Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite with PC Sound card?

Hi all,
I'm new to LabVIEW, so please bear with me.
I would like to take some basic network measurements of a single channel hardware audio device. I have a PCI sound card which I was able to play sound files and receive input with using the sound2 Simultaneous_Sound_IO.vi. I'm wondering if it's possible and how difficult it would be to integrate this VI with the VIs associated with the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite? I've downloaded the trial version of the Measurement Suite and it appears to include all of the measurements I need (frequency response, THD, dynamic range), however they're all designed to work with NI DAQ hardware.
If it is possible, could someone point me in the right direction as far as integrating the two, or even post or direct me towards existing VIs if there are any?
Thanks so much

Which S&V vi's do you mean to be dedicated to NI hardware?
A quick peek into the addon show me waveforms as input and the sound vis have a waveform output.
OK I didn't look at the examples and by habbit ignore the express vis .   But maybe you just want to use a program instead of programming your application?

  • How to measure frequency with PCI-4474 card

    Hi,
    I'm trying to measure frequency with PCI-4474 card.
    Any sample code available?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    Thank you for posting the the NI forums.  There aren’t any example programs that ship with the DSA drivers.  Will you be using this with the Sound and Vibration Toolkit?  If so, there are numerous examples that install with this software package.  Check out the LabVIEW Example Finder >> Toolkits and Modules >> Sound and Vibration Toolkit.
    In addition to this, you could also use the signal processing VIs that ship with LabVIEW.  There are also examples that ship with LabVIEW that use these VI in Example Finder >> Analyzing and Processing Signals FFT and Frequency Analysis.  There is an entire Signal Processing palette that should contain the functionality that you need.
    I hope this helps.  Post back if you have further questions.

  • Delivery of sound and vibration meaurement suite

    Hello All,
    I purchased the SVMS some days ago and received it yesterday. To my surpries, the version of SVMS is ver5.0, not the latest version 6.0. Who can advise kindly why NI deliveried me the old version software? Thanks in advance.

    Can you tell us which NI branch you ordered the software from and your order number, we can make a correction at that point and send to you a version 6.0

  • Encoder data and speed calculation with PXI 4472B card

    Hi,
    I want to collected time, vibration, encoder and speed signal in one file. I am trying to develop NI by using PXI 4472B and LabView 8.6. Everything is okay but getting only one rpm for speed data. I want to collect continuous data for 15 sec (constant speed) and 15 sec (ramp up speed).
    q1. Would you please look into the VI and provide me some suggestions to get continuous speed and all data?
    q2. What is the best way (programming etc.) to collect constant speed (100 rpm) and ramp up speed (50-1000rpm) data in two files automatically from one test? Any help?!
    New Labview user.

    Hi Chris,
    Thank you for your warm response. Here is the status:
    1. I already tried to use 'Analog Tacho processing' sub-pallette. See the attachment, but the RPM value is not the same/similar with the actual known RPM. However, 'Timing trans..' sub-pallette shows similar speed in terms of frequency to actual known RPM. Do frequency and speed profile value in NI should not be the same/very close? Encoder disk is of 60 pulse/rev and using laser TTL to get the pulses, signal input is into 4472B. Does it neet to extra processing to count the edges of rising?
    2. I prefer ASCII or TEXT. Experiment is for one ramp-up (50-1000rpm) and one steady (100 rpm) for 15 sec each. I will use this data in Matlab. I am looking for help in programming so that single experiment will divide into two separate files of ramp-up and steady speed. File will consists of time, vibration, encoder value (0,1...) and speed.
    Kind regards, Niaz

  • I ordered 5 books and a rental movie with a gift card The movie will not download and I have not received my books.  When or how long does this all take.  I am a first time user!

