Sound and picture on TV but after a few minutes the TV loses signal

I have an 80gb 5.5G connected using the universal dock and apple genuine cables. I get perfect audio and video for a few minutes then the TV seems to lose signal and goes to its default channel.
It might be the TV, its a Sharp HiDef (UK), anyone else had this issue ?

That's just the iPod's backlight timer going off, signaling the iPod's backlight to turn off to conserve battery power.

I have a one year old Macbook Air 13. I have a brand new 22" external monitor. When I connect my external monitor it initially provides a nice display - very accurate and no distortions. But, within a few minutes the screen begins a incessant series

I have a one year old Macbook Air 13. I have a brand new 22" external monitor. In turning the Macbook and monitor on, the monitor displays very well, but within a few minutes it begins this incessant blinking (temporary black out of the screen that lasts anywhere from 1-5 seconds). This has been going on for a long time (it also happended with my older monitor which apparantly I threw out when I should have kept it thinking it was the problem). From reading various blogs in the Apple support community, this appears to be a widespread problem, but I don't find a solution, only a lot of speculation. I'm very surprised the Apple folks haven't figured this out. As a new Apple user, heretofor, I have been very impressed with the support and effort to get fixes out to users. This, however, has me frustrated to the point of junking my Mac and going back to a PC. I love the Macbook Air and most of the functionality, but I cannot function without an external monitor. Anybody have any ideas, please help. Frustrated, Jim

Your dsplay is getting extended onto the external monitor. Chcnage the setting to duplicate it or only display on the external monitor and you should be fine,

I had a similar problem, does the phone show anything on the screen, for example "update failed, connect to computer" if it does, try opening "Sony PC Companion 2.1" click start on "support zone" then click "phone/ tablet software update" a message will pop up, press repair my phone / tablet, select your phone in the list, then follow what it says, try doing this even if the phone shows nothing, you will lose everything, all data will be gone if you follow my steps

Hi, I accidentally spilled water on my Mac Air on the very right side of the keyboard. After a few minutes, the screen turned white and a gray folder with a question mark came up and kept flashing. THEN IT DIED HELP.

After the screen turned white and the folder popped up, it just kept flashing. After a few minutes the screen just turned white completely and I could hear the noise of the drive. It just sat there still with the noise for a good few hours until the battery died and then my mac just shut down completely. I tried to see if the computer could charge, and it does charge. I just can not turn the computer on no matter what. It is dead. It might be the logic board or the drive...I'm hoping it won't cost me a new computer because I just got this 5 months ago....

Do not attempt to charge as that will only make the damage worse. You need to take the MacBook Air to an Apple store genius bar and have the technicians check and see what repair work is necessary. It only takes a very small amount of liquid to cause short circuits and damage.

Hi,i use my phone like i always do and after a few minutes the Touchscreen starts making errors and it quickly gets worse till a point where i cant use it anymore.After shutting down and leaving it for a while, the described case above starts over. And thats the only thing which seems to help. I searched through this forum, but to be honest i didnt read all, there are too many post about Xperia Z1 touchscreen problems.Some speculated what the cause of this problem might be, and they were not even sure wether it is a software or hardware issue!?Software repair with PC Companion didnt help.I reviewed Touchscreen settings, didnt help.

Hi, This in reference to the complaint registered before. I have been facing touch issues on my Sony Xperia Z1 bought in Feb 2015 from Spice Hotspot. I had given it for repair at Sony service center in July 2015, wherein it was delivered to me after 15 days stating that hardware has been replaced and the issue is no longer there. But I am still having touch issues and they are even worse then before after the repair. I am unable to type even for 5 seconds continuously the screen goes crazy and starts typing, selecting on its own. I want my handset replaced or return my money back. Today, two other users reported issues with the back-forward history list dropping down if they hovered the mouse pointer over the back or forward button -- without clicking -- and then moved the pointer downwards. One user was on a touchpad, I don't know about the other user. Are you experiencing anything like that?

Does it boot with the Option/alt key held down & show boot choices?
Could be many things, we should start with this...

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.

3 years ago I bought an IMac Desktop that I am using for a lot of things but the most important for dvd montage in Imovies and Idvd.
Now today when I opened my computer I get as usual the white screen with the Apple symbol but there were all over the screen vertical lines with green pixels and after a while the screen gets grey and I get message to restart my computer using the power button or the restart button and when I do so each time the same is happening somebody can tell me what is happening and what caused this. This computer is my work and now I have no income anymore.
On the Apple support site they are asking to enter the serial number and when I do so I get message it is wrong but it is the only one I have and I buy this computer in Cairo Egypt. I am living in Hurghada in Egypt for the moment. When I call the technical support of the shop where I buy it they are telling me that it is the hard disk or ram and that I probably lost everything on it and they are asking a big amount to repair.

