  • Creative Sound Blaster Audigy Issues

$C? When playing music on my computer the sound skip's, stutters and pauses. I have these symptoms when playing aCD as well as MP3 files . I tried different players but all have the same result. I thought it was my Anti Virus, butwhen disabled it symptoms still occur. Onboard sound works perfectly. Sound card has worked fine the past threeyears until I re-installed windows recently. I have updated all drivers including Chipset and Sound card. Thinkingit may be an IRQ issue but I do not know where to begin. Is it just a bad sound card please help!

Oh my sweet Jesus Creative, what are you doing?!
This is just funny - I can't play MP3's in 5. mode! LOL!? You 'aving a bath!
On top of that you've rendered DDL useless because my spdif output doesn't appear in the drop down box.
Interestingly though I can MP3 in 5. fine through VLC player.
Have you added some kind of hardware MP3 decoding or something?
You know if you're trying to keep us with you, or encourage us to upgrade, you're going about it a very odd way.

Even just a little something like properly working CMSS 3D for headphones would be nice (which I believe is an X-Fi feature), or the ability to record 5. in WaveStudio. However I get the feeling that it would only cause more problems!? lol. http://forums.creative.com/i/smilies/6x6_smiley-wink.gif" title="Smiley Wink" alt="[/img]

  • Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE problems

Alright first of all I am new to Linux in general.
I have two soundcards in my computer. One is an onboard card (Intel) that is faulty and doesn't work; another is a Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE which does work.
My problem, of course, is getting the latter to work.
So I realize this is nothing new, searching the forums and reading ALSA's wiki. However there seems to be some issues with making this work on ALSA, so is there a way to configure this with OSS?
"lspci | grep audio" returns both soundcards:
00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller: Intel Corporation 82801EB/ER (ICH5/ICH5R) AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02)
01:00.0 Multimedia audio controller: Creative Labs CA0106 Soundblaster
    "ossdetect -v" returns:
Detected Sound Blaster Audigy LS / Live7.1
    Detected Intel AC97 (ICH5)
USB support available in the system, adding USB driver
Detected Generic USB audio/MIDI device (BETA)
I use "soundoff" and "soundon", then "osstest":
    Sound subsystem and version: OSS 4.1 (b 1052/200903241101) (0x00040100)

Basically it seems like it detects the crappy onboard sound (which is unusable, I stress) and not my soundcard. I really don't know how to fix/configure this and sound is really important to me if I'll be using Arch.
Thanks for any help offered, if more information about something is needed I'll be more than happy to oblige.

I would start by disabling the on board sound in your BIOS if you are not going to use it.  As a novice user much of the documentation kind of covers the simpler case and this might help you navigate them better.
Keep in mind the Audigy SE is not a real Audigy (like Audigy 2 which has very good linux support).  If you are just looking for straightforward playback you should have no trouble, but you will not get hardware mixing with SE IIRC.

  • Sound blast audigy

i bought my pc a while ago was running fine, used the sound plug that i orginally saw and that worked but i noticed 4 other though, they for onboard i was away at uni'versity for most part of this computer life so far got back from uni'versity been playing fine but was wonder why i saw a soundMAX thing on my computer was like that for onboard soundcards.
so take a nosie to my shock i have been using onboard not my sound card, now i though hey ill see if i can get it to work, but i dont have the CD and when i download drivers it says cant find any device for this to install.
exact model is a audigy SE SB0570, took a while to find driver got them from here only found 2 but only download one process of doing other, i have already turned off my onboard and moved the card window noticed it was new device but cant find driver for it.
wondering if anyone has any clue or tips to get this to work or am i better off just getting a new card for cheap that will have all the stuff to work. i have to say my onboard sound seem fairly good (has troubles sometimes).

I have a Sound Blast Audigy that is getting an IRQ of 8 while my GPU (Nvidia 6800 Ultra) is taking the same. I have problems from time to time with blue screens with the error being IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and in my research determined it is because the two cannot share IRQ 8 or for that matter Creative cannot play nicely with any other IRQ shared item. SO how can I get my machine to change the IRQ? I cannot do it in Windows because it is all grayed out in the resources tab of Device Manager properties. I am not sure how to do it in my Bios (AwardBIOS from Phoenix). Anyone have any ideas?
You should not have sound card and video card sharing irq as that can cause serious problem. They both need individual irq. As mention earlier by other, you can try changing pci slot as far away from video card as possible. Change HAL to Advanced Configuration and Power Interface (ACPI) PC

Also, you can turn the MPU-40 (onboard MIDI/Game port) if you dont need it.

