SOS-suddenly NO Sound- (MSI) hp ms-7225 v2.1 realtek audio

hello
my rig of 3 years now has no sound.
banging my heads against walll, i've tried everythng, appreciate some help to think of what might be muted since all software & hareware& drivers check out fine.
using realtek audio on an ms-7225 v2.1 n1996
can hear my voice through speakers when talking on mic only. no other audio.

This bug was causing some very strange behaviour on my machine (HP ZBook 14, kernel: 4.0.4-2-ARCH). Steam would not load (hang), lspci would hang, the computer would not properly reboot, and 1/5 times it would boot up with a snd_hda_intel error.
Creating the file /etc/modprobe.d/my-alsa.conf and adding the line:
options snd-hda-intel enable=0,1,0
fixed the issue.
I'm not sure if this breaks sound over the display port. If I ever test that I'll post it back here.

Why is it that my iPhone 4 suddenly lost the sound bar in music and YouTube?  I am able to make phone calls and hear everything just fine.  but otherwise my iPhone is silent.  It says that it is playing music, but no sound is emmitted, nor am I able to change this.

Not knowing what steps were included in "all the troubleshooting possible with Apple people," I'll suggest you give the phone a chance to reprovision your cellular account.
First turn off Wi-Fi. Then power off your phone. Hold the Sleep/Wake button until you see the power off slider. Then slide to power off. Turn the phone back on. After the phone starts watch to see if No Serive is displayed. Hopefully after 15-30 seconds that will change to the name of your cellular service provider and finally indicate LTE or 4G as well as include some dots indicating signal strength. You can then turn Wi-Fi back on.

  • PC suddenly lost my sound card (Audigy 2zs)

Yesterday, out of the blue, my PC was no longer able to play music. I was playing an album through mediamonkey?and suddenly it stopped. Took me some time to realize that my system no longer identified the sound card. I'm using an Audigy 2ZS and now not even the drivers appear on the system manager.
I tried a lot of things to no avail:
    - Tried to reinstall the drivers: they won?t install because they can't find the hardware.
    - Tried uninstalling everything (drivers, creative software, etc), still coudn't install the drivers.
    - Changed card to a different slot, still system can't find it
    - Tried to install an X-Fi that I also have (I still prefer the audigy) on both slots, no go, same problem, same steps as the above.
    - Tried a system restore, no change.
I am now using my onboard sound but I would very much like to go back to my audigy. Here are my specs:
    - Gigabyte GA-P3-S3G mobo
    - Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 @ 2.53GHz
    - 2 GB Ram
    - Nvidea 8800 gt PCI-E ultra-edition (Gigabyte)
    - Windows XP SP3
    - PCI wireless network card (Blekin Rangebooster, can't remember the model)
As far as I know, nothing on my system has changed. It probably has nothing to do with that or else system restore would work.
In the past I had a similar problem, with a different machine not being able to see the sound card on a fresh XP install. I gave up then, but after a few days, all of the sudden, a message poped-up telling "new hardware detected". Only then was I able to install the complete software and driver pack.
So anyway, any ideas on this one? I would love to get my Audigy online again....

/Re: PC suddenly lost my sound card (Audigy 2zs)& Hi Zehnra, I don't think it's exacly the same problem. My PC sees no card at all and even reeboting with a diferent one on a diferent slot won't do the trick. I also don't think it has anything to do with any windows update or else system restore would take care of that (I restored it to 24h of the failling point).
I noticed one thing thouh, I still have some leftovers from creative stuff, so maybe that's what blocking basic xp drivers. But hunting everything down by hand is a b****, specialy going through the registries...
On your case, someone told me on some other forum that there is some kind of bug with newer drivers and SP3. If I were you I would try to unistall everything first, also the x-fi drivers. There is a diferent instalation menu within the installation package, directly on the xp drivers folder. After that try rebooting and if your PC sees the card, try installing trhough the original CD... Sorry if you already tried that but I ran out of ideas. Moved to my onboard card now.... ?

  • HT201401 Hi my 4s has all of a sudden stopped playing sound.

