Sound bar, removing icon, time(and date) , viewing contents of NTFS..

Hi! I am new here, as I am new to arch linux. I like the system, but am struggling with some things.
Well here is one screenshot:
http://img850.imageshack.us/img850/4490 … hotdwm.png
1. I cannot remove the icon marked as "1" on screenshot. Right click on it shows me "properties" and "launch". It is former firefox icon but i uninstalled it and got  chrome because firefox worked slow.
2. Date and time (shown on screenshot "2") are wrong, it is 2 hours early.
3. I use pulse audio sound driver. How can i get sound icon on top right bar (somewhere near bugged icon marked with "2")?
4. Am i able to see contents of NTFS partitions on my HDD? When i run nautilus, i see only "System" drive.
Thank you very much!

update:
1. Seems like the icon disappeared itself ^^
2, I solved it with help of wiki.
5. I have one more problem now. Since firefox didn't work well, i replaced it with google chrome and uninstalled firefox. I had set chrome as default browser but, applications like aMSN still tried to open links with firefox. So i tried to set it manually as wiki told me but it still doesn't work... i changed /usr/bin/xdg-open and tried  xdg-open http://google.com and it told me it can't find firefox.
Thx!

  • Mavericks toolbar icons missing, time and date as well

The time and date,  wifi and other icons are missing from the toolbar. Other icons are missing from the finder window and the dismiss and minimize icons are missing from all windows.  I have tried to delete the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file and also tried to reboot in safe mode to no avail.  When I do reboot, the some, but not all, of the top bar icons appear then disappear.  It must be a plist file but I haven't a clue as to which one

As far as the time and date display, have you checked to see that System Preferences > Date & Time are setup correctly:

  • I am trying to find an app that will track the usage on my iphone with times and dates to see what was accessed on my phone when I was away from it and what if anything was done eg deleted messages viewed facebook etc?

Hi! I am trying to find an app that with track everything that is done on my phone with times and dates? im not really woried about call usage and texts sent I need it to view what has been done - for example:
    Messages received
    Messages deleted
    Facebook viewed
    Messages viewed
    Internet viewed and what?
I just have an issue with someone using my phone - I used to track this through double clicking the home button and roughly knowing in what order I had been on things but they have sussed this one!
    Thank you!!

No way to do that on a non-jailbroken iPhone. Why don't you just passcode protect your phone? That way no one but you can use it...unless they know your passcode.

  • Time and DATE in Menu Bar

How do you display BOTH the time and DATE in the menu bar?

    Greg
Here is one way: Date and Time in the Menu Bar (10.3, 10.4).
If you are not keen on the command line, you could try this from macosxhints: 10.4: Easily add the date to the menubar which I think some people have used successfully.

Not a feature of Windows Phone OS, you can only change wallpaper, show artist when playing music or have password request upon lockscreen.

  • Importing video help! Need Time and date to show up on screen...

SOMEBODY HAS TO HAVE AN ANSWER!
Okay, little background... I just got a new Mac book pro lab top. First time apple user. Difficult to learn, but learned fast. I am working with IMovie HD program, got the hang of it. I have a Cannon ZR50 camcorder, mini DVR tape. Camera has DV,S, USB, AV etc.. port outs. Hooked it up to lab top to import video to lab top to edit footage add sound etc... to later burn to DVD via IDVD program
BTW: I used a DV to Firewire cable to load up footage.
PROBLEM I AM HAVING. is when I'm importing my video to the computer, time and date stamp from my camcorder's screen does not show up on Mac screen. It gets lost when importing. How I view it on my camcorder (SHOWING TIME/DATE INFO ON FOOTAGE TAKEN) is how I would like to view it after importing it to lab top to later edit ad sound tracks etc... If I hook up my camcorder to a VHS or TV, to record on tape of footage taken, Time/Date stamp of footage shows up and records on tape with no problem.
I spoke with a lot of people on this issue. Everyone refers me to someone else. I can't get an answer for something in my eyes is so simple. They all said " Why would you want the time and date stamp to show up on your footage anyway" Well I would like it to be that way. Topic got down to three things that might solve problem. 1. Need better video/editing software. 2. Need Digital Analog capture device. 3. Need new camcorder. I've been working on this problem for a day or so. It's getting rough for help. Any information on this problem would be great. If you need any more info on my issue please do not hesitate to Pm me. Thanks

    Hi SIZ4SK:
    Welcome to discussions!
You can't do that with iMovie but you can with a bit of help from a third party...
What you really need is this free plugin from TriX Software:
    DVFileDateCM

Let me know if this helps or not.

