Sounblaster live driver prob
Hi,
I installed my soundblaster li've on windows xp, but it doesn't work properly:
Actually it works when it wants...
this morning i was listening music, the sound was perfect for 0 minutes but after i could hear unpleasant scratch sounds periodically...
i went in the device manager, their was an error on the audio controller: "the device couldn't start..."
I checked before listening my music, everything was ok ..
so i re-installed the drivers (Sound Blaster Li've! - Li'veDrvUni-Pack English)
It worked fine, but again after a few minutes the same scratch sounds occured....with the same error in device manager...
Does anyone has a solution ?
Thank you
Thibaut

Audigy 2 ZS plat live drive prob
Hey everyone, I've had this problem for several months now (since I first got this card and li'vedri've, actually). The deal is that when I plug my headphones + mic into the li'vedri've in front and set the Creative Surround Mixer settings to Line 2/Mic 2, it works fine for awhile. Everyone can hear me in Ventrilo, Teamspeak, on CS, or whatever... but after awhile the settings get changed in the Creative program. I'll have to alt-tab out and see that instead of it being set on Line 2/Mic 2, its changed to the Microphone input...Has anyone experienced this problem? I gave up on it with my old headphones, cause the mic went out. Now I have some Sennheiser PC-50s and I want to be able to talk in my games again! Please help me figure out what could be causing the software to change inputs on me! You would think there would be an option to "save" your settings, but I don't see one, so I'm looking for some advice on here! Thanks in advance!-Nick-<!-- / message -->
Well, I just searched the forums here and found that this is a common problem in Counter-Strike, not the Creative software. I will try the solutions the other users have tried, and hope it works. If anyone still has a helpful comment, please post!

What is the difference between Icloud and Live Drive?
I had purchased for me seperate storage space where by i could download music/pictures to my cyper drive and my Ipad would pick it up. Is this Icloud or Live Drive?
That is livedrive. You cannot use icloud to keep your files online unless the files are generated using iworks. But, icloud is free from apple, 5 gb worth of space. Currently usage is pretty limited, cannot compare wth livedrive, dropbox or sugarsync.

I want to centralize my Itunes Media library to a Mybook Live drive.
I have bought a My Book Live drive as it said I coudl run an iTunes Server. I want to be able to have one central Itunes Media location for all my music and apps etc. So I have moved this to the My Book live. When I open Itunes I see all my music under the LIBRARY and under SHARED/MyBookLive. I don't see my apps or other items? Also if I add a new album to my music library it shows up in both on the PC I add the music from but not on any of the other PC I have in my house. So I want to have a simple solution with all mymusic and apps etc in a single place that looks the same on each of my PC's?
Any ideasThanks for the quick reply!
No, I simply went to Itunes, Library, Music. As you mention, I can't click and drag the folder, so I click and drag a section of songs at a time, but then they are all resorted to "by artist" instead of "by title".
All I am trying to do is create space on my internal hard drive by transferring ITunes to an external hard drive (so Time Machine is not an option). Any suggestions, or is what I am trying to do not possible? -
Sounblaster live usb driver prob
Hello everyone. Have encountered a problem with the 'standalone' driver update for my usb soundblaster li've. I installed the driver - without anything else, just as is - but there isn't an option to activate 5. sound anywhere - done the usual things - control panel etc. Worse I couldn't and still can't find an uninstall option. Nowhere. I've looked, control panel, everywhere. So ... I foolishly installed the stuff off the cd - which worked, I got 5. sound, but then I was getting some horrible noises with cubase so I decided to try uninstalling everything but just can't. I removed eveything I could, but couldn't find how to get rid of the standalone update. I just want to install the drivers cleanly - and thereby hopefully get cubase to work without the noise that I get with the creative drivers - it works with windows drivers, but I get really bad latency problems.
I wonder if anyone could advise me on how to fully uninstall all the creative stuff, and then if I ought to install stuff off the CD first and THEN the update?
Oh I'm running XP Pro, via chipset, nvidia graphics.
Thanks for any help offered.
P?The speakers no longer work at all with the headset unplugged. The Li've card is still set as the default (I've tried with the 'use only default devices' checked and unchecked, neither work). I've verified the checkboxes and sliders in the Volume control settings. All the basics (I think) have been covered, and there is still no sound coming from the speakers.

