlist in iTunes and it was correct.  I even tried to remove the "Date Added" column from the iphone playlist menu which put everything in correct order but when i went to re-sync it reverted back and brought the column back up. So I next tried and manually un-synced all my music and than to re-sync again, NOW all my newest music is grayed out on my iphone with the sync icon next to them but wont download at all.
    BTW, all the music I'm having toruble with shows as (10/1/12) as the "date added" date but the last time i downloaded anything was (9/26/12).
    Not sure what to think about all this??

    These are both great help to me, While I would love to continue hearing more tips I do have a question to add which you may know the answer to.
    When using the trim tool   to make a video shorter or longer, because when setting the in and out points i can't make them exact until it's on the timeline, can you shorten or lenghthen it per frame, like when using the alt key to move the video, instead of dragging with the mouse?
    Thanks so much (:

  • How to auto save output with date added to file name, and email the results?

    Hi,
    We found a script to capture disk space usage, that automatically places the results into an Excel file. We would like the script to autosave this file to a specific directroy with the date ran as part of teh file name. We would then like these results to
    be emailed to us if possible. (also if possible to highlight cell in red that is 5% OR less available disk space would be great)
    Here is what we have:
    $erroractionpreference = “SilentlyContinue”
    $a = New-Object -comobject Excel.Application
    $a.visible = $True
    $b = $a.Workbooks.Add()

  • IMporting multiple albums at once: sort on date added AND album or artist

    When importing multiple albums at once, iTunes ads them in the library in an all mixed up order.
    This makes it very annoying to change song info. I have to multi-select songs from the same album (clicking while pressing the control button) and then change stuff.
    1. Why can't iTunes automaticaly keep tracks from the same album together when adding new music from multiple albums?
    2. Why can't we sort by added date AND another column like artist or album?
    any solutions are very welcome
    greetz

    The order iTunes is showing the tracks can be changed. Select the album column heading to get tracks list in album order. Normally within an album the tracks will list in track order when viewing this way.

  • PC's but not Macs can send my "distributed" pdf with data added back to me

    I am using Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro on a iMac with Snow Leopard to create input fields on a pdf document.  I then use FORMS > DISTRIBUTE FORM and e-mail the "...distributed.pdf" document to PC and Mac users.  The PC users can enter data in these form fields and e-mail the updated pdf file back to me.  However, Mac users can enter data, but when they e-mail the updated pdf back to me the data is not on the file that I receive.
    When they have Java turned on, PC users see the following on the distributed pdf file that I e-mail to them: (1) A purple bar at the top of the screen; (2) In that purple bar the following text appears "Please Fill out the following form . . . "; (3) On the right side of the screen (in the purple bar), there are two icons with the following labels: "Highlight Fields" and "Submit Form" and (4) On the right side of the screen (below the purple bar), there are input fields with a blue background.  However, Mac users do not see (1) - (4); however, they can enter data in the form fields and save the pdf file.  But as stated above when they e-mail that file back to me, that data is not on the file that I receive.

    I resolved this problem myself with the aid of my local Mac User's Group.
    The solution was to change the default pdf reader from "Preview" to "Adobe Reader" on the Mac computers that were receiving my "distributed" pdf files.
    Having "Preview" as the default program to open pdf files may not affect other users.   However, all Mac users need to realize that even though they have installed the latest version of Adobe Reader, their Mac is still using "Preview" to view pdf files unless they have changed the default pdf reader from "Preview" to "Adobe Reader".   If you ever need to make that change, follow the simple steps below.
    (1) Download the latest version of Adobe Acrobat Reader
    (1-A) Go to www.adobe.com website
    (1-B) Click on "Get Adobe Reader" icon
    (1-C) Select your version of Mac OS version and download Adobe Reader
    (1-D) Install Adobe Reader
    (2) Make Adobe Reader your default program to open pdf files.
    (2-A) Move the Adobe Reader icon in your "Applications" folder to the "Dock"
    (2-B) Open a pdf file
    (2-C) You should then get the following message: "Adobe Reader is not currently configured to be the default application for pdf files.  Would you like to make pdf files open with Adobe Reader instead of Preview?"
    (2-D) Click "Yes"
    It is very fundamental that Mac user's realize that "Preview" is the default pdf reader.  This information was not available in "Mac OS X Snow Leopard (the missing manual), "Adobe Acrobat 9 - Classroom in a Book", "Adobe Acrobat 9 (Visual Quickstart Guide" or this forum.

  • Validations with date(Adding zero's)

    Hi,
      can anyone tell me regarding this:
    if the date is 5/5/2008 - the output should be 05/05/2008, means 0 should be concatenated in month and date.
    else if date is 5/12/2008 - the output should be 05/12/2008
    means 0 should be concatenated only in front of 5.
    please help.

    Hi,
    I cant get your requirement clearly. Anyway I give you some solution below:
    1. Declare the variable of TYPE SY-DATUM, so that automatically concatenate zero in front.
    OR
    2. You need to declare one variable as STRING and assign the input date to the string and split it at '/' then store date and month in two other variables and check those two variables are less than 10. If so then concatenate '0' in front else leave as it and finally concatenate as per your requirement.
    Regards,
    Raghu
