• Sound Blaster Audigy and STAL

I've got the following problem. In game called "S. T.A.L.K.E.R" i can hear very lound sounds of shooting and very silence people conversations.
I've got "Sound Blaster Audigy" and Creative Speakers.

Hi,
There are several choices if it comes to Audigy (emu0kx) drivers;
First you can use the last official Creative Labs' driver for the Audigy series which you can download on the official driver download site here at Creative Labs' site, but you will loose a lot of apps/softwares, but it should work;
The second one would be the mentioned Daniel_K's driverpack 3.8 for the Audigy series which works pretty good, although I dislike the individual installers/uninstallers for each applications which makes uninstallation of the driver very annoying.
The third one would be the Project KX driver which is very light in size but very powerful, especially for recording and other music related purposes. There's a learning curve since it really looks different (interfaces for example), but once you have found out how the KX driver works you will be happy you own an genuine Audigy emu0kx soundcard.

• Sound Blaster Z and Klipsch Pro Media 5.1 help!

I just installed a Sound Blaster Z in my new PC. I had a X-Fi Xtreme Music in the old PC. I use Klipsch Pro Media 5.1 speakers that have the little pod that let's you adjust speaker levels, volume, and I had my headphones running through it. Now if I set the Z Control Panel to Headphones I can't get any sound through headphones using the Klipsch "pod". If I install my headphones into the card or front panel headphone connector they work. Does anyone know how to set it up so they work with the Klipsch "pod"?

Yeah I got it working that way. It's weird that they have it so if you pick headphones, you now have to actually use the headphone connection. Well not weird, that actually makes sense, just not how it was.
I'm not sure what, if any, difference in sound between the headphone setting and 2 channel speakers are.

• Wierd issue with Sound Blaster Z and Windows 8.1

I have just started having an issue with my sound card. For the past year it has been working perfectly fine with no issues. There have been no recent changes to the computer, but within the past week, if I am in the middle of a game or listening to music, the computer will once a day lock up, I then have to restart the computer. After it restarts, the right speakers, and only the right will not work, Center, Subwoofer, and Left side speakers work 5.0. I then go the Sound Blaster Z-series control panel and re-enable the surround sound. At this point the Center and Subwoofer cease to work, but the right side works perfectly fine. After a couple of resets the center and subwoofer still do not work. I then have to go to the back of the computer and change the cable for the center / subwoofer from left most to the second left most (as looking at the back of computer from the top side). It will work fine this way with all speakers working, for roughly a day then it will lock up again. I have to go through the same process, but move the cable from the second left most to the left most output for it to work again. I tried for the past two days to troubleshoot by removing all the software and creative drivers. Same issue after reinstalling with a fresh driver set. Any help, because this is completely annoying.

Considering that there is already a ca0132 driver for linux, which was made to support chromebook pixel laptop. It should not be hard for creative to make that driver compatible with discrete cards and motherboards that make use of that chip. But Creative seriously dropped the ball on users and does not care about them. I do not understand this, because all previous creative cards are supported in linux. Steam OS and steam boxes are around the corner and Creative is missing a big opportunity.

• USB Sound Blaster MP3+ and Vi

My USB Sound Blaster MP3+ performs fantastically using the nati've drivers on Win2K and WinXP.
On Vista, however, there is a chirpy/buzzy distortion piggybacking on any signal passed through the A-to-D (line in, specifically). I've tried two different Vista PC, different powered USB hubs, and with and without the Creative USB Series Windows Vista Driver .0.0002 to no benefit.
I'm an engineer and a programmer, but not a Windows programmer. Can somebody tell me why this nearly generic USB Audio interface doesn't work with Vista I have other USB Audio devices that work fine with the nati've drivers on Vista.

Is there anyone with experience with this sound card, recording and Vista?