    HI!
I encounter Installation problems with that file:

    Thanks!

Yes it is called trying to install the wrong driver for your card. Will work much better if you try installing the correct one,
    SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000.exe
Also helps if you click on the "Show Details" link on the download page, then you would see that the one you tried to install doesn't support your card,
    Requirements:
Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows Vista 32-bit, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 or Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004
Sound Blaster Audigy Value/SE/LS, or Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit audio devices
whereas the correct driver shows the following,
This download supports the following audio devices only:

First thing to do: haveyour systemchecked out, if windows says the hardware is failing there may really be something wrong with it.
If the SB card works in an XP machine there may be a problem in the the PCI slot or controller on the motherboard, either way have a tech shop look at it. If thehardware allchecks out: before putting the card back in completely delete the old driver and software, download the new one without installing it, then put the card in and windows should try to auto-install with the new driver.P.S. the platinum version is the one with thecontrol panel that slots into a dri've bay, if you have one of those, it's a platinum, if not, it's a regulHi all, how are you
I have a Sony VAIO VGN-SZ430N/B notebook, and I'm trying to install Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook on it (Unfortunately, the notebook came with windows vista business from factory).
This notebook has a Texas Instruments PCMCIA controller.
Under "Device Manager" the PCMCIA controller is described as "Texas
Instruments PCI-8x2/7x2/6x2 CardBus Controller", but on Sony's
webpage the driver that seems to be related to it is "Texas
Instruments PCI74 Integrated FlashMedia Controller Driver".
It is kind of all in one solution from Texas Instruments (PCMCIA
controller, Memory Card reader, and Firewire controller).
Please, may someone help me to answer the questions bellow
1)Are there any kind of compatibility problem between this notebook PCMCIA controller (described above), and Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook
2)I've already brought this notebook to Sony's support service, so they could verify if there is any kind of hardware problem with the notebook. Sony's technician wasn't able to find any hardware problems on it, but I'm experiencing the problem described below:
2.)Every time that I plug this sound card on my notebook, and I try to install Creative's latest windows Vista drivers(Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series Vista Driver 2.2.0002), thus It leads me to a Blue Screen during the driver installation process. Please, Does somebody know what could be this problem root causeIt is very weird, even if i try to install this sound card on clean windows vista install, then it leads me to blue screen. Besides, I have another PCMCIA card from another manufacturer, and I was able to install its windows vista drivers with no problem.(It sounds that Creative labs' vista drivers is the problem root cause as I've tested this sound card on a different notebook with windows xp and It worked fine).
3)Does anyone know if creative is planning to release a windows vista driver that allows the users to use all of this sound card featuresSo far the latest driver available doesn't support even DVD-Audio. Have creative labs discontinued this product
I appreciate any help you can give me,
    thanks in advance,
    Rogerr ZS.

The best advice I can give is to fully remove ALL Creative software. We've compiled a list of entries that will cause problems here. It's very important before installing newer files.http://nomoregoatsoup.wordpress.com/...tall-problems/Then install some better drivers and see if that cures your issues. The 2.2.0002 drivers are really, really awful, 99% of people I've spoken to had problems with them. I personally like 2.5.0002 Hope this helps.

Hi,? I have the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro and my Ad_Link cable has been damaged. I have contacted every on line auction house and everyone in and out of the United States and no one has this cable available. What I am looking for now is one of 2 things;? the specs of this cable (which is not listed in any of the documentation that came with the product, nor is it on the web-site, nor does Customer Support seem to have this information), or a comparable cable that will work in it's place.
Thanks for any help that anyone can offer.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy with 5.1 Speakers prob

I have 5. speakers with a sound blaster audigy sound card. I've installed all the drivers and additional programs but it looks like my 2 rear speakers are not working. I thought maybe it was some kind of speaker problem but when i switched the 2 rear with the 2 front then the rear worked but front didn't. In the surround mixer i tested the 5. and here are the results:
    - Front Left (Sound: OK, Speaker: OK)
    - Center (Sound: NO SOUND)
    - Front Right (Sound: OK, Speaker: OK)
    - Rear Left (Sound: OK, Speaker: NO - The sound comes from the center speaker)
    - Rear Right (Sound NO - It sounds very strange... bearly you can understand the words, Speaker: NO - The sound comes from the center speaker)
The wired are set correctly i checked it and I dont know what it might be wrong. Drivers are ok and everything are installed. Help please.