    How long does it take for a movie that I rented in I-Tunes to download?  I ordered one on the second of Sept and I am still waiting.  I have a blinking arrow that tells me to download but it stops in mid stream!  And, I ordered 5 books and still have not received them,

    Wow.......You plug the 30 pin connector to the botton of your iPad and the USB to the USB port on your computer.
    But first, you can download the movie and books to your iTunes account without having your iPad connected.  After you've downloaded the material, then you connect your iPad and sync it all over.
    I'm sorry I have to sign off.  I have to be up like 6 hours.  I'll check in tomorrow and see if you made any progress.
    If nothing else, this will get your iPad and your iTunes account speaking again.  They should be regularly connected and your iPad routinely backed up.
    One more thing.  If it's been a while since you even opened iTunes on your PC, make sure you check for iTunes downloads and update iTunes with the latest version.
    Good Luck........

  • Usage of DAQ USB-6211 with Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite

    Hi,
    Could I use DAQ USB-6211 with Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite ? All examples are based on 24-bit devices (usually with IEPE-on) such as NI 9234 or similar.
    I don't need IEPE, 16 bit is sufficient for my dynamic range, could leave without simultaneous sampling - so 6211 (that I have) is OK for me.
    Actually I'm interested in S&V Toolkit ( or Measurement Suite) as a tool with some specific Signal processing capabilities (for example, short-time FFT etc.)
    Thanks in advance

    Hi sgabr,
    Yes, you can use the 6211 with some of the Sound and Vibration VIs, including most of the FFT functions.  I know that's a little vague -- I don't have a list of which functions do or do not support 16-bit devices, but I did test it out on my system this afternoon.  If there are specific functions or examples you'd like to know about, let me know, and I will try them out.
    You also have the option to download the evaluation version of the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite.  That way, you can test drive it yourself!

  • Labview 8.6 sound and measurement suite not installed properly under Vista 32 or 64 bit

    I apologize if this isn't the correct place for this post but I'm in need of a solution. I recently purchased LabVIEW 8.6 Developer Suite with the Sound and Measurement Suite to create a NVH testing program at my company. I'm a newbe at Labview but I've been a programmer/computer hardware geek since the days of the TRS-80 model1. Here's my problem. I installed the package from the developers suite DVD's on my Windows XP professional desktop and everything is fine. I see the Sound and Vibration Measurement Suite listed under LabVIEW 8.6 in Measurement & Automation Explorer and the toolkit examples work in LabVIEW. When the laptop I purchased to do my actual work arrived with has Vista Business Edition 32 bit version installed I found the following problem. On that machine and two other Vista machines(one 64 bit and one 32 bit) that I tried, the installation doesn't register the Souind and Vibration Suite under LabVIEW 8.6 and they show the Sound and Vibration toolkit as not installed in the examples section. In the Windows control panel under National Instruments, all 4 machines show the Sound and Vibration Suite 6.0 as installed. I've tried to uninstall, reinstall, modify, from the control panel, and reinstall from the DVD's with no change in the outcome. I really need to get the laptop working as this is my actual development and test machine. Installing XP is not an option as the machine is newly purchased with a high end sound system and XP downgrade wasn't available. I'm out of ideas.
    Solved!

    I wanted to let close this as I got it working finally. This time I un-installed the Sound and Vibration entries from the LabVIEW control in Vista's uninstaller. Then re-installed and now it works. Before there were three entries, one for the suite, one for the runtime, and one for the toolkit. After removing all three and re-installing from the DVD, only the suite shows up, and all seems to be good.

  • LabView, Sound and Vibration Suite

    Hi, I currently have NI sound and vibration suite and using this to collect and ananlyze vibration data from the NI modules like 9223. For other signals and data i am using DASYLab software to grab from NI modules. I am thinking to write program using just one software for everything, so I am thinking to purchase LabView.
    I believe LabView has functionalities to let us analyze vibration data (like order spetrum, calculate phase angle, polar plot, etc). My question is if I purchase LabView, my NI Sound and Vibration become kind of not very much needed, i.e. I am kind of waste it? or I can still get quite a bit benefit from having it when I write the LabView program? Any comments?
    Thank you very much for your help.
    regards,
    Yutao

    Hello Yutao1,
    You don't NEED LabVIEW and Sound and Vibration however if you want to get the most out of the Sound and Vibration Measurement suite then LabVIEW is the way to go.
    If you want to export your current Signal Express project to LabVIEW you can do so by following the directions on page 6-4. That manual if for SignalExpress 2013, refer to your version of the manual for version specific examples.

