Sound Blaster Audigy Fx control panel app won't run

Just installed a new Audigy Fx PCI card into my Windows 7 (64 bit) system and I have sound however I can't run the control panel app from Sound Blaster. When I run it the system becomes extremely slow and unresponsive, even the mouse is hard to move and the app never opens an interface, I have to kill it with task manager. I have uninstalled all other audio interfaces that I can find, and disabled a few ones, and disbaled in BIOS the on board audio.
In Device Manager I see the following audio devices
Sound Blaster Audigy Fx
Sound Blaster Audio Controller
ATI High Definition Audio Device (X) - I disabled this, I believe this is part of my display card
Why are there 2 sound blaster drivers ? If I disable one both are removed from the list.
Does anybody have any ideas on what to try next ?
thanks,

Same problem here too, open the control panel, windows 7 32 bit and I have the ALPHA headset. Opened the control panel with all the "nifty features" and bam, freezes every time. I'd rather not be told to go seek support by writing out a nice application since the problem is obviously affecting many of us, more to the matter, I'd like to know if there is any fix or workaround at the moment? If not, I'd like to know if there's going to be a software update for it perhaps?
I'm pretty sure we'd all like answers soon please. Once again, do not direct me to the support tab, it's obviously been submitted a few times now and still nothing has been said about it, we need solid information and it is the one thing wrong with this headset.
Thanks.

  • Sound Blaster MP3+ causes Control Panel er

    Hi,
I just installed the drivers from the installation CD and everything seems to be working properly. However, whenever I open Control Panel, I get this error message:
"To enable the advanced sound effect for gaming, please make sure the setting of Hardware Acceleration is "full". The directory is as below: Control Panel -> Multimedia(Win98) / Sound & Multimedia(Win200, Me)/Sound & Audio Device (WinXP) -> Audio -> Playback/Advance...-> Performance -> Hardware Acceleration"
It has only an "OK" button which, when I click it, brings up the error again. This happens 3 or 4 times in a row, and then finally the Control Panel appears.
I did not have this problem before installing Service Pack 2 for Windows XP. I thought maybe installing SP 2 was the cause of the problem. However, I just reformatted my hard-dri've and installed SP 2 BEFORE installing Sound Blaster MP3+. The problem appears again. Is there a known compatibility issue? What might be the cause of this error?
Also, I was just wondering: What exactly is Sound Blaster MP3+? Is it an actual sound card? Or is it just a sound processing device. I am running it on a laptop which has an integrated sound card. Should I have disabled the integrated sound card before installing MP3+? Could there be a conflict there?
    Thanks.
    - Mark

Sorry, I forgot to mention that yes, I checked the Hardware Acceleration settings and they are already set to "full".

  • Java Control Panel applet won't run

I am running Windows 2000 Server and I need to import a certificate into the certificate database. Both the jpicpl32.cpl and jpicpl32.exe fail to run. When I try to execute either of them they launch an instance of javaw.exe (confirmed in the task manager) but the interface never comes up. Java Web Start misbehaves in the same way.
I am using JRE 1.4.2_04 and I have uninstalled and reinstalled it without solving the problem. One possible issue is that the person who did the initial install of the JRE moved the directory to a different drive after the installation was complete. When I discovered this I edited the windows registry and changed all of the pointers to the new location. That did not help and that is when I uninstalled and reinstalled the JRE.
I have found several messages in this forum indicating similar problems with prior versions of the JRE but none of them had any replies (except for some who said they were having the same problem). I have also searched the web but all that I can find is information on how to troubleshoot java applications, not the JRE itself.

I have been working on a project rolling out J2RE1.4.1_02 onto approximately 100 pc's. Half of them are Windows 2000 laptops and the other half use Windows XP sp1 (a few with SP2) Desktops varying in spec. To date I have yet to have this issue on the Windows 2000 laptops. Of the 50 XP machines, so far I have encountered this problem on 20 of them.
I used almost every method described in the forums as well as loads of other options to resolve the hanging of javaw.exe. We havent rolled out the application that requires this JRE version yet and I am only trying to run the Java contol panel to change user settings.
At first I thought it was conflicting software, so I uninstalled package by package. Halfway through, the console worked, but on reboot, did not work again. I eventually figured out that once you install JRE and it does not work, just log off and then on again without rebooting and it starts to work. We cannot give this as a solution to our users. I also edited the registry removing all refrences to any other java files after uninstalling all java related apps. Re-installing after this did not fix it either. I tried to avoid using Javaw.exe by chaning the path in the registry to java.exe, but this did not work either.
Sometimes I could get Java Web Start working, but not the control panel, then when i could get the control panel working, java web start wouldnt work. These 20 machines were part of our original image of XP that was rolled out. The other 30 machines are a slightly newer build but have the same applications. Do you think it could be a way the group policies are applied? They are local policies as we are still building our 2003 servers and I set everything to 'not configured' but it still did not change anything. If I rebuild the image and install all their apps, it works fine. But i would like to avoid rebuilding 20 PC's. I have already rebuilt 10 of them and hate using that as a solution. The group policy settings were initially created by one team and then later a second team created our new image that we use. So it may be just a configuration that the first team have implemented or locked down that the second team did not.
What is strange is that it doesnt run on first boot up, but does run after logging off and on again. Somebody in one of the other forums mentioned that it may have something to do with explorer.exe, but i doubt it. I am exasperated and would appreciate any ideas I have not tried.
    Thanks guys,
    Kerri

