Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Recording Prob

I recently re-installed my audigy, and for some reason I cannot get any sound when I plug my guitar into the Line-In on the front. I check the recording/playback setting, and everything seems to be ok. I'm wondering if it might be a problem with the hardware. Any thoughts?

If the card came supplied with the PC, then you may need to contact Dell to get specific drivers or applications for it.
Is the card working correctly now? Is it listed in Device Manager, with no error messages? What did you use to reinstall, was it a CD, or a driver? If it was just a basic driver pack, then it's likely that doesn't include any extra applications.

I have a problem with Sound Blaster Audigy SE,
Im using newest from creative download site SBA_PCDRV_LB__04_006.exe drivers.
After I turn on a game like ut2004, fear combat, even dxdiag (sound test) or pause sound in music/movie player system stops reacting or process "System" uses 95-00% of my CPU.
After few tests I discovered with help of KrView (kernel view soft) that p7filt.sys uses such big ammount of cpu If in Speaker Settings, Bass Redirection and Subwoofer Gain (+5) is turned on. (5. speakers)
I installed a bit diffrent version of drivers (from cd and even later I tested SBSE7_XP_Jul2005 additional driver). But then Subwoofer Gain option isnt working at all
its written Subwoofer Gain (+0) and with sub gain +0 sound quality very poor like in AC97 audio.
Ive also checked friends sound card on my pc and also i've tested exactly same thing on other computer.
I have xp sp2 with updates, newest bios, directX, etc etc...

OK..first of all the Audigy SE lacks any form of hardware acceleration, so turning on features like bass boosting/sound post-processing etc. will take away a lot of CPU time. The file you mentioned just acts as a software real-time filter, although it should not go up to the point of bringing a 2.4 Ghz Pentium 4 to its knees.
The sound quality will be altered even with every "DSP" effect (quoted because there's no actual hardware DSP, it's just emulated in software) set to 0, as long as the "DSP is considered acti've.
That's because the sound output is first converted from the time domain to the frequency domain (in poor words, the continuous sound wave you hear is broken down in many different frequencies like in those 80s ghettoblasters spectrum analyzers) because it's easier to amplify bass/treble that way, and then converted back to time domain (in even poorer words, a continuous sound wave you can hear/record/playback).
It's obvious that doing that thing in real time has a CPU cost, and even more obvious that the procedure is lossy and the input will not be the same as the output even with no effect applied, as long as the this double conversion takes place.
If you really need bass boost, turn any sound processing on the card OFF, and use speakers which have it. Also, if the CPU usage is abnormally high, try updated or a specific older version of the drivers that has more reasonable CPU usage/doesn't have that bug.

Sound Blaster Audigy Advanced MB prob

So, I purchased the upgrade and then it said that I should run a program named "MBsetup.exe" which I should have received but didnt, cant find it anywhere and I'm getting pretty pissed off by this now. Cant contact creative by email or download that setup anywhere else.
What do I do?

Sound Blaster Audigy Plantium Pro prob

my ext dri've was working fine this morning then after i formatted my computer a bit later its unpowered for some reason and yes, i checked all cables they r connected correctly just like when it worked but now its still unpowered, the green light is not onanyone has any idea what causing this?

You might just check to see if the card is seated correctly in the PCI slot. I assume the card still works without the external box?

Creative Sound Blaster Audigy ZS And Vista Driver installation prob

I Use Vista 64Bit Ultimate and when I try to install this package I have an error message after my language selection. Is there a known issue for this

Yes it is called trying to install the wrong driver for your card. Will work much better if you try installing the correct one,

Sound Blaster Audigy with 5.1 Speakers prob

I have 5. speakers with a sound blaster audigy sound card. I've installed all the drivers and additional programs but it looks like my 2 rear speakers are not working. I thought maybe it was some kind of speaker problem but when i switched the 2 rear with the 2 front then the rear worked but front didn't. In the surround mixer i tested the 5. and here are the results:
- Front Left (Sound: OK, Speaker: OK)
- Center (Sound: NO SOUND)
- Front Right (Sound: OK, Speaker: OK)
- Rear Left (Sound: OK, Speaker: NO - The sound comes from the center speaker)
- Rear Right (Sound NO - It sounds very strange... bearly you can understand the words, Speaker: NO - The sound comes from the center speaker)
The wired are set correctly i checked it and I dont know what it might be wrong. Drivers are ok and everything are installed. Help please.

Does this not indicate two of the speakers are not physically working? Or have a mis-interpreted?

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Prob

I usually don't have major problems with my computer.. I scan reguarly and check for spyware... I keep my computer clean..etc..
Last night I rebooted and got errors...
one was:
PCI input device could not be found..
and also
394 network adapter
I also had no sound..
I reinstalled (I thought) and got my sound back..with no icon on the task bar..(no diagnostics) come to find out I had not installed and when I tried it would not let me..gave me another error saying..
could not detect sound blaster audigy 2 on this system
Please ensure sound blaster hardware is properly installed before running this setup program
this setup will now exit..
I do have sound now..but its still not showing I have Sound blaster audigy 2 software or anything of Sound Blaster on my computer..
I have checked device manager and all hardware is working properly..
I have a dell computer with windows xp
any help would be greatly appreciated..

