Sound alert for Nokia Messaging email

Hi
I am using Nokia X6 and this is about the nokia messaging email. Earlier I used to get a email alert notification (sound) when a new mail used to come. But now it is not coming. Every 5 mins i keep checking if i got a new mail manually.
Tried resetting the phone to factory setting. Still not getting
Even checked the setting at the location:-
menu -> settings ->personal->profiles->general->personalise-> email alert tone (email2.acc). But this setting seems to be for "mail for exchange" (the one in message folder) and not for nokia messaging email.
Any pointers to solve this would this be of help
Thanks
Phani Krishna

You've checked to see if you have notifications muted ? That will mute notification sounds (including games), but the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending upon what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute/unmute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch (if that setting is set to 'notification mute'), or via Control Centre (setting set to 'rotation lock') : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off'). The function that isn't on the side switch is set via Control Centre instead : About the iPad Side Switch - Apple Support

  • Why does my iPhone SOMETIMES not sound alert for new Messages?

Sometimes the iPhone (7.1) will peep with whatever sound is selected and sometimes not. I expect there's some pattern to this, maybe even a setting but I've not been able to dope that out. The two iPhones in my family both behave similarly, so I don't think it's a hardware or software error.
At first, I thought no-peeping happened when Messages was open on the screen, but then I caught it peeping like that. Now I'm puzzled - can anyone clue me in on what rule/algorithm/controls are for this?
    Thanks!

    Go to Settings>Notifications>Messages>Repeat Alerts
Change this to "Never" and it might help. If not, then you may have the same alert sound you use for messages for another app such as Mail, meaning whenever you were to get mail, it would make the sound, yet no notification pops up due to your default settings. This is the most likely possibility.

  • No sound alert for incoming emails

I lost  sound alerts for the incoming email messages into my yahoo mail  inbox since I upgraded to Mountain lion. I even made rule to play sound it but doesn't work!!! I have all the setting on. Apple please fix since this problem arose with Mountain Lion upgradation.
On the other hand any communication done through the apple mail app doesn't save send items automatically. Apple email is poorly desigend and needs to be redesign or eliminated  completely.

Thanks. I just talked to apple rep and we figured out that in system preference>sound effect> output volume, I had mute option checked which happened during upgradation to Mountain lion.  iI unchecked mute and now sound alert works. However the sent items are not being synchronized with web based yahoo email sent items.

  • How do I set individual sound alerts for multiple email accounts?

How do I set individual sound alerts for multiple email accounts?

    Here: http://www.guidingtech.com/15275/get-different-notifications-per-mail-account-io s-6/
Long and short of it, the settings can be individually changed under Notifications. Select Mail and then the account you want to change the sound to.

  • No sound alerts for messages or phone calls since upgrade

I too had no sound alerts for calls or messages since upgrading but then I discovered that the 'Do Not Disturb' option had been somehow switched on after I upgraded. If you have a moon icon at top corner of your screen that's what's happened. You need to go into Settings>DoNotDisturb and switch it off. It worked for me so hope it helps someone else.

Look in the Notifications settings to see if the update turned them off there.  If they are turned on and you are still not getting alers on the lock screen, reset your phone. Hold down Home and Power buttons at the same time, wait for Apple logo to appear and wait for the phone to reboot itself.
See if you get alerts with the phone locked.  If you still don't get alerts, do a Reset Network Settings reset, Settings => General => Reset => Reset Network Settings.  You will have to re-enter your wifi passwords.
If this doesn't help do a Reset All Settings reset.  You won't lose any data or content , but the settings on the phone will all be reset to factory defaults and you will need to go in and turn the things you turned on and off on and off again.

  • E72: Is there a new firmware for Nokia Messaging ?

    Hello,
I have E72 and it has integrated Nokia Messaging. But when I look up Nokia's messaging website, It talks about additional functions like social networking as part of nokia messaging. Are these available for E72 ? I also see the newer Nokia phones,C3,C6 & E5 already have the new version of messaging softwware. Any idea if E72 will get these ?
    Thanks

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Nokia Messaging is rather confusing as there are different components.
There's Nokia Messaging Email which is built into the E72 email client (which is part of the firmware).
Then there's Nokia Messaging for IM (aka 'Chat'), which you should have pre-installed as the 'Chat' app.
Finally there's Nokia Messaging for Social Networks which is another separate app.
If you go to http://messaging.nokia.com/ and select your phone, it will show you the services available in NM. You can't download the Email client as it's built into the firmware. You can download the IM app though to update the one built in (I think it may be available via Control Panel -> Phone -> Software Update on the phone also).
NM for Social Networks isn't currently available for the E72 officially. It was available as a beta but it's been removed, I believe due to quality issues. I had downloaded it and frankly it was fairly rubbish.
Personally, if you want an app for Facebook, you can do better getting the official Facebook app for the E72 (from the Ovi Store) and for Twitter get Gravity. The latter has some beta and alpha versions which also support Facebook (plus as GPS support and other features) which work great. Yes, Gravity costs money, but frankly it's well worth paying for as it's one of the best Twitter clients on any mobile phone.
P.S. NM for Email can only be updated by a firmware update of the email client. There are newer versions of the email client for 5th edition as it's not integrated into the firmware. Unfortunately Nokia decided to integrate it on the E72 and these updates are not available to us. That means crucially we don't get Destinations support in the email client

  • I have a new iPhone 5C, have the sounds alerts set up. But I'm not getting sound alerts for new voicemail, only the red circle on the screen.  How can I make the sound alert work?

