SOS: 9iAS and Workflow Installation

I want to install 9iAS 1.0.2.2 (with Portal 3.0.9) and i want workflow enabled (i want to use workflow feautures).
If i just install 9iAS 1.0.2.2 (it comes on 3 CDs) will it automatically install Workflow?
I'm using a trial version of 9iAS 1.0.2.2. Any restrictions on using Workflow in the trial version?
If workflow does not come on the 9iAS CDs, can i install a stand-alone workflow server (2.6) on top of my 9iAS 1.0.2.2 (with Portal 3.0.9) Trial version installation?

OWB 10gR2 on DB 11g and Workflow installation

Hi all,
my customer has a data warehouse running on Oracle DB 10gR2 - 2 nodes RAC - on Linux 32 bit (Red Hat enterprise 5);
ETL is developed with OWB 10gR2 and exploits Oracle Workflow (2.6.4).
They are going to upgrade the database to 11.1 (still 2 nodes RAC) on Linux 64 bit (Red Hat enterprise 5),
and they would prefer to avoid OWB upgrade.
On Oracle Support, it seems that OWB 10gR2 is certified on DB 11.1,
so our idea is to install a OWB 10gR2 repository on DB 11.1 and then export/import MDL
from current repository (OWB 10gR2 on DB 10gR2) to the new repository (OWB 10gR2 on DB 11.1).
My first question is related to Workflow:
is it correct to install Workflow on the new DB 11.1 using the software available in the home of OWB 11g software ?
is it guaranteed thet OWB 10gR2 installed on DB 11.1 will have no problems in using such installation of OWF ?
or should we install OWF 2.6.4 on DB 11.1 using the same software that was installed on db 10gR2 ?

Two Environments with one Workflow installation??

Hi all,
I have OWB repository which is created on DEV environment on a box and workflow installed for the same
Later on I have added a seperate database on the same box for QA and have sucessfuly created a repository also.
I have configured the workflow though workflow configuration assistant for QA environment and am able to deploy the mappings and processflow.
But when I switched back to the DEV environment and tried to execute the mappings the following error is thrown
RPE-02018: Oracle Workflow schema OWF_MGR on host XX.XX.XX.COM cannot be accessed using service XX.XX.COM through port 1521. Please check the location details and try again.
ORA-28000: the account is locked workflow
what should i do to switch between environments on the same box....Should I reconfigure the workflow for DEV.
Cant I have workflow for both environments parallelly?
In worst case,if I opt to reconfigure the workflow pointing back to DEV....i am afraid I will be loosing the QA connection?Can u please suggest to overcome this situation

Hi Sridha,
I prefer a setup with two different databases for DEV and QA. Each one has its own repository and workflow installation.
Your approach with different schemas in the same database should work for the mappings, but I do not know if you can have to workflow schemas on the same machine. You may try to add a second workflow user (beside OWF_MGR) using %ORACLE_HOME%\wf\install\install.bat , but I do not know if this will work.

Oracle 9iAS and OWB 9i dependency

Is Oracle 9iAS installation necessary for OWB 9i installation?. I dont want to install Oracle Portal, which is installed as part of 9iAS, and if that restricts OWB Browser then that is fine. Oracle Portal is needed for Oracle Workflow, and Oracle Workflow is key to OWB Browser, at least thats what the OWB Installation Guide says, and on contrary it lists Oracle Workflow as an optional component, but OWB Browser as necessary.
If 9iAS is must for OWB to work then can I just install few components of 9iAS and get going with OWB or I have to install the whole 9iAS suite for OWB?
OS is Windows 2K Advanced Server, Database 9iR2, OWB 9i.

