Sound Blaster Arena Gaming Headset Microphone Issue

I have a problem with my SB Arena Gaming Headset, but for the life of me have been unable to contact Creative Support about it. I tried to create an RMA on Creative's support site, but the site told me that the product serial # was unrecognized or active. I had previously registered the headset on Creative's website. When I try to send Creative Support an e-mail via the website, the connection times out, stating that the server at 203.2.42.97 is taking too long to respond. Very frustrating. The boom microphone on the headset isn't working properly. In order for anyone to actually hear me, I need to hold the microphone so close to my mouth that it is brushing my lips. If I leave it at its default location, then nobody can hear a word that I'm saying. If I put it where they can hear me, it is so muffled that I'm unintelligible. Has anyone else experienced this (either the mic issue or the support issue)? I would love to get in touch with Creative, as the warranty ends in less than a month.

    I am using Vista. I have used Creative Software AutoUpdate and all my drivers are up to date.
    So I had the set for about month before tonight I plugged the detachable microphone into it. Its as if it doesn't exist. When I go to sound/recording It shows: Headset/SB Arena Headset/Working. It is set as default. But it doesn't specifically say microphone. Just the headset stuff. The line volume is at 00. But when I talk into it... Nothing.
    A look at the Arena FAQs turned up this:
    "Are there any indications that the microphone is working?
    You should see an orange circle light at the Inline controls. If this orange light blinks, it indicates that the microphone is switched off."
    Google searched for Inline controls and I'm still not sure what they are. I've never used a gaming headset before so the trick to this could be overly simple and I'm just not seeing it. Its really starting to tick me off though. Did I just get a brick set and now its to late to return?
    I even tried uninstalling my mobo audio drivers. That didn't do anything. Tried using windows audio recorder. Nothing.
    Please help me.

    I bought the Complexity edition of the Sound Blaster Arena Surround USB Gaming Headset. After using it for months the USB connector part of the headset breaks and falls apart.     I want to know if can get this repaired as this is a defect. When i tried submitting an RMA it says that the serial isnt recognized but when i registered my product it works.

    Please get in touch with customer support here if you have problems with the online RMA. I'm not sure but for issues like this, they may have to ask you to send in a pic of the defective part.

  • How does one enable Stereo Mix on the Sound Blaster Arena Surround USB Gaming Headset

    I'm usually streaming games and I picked up this headset to replace my old gear.
    I've noticed in 32-bit XP Pro I do not have the option to enable stereo mix which was how i was able to stream game audio and commentary on.
    Does a work around exist to enable stereo mix or to otherwise transmit audio from both the input and playback sources?
    BTW I've also posted this on the Livestream forums to see if I can get a bite.

    I have a Sound Blaster Arena Surround usb Gaming Headset and the left speaker no longer works.
    I have tried the headset on multiple computers ranging from xp to vista to 7. some have different versions of the driver. On all the left audio is silent.
    I would like to redeem my warranty because I bought the product on 08/04/10
    But I no longer have the box or booklet that came with it and therefore can’t get the serial number for the device.
    Is there anything you guys can do to help me?

  • Problem: Sound Blaster Arena Surround USB Gaming Headset

    I have one of these Sound Blaster Arena Surround USB Gaming Headset, which are 7..
    I have Windows 7 as OS on my computer and it gives me a few problems.
    W7 recognises the headset as a "Stereo" headset. The headset has a Sound Card of it's own and uses the drivers that come with the Installation CD for Surround settings that are mad in Audio Control Panel or Creative Entertainment Console.
    This is a problem.
    For example. Playing Call of Duty 5: World at War.
    The audio settings on this game, always (and is unchangeable) goes after the default Audio Device. And then it recognises my Headset. And puts in STEREO config. Since it was W7 recognises, and I cant change that on the game and neither on the Audio Settings on the computer. Which make the subwoffer and Surround effects useless which is a hard bummer, since it's such an awesome headset and is totally awesome when i play Battlefield: Bad Company 2.
    I really want to know how I can fix this! Please help me. Any settings or special config in the cfg files you can do on Call of Duty 5 or and settings or stuff I can do to change so W7 recognises my headset with the 7.!

The result was the wires separating from the USB end. They are quite distinguishable and not impossible to solder. However knowing which wire corresponds to which solder point is beyond me. I contacted Creative. They will not help me. If anyone has a Sound Blaster Arena Surround USB Gaming Headset and would be willing to open up the plastic housing on the USB end to tell me what goes where I would greatly appreciate it. Also the plastic housing will go back together. If any additional info is necessary, please inquire.