• Permissions problems with sound track pro and garage band

I am having a problem with the loops and sounds in Garageband and SoundTrack Pro. When I attempt to use a sound in garage band,  I get an error "an eror occurred   result code = -5000   File = Garageband-Temp-54E281E". When I do a search there are about 58 separate folders with loops or effects in them. If I isolate the one I want to use and change the permissions of the folder to everyone read and write I can use the sound, but I don't want to manually change the permissions for 58 seperate folders. I ran repair permissions using disk utility but that did not fix it. Any suggestions, I have a lab of 22 imacs, if it was just one I would just fix the permissions on it but for 22 separate machines, I would like some automation. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'll also add that I'm pretty sure I used this microphone along with the iMic USB a few years ago when I had my 'quicksilver' Mac G4 and it worked with that machine. As noted above, I've tried it with both a 2 channel and both the mono channel settings in Garage Band; but I am using a 1/4" to 1/8" jack adapter in order to plug into the iMic's 1/8" receptacle. The adapter is stereo to stereo, meaning it has both contacts for r & l. That shouldn't make a difference should it? In my experience if you are using mono equipment (like a single microphone) the sound will still be delivered through one of the two channels.

i tried everything, when i tested the soundblaster hardware it didnt pick up nothing, then i put the mic in the stock recorder input, tested that hardware on my computer and that one worked. on my adobe audition(studio recording software) i changed the recording software to the soundblaster but still getting the same results..
HELP!!!
i tried re installing the drivers but nothing works and i know for sure its not the mike
AHHHHH

Hmm... you could st check if the SB is set as preferred play/recording device in system audio settings (start run mmsys.cpl) and then as suggested by creative, disable the onboard audio system. If still not working then, check the settings in surround mixer (or windows play/recording control panels) .. used source channel opened and recording source set properly. jutapa

• Sound Blaster Z SPDIF and optical cable + DTS and DDL settings

i bought a new z-906 to have as a speaker system for my computer. what i did was:
bought sound blaster z and a optical cable. i installed the software for the sound blaster z and started configuring it.
i plugged one end of the optical cable in the SBZ and the other end in the z-906. then i started configuring using windows sound panel and SBZ i first used the spdif-out on the panel but eventually that sounded a bit off to what 5.1 should sound.
then after a good while trying to figure out why it gave me the message "usupported format" when i was trying to use DDL or DTS. i searched on google then i read something someone else couldnt figure out and used that.
what i did to get DDL and DTS to work was: (might require a fresh install of SBZ and all services in msconfig to work)
i opened windows sound panel, clicked on spdif-out and pressed properties. then i clicked on formats or supported formats tab and enabled everything with a checkbox. then clicked OK or Apply.
back on the sound panel again. here you have 2 configs that comes with the sound blaster z. i clicked on speakers then on "use as standard. then on configure and selected 5.1 surround, and on the next, center, subwoofer and rear. and unless you got a 7.1 system (or you could configure this in SBZ panel) i dont think you would need left and right front and surround-speakers since its already enabled in the first window as enhancing then i rebooted and reinstalled the SBZ and made sure all the services in msconfig tab was set to start and run on boot. and voila i had sound. (just to clarify. i didnt have sound for awhile since the DDL and DTS settings made my speakers to snowy sound until i figured out why)

one other thing you need to set in your creative control pannel speakers mode not headset mode.
and also under the cinematic tab you have to enable : Encoder : dolby digital live 5.1
then you will get sound.
the issues will crop up though if you fix em let me know, if you want the issues to happen right away select DTS as encoder we/or i know this mode will not work with these headsets but thats the same issues that popup even under dolby digital live settings.

• Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy card on your system

Hi from Barcelona!
I've a Soun Blaster Audigy card (Model: SB0090)
I tried to install the Audigy software and drivers from the original product CD but Setup was unable to find Augigy hardware and halted the installation!
"Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster card on your system. Please ensure that your Sound Blaster hardware is properly installed before running this Setup program"
By the way. Manually the sound drivers can be installed working only front speakers of the 5. Creative system
I tried a clean installation of Windows XP and Windows 2000 PRO (reformatted the hard dri've) but Audigy install CD still could not find Audigy hardware.
I've changed the card to a different PCI slot with the same results!!! Damaged?
What is happening? I need a solution!! Many users have this problem to with other Sound Blaster cards and models...