  • Sound blaster Audigy Remote Control / Remote Center in Windows 7

    @Hey Folks,
I have an Audigy Platinum with a remote control and version .46 of the Remote Center software.
Remote center has extremely limited functioning under windows 7 - I can eject the CD player, turn on/off clock
display, everything else either displays N/A in the overlay or gets no response (hitting the remote 'start' button for instance).
Is there a newer version of Remote Center that may have more functionality in Windows 7? I know of commercial software but I'd prefer a solution via creative labs or free and open source software if available. I have searched for newer versions of Remote Center but seem to be stuck with the version that came on my CD. Any suggestions?
    thanks,
    jd

zac,You need to get the Vista apps for your X-fi. Either pull the ISO files off torrent or one of the other sites or pay the $7.00 shipping fee for the CD from Creative. Install the entertainment center off the CD and you'll have remote control functionality. Steve

The front I/0 panel on Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum ZS not found by Creative Volume Control Application. Under recording sources, I can only choose from "What you hear", MIDI Synth, S/PDIF-In, CD Digital, Analog Mix (Line/CD/Aux/TAD/PC), Microphone and Wave. The option to record from anything on the front panel, (Aux-in 2, Line-in/Mic-in 2) have disappeared. I have tried re-installing the software from scratch, just installing Creative Update components and even formatting the hard-dri've and re-loading Windows but it still doesn't work!!?Does anybody have any helpful suggestions on this frustrating matter?

If you're using a dynamic microphone, the Audigy 2 ZS dri've bay has a jumper which you can change for it to support dynamic microphones instead of electret microphones. However once this is done you won't be able to use electret mics until you've changed the jumper setting back.

  • Creative Sound Blaster Audigy NX won't register as a USB device!

@Creative Sound Blaster Audigy NX won't register as a USB device!H I just moved my computer to another location across the room.
I didn't drop or beat or throw anything. I picked things up, moved them, and set them down carefully. I didn't abuse anything at all.
Now, my Sound Blaster Audigy NX doesn't work anymore.
I plug it into my USB hub, nothing. I plug it into a USB port in my laptop, and nothing, either. None of the USB ports in the hub or the laptop work, even after restarting. The light on the hub doesn't even light up to detect the device at all. I can't turn it on. It doesn't seem to matter if my speakers are actually on or off, or whether I have sound playing on the computer or not.
    I've restarted countless times, too.
It worked before I moved it, and now, my expensi've sound card doesn't work. What's up, now?

    joaolfb,
Audigy 2 NX will need to be connected with the power adaptor inorder to run. USB will not be enough to sustain the power consumption of the sound card.

  • Audigy Sound Blaster and Remotely controlled speake

I own Sound Blaster Audigy card and I would like to purchase set of Dolby surround speakers that would work flawlessly with that card. I am thinking to buy Creative speakers since they also make this card, but I need a set that could be remotely controlled, either through wire or wirelessly. Anyone out there with this older model of Audigy that has surround speakers connected to it which can be remotely controlled? Any suggestions? I wrote an email with my question to Creative sales, but nobody responded yet.
    Thank you,

If it is the very first Audigy model (Audigy ) then it a 5. soundcard. So any 5. speaker system or below would work nati'vely with your soundcard. If you choose a 6. or 7. system they usually have an upmix function to make 5. sounds play over all satellites.
Also, most speaker sets (regardless of manufacturer) uses some kind of remote control (either through cable or IR).
Your question is extremely hard to answer if you are looking for tips on which speaker set to buy, but easy to answer if we take the question "Anyone out there with this older model of Audigy that has surround speakers connected to it which can be remotely controlled?" at face value as everyone with any kind of speakers should have some kind of control pod or IR remote control to their speakers.
Edit: I will try to answer your question: you can choose whatever speaker set you want as I think it is safe to say they all got either a cable remote control or an IR remote. The question then becomes what exactly you are looking for and in what price range.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 not fo