  • Timebase plot flickers using SV measurement suite

    Hello everybody,
    I am using sound and vibration measurement suite v7.0 trial with PCI-6143. I modify the example program for plotting orbit and timebase plot using analog tachomter to run with 6143 insted of DSA h/w. but its timebase plot flickers...why?
    Masood
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Thanks QiaoQuo,
    1- It looks quite logical to me as the data compressed on the right of the plot for a while before the new data ploted, but issue is how can i monitor the plots online as real time data. can you please send me timebase&orbitPlots.vi, already posted ro you, back after emending to work properly.
    also note that even if you stop the program and toggle few mouse clicks between view options of plot on the tree legend, i.e. filtered and unfiltered, you can see the same effect of flickering on the plot data already published.
    2- another issue i couldn't understand what Preston Johnson pointed to earlier that code like timebase&orbitPlots.vi needs continuous data to operate properly as online/ continuous monitoring. In the program task_3ch used is configured to acquire data continously. no difference is noted even i used DAQmx Assistant inside the loop for continuous data streaming. Yes, i got the point that the block of data provided by the AI Read.vi is limited at every iteration and the progam works as it got N samples instead of continuous data and the loop continue because of the config. of continuous data. and even  if you don't specify  the block of samples using  'no of samples per channel' input of AI Read.vi, it will fech all data available in the buffer and yet the result will be a block of data. in this case your data is just delayed to be define as real time. isn't it?
    how can i achive real time data continuously. if there is a way then how the filters in the loop works with- out a suitable set of data.
    kindly send me the code works for online monitoring with config. of 'continous' option.
    best regards

  • OPC input module unknown upon worksheet startup. No sound card installed error.

    Hi all,
    I am on v11.00.00 and have two problems.
    1. Upon startup, I get a 'no sound card installed' error despite having already selected the sound board from the Measurement tab. I've already checked the Windows Device manager and verified that the sound card is working OK.
    2. Upon loading a worksheet, I get a module unknown error - in this case an OPC Input module for a DT9837B sound and vibration measurement box. I've already installed the DAQ OEM drivers.
    Can anyone tell me what's wrong?
    Thanks...

    You may need to edit the sounddrv.ini file to change the device number.
    The default file is this
    [SETUP]
    PlayWelcome=1
    DisplayNoSoundCardMsg=0
    InputDevice=0
    OutputDevice=0
    BitsPerSample=16
    LeftVolume=50000
    RightVolume=50000
    SameVolume=1
    Change InputDevice to =1
    File is in the Public users folder (Documents and Settings\All Users on XP), in the DASYLab\11.0.0\Eng folder.
    OPC and DT have nothing to do with each other. They may be conflicting, however, since both are add-on drivers. If you edit the DASYLab.ini file (same location as the SoundDrv.ini file), put a semicolon character ";" in front of the line that loads the OPCC.DLL.
    If the line is missing (i.e., the DT installation obliterated it), change one of the other lines to be DLLx=Opcc.dll. That will add it back in.
    Ensure that the DT driver is loaded. Both of these are in the [EXTEND] section of the file.

  • Satellite L450 - Can I use Creative X-FI sound card?

    Hi,
    will the Creative sound blaster x-fi xtreme audio notebook soundcard plug into my Toshiba Satellite L450D which has a 4 in 1 media card reader or do I need some kind of adapter?

    Hi pitza,
    Do you mean this sound card?
    If yes you should read the user manual firstly. The 4in1 media card reader is only designed for flash cards like, SD card, SDHC card, etc.
    This Creative sound card requires a ExpressCard slot (34 or 54).
    I have checked the user manual of Satellite L450 and its not equipped with such a card slot
    => You cant use this sound card!