ADSLNEW wrote:
It seems to be an important BUG of Creative Sound Blaster Audigy cards related with EEPROM!!!
Yes, indeed, that is my theory as well. After much ****hing and on-line research, it seems that this problem has been around since 2002. From Creative Labs point of view, it appears they view this as "pilot error" -- the user has installed the card in a system that is not fully compliant with the latest standards -- specifically Microsofts ACPI (configuration and power management). A wide variety of configurations and/or actions seem to cause the PCI subsystem ID in the Audigy EEPROM to be erroneously overwritten -- including certain older motherboards, certain older PCI cards, and perhaps other actions.
Once the subsystem ID in the EEPROM is overwritten and has garbage information, many or all of the Creative applications cease working and various sound problems can arise. Attempts to reinstall the driver or update to the latest driver consistently fail becuase of the dreaded "Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy card in your system..." error message.
There appear to be four fixes:
) Get a replacement Audigy card from Creative, but <EM>only</EM> after you perform their prescribed troubleshooting steps to prove that the card is indeed the source of the problem. Apparently, the steps include installing the card in another PC. Apparently, Creative in Europe is more willing to replace your card than Creative in the US. It's up to Creative Labs whether or not they issue you an RMA ("Return Material Authorization").
However, this fix will fail if the root causes of the EEPROM error are not corrected. Apparently, Creative Tech Support isn't always a foolproof source of guidance, so the burden is on you. The root cause MUST be corrected before the new card is installed, or the same problem will happen all over again. Eliminating the root cause may involve replacing your motherboard, replacing other PCI cards, or manual configuration (disabling ACPI).
2) Reprogramming the EEPROM. This is for advanced PC owners only, because it involves desoldering the EEPROM, programming it, and resoldering (and even lifting some pins to prevent reprogramming). There are instructions on how to do this posted in the German Creative Labs discussion board, by a Russian (!). I have links for those who are interested.
3) Removing the Creative drivers and software (using Clean Sweep procedures and third party utilities), updating again using Windows XP SP2, then physically moving the card to different PCI slots (multiple times if necessary), until ACPI Bios writes the proper information into the EEPROM. You can then reload the drivers.
Again, the root causes of the problem must be removed or your fix will only be temporary (a day or two). This solution also seems to be very dependent on the specifics of your system (motherboard, PCI cards, etc.).
4) Some people have had success in by-passing the step in the driver installation process where they check for the Audigy card subsystem ID, using a utility called CTZAPxx on the installation CD. Then then manually install each of the applications they need to use.
5) Use the open source driver from the kX Project (http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/index.php). This driver (and associated utilities) does not depend on the detailed configuration of the card (i.e. they don't check subsystem ID) and appear to work fine even with cards with corrupted EEPROM.
This driver is aimed primarily at computer music applications, and opens up the on-card signal processing capabilities. The downside is that the Audigy 2 ZS does not have all of it's capabilities supported <EM>yet </EM>(e.g. Dolby Digital decoding, S/PIF passthrough, possibly some game sound features, THX, 24-bit recording, support for Hyperthreading CPUs, etc.). But scanning over the discussion boards, the user community seems to be MUCH happier with the performance and support associated with these drivers than with Creative's.
This is the direction I'm going. I'm not a big gamer and I don't really care about the latest in home theater audio performance. Basic 5. surround sound is all I care about, and I'm much more interested in computer music capabilities.
I have also lost faith in Creative Labs as a vendor to provide the support I want and need going forward. Just imagine if the Creative Labs were running the Space Shuttle program :smileysurprised:.