Output post processors and workflow engines doesn't come up after cloning

ours is a RAC+ASM+PCP -enabled
host1 : DB+ Concurrents
host1 : DB+ Concurrents
host3 : WEB+FORMS+OC4J
host4 : WEB+FORMS+OC4J
We are suffering from an “empty entropy pool” within the JDBC driver. Basically, the driver will attempt to gather a random number from the pool, but if the pool is empty the driver will wait (sometimes indefinitely) for values to come in. In most installations, the default configuration has the pool being “filled” by numbers created through a user interface such as mouse movements. On our servers, we are typically in a “headless” configuration so the pool may not be replenished properly. I’m not sure why we are seeing this new issue, but since the random number generator is related to security, maybe a security enhancement from the OS upgrade has made this more sensitive.
Note that QA4 is “mostly” up and running. The concurrent managers are started on both wpsun144 and wpsun154, but the output post processors and workflow engines are still having issues
The ultimate solution is to add some form of “entropy gathering daemon” to keep the pool filled, but we will need the Unix Admin team’s help and some research to find the best solution. Apparently, in Solaris 10, there is a kernel-level “cryptographic framework” for adding/removing entropy sources.
The workaround is to add a java option to the java command line. For Solaris this seems to work: “-Djava.security.egd=file:///dev/urandom”. This is NOT a reasonable solution since this requires modifying multiple delivered scripts/templates. I made the following changes only on wpsun144.
First, for the context file I had to modify the “s_adjreopts” variable to add the above workaround (per doc 1066312.1).
For adgentns this was fixed by modifying the $AU_TOP/perl/ADX/util/Java.pm file and adding the option. Here are the new lines in the file:

At this point, adcfgclone did finally complete successfully! Also adautocfg is now completing successfully!

9IAS and Java 1.4.2_06

Hi all,
I have installed 9IAS and Java 1.4.2 on Solaris 8, as per Oracle's own documentation I have changed the JDK to point to my Java installation in /usr/j2se in order for out Java based application to work, however the EM process will now not start it time's out and aborts. This means I am unable to access the website I just recive an Internal Server error.
Any ideas on how to get Oracle to use the new Java?

I had this same issue when upgrading from 9.0.4 to 10.1.2.2. Someone else in the forum had a solution. You could probably search for it. However, here are the details:
The fillowing are the notes from Oracle:
Applies to:
Oracle Discoverer - Version: 10.1.2.2 to 10.1.2.3 This problem can occur on any platform.
Symptoms
The user interaction performance using Discoverer Plus 10g (10.1.2) when configured with Sun java plug-in (JRE/JVM) 1.6.0_03 or higher.
Every action in Discoverer takes longer. For example:
displaying the Create/Open Workbook wizard
displaying the Help > About window.
The problem does not exist with JInitiator or with Sun plugin 1.4 or 1.5 and earlier versions of 1.6
JRE 1.6.0 - works correctly, runs with 1.5.0-like speed JRE 1.6.0_01 - works correctly JRE 1.6.0_02 - works correctly JRE 1.6.0_03 - here the problem is observed for the first time. The issue is then observed in all subsequent versions (e.g., _04, _05, _06, _07 and the new_10)
The problem does not exist when an entry for the Discoverer server exists in the local hosts file on the client PC (C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts).
Cause
Sun's Java plug-in performs reverse DNS lookups when connecting to the Application Server. This can be observed with a network sniffer trace (Wire Shark).
There is a change in the DNS handling in Sun plug-in 1.6.0_03 and higher.
This issue may be more prevalent if you are accessing Discoverer Plus via a firewall, proxy server
Solution
To implement the solution, please execute the following steps:
Ensure the external facing IP address of the Discoverer server has a reverse DNS entry in the DNS server.
For example:
nslookup <IP address> must resolve to the <machinename.domainname>
and
nslookup <machinename.domainname> must resolve to <IP address>
An alternative or temporary solution would be to add an entry to the local PC host file as described above.

Hi all, i have to install workflow on a new server farm, i have 1 box with 9IAS rel 2 and 1 box on which i've installed the Infrastructure for the 9IAS and another instance (9.2.0.2) for normal data.
I'm installing workflow on the 9IAS home but what about workflow repository?
Have to install it on infrastructure instance or data instance?
Can anyone help me?

It is not possible to install BusinessObjects Enterprise XI Release 2 alongside of Crystal Enterprise 10. You will have to upgrade the servers in place. Although speaking through my experience this process is fairly seemless and hardly ever has issue. If you are looking to do side by side installs and saving costs for your customer base I would recommend looking at using a virtualization product like VMware Server or Workstation as a temporary bridge to get both products installed side by side. Also one other thing you mentioned you are a progress shop, but you should know that the CMS repository database that runs the application can not be hosted on progress. MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, UDB DB2 and Sybase your only options for the CMS. For reporting you can use a wider range of products.

I think you are confusing the concept of "Oracle9ias Instance" with that of a database instance. They are two different things with no relation to each other. For Oracle9ias an instance is just an installation identifier (with no dependence on any database instance). All that matters is that you provide unique instance names for each installation. Just give it any logical name (such as "infra" for the infrastructure install and "bi" for the business intelligence installation and so on and so forth).