tubakumbara,
Have you tried a cleansweep? (You might also want to try removing the card after uninstalling and booting without it before reinstalling.) -
Windows x64 and recently released Sounblaster Live! 64 bit driv
I downloaded the new SB Li've! drivers (Creative Sound Blaster Li've! x64 Driver (2.23MB) released 2 Augh 05) - uninstalled all Creative programs and all Audio drivers on my system, and proceeded to install the drivers as instructed. I reboot my system and I get sound...but only in my front left, front right, and subwoofer. I go to my sound and audio settings, switch my advanced settings to 7. home theatre, and still only the 2 front speakers and the sub are working. Why would Creative release a driver that doesn't work? Any help? ] or AIM = t0ide
I've been trying to make this thing work since I've been using Windows x64...about 5 months now. Any help is highly appreciated.
MikeLet me guess, CMSS is disabled?

Hi I am having trouble after building a new system running windows XP Pro with SP2. AMD Athlon(tm) 64bt processor 3200+ 2GHz fsb, 2GB of RAM & an Asus A8V motherboard with 550watt PSU. My previous machine was also XP Pro but not so fast I had soundblaster li've platinum with Li've Dri've with optical in & out, aux inline in mike in spdif in & out & midi in & out I could not get the sound card to work so I installed a audigy 2Zs whick I had in another machine the sound card works but I cannot get the li've dri've to work can anyone help do I need different drivers or do I have to install some of the drivers off of my old disc. Hope someone can help Sparky506
If I understand your post correctly, you upgraded the card but want to use the old dri've, is that right?
The Li'veDri've II is not compatible with the Audigy 2 ZS card, so this will not work.

MBP internal drive failure causes external drive probs. Weird...
I've been booting off an external drive for some months now. I figured it would save wear on the internal drive, and when my boot drive eventually failed (the external one) it would be quicker and a lot cheaper to swap that out with another external one than to have to change the internal drive. I use FW800 and not seen any performance hit.
Yesterday (with the whole system booted from the external drive) it started going really buggy, everything was painfully slow - like, virtually at a standstill, and with a very slow wi-fi internet connection.
I tried rebooting. It would only boot from the external drive, and only if I held down the option key and selected a boot from the options that appear. Otherwise just the apple symbol and an endless twirly. It wouldn't boot from the internal drive +at all.+
Eventually I booted from the SL disk and ran disk utilities. To my surprise the internal drive was corrupted in some way and couldn't be repaired. I wiped the drive and restored it using Time Machine (stored on yet another drive). Everything then worked fine, except for the slow wi-fi.
So, +why should a corrupted internal drive stop the MBP booting from an external drive?+ This is worrying for me if the machine ever goes down at work and I have to rely on booting from another drive, which then might not boot properly and is buggy.
To complicate matters (or does it offer a clue?) this morning I booted from the usual external drive. It worked ok, but wi-fi was still slow. Another Mac here was showing the same internet slowness, so I figured it was maybe the ISP.
Then the MBP itself started going slow n buggy again. A check on the internal drive showed no return of yesterday's probs. On a hunch I unplugged the router from the mains and plugged it in again. The wi-fi then worked properly as did everything else.
+Why would a buggy router affect my MBP? Could it have corrupted the internal drive?? Why should any of that affect the machine's ability to boot from an external drive..?+
Thoughts anyone?clicked 'solved' but the credit went to the wrong place!
it's solved, thanks to clinton:
Re: Re: clone no longer sees MBP internal drive -
So i recently installed the sounblaster Z 1500, Now when i play a game it crashes, so i ran DXdiag and i get errors under sound
The file cthda.sys is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer.
The file cthda.sys is not digitally signed, which means that it has not been tested by Microsoft's Windows Hardware Quality Labs (WHQL). You may be able to get a WHQL logo'd driver from the hardware manufacturer.
I removed the SB drivers and the error message goes away. Re install and they are back. I have played this game for over 6 months with no problems and nothing is new or changed except a new mouse.
On Windows 8.1 64 Bit, i have checked the drivers and downloaded new copies.
Any ideas would be appretiated.