• Sound Blaster XFI MB3 issue

Hi,
I own a Dell XPS 15 laptop, 2011 edition, running Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit. I purchase Sound Blaster X Fi MB3 about a month and half ago, I felt changes in the sound output after using this software. I noticed last few days that whenever I try to increase or decrease the volume on my system, it does not effect the sound output. First I noticed in the game, after that it started to happen every time.
I thought the realtek audio driver was corrupted, I re-installed it. But no changes happened. I then uninstalled the sound blaster software and restarted the system. The controls started working perfectly. I did some search on net regarding this problem and found something to do with the audio output being sent to wrong playback device.
I checked the volume advance setting and found that, modifying the volume on xfi properties did not effect the sound, but realtek properties were effecting the sound output. I still get the sound blaster enhancement working though. I do not understand how the setting is working when the realtek option doesnt show sound output but does have control to volume.
Has anyone come across any such issue ?

Then after a week I understood that this is because the volume is not working. I checked it out, and found that realtek driver was getting the sound instead of sound blaster driver. I am getting the enhanced sound output though. But for volume, I have to reduce it from realtek volume control,I enabled it from volume mixer. Here are the snaps of the options:

I have raised the issue with creative team, but they were not able to find the issue. I just want to know which software is having issue, is it the OS or the XFi MB3...
Thanks
Hi kromastorm,
It's hard to tell but based on the snap shots, it seems that the volume controls of the Realtek and X-Fi MB3 are not in sync. Under normal condition, the volume levels should be in sync.
Suggest that you uninstall the X-Fi MB3 first; follow by the Realtek driver. Download and install the latest Realtek driver before reinstalling back the X-Fi MB3 software. I reckon there are software updates that may interfere with the software behaviour; so be sure to disable any background programs before proceeding.

• Sound Blaster SE, driver not install

Hi, I just went out and bought Sound Blaster SE and installed it on my computer. But, no sound... so I uninstalled it fully and came here and downloaded the newest driver, I installed it and still.. no sound. So I came here and followed all of the guides and STILL NO SOUND! So I went into DxDiag and checked DirectSound and this is what is shows:
[img"]http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y278/Jamlpr/DxDiag.png[/img]
After running the test directsound button I get this:
[img"]http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y278/Jamlpr/DxDiag2.png[/img]
Note the (No Driver).. odd seeing how it says 3 inches above this that I do infact have a driver installed..
I have onboard sound disabled and I have pcspeaker disabled. I'm running Windows XP Professional. The "no WHQL" wasn't there when I installed the driver via CD, but I still had the same (No Driver) issue.. so I don't think it is that.
If I can recieve ANY help, It will be much appreciated. I would just like to have working sound!

Sorry to double post, but I have heard that reinstalling Xp Pro will fix this problem, but I do not have the CDs anymore.. and I can't shell out the money to buy it again (that's why I got SE, it's cheap). Is there any other fix?

Thanks for your reply
I am sorry for the problem you are facing.
To achieve outputs from all the speaker during speaker test, you will need to have an analog connection, or digital DIN connection.
That will be possible if you connect the three line out jacks on your soundcard, to the three audio input (analog jacks->green,black,orange) on your speaker, if it has this connection. Or, you may connect them using Digital DIN, if they have this connection.
If you are using digital connection (coaxial, optical), there will be no way to achieve sound output from all the speakers during 5. speaker test, as they carry stereo signal.

Thanks for your reply
Your soundcard is Audigy 2 ZS
Your speaker is Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500
You will need to have a 3:3 cable(with the color green, black, orange)
to connect your soundcard to your speaker, to achieve the 5. effects
with games.
Below is the connection:
- Connect line out jack of Audigy 2 ZS
to 'Front' of Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500 using the green color
connection
- Connect line out 2 jack of Audigy 2 ZS
to 'Rear' of Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500 using the black color
connection
- Connect line out 3 jack of Audigy 2 ZS
to 'Center/Subwoofer' of Creative Inspire 5. Digital 5500 using the
orange color connection
Once you have done the correct connection, play the game DOOM3.
Ensure you have selected either the EAX or surround option in the game
settings.
Does it work?