I installed oracle 9ias. and then i hosted my form,report into that server . All was working properly.
at this time my database was into another machine.
then i installed oracle 9i database into the same machine
(as the oracle 9ias was installed)
at the instalation of oracle 9i database one error comes

fail.
but After installation of database it work properly.
there is no problem.
but when I try to run from through web(by using oracle 9ias)
it gives Internal error(500).
i check and find that my appache server for 9ias is working properly and in services of windows 2000 no error comes.
HOW CAN I INSTALL BOTH (ORACLE 9IAS AND ORACLE DATABASE )INTO SAME MACHINE.

I'm about to try and install 9iAS and 8.1.7 on a machine running Red Hat 7.0.
Two questions:
1. Is it possible for them to reside on the same machine without conflict?
2. Any "tips" for a smooth installation?

It's true, I have been able to run iAS 1.0.2, but I won't be able to run 8i 8.1.7 under RedHat 7.0 until Oracle solves a tricky problem. Oracle server 8.1.7 has been compiled with an older glibc library. RedHat 7.0 comes with glibc 2.1.9. Up till now, the only way to get 8.1.7 Server running under RedHat 7.0 is to install it under RedHat 6.X and then upgrade RedHat to 7.0. But, if you ever need to relink Oracle 8.1.7, you'll have to fool the gcc enviroment to make the server think it has an older glibc. All in all it's to messy to work with. Probably the best solution is to keep a machine running redHat 6.2 wiht Oracle 8.1.7 and install iAS 1.0.2 as the frontend machine. After all, frontend machines are those that interact with the user and those that benefit most from an up-to-date operating system. Metalink Alert states that Oracle is trying to solve the issue, but I think the only easy solution is comming up with a new full release of 8.1.7 server.

Unable to check-in, check-out and workflow videos in an Asset Library

Hi All,
This may seem like a silly question but I have yet to find anything official about why you cannot check in/out video files in an Asset Library or workflow them. We have an approval workflow in our publishing environment which works great and I'm able to
check in/out and workflow images and even documents in an Asset Library but not Videos. We want videos to go through an approval process as well and I'm not talking about simple Content Approval, we want it to go through an approval workflow but check in/out
is grayed out/disabled and of course we can't workflow the videos.
I take it there must be some reason for this but I haven't been able to find an explanation. Any info you can provide me was to why this functionality is disabled would be appreciated.

Hi Lisa, it appears to me that Video content type do not have checkIn/Out feature as it derived from folder CT. You can use document library to upload video using document content type and then checkIn/CheckOut. Hope this helps.

3) Compile by clicking compilein Forms Developer and then save it.
4) Upload the Saved Forms(.fmb's) into the new R12 server(system) in the respective custom paths(paths similar to 11i Server)
5) Compile all the forms using the command like below(example command is shown below or f60 gen commands or frmcmp.sh utility) in the respective custom form paths,
this will generate the .fmx's.

So,i am not clear on this.You can still use RDF files in R12, and just follow the approach you mentioned above, and you do not have to migrate them to XML publisher (though it is recommended, but this can be done after the upgrade as an enhancement task).
For custom workflow, you need also to do the same thing, open them using workflow builder and make sure they work in R12 (correct the code if required and save them again in R12 once they work properly).

I have installed the agent 10 or 15 times and one installation has failed, no error appeared during the installation but I am having inconsistent issues with my ethernet card not working here and there. We rebooted and can log into Novell client but the login prompt did not appear for ESM client or the icon was not in the systray. Everything seems to work, besides at times (a couple times today) it terminates his ethernet card/connection. I would re-image his computer but he has several applications and it would take several hours, so I am hoping someone has an idea to fix this issue. So I was trying to figure out why he did not get the prompt to login and why it's not in the systray and it appears to not have completed the install? I checked the add/remove programs, its not listed within their, I also checked the registry and found nothing for endpoint within their, but the files are within c:\program files\novell\zenworks endpoint security.
I have also tried uninstalling it but that fails due to it "not being installed", and it will not reinstall over itself either.
I did notice that stuninstdrv.exe is running in task manager. Any help would be great...

If you are searching the registry, check for the "Senforce" string. It should be at HKLM\Software\Senforce
Try running the install program for the ZSC with the following command line:
setup.exe /V"STUNINSTALL=1"
If you've specified an uninstall password, try this one instead:
setup.exe /V"STUNINSTALL=1 STUIP=password"" (please note the double quote at the end)