I have a new iPhone 5C, have the sounds alerts set up. But I'm not getting sound alerts for new voicemail, only the red circle on the screen.  How can I make the sound alert work?

I have had this same problem for weeks now with my 4S.  I just got a new 5S after being extremely frustrated and the same thing - no sounds.  After searching posts all over, I couldn't find a solution. I just told my friend of the issue and he asked "Do you have the Do Not Distrub on?"  I didn't even know such a function existed.  Upon looking that was exactly the issue.
To resolve, go to Settings> Do Not Disturb> Manual.  If it is green, turn it off.  You will now get phone calls and text alerts.
This functionality is also on your quick access utility menu (slide up menu).  I assume this is how it was enabled on my phone.
I will post on other sites since I searched for weeks for this solution and didn't see it anywhere.  Good luck!

  • Enhanced features for Nokia Messaging

    Hi there,
Does anyone know when Nokia are planning for enhanced features for Nokia Messaging? The two features I have read about in some early reviews that I'm most interested in are Meeting Requests being integrated in to the Calendar, and to a lesser extent, the integration of Instant Messaging to the client.
    Cheers,
    travla
If you found this post helpful, please click on the green "Kudos!" star. Cheers!

I don't understand how Nokia knows whether the connection is coming through GPRS or your home internet through WiFi. Nokia Messaging is free when using WiFi. That means that the carriers are intentionally firewalling connections to the Nokia servers and only unblocking it when you pay.

  • Curve 9360 custom sound alerts for messages will not work. Tried EVERYTHING.

I have a brand spanking new BlackBerry Curve 9360 that just arrived yesterday.  It is great apart from this very frustrating small prob.  I can not customise my message alerts for individual people in my address book.  When I click on "try it" only the LED button flashes and there is no sound or vibration.  I am trying to get the sound and vibrate to play as "active profile" but it just won't.  I can override it and have custom volume and vibrate that plays no matter what the profile but as I sometimes like to set my main profile to vibrate or silent, it won't do.
So far, to fix it, I have tried:
Wiping profile and sounds from the blackberry software
    Full factory reset
Creating my own profile and using that instead of "normal" or any of the other preset ones
Loads of battery pulls before and/or after any changes
I have also had a few different people text me to make sure the problem isn't just the "try it" feature.  It isn't.  The sound that plays is always the default message sound for whatever the default profile is.
If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated
    Deb

I have also experienced exactly the same problem.
The profile is set on normal, with the ringer volume on 10, the ring tone has been selected, and I have also selected the option of the vibrator along with the ring tone.
Now here is the problem, initially it rings and works perfectly, however it seems to automatically turn off the volume so the LED light keeps flashing, however there is not ring tone or vibration.
If you select the "normal" profile or any other profile and change the ring tone or the volume, and click on the try it icon at the bottom, it still only flashes the LED, with no sound.
Have tried everything that you have mentioned in your email, however still unable to rectify the issue. the only way to rectify is it to hard stop the BB, by pulling out the battery and restarting the Blackberry.
Can anyone help or suggest what needs to be done ?

  • When on a call, why is there no sound alert for any incoming mail/message?

When on a call, if I receive a message or an email there is no sound alert at all so I do not know I received a mail or a message unless I take the phone away from my ear and visually check it. Please help.

  • Setting different sound alerts for specific email accounts?

With the new Mail alert settings in IOS 5, it there a way to dedicate a specific New Mail sound alert to individual email accounts?
I use my iPhone for both work and personal email and I'd like know when certain accounts get new mail so I don't have to keep constantly checking all accounts to find out which one was updated.
    Thanks

This has been my bane for years with the iPhone. Unfortunately, despite the innovations of iOS5 and the 4s and despite the promises of the engineers and techs, as well as the hype and rumors, once again this simple and important feature, to my understanding, has been left out.
This is frustrating at best. I have 11 email accounts and run 3 business from my phone. I am on the road constantly, this needs to be fixed immediately. Until it is addressed many people like myself are stuck using the inferior blackberry. I hate the blackberry and long for the iPhone but can't and will not move to the iPhone if it means that important emails are missed or that I'm constantly checking the phone for email. With an email volume of 100+ messages dailyboth personal and business I don't need to spend my life or time checking the phone to figure out what is being sent to what account.
The solutions thus far have been to jailbreak the phone (don't recommend nor will I do this) or to download an app. Unfortunately the apps that will provide this feature, all require that the email be sent to a 3rd party (try and explaining that to corporate)

  • How do I enable sound alert for messages

When I get a message it shows as a sient notification. Is there anyway to enable an Audi me alert

There are a couple of things for which to check here:
    1.  Make sure that you have audio notifications enabled.  Go into Skype and choose "Settings" from the menu.  From there, choose Notifications and make sure that "Notification Sound" is checked.
    2.  If you're still not hearing notifications for chat messages, make sure your phone is not on Vibrate or Priority Mode.  If you've got the Android 5.0 update on your G3, then we will obey the "Priority" notification setting for sounds and not play them on incoming chat messages, but the phone will ring audibly.  When you change the volume using the volume buttons, you can choose "All" instead of "Priority" below the volume slider and notifications should then come with audio.
Let us know if that makes a difference