Hi my 4s has all of a sudden stopped playing sound. I have a ringtone but no sound for music/movies etc. tried turning on and of and letting bat go flat then recharging. Sound came back for a while then went again. I noticed this started soon after I upgraded to 5.1.1 . Ive also looked at the error reports the phone generates for apple and there are a few memory low notes.  Any help would be appreciated.

We have a WHOLE discussion about the issue over here:
Re: IOS 5.1.1. update bug (Volume Control)
So far Apple is not doing anything to fix the bug with 5.1.1 It's really annoying!

  • The ipad2 suddenly have no sound, and I have upgrade to 4.3.3. Still nothing

The ipad2 suddenly have no sound, and I have upgrade to 4.3.3. Still nothing

Obvious question, but do you have the 'system sound mute' switch set to on?
Do you get any sounds when you play music?

  • My iPad 3 iOS 8.3 suddenly stopped playing sound on its speakers while on Spotify. Volume max. Side switch not on mute. Tried rebooting thrice. Sounds won't work on other apps. Works with earpods.

My iPad 3 iOS 8.3 suddenly stopped playing sound on its speakers while I was listening on Spotify. Volume was maxxed out. Side switch not on mute. Tried rebooting thrice. Sounds won't work on other apps (Soundcloud, NPR, Clash of Clans). There are sounds when I attached my earpods. I tried the switch to mono solution on the other threads, didn't help either.
My iPad is generally muted because of classes, but when I un-mute it it works fine. It just stopped after one song, and now I can't get it to work. Any thoughts? Thanks.

    Hi!
I've the same issue after updating to iOS 8.3. on iPad 3.
sound is working properly only with headphones attached.
when I tap on AirPlay button it says "Docking connector" while it should "iPad"
when i play with sound settings and try to change e.g. some alert sounds, sound is played and volume slider in control center magically appears.
any other app can't play sound.
is there any fix for that?
    Thanks

  • TS3274 my ipad 2 suddenly lost the sound.  all else works.

my ipad 2 suddenly lost the sound.  all else works.

Try this  - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
Check your settings. The iPads have a small switch on the right edge. It can be used as a rotation lock to keep the screen from automatically reorienting itself as you move around, but you need to have the tablet’s settings configured properly. That same switch, right above the volume buttons, can also be set to function instead as a mute button to silence certain types of audio.
If the switch is set to work as a mute button, you can change its purpose to “screen-rotation lock” by tapping the Settings icon on the home screen. On the Settings screen, tap General on the left side, and on the right side of the screen flick down to “Use Side Switch to.” Tap to select Lock Rotation or Mute to set the button’s function. Even if you set the side switch for your preferred use, you can still mute the Mini or lock the screen. Just double-click the Home button, and when the panel of apps appears along the bottom edge of the screen, flick the row from left to right with your finger. Tap the icon on the far left side of the row to either lock the iPad’s screen or mute the iPad’s alerts, notifications and sound effects. Music, podcasts and video are not muted unless you turn the volume all the way down.

To solve some sound problems, just follow these simple steps
    1. Go to Settings
    2. Tap on General
    3. Tap on Reset
    4. Tap on Reset All Settings

  • My iPad has suddenly lost all sound

My iPad has suddenly lost all sound.

All sounds are gone? Did you check the music or videos app for sound? If they have sound, system sounds are muted.
If you lose sounds for keyboard clicks, games or other apps, email notifications and other notifications, system sounds may have been muted.
System sounds can be muted and controlled two different ways. The screen lock rotation can be controlled in the same manner as well.
Settings>General>Use Side Switch to: Mute System sounds. If this option is selected, the switch on the side of the iPad above the volume rocker will mute system sounds.
If you choose Lock Screen Rotation, then the switch locks the screen. If the screen is locked, you will see a lock icon in the upper right corner next to the battery indicator gauge.
If you have the side switch set to lock screen rotation then the system sound control is in the task bar. Double tap the home button and in the task bar at the bottom, swipe all the way to the right. The speaker icon is all the way to the left. Tap on it and system sounds will return.
If you have the side switch set to mute system sounds, then the screen lock rotation can be accessed via the task bar in the same manner as described above.
This support article from Apple explains how the side switch works.

  • 15" MBP emitting sudden, constant whirring sound along with other troubling issues. Advice?