You can find the serial number either in About this Mc in the Menu bar under the , or it should be on a sticker under the foot of the machine.
If you have the install discs, try booting from them, holding down the c key and then using Disk Utility to check the drive.
You can also boot into Safe mode
To start up into Safe Mode (to "Safe Boot"), do this:
   1. Be sure the computer is shut down.
   2. Press the power button.
   3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key.
      Tip: The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before.
   4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple and progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.3.9, you will see "Safe Boot" on the Mac OS X startup screen.
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you will see "Safe Boot" on the login window, which appears even if you normally log in automatically.
Please post back with results,
To leave Safe Mode in any version of Mac OS X, restart the computer normally, without holding any keys during startup.

Why do my mouse and my trackpad not react after a few minutes? I always have to reboot after a few minutes. And I just cleaned the Macbook, so just a fresh Mountain Lion is on the computer.

I had problem with my Macbook (End 2008). It grabbed everything, when I was moving over it with the mouse. And left stuff somewhere else.
So I decided to clean the MacBook and I just put a new system on it, after a new Mountain Lion. Nothing else.
Now the external mouse and the trackpad work after a restart.
But after minutes the trackpad is still moving the mouse over the screen, but I can´t click anything.
Not even with my mouse.
What is wrong?

Try going to Starbucks and connect thru their WiFi and see if you experience same issue. If not, it may be your wireless router not compatible to wireless-N built in the macbook pro. It could be your router cycling on and off its connection without even noticing it. Do you have any other wifi at home that doesn't experience this issue?

My Macbook Air will start and then after a few minutes the HDD fills up with 29Gigs and I have to reboot!

when i run my macbook in safe mode it is perfect fuctionality and shows 29 gigs free space of the 120 total of the flash drive, however, when i start normal it works good for the first few minutes and then i get the startup disk is full error message and then it will momentarily lock up. I turned off the time machine which has been locking up since April 25th, and it will also act "glitchy" while it is working for the time until the storage is full pops up.
I have erased tons of stuff and have almost 30 gigs free, but then it just fills up - is this a virus?? HDD issue?? I have had no problems until recently with one time the computer locked up and it has gotten worse over time - i am open to suggestions - thank you

1. This procedure is a diagnostic test. It changes nothing, for better or worse, and therefore will not, in itself, solve the problem. But with the aid of the test results, the solution may take a few minutes, instead of hours or days.
2. If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data before doing anything else. The backup is necessary on general principle, not because of anything in the test procedure. Backup is always a must, and when you're having any kind of trouble with the computer, you may be at higher than usual risk of losing data, whether you follow these instructions or not.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
3. Below are instructions to run a UNIX shell script, a type of program. All it does is to collect information about the state of the computer. That information goes nowhere unless you choose to share it. However, you should be cautious about running any kind of program (not just a shell script) at the request of a stranger. If you have doubts, search this site for other discussions in which this procedure has been followed without any report of ill effects. If you can't satisfy yourself that the instructions are safe, don't follow them. Ask for other options.

Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
7. Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Click anywhere in the Terminal window and paste by pressing command-V. The text you pasted should vanish immediately. If it doesn't, press the return key.
8. If you see an error message in the Terminal window such as "syntax error," enter
exec bash
and press return. Then paste the script again.
9. If you're logged in as an administrator, you'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. You will not see the usual dots in place of typed characters. Make sure caps lock is off. Type carefully and then press return. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you make three failed attempts to enter the password, the test will run anyway, but it will produce less information. In most cases, the difference is not important. If you don't know the password, or if you prefer not to enter it, press the key combination control-C or just press return three times at the password prompt. Again, the script will still run.
If you're not logged in as an administrator, you won't be prompted for a password. The test will still run. It just won't do anything that requires administrator privileges.
10. The test may take a few minutes to run, depending on how many files you have and the speed of the computer. A computer that's abnormally slow may take longer to run the test. While it's running, there will be nothing in the Terminal window and no indication of progress. Wait for the line
[Process completed]
to appear. If you don't see it within half an hour or so, the test probably won't complete in a reasonable time. In that case, close the Terminal window and report the results. No harm will be done.
11. When the test is complete, quit Terminal. The results will have been copied to the Clipboard automatically. They are not shown in the Terminal window. Please don't copy anything from there. All you have to do is start a reply to this comment and then paste by pressing command-V again.
At the top of the results, there will be a line that begins with "Model Identifier." If you don't see that, but instead see a mass of gibberish, you didn't wait for the "Process completed" message to appear in the Terminal window. Please wait for it and try again.
If any private information, such as your name or email address, appears in the results, anonymize it before posting. Usually that won't be necessary.
12. When you post the results, you might see the message, "You have included content in your post that is not permitted." It means that the forum software has misidentified something in the post as a violation of the rules. If that happens, please post the test results on Pastebin, then post a link here to the page you created.

When watching videos in my library, the sound cuts out and it freezes. After a few minutes, the audio returns but the scenes are choppy. Any help?

I have updated Itunes and quicktime and it still does this. I have taken my laptop to get checked, but it seems to be just iTunes that is messing up.