Driver probs or duff FX5200 ???
Hi got some more problems with this card so much that I’ve had to take it out of the PC and put a Nvidia Geforce2 MX400 which is working with no probs.
Back to the problem the PC seems to be below is a message I’ve sent to MSI tech help.
I have a MSI FX5200-VTD128 video card installed in the MSI KT6 Delta-FISR motherboard, running at 2800+ Processor. I have installed all the latest drivers and also tried some earlier drivers for the card but the system is very unstable re-booting or hanging from the error reports I seem to of traced the errors back to the Graphics card. Below is a copy of one of the error reports I have retrieved from c:\windows\logfile\watchdog.

This leads me to think there is a problem with the card as I get the same report with 3 different drivers “for the card the one that came with the card NVIDIA’s latest driver & the latest driver off the MSI site.
I have also noticed on system boot when the information about the graphics card is displayed there is no information.
RobOK thanks for the reply what would be a good PSU to go with my system setup as I’d like to sort out this problem. I did read somewhere that Q-tech weren’t that good.

I am thinking of using my G4 iBook 1.33 to run tracks live. if i freeze tracks and run from external fw drive are there any other issues i should be aware of. I am gonna up the ram to 1gig and set power features for max. are there any super reliable external audio interfaces. I have an m-audio fw410 that i am thinking of using.
G5 dp 2gig + g4 dp 867 2x uad 1gig RME 9632, D8B, Mac OS X (10.4.4)Hi. I use my MBP live for Ivory Grand piano sounds and occasional backing tracks with live piano. I suggest you set it all up and suck and see. You will quickly get an idea of what will and won't work. Set up a scenario where it is doing a fair bit more work than you anticipate it doing live, and then you will be confident of it doing what you want it to do.
Partioning a hard drive just means that the same single hard drive is trying to split it's attention to two places at once, and so will probably give worse performance. It is no real big deal to carry a small firewire drive these days. By the time you have plugged in MIDI interfaces and cable, an extra firewire cable will not make much difference. Samples stream much faster from an external drive. Audio should play back just fine from the internal hard drive.
I am using 10.4.7 and I don't seem to be having any problems so far, touch wood. -
Hi,
Just wondering if anyone else has reported issues with the Firmtek PCI SATA controller during upgrades to Tiger.
I did a basic Tiger install on a clean drive, then migrated my user account & apps, then applied 10.4.3 combo update then installed FCP Suite & used system update to get the remaining updates it recommended. (security fix & FCP suite component updates.) Did this on a G4 1G DP MDD system 300/16 PATA Maxtor boot drive and on a G5 2.5DP 250/8 Hitachi boot drive system and both exhibit the same condition regarding external SATA drives.
Basically, the card still works and the drives show up on the desktop, I just can't right-click and "eject" them for hot-swap. (which I used all the time under 10.3.9 to move video files from system to system.) System profiler can't find the external drives attached to the Firmtek card, but I saw that was a known bug. If I physically power down the external enclosure, or remove (hotswap) one of the drives, I still get the old dialogue box about SATA configuration has changed and everything appears to work properly. This just sounds scary since the drives aren't dismounted (ejected) properly. Also, I have noticed that sometimes only one of the two drives in the enclosure is detected at startup (neither of the drives is the boot drive).
Just looking for answers. I have had no problems whatsoever with the Firmtek stuff up til now.
Paul
Here's the reply Seritek gave me (and I did the firmware update to 5.1.3, but that didn't fix the eject problem).