Monday morning. Start up my computer. Fancy greeting in the form of a sudden, constant whirring sound coming from the rear of the computer, neither side is favored. It sounds like the fan(s) are running super fast. Attending this sound are these smaller dysfunctions: the screen will go near-black when idle, instead of grayed down; when in sleep mode, the intermittant sleep light does not come on; the power cord (there is no battery in this laptop since it split apart long ago), which typically glows bright green, is now just a whisper, barely glowing at all; and the whirring begins IMMEDIATELY when I touch the on button and doesn't subside for several seconds after I close the laptop for sleep.
    What. On. Earth?
The computer has never behaved this way except during brief periods of extreme high temperatures, but even then, the smaller issues were never present. I've looked on forums and see various possible explanations, but nothing that covers this combination of sudden problems. I have bought an additional external harddrive, which will arrive by Friday (my other one is full), so I'll back up everything in a flash. In the meantime, is it safe for me to be using the whirring beast? Do any of you mac-heads have experience with this?
Thanks in advance for any information you can share!

Thanks for the answer. I've been backing up my data all along. The Apple Care phone support people have been insisting that it must be a software problem because of the extended hardware test showing no errors. When I took my machine to the Apple Care store, they only wiped the hard drive, reinstalled the OS, and replaced the chassis that had been damaged in an earlier Apple Store service visit.
I forgot to mention that I've also replaced one of the RAM cards (which failed the EHT in October, when the logic board also failed), so I'm now on my third problem. I've done a bit more examination of the machine, and I'm fairly sure I've got a Rev A iMac. The serial number falls within the range of the ones that had problems, though mine aren't the ones described on the info page.
I've been trying the Apple Care suggested solution of creating a new user (the last Apple Care person I spoke to insisted that the problem was created by some bad preferences). I haven't yet had another experience of the "tongky" noise followed by the response slowing to a crawl, but I do hear an ominous single click several times a day. Response times continue to be sluggish (again, I have a GB of memory), and the machine continues to go to sleep after about 5-10 minutes of being idle (I'm currently set for one hour), with the screen saver never coming on.
I guess my bottom line question is what exactly do I say to Apple Care to convince them that I've got a hardware problem and get them to replace the hard drive?

  • MSI Z77A-G43 Realtek Audio Manager

    Hello,
I just bought a MSI Z77-G43 motherboard and I did a clean installation of Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and when it started up the audio was already working which is normal. Then I installed the basic drivers (chipset, lan, audio).(Ok just so you know the situation)
Now the volume changes on the new Realtek software are working, but the EQ presets, Graphic EQ, Environment settings, Voice Cancellation and Karaoke settings are not working. So basically the whole "Sound Effects" tab is not doing anything to the sound when being adjusted.
What could the problem be here ? (And how do I add a picture to this message, I have a screen shot)

Yes it's a shame that one cannot just use Realtek audio drivers but have to use the audio program too. I have tried to extract and install only the drivers but it always wants the software as well. And I haven't find those driver only from nowhere without the software studio.
That's why I'm using MS drivers, luckily, those work perfect with my 5.1 set up.
If anyone knows where to get just the audio driver without the software please post link here.

  • P6N SLI unable to produce sound/test integrated Realtek audio

Is there any way to verify if the Realtek audio devices on my MB are or are not working, say a utility?  It appears the Audio is dead on my MB, and I would like to confirm.  If it is not broken, I need help getting the correct drivers on my system.
Until recently my MSI P6n SLI Platinum MB was able to produce sound from the back connections on the board.  For the last couple of months though I have not been able to produce any sounds from the system including simple system sounds.  I have tried playing simple beep noises (standard window error sound). I have tried all of the rear output jacks, and have verified the issue is not my speakers (confirmed speakers produce sound from ipod etc).  Currently The system will not even recognize the Audio devices, leaving me to believe the device itself is bad, or I need help with getting the correct drivers on the system.
I have done the following to attempt to resolve this:
    1. Loaded latest sound drivers for Realtek audio from MSI support site-looking at the drivers listed for the P6N SLI Platinum.
    2. Because of errors I encountered after installing these drivers over the existing, I unistalled Realtek Audio, then reinstalled the audio drivers from scratch.
At the moment, Since the re-install the Audio devices are not recognized.  When I attempt to open the Volume manager, I get the message: "There are no mixer devices available.  To install mixer devices, go to Control Panel, click Printers and other hardware and then click add Hardware."  I attempted do this but of course the Realtek device is already installed.
I also attempted to enable the device by going to computer management>devices> Sound, video, game controlser, right click on realtek>properties.  On the Properties tab, I confirmed "Audio Devices>Realtek HD Audio device" was enabled.  Thanks, any pointers on trouble shooting this will help.

