Sound Blaster Audigy2 NX Huge Prob

My Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 NX works well. At least to a point.
It works until I stop using something that's sound dri'ven for about 2 hours. And then it basically blacks out. It won't work. Computer recognizes it, but says "there is no playback device availiable." The only way to fix this is to reboot, then it works for until I don't use something sound dri'ven for two hours.
What's the problem?

Seems to have fixed the problem.
For those of you who are having similar problems, go to the automatic webUpdate, and download the updated drivers and firmware. I left it on all night, and 00% of the time, the speakers and sound device wouldn't work. It seems to have made it last night, so I assume the driver update has fixed the problem.

  • Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 64V (WDM) Prob

Hello,I have a Creative Sound Blaster AudioPCI 64V (WDM) card. I did something that affected the drivers. The sound has stopped working. When I try to use a sound application, (such as media player or sound recorder or anything), I get an error message saying the sound card is not installed. I have tried several times to reinstall it using Add New Hardware, but it still won't work. What do I need to do?Thanks.

What the card supports (on the outputs) won't change, this is also an older card. I'm not familiar with that particular C-Media chip, but if it's on a recent motherboard it may be newer than the CT480, which is an old card.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy SE Driver Prob

I have a problem with Sound Blaster Audigy SE,
Im using newest from creative download site SBA_PCDRV_LB__04_006.exe drivers.
After I turn on a game like ut2004, fear combat, even dxdiag (sound test) or pause sound in music/movie player system stops reacting or process "System" uses 95-00% of my CPU.
After few tests I discovered with help of KrView (kernel view soft) that p7filt.sys uses such big ammount of cpu If in Speaker Settings, Bass Redirection and Subwoofer Gain (+5) is turned on. (5. speakers)
I installed a bit diffrent version of drivers (from cd and even later I tested SBSE7_XP_Jul2005 additional driver). But then Subwoofer Gain option isnt working at all
its written Subwoofer Gain (+0) and with sub gain +0 sound quality very poor like in AC97 audio.
Ive also checked friends sound card on my pc and also i've tested exactly same thing on other computer.
I have xp sp2 with updates, newest bios, directX, etc etc...

OK..first of all the Audigy SE lacks any form of hardware acceleration, so turning on features like bass boosting/sound post-processing etc. will take away a lot of CPU time. The file you mentioned just acts as a software real-time filter, although it should not go up to the point of bringing a 2.4 Ghz Pentium 4 to its knees.
The sound quality will be altered even with every "DSP" effect (quoted because there's no actual hardware DSP, it's just emulated in software) set to 0, as long as the "DSP is considered acti've.
That's because the sound output is first converted from the time domain to the frequency domain (in poor words, the continuous sound wave you hear is broken down in many different frequencies like in those 80s ghettoblasters spectrum analyzers) because it's easier to amplify bass/treble that way, and then converted back to time domain (in even poorer words, a continuous sound wave you can hear/record/playback).
It's obvious that doing that thing in real time has a CPU cost, and even more obvious that the procedure is lossy and the input will not be the same as the output even with no effect applied, as long as the this double conversion takes place.
If you really need bass boost, turn any sound processing on the card OFF, and use speakers which have it. Also, if the CPU usage is abnormally high, try updated or a specific older version of the drivers that has more reasonable CPU usage/doesn't have that bug.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS Plat. Pro and Playstati

I wanna hook my Playstation2 up to my PC so I can take advantage of my 7. surround sound system. I am not real sure how to go about this. I can't find any audo jacks that the Playstation2 uses on the external box of my SB card.
    Any help is appriciated.

You must use the Optical output from the PS2.
Use an optical cable to hook up from the PS2 to the Optical input of the A2ZSPP Dri've.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 Recording Prob

I recently re-installed my audigy, and for some reason I cannot get any sound when I plug my guitar into the Line-In on the front. I check the recording/playback setting, and everything seems to be ok. I'm wondering if it might be a problem with the hardware. Any thoughts?