    Hey all,
    I bought a Arena gaming headset today. and i am very impressed by the quality of the sound. but that SVM is just annoying me! How can i disable SVM i have look all over the Entertainment Console but ?I cant find it..
    I have looked on the web and on the creative forums i the only thing i can find is that you need a Creative sound card.. I dont hope this is the only solution. I my old SB Audigy 2 decided not to work ?anymore. so i really hope it isnt nessecery to have..

    PS. I also posted this thread on the headset section as I didnt know in what section i needed to post it.

    I did have a Creative HS-1200 before this one. and I do think that SVM got enabled because the music fluctuede from loud to soft to loud again in some part of the music. And it is in every song i played so far.
    I am going to uninstall/sweep all creative drivers and programs and clean install the drivers from the CD that came with the headset. If that solves the problem, I will report it back

    Hi, I got my Sound Blaster Arena headset last year when I started gaming. The drivers installed right away, so I didn't think I needed the CD. Recently, I've been reading on how to improve quality on the headset by installing some things that are on the CD, but now I can't find it. I think I might have thrown it out with the box (not that I have a CD-rom drive anyway).
    Can anyone tell me what programs would be on that CD that comes with the Sound Blaster Arena? Does anyone know if I can get the ISO or the programs from an external source?

    You can find the drivers in the download area but some of the applications aren't available for download. If you are looking for the installation cd, you might want to write to Customer Support to see how they can help you with this.

  • Sound Blaster Arena Headphones Problem - On and Off

    I have a problem with my Sound Blaster Arena Headset. Its been working perfectly until yesterday. It keeps turning on and off in the playback devices but it stays off unless I replug the USB or switch USB ports. Then shortly after it works again it turns off again. When it says "No audio output device installed" on the list of playback devices, there is a static noise coming out of the headphones like a beat of a pulse. I tried reinstalling numerous times and still no difference. I also tried plugging in the USB in the back of the computer, but with same results, the headset becomes "unplugged" again.     Yo, if you ever come back here(you last visited in March) We can probably help one another. The wires you are talking about are:
    red/blue = V+ or volume up
    red/green = MIC switch on/off
    green/copper = G (ground for the LED)
    FULL red = L or left earphone. I have this associated with tp7.
    I have no wires connected to my circuit board. I have been using trial an error to identify what goes where. However I have been given ONE godsend. When the wires were ripped from the circuit board the white sheathed wire left a little section on the circuit board identifying it as tp5.
    IF all you have is the four missing connections you could easily use trial n error. Touching the missing wires to each node.
    for the mic switch. Open up ventrilo and get it listening for the mic.
    process of elimination. Then you can do volume up. or get the led working by touching the ground to the nodes(possibly the easiest)
    I'm going back to the drawing board with the the red wire.

    I use a Plantronics Bluetooth headset M55 connect new IPAD (IOS6.0), long press the voice dialing, SIRI from Bluetooth headset microphone can not pick up sound, still or IPAD comes with a microphone to pick up sound, SIRI does not recognize, but canfrom the earpiece of the Bluetooth headset to hear the SIRI feedback sound.Want to be able to solve this bug.

    Same issue on my wife's iPhone 4S. I suspect it is related to the recent 6.1.2 iOS update (Note: I have a 3S and the update did not cause any issues).
    I've tested both bottom and top mics on the 4S using video recorder and both mics work fine. Speakerphone and headset during calls also work fine. The issue is only related to the bottom mic while making calls. I can hear the caller but the caller cannot hear me. If I hold the mic very close to my mouth, the caller can hear a very low level signal.
    The problem appears to be software related, not hardware.

    Ok, I just bought a brand new Microphone, a Sennhesier pc-50 and a brand new sound blaster audigy 2 ZS. When i go to test my mic in a team-speak server of mine, the green button wont light up at all (meaning it wont work). The odd thing is, people in team-speak hear key clicks, my msn beeps, and music that i play, but not my voice. I've tried to switch the wires around while recording myself but it still wont work. I also looked to see if i placed my head phones in the right slot, and the mic in the right slot and it still wont work. The headphones are brand new, and work on another computer. Its just not working on this one. Please help

Whether or not they are looking into this or otherwise. No one has had the problem solved.. and if someone has and reads this .. LET US KNOW. At the moment, however, I have learned one thing based on this problem: Don't buy any more SB / CL Products!!!

    What about disabling your on-board sound card and boot into Windows without connecting the Sound Blaster Play!. Then restart and connect your Sound Blaster Play! again.