    Hey all,
I recently downloaded Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 and Audigy2 ZS Driver Update .84.55, but when I try to install it I recieve an error message stating:
"Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy 2 on your system.
Please ensure that your Sound Blaster hardware is properly installed before running this setup program.
    Setup will now exit."
In Device Manager, the device is referred to as a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 (WDM). It says the driver date is 0/2/2003 and the version is 5.2.5.44.
I'm not really sure what the problem is, and I'm afraid that if I uninstall the current driver I won't be able to find one that works anymore and I'll be out of luck.
    Any help is appreciated,
    --Delph

I find myself in the same boat!
Let's just *think* about this one minute.
If Windoze can "see" the card and install "generic" drivers for it AND it works, then the card, the installation, or anything else is not at fault (hardware wise).
It simply becomes a "problem" with the crappy Creative install software.
Oh, and don't believe that it makes one bit of difference OEM, or retail.
    I have:
OEM and RETAIL Li've 5. cards doing the SAME thing (driver disks/driver downloads)
OEM and RETAIL Audigy2 cards doing the SAME thing (driver disks/driver downloads)
The ONLY thing in common is Windoze XP SP2 with all the patches, oh, and that damm clean boot nonsense makes no difference, other that wasting time.
It ia absolutely clear to me why everybody is searching for an alternati've to this BS.
Ok so here we are, the card detects, windoze installs a generic Audigy driver, and your audio works, but you have NO features you paid for.
    The Creative installer appears broken/incompatable.
*the card MUST be detected by windoze, you MUST have a driver CD*
If the two things above are true then:
Insert your CD, it is going to launch the Creative BS, close it at the first opportunity.
    Start>My computer
You can see the CD in your CD dri've (it's called "SB_Install", with a 'hokey' logo of an "A" in it)
Right click on it, choosing "open" from the drop down box, now you have a listing of the stuff on the CD.
The 'stuff' you (might) want is in the "audio" folder, open it.
The folders revealed are fairly self explainatory, I myself would manually install the driver first through Start>control panel>Performance and maintence>System>Hardware device mgr.>Expanding my "sound video and game controllers" (by clicking on it), double click on "SB Audigy" choosing the driver tab and updating the driver from the CD (in the 'audio' under drivers that we explored earlier (you will have to manually steer the driver update to that location).
Now with that done you can go back to your CD in the "audio" folder and add the features you want.
Now, if you do not have a Creative Audigy install CD you are going to have to get one (you should have gotten one with your computer/Audigy card) try to beg, borrow, or steal one. If you strike out I will send you one (a copy) or make it availaible as a bittorrent.
In fact, if you take the complete Beta driver download (SBA2-PCDrvBeta_LB_2_08_0002) and open it up with WinRAR you can get the most recent drivers there in a folder called, strangely enough, drivers, and install as above, again provided that Windoze 'sees' your Audigy (or Li've) card. BTW the newest drivers are dated: 29/08/2005
If Windoze does not "see" your card NONE of this will apply to you, being another 'issue'. If you care to leave the specifics of THAT situation I will try to help, but you *must* remember, some stuff simply will not work with other stuff. Creative soundcards DO NOT LIKE IRQ sharing and DO NOT LIKE being placed in a VIA chipset board (pre 600 series).
Take care ALL!Message Edited by mrfixitx00 on 0-07-2005 07:55 PM

Yes it is called trying to install the wrong driver for your card. Will work much better if you try installing the correct one,
    SBAX_PCDRV_LB_2_8_000.exe
Also helps if you click on the "Show Details" link on the download page, then you would see that the one you tried to install doesn't support your card,
    Requirements:
Microsoft Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows Vista 32-bit, Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, Windows XP Service Pack 2, Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 or Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004
Sound Blaster Audigy Value/SE/LS, or Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit audio devices
whereas the correct driver shows the following,
This download supports the following audio devices only:
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy including Platinum and Platinum eX series
Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 including Platinum, Platinum eX, and Value series

  • Bug in Sound Blaster Audigy 2

    Hi,
I'm experiencing something that is annoying. I noticed it long ago and it continues happening even with all the updates installed:
    Windows XP SP2
    DirectX 9.0c
    Drivers:
Control Panel, Creative SB Audigy 2 NX, shows 2004/04/9 for the windows driver.
    Firmware: ..0509
I installed the latest drivers found HERE (http://es.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download.asp)
called "Creative USB Sound Blaster Audigy 2 NX update .00.000" (4 Feb 2005)
    EAX Console version: 2.07.0
    What is the problem?
Well... I have 5. soundsystem, and I choose "Surround Stereo" in the CMSS 3D option.
Each time I shut down the sound card PRESSING THE BUTTON or either turn of the system, I have to re-click this option button.
This is, the system saves the settings correctly, and if I open the EAX Advanced HD again, I find it selected, but when I re-click it again, then the sound gets surround.
Hope it gets fixed, as its a very annyoing thing.
    Thanks in advance,
PS: If this is not the place to put this, please tell me insted of simply ignoring it.