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Prob

Recently I've purchased the Creative Power Pack Pro 7., it included the Creative GigaWorks 7. S750
speakers, and Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro soundcard. I've installed my Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro card and setup my Sound Blaster GigaWorks S750 speakers but so far after many attempts haven't gotten them to work. I've tried all updates off the Creative site and gone through the cards settings. For some reason in the speaker settings it only lists Headphones, 2., 4. and 5. speaker settings, leaving out 7.. I've checked all plugins and hookups, and am stuck for now. I have a brand new Sony Vaio computer, so i know that my computer is not the problem. I read through all the forms and I was only able to find one other question like mine, one person answered saying that the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro is not compatible with 7. speakers. I have no clue why Creative would sell the Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro and GigaWorks S750 7. speakers if they are not compatible with each other. Someone please help me. Thanks.

i recently bought a sound blaster audigy platinum EX(not the audigy 2 plat. EX)i was just wondering if the sound from this sound card is better then the on board sound of the k8n ne plat. i have a feeling that it is, i just want to make sure. also, has anyone had any problems installing this type of card and if so how did you go about fixing them? thanks

go to the mixer settings and one of the sliders. the one
beside the wave slider to the right and slide it down to about 40% and try it, while playing if static still present
slide it down more while the track is playing, i had the same prob wwith li've 24bit 7. and this cured it for me.

There are several choices if it comes to Audigy (emu0kx) drivers;
First you can use the last official Creative Labs' driver for the Audigy series which you can download on the official driver download site here at Creative Labs' site, but you will loose a lot of apps/softwares, but it should work;
The second one would be the mentioned Daniel_K's driverpack 3.8 for the Audigy series which works pretty good, although I dislike the individual installers/uninstallers for each applications which makes uninstallation of the driver very annoying.
The third one would be the Project KX driver which is very light in size but very powerful, especially for recording and other music related purposes. There's a learning curve since it really looks different (interfaces for example), but once you have found out how the KX driver works you will be happy you own an genuine Audigy emu0kx soundcard.

I'm am getting sound out of my card.
When I right click on the "speaker" icon in the task bar I see the following list of 5 options
Volume Mixer
Playback Devices
Recording Devices
Sounds
Volume Control Options
However when I click on "playback devices", "Recording Devices" and "sounds" nothing comes up.
What I did do is completely uninstall all traces of any installed Creative software and in the device manager did an uninstall for the SB Xtreme Audio Card.
My recording device is the integrated microphone in the Logitech Quickcam/IM that I have installed. If I go to accessories and click on "sound recorder" it doesn't start up either.
The other issue that I see is that when I go into Control Panel and click on Sounds, nothing happens.
Something is definitely going on but I can't seem to track down the cause.

Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy card on your system

I tried to install the Audigy software and drivers from the original product CD but Setup was unable to find Augigy hardware and halted the installation!
"Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster card on your system. Please ensure that your Sound Blaster hardware is properly installed before running this Setup program"
By the way. Manually the sound drivers can be installed working only front speakers of the 5. Creative system
I tried a clean installation of Windows XP and Windows 2000 PRO (reformatted the hard dri've) but Audigy install CD still could not find Audigy hardware.
I've changed the card to a different PCI slot with the same results!!! Damaged?
What is happening? I need a solution!! Many users have this problem to with other Sound Blaster cards and models...