All commercial digital connection eg. optical or coaxial cable will only
carry PCM stereo signal. If you want to output the signal to a surround
5. with extra EAX environment effects, it will not be possible at all
since it is only restricted to stereo channel signal.
As per current industry limitations, we are bound to follow the standard
one-signal output for all our SPDIF and Optical output jacks. This is
something that is currently shared by all vendors for all products.
Please note that all games are not dolby digital, even they are , it
will require certain motherboard to encode it to dolby digital signal,
which our soundcard does not support.
You can only use analog connections to gain true 5. surround for
gaming..

the Inspire 5. will not do the job.
Kind regards

Dear Martin
Thank you for the reply.
Computer games written with support for 3D audio do not require a Dolby
Digital Interacti've Content Encoder (DICE) to output multichannel sound,
with no exceptions. Sound devices that support the real time encoder
technology from Dolby will simply receive the multichannel wave file
output and encode it in real time to a somewhat modified Dolby Digital
bitstream. Creative does not support the Dolby Digital Interacti've
Content Encoder on any of its sound cards.
The only difference between a Sound Blaster card and an audio card that
has a real time encoder, is that you can make a one-wire, digital
connection from your audio card to your home theater receiver and enjoy
discrete multichannel sound from the game. However there will be a
continuous, slight delay, known as "latency", as the encoder is creating
and transmitting the bitstream, and of course the compression scheme
being used is "lossy" (i.e. not bit-accurate).
If you want to enjoy 3D audio in 3D enabled PC games in multichannel
surround sound with a Sound Blaster card, it is recommended that you
connect the analog outputs of the sound card directly to the analog
inputs of the receiver. This will require 3 cables for 5. surround
sound, one for front right and left, one for rear left and right, and
another one for front center and subwoofer. Though it requires more
cables than a real time encoder system, it will not have any latency
issues. When connecting PC audio to a home theater receiver, Creative's
latest sound cards such as Sound Blaster Audigy, Sound Blaster Audigy 2
are likely to provide higher quality audio than any Dolby Digital real
time encode system available for the PC today.

Hi
One particular game which has "in-game" DD is Farcry; I used this as my
benchmark disc for DD and to push my Nvidia 7800 GTX GPU's (I have tried
it
on friend's machines and they get the full surround effect so I Know
this
version is ok. I also have ALL of the game patches & updates.
I would like to point out that while playing Doom 3, Half Life 2,Fear,
Colin
McRae rally 04,FIFA 2004,Meddle of honour pacific assault, Rome, Shadow
ops, All these games have EAX HD, which is enabled within the options
menu
"in-game", But I do not get ANY use out of the rear's and I might as
well
listen in stereo.
No, inspire 5500 does not automatically switch while "in-game" when DD
is present as you would expect, but does if it was a Movie, which makes
me
think the DD stream isn't getting to the processor.
I originally thought I could put all this to rest if I could buy the
control
panel that would have come with the Sound card if I had not tried to
save
money, but every time I search your accessories site I get completely
lost,
it really isn't user friendly, the sub-menus are very time consuming and
point you in the wrong direction because they are not categorised as Joe
public would understand
I downloaded your TEST Movies and creative demo player utility, ran it
but
still no EAX HD or DD if that were present.
I want to put this card and Processor into my boys computer (which is
the
same Spec as mine and I will update to the FX series, but I am unwilling
if
I cannot find a logical reason why this set-up cannot work first.
Would it have anything to do with the pins on the Digital out on the
sound
card plug, the one I bought and was attached to the last email? Only
sending
certain channels down to the processor?

Is there any game patches that you will need to update?
Does the Dolby Digital LED light up when you are playing the game?

