I recently had to reinstall Windows XP on my computer and wipe out my hard dri've. I lost my original SB Li've install CD so I downloaded a driver from the creativelabs website to reinstall my sound card. Everything works again on my sound card except I no longer have a "What U Hear" option. Is there a way to fix this?

You didn't mention which card you have there but maybe you get the origan CD image from BadBoys collection: http://badboy.filefront.com/

  • Sound blaster live ls driv

does anyone know if creative dropped support for sound blaster li've ls,because they did list it on their driver page, but they don't now?

I am a little dissapointed in the lack of suport also. I am in the military and moving around quite often has me "misplacing" items of which has been my soundblaster li've! value cd. I am currently trying to get my computer back up and running due to massi've amounts of adware and such and low and behold I can't get my sound back due to lack of a driver database on the vendors website. And all I need is the ability to move the sound from digital to analog. (digital wires are another thing that seem to have been eaten by the moving monster). Main point is if a product is sold to the general public then the soft support should be there in the way of documentation and drivers.
I know this is a little off this subject bud moderator, could you please suggest to the IT folks not to include the members password in the verification email. This is a security matter, what if someon accidently added an extra letter or missed out on a letter in the email and the information goes to another email account. I know the individual is suppose to ensure that his/her email is correct but we are humans, and some of us stay up way too late running on will power and caffein, main point is we make mistakes. Well I wouldn't want my mistake going to another individual with my password attached... Don't think anyone else would either. So please make a heavy hint to remove the password in the verification email....

Have you actually tired it yourself?  I'm wondering if this is a workaround, or will this be the official solution.  I wouldn't mind trying it, but I don't want to mess it up for when the Official driver is released.

  • Tutorial: Using Live to drive Logic -- I could use proofreading, testing help

    Hi all,
I've written a little scratchpad blog post to remind myself how I got Live to treat Logic essentially as a rewire slave (donning aspestos suit in preparation for flames).  The process works fine for me now, but I've been looking at this writeup for so long I'm not sure I'm seeing all the mistakes I've made and would love it if a few of you ran through it and let me know about things I've goofed up.
    Here's a link to the post -- http://www.haven2.com/index.php/archives/using-ableton-live-to-drive-logic-pro-x
And here's a little teaser to give you a sense of what's in the post -- the full post has lotsa pictures and narrative and is pretty long to post here.
    Overview
The goal is to use MIDI coming from Live to control instruments in Logic, and get that audio back into Live.  There are some interesting tricky bits, but this is where you're headed and this diagram may be all you need.
    Resources
Here are links to two project files which you are welcome to try out as a template.  They're set up to do 14 channels of audio and MIDI.  Why not 16, you ask?  Because this template includes a B3 organ instrument in Logic, which consumes 3 MIDI channels all by itself.  The configuration steps to set up the environment are still required, but you should then be able to load these up as a starting point.
Zip archive of the Logic and Live templates
(I had to fiddle with file permissions -- let me know if you run into problems opening the files)
Here's a link to the Soundflower audio shim that you need to install to get sound back from Logic into Live
    Soundflower:  http://cycling74.com/products/soundflower/
    Quick Checklist
After a few times through, this checklist may serve as a useful shorthand reminder of the steps that are required.  It's basically a table of contents of the rest of the post.
    Disconnect all external MIDI devices
    Install Soundflower
    Set up the IAC bus
Click the “Device is online” button
    Optional: rename the port
    Open Live first.
    Configure Preferences in Live
Configure Audio Preferences in Live to recognize Soundflower as its audio input
Configure MIDI Preferences in Live to recognize the IAC Driver
Open a new or existing project in Live
Drag External Instruments into empty MIDI tracks
Configure the External Instrument MIDI output(s) to send it to Logic via the IAC driver
Configure the External Instrument’s Audio input to receive audio back from Logic
    Open Logic
    Configure global preferences in Logic
Un-tick “Control surface follows track selection” in Logic Pro > Control Surface > Preferences
Set the global Audio Output device to Soundflower
Open a new or existing Logic project
Set project-level configuration preferences (only required for multitrack work)
Select “Auto demix by channel if multitrack recording
Configure the project to only listen to MIDI from the IAC MIDI input
    Open the Environment window
Select the “Click and ports” layer
Delete the connection between the “sum” and “input notes” objects
Create a connection between the inbound IAC MIDI port and the “input notes” object
Create or select Software Instrument track(s)
Assign MIDI channels to correspond with the MIDI-To settings in Live
    Record-arm the track(s)
    Switch back to Live
    Test the configuration
Reestablish external MIDI controllers in Live
    Oddities:
Assign B3 Organ instruments FIRST, and only to MIDI channels 1,2 and 3
Drummer tracks don’t respond to external MIDI
    Debugging:
All channels sound in Logic if any channel is record-armed in Live
Two channels sound in Logic, the external-keyboard channel and the record-armed one
Instruments sound in Logic even if no Live tracks are record-armed
Instruments stop responding to MIDI as new channel strips are added in Logic
That's it for the teaser.  The rest of the post expands on these topics.
Thanks in advance, and happy new year!