"System profiler does not show the external drives under ATA or Serial ATA"
This is a known bug from Apple, and we have reported to Apple. A firmware up date won't help. BTW: we have the latest firmware vs. 5.1.3 . You're welcome to update the firmware. Please make sure to read the note before you update the firmware.

Subject: Technical Support Question 1ve4 pci card
Hi,
I have a seritek 1ve4 pci card connected to a 2 bay external enclosure.
Today I upgraded from osx 10.3.9 to 10.4.3.
Now my external sata drives show up on the desktop, but if I right click
on them I am unable to "eject" since that option does not appear to let me
do a hotswap. This always worked under 10.3.9. Do I need a firmware upgrade?
This same behavior happens on my G4 dual 1G MDD system and
also a G5 dual 2.5G system
Here is the system profile for the pci controller card
SeriTek/1VE4 v.5.1.1,03/14/05, 23:42:20:
Name: Seri-Tek1VE4
Type: ata
Bus: PCI
Slot: SLOT-3
Vendor ID: 0x8086
Device ID: 0x3200
Subsystem Vendor ID: 0x8086
Subsystem ID: 0x3200
ROM Revision: 5.1.1.1VE4
Revision ID: 0x0000
System profiler does not show the external drives under ATA or Serial ATA,
yet they show up on the desktop and in finder
Thank you for your help
Paul
G4 DP 1G MDD, 1.75G RAM, G5 2.5G DP 2G RAM Mac OS X (10.4.3) Maxtor 300/16 PATA boot drive, Hitachi 250/8 SATA boot drive
G4 DP 1G MDD, 1.75G RAM, G5 DP 2.5G 2G RAM Mac OS X (10.4.3)I have the same problem with no recognition of the Seritek /1V4 card. After numerous reinstalls, I got it to recognize it with only two drives attached, but it didn't last and now I can't get it back. Very frustrating since the older Seritek 2 port card works fine.
Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. -
XP Service Pack 3 cripples live drive
% Once I upgrade to service pack 3 my li've dri've no longer works.
I have tried reinstalling the creative drivers, but Windows seems to re-install broken drivers.
After upgrading to service pack 3 none of my li've dri've inputs (mic/line2) show up in the windows or creative mixer.
Please help!)Re: XP Service Pack 3 cripples li've dri've? Dear fellow user:
I may be reaching a bit but I would like you to try something that is very simple. Go to your Creative software and verify in each program that your I/O dri've cannot be seen. Then shutdown the machine. UNPLUG THE i/o dri've with power and the ribbon cable. Restart the machine. Verify again that you have or do not have access to any of the features. (I know this sounds silly)? Then shutdown the machine and reconnect everything. This is similar to removing a device and letting windows redetect it. I have a very old (*998*) Creative Li've Dri've (precursor to the I/O dri'ves) that was not recognized in Windows XP nor Vista. Then I shutdown and replugged everything and rebooted and it was there again. This may sound funny I know, but it almost sounds like Windows just has not picked up the Li've Dri've on this pass. It COULD BE? a service pack 3 issue, but again please give my answer a try. If that does not work, reinstall your driver suite once on top of the Service pack 3 system again. Service packs are massi've updates to your system and it takes a bit to get everything refreshed.
Cheers

sombody know wat i can to do ? its so expenci've card and i thinck its card need worck more thor 2 years and if it have problem i can chance to fix it in the cost or bay only same pci card.
If sombody have any idea that i can do?
?p.s sorry about my bad english ))))))))))If you have a 7. setup, then it's better to enable DD EX detection (and DTS ES), so it creates the rear center channel in the rear speakers (same goes for CMSS-3DHeadphone as it creates virtual speakers), but on a 5. setup it should be off.
Dynamic range it's a matter of taste; on 'Full', in order to listen clearly the speech you'll have to crank up the volume, therefore when the "action" begins it will be very loud , it's more theater-like but you may receive complaints from neighbors or even from your family (specially at late hours). On 'Night' mode it tries to minimize the difference between loud sounds and soft sounds.