I also own Inspire 5. amp/processor
I Wanted to save money by connecting above sound

Connections on sound card made life very difficult
I contacted Creative for help. you told me to buy
an RCA to mini jack cord which also has other connections, from your
web site, (I tried to find
the product number for you, but your sub-menu
system is so poor I couldn't locate the RCA/mini
3.5 /to phono link for you) this cord connects
directly into the digital in, on the sound card (3.5 Mini jack) to the
coaxial input on the
inspire 5. amp/processor.
I have enabled ALL sp-diff settings and digital in
setting on every program/utility/kitchen sink and all.
I have an SP-Diff wire from DVD burner to creative
sound card, and yes its enabled and digital only
is selected.
I can play a DVD and see the inspire 5.
automatically change from Pro-logic to Dolby
digital when it See's an AC-3 stream.
when I try and play ANY game you say has EAX
,2,3,4 I cannot get any sound from my rear
speakers (see above in Dolby Digital ALL speakers
work correctly)
when I enter the set-up menu within the creative
software you supply with the sound card and select
5. speaker, digital only, test the speakers via
the white noise function, all i hear is left and
right noise. no centre, no rears.
I phoned you tech support line, the boy on the
phone didn't have much of a clue about your
product and I had to tell him what connections sit
on the inspire 5. series amp/processor.
I want to build another PC for my son, I want to
add the FX series sound card and amp, but i am not
willing to buy anything until i feel you have

• A message from Creative to the Sound Blaster forum participa

We have read the strong feedback about Creative's forum post regarding driver development by Daniel_k and other outside parties. Creative's message posted on our behalf by our Company spokesperson tried to address our concern about the improper distribution of certain software which is the property of other companies. However, we did not make it as clear as we would have liked that we do support driver development by independent third parties. The huge task of developing driver updates to accommodate the many changes in the Vista operating system and the extensi've testing required, including the lengthy Vista certification requirements for audio, makes it very difficult for Creative to develop updates for all past products. Outside developers have been very helpful to Creative and our customers by developing updates for many of our Sound Blaster products, and we do support and appreciate these efforts. This however does not extend to the unauthorized distribution of other companies' property. We hope to work out a mutually agreeable method for working with Daniel_k in supporting his efforts in driver development. Going forward, we are committed to doing a better job of working more closely with third parties to support their development for our products and our customers.

May I be the first to say:
Thank you for finally responding. :smileyvery-happy:
It may be the beginning of repairing Creative's unfathomably huge PR snafu. Hopefully you guys can pull this one off, starting with this thread. If you can actually take this and turn the whole company around with it, I'm sure many Creative swear-offers may once again return to your products. By turning around, I mean:
- Quit crippling hardware with bad (or intentionally bad) software. Yes, other companies (like nVidia, Intel, AMD, etc...) do this to maintain low production cost, but when it does work, it works well, and their products are branded as "lower priced alternati'ves". Everyone's seen unpopulated component pads on hardware boards, which entices people to want to buy the full featured version. But doing it between operating systems is absolutely ridiculous!
- Support the driver community. Drivers dri've hardware. No drivers, no hardware! Concentrate as much effort on your drivers as you do your excellent hardware, and you will have a high quality product once again. I still love that the old ISA Sound Blasters often had built-in speaker amplifiers. That's a mark of quality and creativity. Hopefully you can do it again!
- Rethink your corporate strategy. Everyone now knows about Creative's history of buying up companies to stifle competition... you've got to quit that stuff. It may give you more capital, but doing it in a Microsoftian fashion is just bound to get you bad press that your company isn't Microsoft-sized enough to handle. Again.
- While Windows Vista may be the worst operating system in existence, that in no way gives you the right to refuse support on older hardware when it's darn well capable of being supported. nVidia and ATI are shining examples of this - they still support their most ancient of hardware in the newest operating systems. That's what's given me the ability to put ned versions of Windows XP on darn near every computer I come across, and make it run better than ever. You need to quit spewing out excuses and start spewing out working drivers.
- And for crying out loud, your driver self extractor is atrocious. It doesn't need to rattle off the CRC as it computes each byte. I can't be the only person that is annoyed by that
With that, let's see the news flow right on in.