  • Sound Blaster Live 5.1 - SF1 damaged.

    houk
Yesterday I've found on my SBLi've5. that subassembly signed as SF (near MID/Gameport) is corrupted (looks like burned out).. Is this little one correspond with using an eventual midi keyboard od game controller? What kind of component is that? Resistor? Or something else? If this thing is important for communication through MIDI/Gameport, and if yes - could it be repaired by changing invalid component?

  • BA7500G + Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit + Windows 2k = no sound

Similar to the thread for Win XP, I have inherited a BA7500g speaker system, and purchased a new Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit card for my Win2k system. Cannot get the speakers to work, although the speaker test works from the BA control unit. Noticed the digital audio input cable is color coded, and I don't have the original card that matches this scheme. Could this be the problem?

I have installed a new (not used) Soundblaster Audigy SE and BA7500G speakers and I'm running XP Pro. I'm getting no sound even when I change to Digital Out only? Not sure what to do? Is this sound card not compatible with my speakers? Do I need to purchase the Digital I/O Module that Creative is currently not in stock? I can find the Digital I/O module on Ebay if need be but not sure that's the solution. Please help!
    Thanks,
    Kevin

  • What driver to use?

    What driver to use?Hey All,
I have been using the default Creative drivers since I got my X-FI Titanium a couple months ago. Overall I have had a good experience with them but I am finally tired of the random cracking/distortion that I get every once in a while when my computer has been for awhile that forces me to reboot.
So I am wanting to try out some moded drivers. I am a little unsure on which one is the best to go with. So far I have all of these downloaded:
    Daniel_K X-FI Support Pack 2.0
    Daniel_K X-FI Install Disc .0
    Robertmc8 X-FI PAX Audio Suite DVD 200 V2.0
    Robertmc8 X-FI?PAX Driver V3.0
Now I know that the last is just the driver while the other three all suites with all the applications. So I am assuming that the 3. driver is just a updated one to use with this DVD Suite. So what are your guys opinions on these drivers and which is the best to go with? I primarily play games on my computer but I watch a lot of online videos and listen to music from time to time if that hel
    ps.
Please let know me what you guys think. Thanks for your time!

  • Best sound: SB live 5.1 or realtek ALC650?

    Hi all,
    That's my question:
what do you thing has better sound:
    Sound Blaster live 5.1
    Realtek ALC650
I currently using my sound blaster which I think should be better than the realtek, but I wonder what sound I would have with the realtek that is a newer model than my 3 years old SB
    Thanks for the answers,
    Luis

    Luis,
Why don't you just try it? If you hear the difference, then you will know ... If you do not hear the difference, then what is the point in this discussion?
The best sound is the sound YOU like the most!  )

  • Ipod makes weird sounds when the hard drive runs

my ipod video is making weird click clak sound when the hard drive starts running. Is this normal?? HAs this happen to anyone before?