"I thought maybe it was some kind of speaker problem but when i switched the 2 rear with the 2 front then the rear worked but front didn't."
Does this not indicate two of the speakers are not physically working? Or have a mis-interpreted?

I am getting the exact same problem. Just downloaded the "Creative Sound Blaster Audigy unified series Beta driver with OpenAL support 2.08.0002" for my soundcard which is an Audigy 2 OEM (Model No. SB0240).
I am using WIndows Media Center Edition 2005, but when I try to install the beta drivers, I get the following error message:
"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Please ensure that your product is properly installed before running this setup program
    Setup will exit."
My Device Manager shows Creative SB Audigy 2 (WDM) with driver version as follows:
    Driver Provider: Creative
    Driver Date: 23/06/2004
    Driver Version: 5.2..444
I am currently hearing sound fine (so the soundcard is installed correctly), but the sound keeps cutting out from games that use OpenAL.
Anyone else getting this problem? How did you fix it's

The color on the Onkyo Recei'ver end are Center - Green , Surround(rear) - Blue , Front - White
The color on the Creative Card end are Center- Orange , rear - Black , Front - Green
There is color difference between these two ends . Is it advisable to connect these two jacks ?
Please recommend the suitable cable type and name for this connection

    Hi
Colours may vary --> just connect by the instructions from both manuals.
    There are good explanations for
    - Stereo and 4-Pole Jack Diagrams
    - Connecting a multichannel home theater receiver
    - cabletypes needed on connections
    on User's Guide.
NOTE: This User's Guide can be found on your driver CD too.
Also, here is the Onkyo HT-S580 manual.

  • Bug in Sound Blaster Audigy 2

    Hi,
I'm experiencing something that is annoying. I noticed it long ago and it continues happening even with all the updates installed:
    Windows XP SP2
    DirectX 9.0c
    Drivers:
Control Panel, Creative SB Audigy 2 NX, shows 2004/04/9 for the windows driver.
    Firmware: ..0509
I installed the latest drivers found HERE (http://es.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp)
called "Creative USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX update .00.000" (4 Feb 2005)
    EAX Console version: 2.07.0
    What is the problem?
Well... I have 5. soundsystem, and I choose "Surround Stereo" in the CMSS 3D option.
Each time I shut down the sound card PRESSING THE BUTTON or either turn of the system, I have to re-click this option button.
This is, the system saves the settings correctly, and if I open the EAX Advanced HD again, I find it selected, but when I re-click it again, then the sound gets surround.
Hope it gets fixed, as its a very annyoing thing.
    Thanks in advance,
PS: If this is not the place to put this, please tell me insted of simply ignoring it.

There IS a problem with this. I have experienced it in two different configurations, and yes, I have everything updated. As you can see I STILL have the problem... (I don't remember when I posted the first post). I also contacted Creative Support, and although it being fast, they did not test it. I simply got answers once and again about unsinstalling the drivers and some other things on my computer and install again.
I don't know how to report this to a developer or someone who can take some minutes to test it and say "hey yes... it's true!".
The problem with this is that you DON'T notice it at all.. you hear 5., all seems OK, untill you re-click again the "surround stereo" option.. it's in that moment when you notice that the volume and the quality increases... I guess people is using their 5. like in surround but not at 00% quality.
Sad, but it's the way it is I guess...
Now this is my day by day... Plug the NX, open EAX, select surround... and if I previously used my headphones (on the speakers) I have ALSO to switch from 2 speakers to 5. and then EAX and surround (although it's always clicked...)
I'm not asking for help, or suggestions. I just want someone who cares at Creative to know about this... Well of course, if someone has a suggestion or can help in a way that can make me forget about opening EAX console... it's welcome.
Thanks again for reading or for any help.
    Regards.
PS: I'm thinking on replying to creative again, but I guess I will get the same answer...

I was wondering if anyone could provide me with such spec sheet so that I can try to conect my frontal Intel board plugs for headphone and microphone (would like to use my headset.)
There are a lot of pins on the card and well only about 8 in the conector for the front plugs. So if any dev from the forum is reading this I would greatly apreciate it if I could use my front Intel sound plugs on this old model card.
