Sound Blaster 5.1 (SB0680) subwoofer is

I have a problem setting up SB 5. (SB0680) card. It is not Li've series card. In 5. mode all speakers are OK apart from subwoofer. There is no signal in the chanel, I verified it with AC3 filter. Subwoofer itself works fine as I can test it with other working chanel. I am using the latest available drivers for this card from the Creative web site. Strange, but in Creative Diagnostic there is no option to test subwoofer even in 5. mode. Checking threads for other cards I saw a lot of messages about Bass Redirection to fix subwoofer issue, but have not found anything like this in Creative Mixer software for the SB0680 card.
Do I miss something or doing wrong?

By the way my point is not to buy a new Sound card from Creative because I just bought this card and now it doesn't work with vista
!!! and now people tell me if I paid more money and bought a new card, should I throw my month old card Creative I need support on this problem, whether to exchange this card with newer one that supports vista and pay the extra cash!!!

i am having some problem with my sound blaster x-fi. when playing a song it is smooth suddenly there will be some crankling sound from my subwoofer. but when i reset my speakers it is fine but why the crankling sound occurs.

man....i think you must recheck the connecters from Soundcard and your speakers.A poor connect can make poor quality. In catalogue say the same thing.
And can you help me answer this question:

-And when i use it with an Audigy soundcard and in 'quad mode' of speaker then the problem happen : there is no bass at all with two rear speakers.And sadly to say,This mode is very useful for gamer. Subwoofer volume disabled in speaker settings (Sound Blaster Liv

Hello, I have the Sound Blaster Li've! card (CT4780) and Cambridge Soundworks FPS2000 speakers (4. system) on Windows XP Pro SP2. I've installed the latest drivers from Creative Labs.
My problem: very little bass output from my subwoofer, even when I adjust the subwoofer dial to max. If I go to Speaker Settings in AudioHQ(?), the sliders for the subwoofer volume is disabled. How do I enable this?
What are the correct speaker to sound card connections? My speaker system only has left and right jacks, and a SPDF(?) digital jack, but my sound card doesn't have the SPDF output. I connect my left/right jacks to the appropriate line out/rear out jacks on the sound card. I can hear sounds from all speakers, but would just like to have the subwoofer output more sound.
The AudioHQ will only let me select a 4 speaker system type, and there is no 4. option selected. Maybe this is the problem? If not, then how do I enable the subwoofer volume slider in speaker settings of AudioHQ?

The Li've! Value is a 4.0 soundcard and doesn't have a dedicated subwoofer output. It can only dri've Front L/R and Rear L/R. The 4. speaker system generates its own subwoofer signal by extracting the bass from these channels.
Bass redirection, crossover frequency, AC-3 decode are only available on the Li've!5. SB0060 and don't apply to yer soundcard. AC-3 decode on the card would be nice, but Creative pays Dolby a licensing fee for every soundcard to support the feature and your card was sold before they struck their deal with Dolby so all previously sold cards don't support it.
Bass redirection and the crossover frequency is to send the bass from the front L/R, Rear L/R and Centre channels to the subwoofer. Since the Li've! models before the Li've!5. didn't have a subwoofer channel either none of this applies to yer card.
The centre channel volume is also missing because your card doesn't have a centre/sub output.
The only reason these features show up in yer drivers and applications is because all the Li've! and Li've 5. ( but not the Li've! 24 bit/7. ) models use the same driver.
To fix yer bass issue, try adjusting the subwoofer level on the speakers and alternati'vely increase the bass level in the Creative Mixer applet.Message Edited by nvidiot on 02-07-2006 09:29 PMMessage Edited by nvidiot on 02-07-2006 09:42 PM

I can't seem to find how to install that driver. :S I have been searching and searching over the internet for that driver. Can this card be verified on W7 64 bit's If not, is there like a trick or something?

Wierd issue with Sound Blaster Z and Windows 8.1

I have just started having an issue with my sound card. For the past year it has been working perfectly fine with no issues. There have been no recent changes to the computer, but within the past week, if I am in the middle of a game or listening to music, the computer will once a day lock up, I then have to restart the computer. After it restarts, the right speakers, and only the right will not work, Center, Subwoofer, and Left side speakers work 5.0. I then go the Sound Blaster Z-series control panel and re-enable the surround sound. At this point the Center and Subwoofer cease to work, but the right side works perfectly fine. After a couple of resets the center and subwoofer still do not work. I then have to go to the back of the computer and change the cable for the center / subwoofer from left most to the second left most (as looking at the back of computer from the top side). It will work fine this way with all speakers working, for roughly a day then it will lock up again. I have to go through the same process, but move the cable from the second left most to the left most output for it to work again. I tried for the past two days to troubleshoot by removing all the software and creative drivers. Same issue after reinstalling with a fresh driver set. Any help, because this is completely annoying.

Considering that there is already a ca0132 driver for linux, which was made to support chromebook pixel laptop. It should not be hard for creative to make that driver compatible with discrete cards and motherboards that make use of that chip. But Creative seriously dropped the ball on users and does not care about them. I do not understand this, because all previous creative cards are supported in linux. Steam OS and steam boxes are around the corner and Creative is missing a big opportunity.