Yes, indeed, that is my theory as well. After much ****hing and on-line research, it seems that this problem has been around since 2002. From Creative Labs point of view, it appears they view this as "pilot error" -- the user has installed the card in a system that is not fully compliant with the latest standards -- specifically Microsofts ACPI (configuration and power management). A wide variety of configurations and/or actions seem to cause the PCI subsystem ID in the Audigy EEPROM to be erroneously overwritten -- including certain older motherboards, certain older PCI cards, and perhaps other actions.
Once the subsystem ID in the EEPROM is overwritten and has garbage information, many or all of the Creative applications cease working and various sound problems can arise. Attempts to reinstall the driver or update to the latest driver consistently fail becuase of the dreaded "Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy card in your system..." error message.
There appear to be four fixes:
) Get a replacement Audigy card from Creative, but only after you perform their prescribed troubleshooting steps to prove that the card is indeed the source of the problem. Apparently, the steps include installing the card in another PC. Apparently, Creative in Europe is more willing to replace your card than Creative in the US. It's up to Creative Labs whether or not they issue you an RMA ("Return Material Authorization").
However, this fix will fail if the root causes of the EEPROM error are not corrected. Apparently, Creative Tech Support isn't always a foolproof source of guidance, so the burden is on you. The root cause MUST be corrected before the new card is installed, or the same problem will happen all over again. Eliminating the root cause may involve replacing your motherboard, replacing other PCI cards, or manual configuration (disabling ACPI).
2) Reprogramming the EEPROM. This is for advanced PC owners only, because it involves desoldering the EEPROM, programming it, and resoldering (and even lifting some pins to prevent reprogramming). There are instructions on how to do this posted in the German Creative Labs discussion board, by a Russian (!). I have links for those who are interested.
3) Removing the Creative drivers and software (using Clean Sweep procedures and third party utilities), updating again using Windows XP SP2, then physically moving the card to different PCI slots (multiple times if necessary), until ACPI Bios writes the proper information into the EEPROM. You can then reload the drivers.
Again, the root causes of the problem must be removed or your fix will only be temporary (a day or two). This solution also seems to be very dependent on the specifics of your system (motherboard, PCI cards, etc.).
4) Some people have had success in by-passing the step in the driver installation process where they check for the Audigy card subsystem ID, using a utility called CTZAPxx on the installation CD. Then then manually install each of the applications they need to use.
5) Use the open source driver from the kX Project (http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/index.php). This driver (and associated utilities) does not depend on the detailed configuration of the card (i.e. they don't check subsystem ID) and appear to work fine even with cards with corrupted EEPROM.
This driver is aimed primarily at computer music applications, and opens up the on-card signal processing capabilities. The downside is that the Audigy 2 ZS does not have all of it's capabilities supported yet (e.g. Dolby Digital decoding, S/PIF passthrough, possibly some game sound features, THX, 24-bit recording, support for Hyperthreading CPUs, etc.). But scanning over the discussion boards, the user community seems to be MUCH happier with the performance and support associated with these drivers than with Creative's.
This is the direction I'm going. I'm not a big gamer and I don't really care about the latest in home theater audio performance. Basic 5. surround sound is all I care about, and I'm much more interested in computer music capabilities.
I have also lost faith in Creative Labs as a vendor to provide the support I want and need going forward. Just imagine if the Creative Labs were running the Space Shuttle program :smileysurprised:.

Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Microphone H

Ok, I just bought a brand new Microphone, a Sennhesier pc-50 and a brand new sound blaster audigy 2 ZS. When i go to test my mic in a team-speak server of mine, the green button wont light up at all (meaning it wont work). The odd thing is, people in team-speak hear key clicks, my msn beeps, and music that i play, but not my voice. I've tried to switch the wires around while recording myself but it still wont work. I also looked to see if i placed my head phones in the right slot, and the mic in the right slot and it still wont work. The headphones are brand new, and work on another computer. Its just not working on this one. Please help

Whether or not they are looking into this or otherwise. No one has had the problem solved.. and if someone has and reads this .. LET US KNOW. I'm considering buying a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum (with front panel) off ebay, but first I'd like to know if certain features will be compatible with my system. I'm running Vista Home Basic 64bit (hardware is an Asus P5Q-E, Q6600, 2GB of RAM, ATI Radeon HD4850, etc). I'll be using this card for my PC's 5. surround sound system (using the stereo outputs), and more importantly, recording some music. I want to achieve this by using the optical S/PDIF port, as my bass guitar effects board has an S/PDIF output and I've got an S/PDIF cable. I'd also like to use the Line In and Mic inputs. The driver before the latest one for this card said that there was no S/PDIF passthrough for Vista. Has the latest driver got everything I need fixed, so I can just plug it in, install the drivers and then be happily recording through these three inputs?

I am brand new to this message system but I am so desperate for help I thought I would try it. After reading lots of comments I find that my problem may be more the rule than the exception. I have an Audigy @ Platinum card and all I ever get from it is crackling and popping. I have been around and around with Creative support but nothing they tell me results in a fix. I am so disgusted at this point that I am ready to just trash the whole thing. I have gone through the BIOS and checked so many settings its a shame. Still crackling and popping. I NEED SPECIFIC ANSWERS FROM SOMEBODY...not just the generic flip the wingle wangle to port xyz and move this to that. here has got to be an answer to this maddening problem. The other thing is that now I can't get my MIDI keyboard to play back. I must have turned something off in the set up process but now I have no idea what to do.
If anyone has any solid answers for me PLEASE come forward with them before I kill someone!

Microphone Issue - Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Audio C

Hey there, sorry to post but I've got a little issue which I'm sure is me being stupid but its racking my head so here it comes. I have recently started using talk programs such as vent, skype blah blah to speak to people back home and since moving abroad I have found that now I need the mic to contact these people (which it used to fine before I arri'ved on foreign soil). On clicking on volume control and advance or properties I have nothing in recording for mic and this is where im lost. If I enable the mic on any of the programs people are hearing whatever happens to be coming out of the computer speaks such as games or a movie etc. i've just tried a full removal and reinstallation of the sound drivers for the model in my comp (Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Audio Card).
All my mates are saying surely you cant lose mic from the volume control but yet its gone and I have no idea how to reactivate it. People seemt o think the card is buggered but it seems fine with everything else I fire out.
Any help on how stupid I'm being would be great.