Then reinstall the latest version of Realtek drivers.
One other question: can you confirm the source for the latest version of the Realtek drivers?  I found mine here as My MB is the P6N SLI Platinum (not sure where to find more specific info like a part/model/version number?): http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=driver&maincat_no=1&prod_no=1140 (XP driver)
    Thanks again.

    Michael,
Thanks. I haven't mixed down the audio or checked the number of tracks in Prefs. Good points.
As far as a mixdown goes, I'll definitely give it a try, though I wonder whether or not the tracks will be recognized during mix down recording - given that you can't hear either of those segments in playback. Just have to try.
Re the preferred number of allowed tracks - I'll go check as soon as I send this off, but I'm not sure that applies in this case, since the two Channels containing the segments that are pinked out are not in additional tracks. I should have mentioned that other audio clips and segments on the same Channels in the SAME tracks ARE heard in playback. As are two additional track in the 2nd Sequence. It's only when the two sequences are joined that the pink tinted segments can't be heard. Within the sequence the same audio cuts playback as they should. Thanks again &
    Best regards,
    David

  • I remove by mistake the realtek audio device high definition audio bus. Now, the sound of my computer is not working. What should I do?

    Hi!
I remove by mistake the realtek audio device high definition audio bus. Now, the sound of my computer is not working. What should I do?

first go to start-all programs- windows update is at the top of the list follow the prmpts to install microsoft update which is the new version of windows update if microsoft update is all ready installed go there and select custom then let it look for updates
then if it detects missing drivers it will install or guide you on what to do. If you have an r52 laptop then try this link.
    http://support.lenovo.com/en_CA/downloads/detail.page?LegacyDocID=MIGR-58599 the best of luck.
2 if that doesnt work then try this  open device manager right click on the sound device you may have to expand sound, video and game controlers on the tab that comes up select properties then select the drivers tab  select update driver.
do it this way incase the driver installation failed the frist time it may not ask you to update again if you didnt uncheck the box that came up on frist try.
3.find a mother board disk and search the disk using explore for ac97 realtech driver. actually windows update should solve it also try there  FIX IT web site there are many automatied fixes there for your use.

  • Dolby audio and Realtek audio drivers suddenly won't work on windows 8.

    I've got an Ideapad U510, Windows 8 64-bit system.
A couple of days ago I got a message, which stated that the dolby audio driver didn't work, and I needed to reinstall the driver or restart. I did both and neither worked.
I searched for drivers on Lenovos website, and updated the driver for Realtek audio. Now the logo for sound just have a red X on it and I don't know what to do. I uninstalled the drivers, installed them again and it didn't work so I uninstalled it again.
The dolby digital driver won't install again, it says it needs PCEE to install but I have no idea what to do.
Please help me. I don't know what caused the problem, so I have no idea how to get my audio working again.

    hi Bubble,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.
    Can you try the following:
    1. Press the Windows key‌ +R, type appwiz.cpl and press Enter. On the list of programs, remove any instances of Dolby or Realtek Audio and reboot.
    2. After the reboot, press the Windows key‌ +R, type devmgmt.msc and press Enter. On the Device Manager, expand Sound, video, and game controllers and check if the sound device is listed as High Definition Audio. If it says Realtek High Definition Audio, uninstall it, put a check on 'delete device driver software' and reboot. This step will install a generic sound driver that should enable you to play sound on the unit.
If the above steps doesn't work and you still see the red X mark on the sound adapter then you may need to backup important data and do one of the following:
    a. System Restore
    b. System Recovery via the OneKey Recovery Button
    c. Refresh or Reset Windows 8