There IS a problem with this. I have experienced it in two different configurations, and yes, I have everything updated. As you can see I STILL have the problem... (I don't remember when I posted the first post). I also contacted Creative Support, and although it being fast, they did not test it. I simply got answers once and again about unsinstalling the drivers and some other things on my computer and install again.
I don't know how to report this to a developer or someone who can take some minutes to test it and say "hey yes... it's true!".
The problem with this is that you DON'T notice it at all.. you hear 5., all seems OK, untill you re-click again the "surround stereo" option.. it's in that moment when you notice that the volume and the quality increases... I guess people is using their 5. like in surround but not at 00% quality.
Sad, but it's the way it is I guess...
Now this is my day by day... Plug the NX, open EAX, select surround... and if I previously used my headphones (on the speakers) I have ALSO to switch from 2 speakers to 5. and then EAX and surround (although it's always clicked...)
I'm not asking for help, or suggestions. I just want someone who cares at Creative to know about this... Well of course, if someone has a suggestion or can help in a way that can make me forget about opening EAX console... it's welcome.
Thanks again for reading or for any help.
    Regards.
PS: I'm thinking on replying to creative again, but I guess I will get the same answer...

Re: Sound Blaster Xtreme Audio missing Stereo MixK I think I'm having a similar problem with my Windows 7 Professional system.
I'm am getting sound out of my card.
When I right click on the "speaker" icon in the task bar I see the following list of 5 options
    Volume Mixer
    Playback Devices
    Recording Devices
    Sounds
    Volume Control Options
However when I click on "playback devices", "Recording Devices" and "sounds" nothing comes up.
What I did do is completely uninstall all traces of any installed Creative software and in the device manager did an uninstall for the SB Xtreme Audio Card.
My recording device is the integrated microphone in the Logitech Quickcam/IM that I have installed. If I go to accessories and click on "sound recorder" it doesn't start up either.
The other issue that I see is that when I go into Control Panel and click on Sounds, nothing happens.
Something is definitely going on but I can't seem to track down the cause.

OK, so you don't understand my original post. I installed the card and software two days ago, 12/16/14. The problem was present at that time. Then today at 1:47pm, I installed the Windows update. The problem persists, that means I still have the problem. The problem exists BEFORE and AFTER Windows update. I did follow your suggestion and uninstall and re-install the Audigy FX software and STILL have the problem.

  • Set up from creative down load does not detect any sound blaster audigy mess

I have a sound blaster audigy with no installation cd. I installed the card to download the drivers. The detection software on the site said there was no creative product installed.
I downloaded the web update file and saved to my desk top. Ran the file after closinging all apps and got a message that there was no audigy detected. Reinstalled the card, same, did it again in another pci slot.
Tried finding a driver in xp, found one for soundblaster. No sound at all with this xp driver. I do not have intergrated sound on the abit k7rsa board. How do you install the driver if the set up program stops you because it does not see the device, and with no install cd? Thanks for any help.
    Tony

I have the same problem. About a year ago I threw out all my driver cd's because they were really piling up and i figured i'd never need them because I've been able to download all the driver's i've ever needed from company websites.
    NOT SO with Creative.
I have the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Platinum (the one with the ports for the front of the computer). I recently had to reinstall my OS. I got the soundcard to work, but all the optional components I had before (like the ability to use the remote control to control sound, and the EAX console etc) are gone. I tried to download these components from the website (it's really hard to tell which is which, so i downloaded them all). They will NOT install! I keep getting the error message "Setup did not detect required components, Setup will exit" on all the download software.
This is extremely frustrating because I'm unable to setup the speakers properly (windows speaker settings don't really work).
I did manage to do the automatic update thing, but it only updates the core drivers.
    PLEASE HELP!
I paid $200 bucks for this card (granted, that was a couple years ago), so I should be able to at least download the same software that came with the product!
Please have a professional (not an engineer without user interface experience) design the download area too...it is extremely difficult to understand what the individual components really do! At the very least, when you download them...they should work!
    Thanks.