Gee, I think it's catching on. I was VERY dissapointed when I wasted my money on the SB Li've! 24bit PCI. That card apparently isn't a Li've! card, it's got a different chipset. It performs horribly with games and there are no other drivers to use for it. Not even the Audigy 2 hack and the kX audo project will work with it. This is like the **bleep** child of all Sound Blasters. No support, no reasonable performance, and horrible drivers. I just joined this forum today and this is the 5th topic related to SB Li've! 24 bit issues that I've seen yet. And what does creative take into initiati've about it's Nothing. Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Loses LFE Chan

Hi. I have a Sound Blaster Li've! 5. card hooked up Analog (3 RCA cables) to a Sony Home Theater System (SA-HT05). The 5. works perfectly for Center, Front, and Rear channels. However, I cannot get any ouput from the LFE channel. My reciever can simulate 5. through stereo source, and doing this I am able to get output so I know that my sub is not the problem.
I have tried increasing the bass vs treble in the Creative Surround Mixer (00 Bass vs 2 Treble) and there is still no LFE output.
I have tried using Bass Redirection in the Creative Surround Mixer (All Frequencies) and this also resulted in no LFE output.
After playing around with an audio decoder (FFDShow) and increasing the bass (double to triple output) and then listening to only that channel, I was able to hear some output. This makes me think that most likely something is making my LFE channel extremely soft, to the point where I cannot hear it unless it is the only channel playing.
Has anyone experienced this problem before, know a fix, or perhaps even a workaround ? (FFDShow only seems to do video files, can I configure it to be my default decoder for ALL audio [video games, etc]?
PS. Unless I am mistaken, there have been no new drivers for this device either (I used the update within windows as well as searching this site)

You will get better results using bass redirection in yer surround mixer or speaker settings. Once you do this however, you'll find that the bass levels are somewhat low ( but better than without bass redirection ).

Basically currently only the X-Fi family with its +5dB subwoofer boost in bass redirection mode will generate a decent subwoofer channel.
Once you enable surround mixer, you could add a +0dB subwoofer volume level boost on yer receiver ( assuming yer receiver has this option )

Sound Blaster X-FI 5.1 Speakers

I am trying to configure my 5. speaker system to work on my laptop using Windows XP. When I run the test -- all speakers work fine and 5. is selected as default.
But - when I go to play music thorugh iTunes - the two small and the sub are working (3 are not).
When I got to play music through the internet - no speakers work.
Any help is much appreciated.

Ok, nevermind, I was going to use it as 2.1 anyway, because I am taking my speakers to dorm and I can only fit subwoofer and LR speakers. But another problem. I connected my LR speakers and subwoofer to 2.1 input to my Surround 5.1 pro, but subwoofer slider is not doing anything, bass is too high and it's making my things on table vibrate Equalizer is working, but I would adjust subwoofer as it is rather then adjusting frequencies in EQ, how do I do that? My sub is already set on lowest bass volume possible, but it's still too much.

I just bought creative sound blaster 5. soundcard. The model number is SB0680. I installed it for windows xp, but when I played DVD video with PowerDVD, the sound was terrible, it was lagged. I tried to update the driver, but when i visited creative.com, there was no driver for SB0680 model? so how do i suppose to fix this problem? Anybody would help me?

Creative Sound blaster 5.1 prob

Hi all,
I bought a creative sound blaster 5. sound card yesterday to replace my onboard realtek alc655 soundcard hoping that i can hear a sound? from my edifier m3350 5. speakers but it failed me.
I done the creative diagnostic, all had pass. Then I test the speaker, front left have no sounds but there is sound from the subwoofer (voice: "Front left"); center is perfect i can hear it; front right is the same as front left it is coming from the subwoofer. Rear left and rear right have no sounds at all.
This is also my problem with my onboard realtek alc655, i only have a sound with the center/subwoofer and front that is why i buy a creative sound card.
All are connected in proper way,

Sound blaster live 24bit full volume buzzing soun

hello ,??i just recently bought sound blaster li've 24bit, i have got 2.0 alteclansing VS220 speakers(no subwoofer), wanted to ask when i turn my speakers to medium volume ok no buzz , no problems but when i turn it to max. loud buzz comes from speakers, is it my speakers or is it the sound card signal to strenght ratio thing i don't know help me out.

Type in run " msconfig" and look for the startup item for the app, in your case?CTsysvol . Place a check in the box next to it.
Also type in run "services.msc" scroll down and enure that anything for Creative is set to Auto.
Try that and see how ya go.

Connection problem? Inspire T6200 to sound blaster

Dear all..
I connect my Inspire T6200 to my Sound Blaster 5.1 VX .
1) I disbled my on board sound card in BIOS.
2) I installed the sound card to my mainboard and installed the software.
3) I used the software provided by creative to test the speakers.
4) I attached the pins of the speakers to my sound card as followed:-
Green Pin to Green Hole
Black Pin to Black Hole
Orange Pin to Orange Hole
Pink Pin(attached with wired remote) - Not sure where to attach.
**Also left the blue hole of the sound card empty**
5) Front left and Front right speakers are correct,
When tested for Rear left/right and Centre speaker,
all sound came out from the subwoofer.
I desperately seek help from you guys.
What went wrong? What should I do?

Hi, I just purchased a pair of Kinyo 5. surround headphones and when I connect them to my Sound Blaster Li've! 5. Digital (Dell) soundcard, the center speaker sounds much weaker than the rest. I'm guessing that the black output on the card board is the rear speaker output, the green one the sides, and the yellow one the center/subwoofer or digital out. Enabling the CMSS setting helped a bit, but it still seems quite weak. Either that or the rear and side speakers are too loud. Is there any way with the card I have to adjust the levels of the side, rear, and center speakers?

Try turning on the CMSS features. The sticky at the top of this (Sound Blaster) forum covers the steps on how to enable CMSS or you can check out the Knowledgebase article SID4883 for the steps.