HEY!!!!!! I wasnt alone. Amazing. I had the same experience with my new Black 30 Gig iPod 5 Gen. It had a 3 second delay, made lots of HD clicking noises. And worse after a few hours of usage, forgot 240 of my 270 songs that had been transferred onto it. This was all happening on the first day! Wow.
Im sure glad to hear I was not alone. The sad thing is, Amazon is going to take 4 weeks to return my money to me. I will never again by a hardware product from Amazon.com. It simply takes too long. As far as Apple iPods are concerned, I believe they need alot of design renovation to put it frankly. Here are my complaints about the 5 Gen:
    1. No Screen Brightness Controls. A major no no.
    2. 3 Second Gaps between songs. What?
    3. The trackpad on the iPod is far out of alignment. Not sure who supplied these, but the Mini was far superior to the 5 Gen trackpad. The traction was severly off kilter.
    4. 284$ for an iPod that forgets 240 songs in a blink of an eye? I don't think so Apple. Get a grip. Woz was correct when he stated you all use crapy supplies for your parts.
    I thought he was kidding?!
This was my first and by my choice, last iPod experience to be had with Apple. They are cute, but software/user level wise, they need alot of work.

  • Sbl-soundfonts: soundfont midi lib for sound blaster live

Something I needed for midi tests of my sound blaster live card.
The first soundfont file was suggested as the best general soundfont library available for free (8MB). The second is from my sb live install cd (4MB). I recently answered about the same question:
If you?use Vista or Windows7, then there is no official driver. You can only use alternati've drivers like Vista Support Pack by Daniel_K or the one from KXProject (better). But if you have more than 2 gigs of memory installed or an x64 OS, then both drivers will be half-working (as far as I remember, Daniel's driver won't work with more than 2 Gb of memory installed in any OS, and with KX-driver there will only be a problem with MIDI playback with more than 2 Gb AND x64 Win7).

  • How to produce 5.1 sound with logitech z5500 running on iMac 10.5.8 with sound blaster live 24 bit external.

How to produce 5.1 sound with logitech z5500 running on iMac 10.5.8 with sound blaster live 24 bit external.

First off your operating system version is obsolete and not being updated for security issues from Apple.
OS X 10.4/10.5 need to upgrade, 10.6.8 ok still
So at least you need to upgrade to 10.6.8, and that will make your machine secure again.
However if you decide to upgrade further to 10.7 or 10.8, be forewarned your PPC based software of old is not going to work any longer. and your machine may require more RAM.
Check here to see and download the free MacTracker to see your machines true RAM potential and specs. There are videos online at YouTube, it's really easy to install yourself.
    http://roaringapps.com/apps:table
I checked out the z-5500, apprantly the optical out shouldn't be a problem, however the surround sound decoding is a problem as the Mac doesn't do it, just passes it through for decoding on a receiver via the optical out port if your Mac has one.
Use the free MacTracker to find out or when you upgrade OS X, there is a option in the System Preferences > Sound.
    https://logitech-en-ap.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9693/section/trouble shoot/crid/409/lt_product_id/224/tabs/1,3,2,4,5/cl/sg,en
The Sound Blaster Live 24 bit doesn't do Dolby 5.1 according to Wikipedia. More info on it is here.
    http://support.creative.com/Products/ProductDetails.aspx?catID=1&prodID=10702&pr odName=Live!%2024-bit%20External&CatName=Sound+Blaster
If it's able to accept optical toslink cable from the Mac's toslink stereo mini port (if it has optical output) and then send that to the z-5500 via the analog speakers, then you should be fine.
I'm afraid you'll have to do some more digging to get it to work.
The only surround sound your going to get is by playing DVD movies that have it, then it can't have Dolby 5.1 as the Live 24 bit can't decode it.
So do your research on what surround sound formats the Live 24 can decode, then compare your DVD collection for those movies that have it, then get it all connected and enable it on the movie preferences at the menu.
    Good Luck