  • Time and Date not correct

    Hi to all.
Does anybody know how to save your cmos settings to a floppy or CD?
Is there a program that can assist with saving the cmos settings to floppy or CD?
Is there anyway to perform saving the cmos settings within the BIOS to floppy or CD?
I really don't want to go into the BIOS and write down all that info.
I have an HP Pavilion 553w that is 7 1/2 years old, running windows xp home edition version 2002 sp3, 2 gbs of ram, AMD athlon(tm)XP 2100+ 1.73 GHZ, bios version/date Phoenix Techologies, LTD AM35308, 10/07/2002 (Phoenix-AwardBIOS CMOS Setup Utility) SMBIOS 2.3, BIOS Core Version V6.0, BIOS Revision 3.08 10/7/2002.
I know my computer is ancient and I probably should have updated my BIOS, as it is out of date.
Also, after starting up my computer I noticed my time and date is not correct and as of lately have to adjust the time and date to the correct time and date.
I did some research and came across some possible reasons:
    1. RTC battery (CMOS battery) may need reseating on motherboard.
    2. The battery has become corrupt.
    3. BIOS version may be out of date.
My computer is really taking longer than usual to startup and images of icons take longer to display, which may be a sign of the symptoms I listed above.
My computer doesn't have any malware whatsoever, clean as can be.
Any help or advise will be truly appreciated.

    Jboman,
There is not need to save CMOS settings unless you changed the default BIOS settings.  A bad CMOS battery will not preserve the settings.

  • Startup screen shows ghost time and date

My iPhone 3Gs recently started showing a shadow time and date behind the actual time and date on the startup (unlock) screen. The narrow bar at the top also shows shadow settings that aren't the actual ones I'm using. I have downloaded the latest operating system, removed the sim card, and reset the settings but the shadows still remain. When I unlock the screen the shadow goes away. This started when I took the iPhone to Europe. Is there any way to get rid of these shadows?

You may have taken a screenshot of the locked screen and assigned that to your wallpaper. Try changing your wallpaper.

These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    sudo date 0109000014
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting. You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Confirm. You don't need to post the warning.
If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. Log in as one and start over.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear below what you entered. You can then quit Terminal. Try again to set the date.

  • How can I remove all Time Machine data from an external HD, while retaining the other folders/files on the disk?

I recently replaced my old Macbook Pro with a new Macbook Pro Retina.
The original MBP had Time Machine set up on an external HD, and I also had some manually saved/backed up files (stuff that didn't need incremental backups; very old stuff) on the disk as well, in folders.  This worked fine and well for the life of the original MBP.
When I set up the MBPr, I did not elect to transfer everything over from a Time Machine disk, as I wanted a Fresh Install; I chose to just re-download/install the apps  I needed from the App Store.  Much cleaner, more stable.  I updated to Yosemite immediately so, it gave me more of a  clean install.
The problem is, Time Machine now won't read any Time Machine backups from that disk.  Migration assistant can pull data from it, but it's a bit wonky.  It was easier to just manually copy over what I needed.
Now, I just want to "reset", and completely remove the old Time Machine data from the external hard drive, since it is completely useless to me now (I can't access it on this computer, and it's taking up space).  I want to remove the Time Machine data, as if it were never there, but keep my other folders/files that are on the disk (so, a format is not feasible).
I will then set the disk up as a new, fresh Time Machine disk for the new MBPr.
What is the proper method for removing Time Machine data from an external disk (which doesn't seem to be associated with this machine anyway)?  I know a simple rm -rf will cause problems.
    Thanks for any help provided.

See the yellow box in #12 of Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions (or use the link in *User Tips* at the top of this forum).

  • My gradson got ahold of my grandaughters IPod touch and I no longer have a settings button.  The time and date on this is wrong.  How can I fix this problem.

I need help...  I no longer have all of the buttons on my IPod touch screen.  My grandson got a hold of it and boom..  The time and date is wrong also, and I have no access to fix this problem.  There is no settings button.
    Any help would be appreciated.

Assuming that by buttons your mean the icons for various apps are missing, use the Spotlight search feature (double click the Home button and go all the way to the left past the music controls) and search for: Settings. Go to Settings>General>Reset>Reset Screen layout and also correct the time inthe Genera settings.
The Setting app can't be deleted or hidden via Restrictions.