    Dee,
If the card came supplied with the PC, then you may need to contact Dell to get specific drivers or applications for it.
Is the card working correctly now? Is it listed in Device Manager, with no error messages? What did you use to reinstall, was it a CD, or a driver? If it was just a basic driver pack, then it's likely that doesn't include any extra applications.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy2

I've got a program that hooks up my musical keyboard to my computer, I can record with it and stuff like that. But every time I play it, for some reason it adds reverb to the notes (pitch changes slightly) I've checked my settings in the program and I don't understand whats wrong. This is a new soundcard after I got rid of one that worked for this program but didn't for games. I have a recorded song from the other card which sounded normal at the time, and I played it through this card and I get the same problem. Please help...

In your Start menu, program list, you should see an entry for Creative. Under that should be an entry for your Audigy 2 ZS. In that dropdown list you should find WaveStudio. (I'm assuming you have a retail Audigy 2 ZS) You should also see an entry for Creative, Mediasource. Under that you should find MediaSource player. At this point it would be diagnostic if either of these programs did or didn't give you the same reverb effects when playing the same files.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy 2 not fo

    Hey all,
I recently downloaded Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 and Audigy2 ZS Driver Update .84.55, but when I try to install it I recieve an error message stating:
"Setup could not detect any Sound Blaster Audigy 2 on your system.
Please ensure that your Sound Blaster hardware is properly installed before running this setup program.
    Setup will now exit."
In Device Manager, the device is referred to as a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 (WDM). It says the driver date is 0/2/2003 and the version is 5.2.5.44.
I'm not really sure what the problem is, and I'm afraid that if I uninstall the current driver I won't be able to find one that works anymore and I'll be out of luck.
    Any help is appreciated,
    --Delph

I find myself in the same boat!
Let's just *think* about this one minute.
If Windoze can "see" the card and install "generic" drivers for it AND it works, then the card, the installation, or anything else is not at fault (hardware wise).
It simply becomes a "problem" with the crappy Creative install software.
Oh, and don't believe that it makes one bit of difference OEM, or retail.
    I have:
OEM and RETAIL Li've 5. cards doing the SAME thing (driver disks/driver downloads)
OEM and RETAIL Audigy2 cards doing the SAME thing (driver disks/driver downloads)
The ONLY thing in common is Windoze XP SP2 with all the patches, oh, and that damm clean boot nonsense makes no difference, other that wasting time.
It ia absolutely clear to me why everybody is searching for an alternati've to this BS.
Ok so here we are, the card detects, windoze installs a generic Audigy driver, and your audio works, but you have NO features you paid for.
    The Creative installer appears broken/incompatable.
*the card MUST be detected by windoze, you MUST have a driver CD*
If the two things above are true then:
Insert your CD, it is going to launch the Creative BS, close it at the first opportunity.
    Start>My computer
You can see the CD in your CD dri've (it's called "SB_Install", with a 'hokey' logo of an "A" in it)
Right click on it, choosing "open" from the drop down box, now you have a listing of the stuff on the CD.
The 'stuff' you (might) want is in the "audio" folder, open it.
The folders revealed are fairly self explainatory, I myself would manually install the driver first through Start>control panel>Performance and maintence>System>Hardware device mgr.>Expanding my "sound video and game controllers" (by clicking on it), double click on "SB Audigy" choosing the driver tab and updating the driver from the CD (in the 'audio' under drivers that we explored earlier (you will have to manually steer the driver update to that location).
Now with that done you can go back to your CD in the "audio" folder and add the features you want.
Now, if you do not have a Creative Audigy install CD you are going to have to get one (you should have gotten one with your computer/Audigy card) try to beg, borrow, or steal one. If you strike out I will send you one (a copy) or make it availaible as a bittorrent.
In fact, if you take the complete Beta driver download (SBA2-PCDrvBeta_LB_2_08_0002) and open it up with WinRAR you can get the most recent drivers there in a folder called, strangely enough, drivers, and install as above, again provided that Windoze 'sees' your Audigy (or Li've) card. BTW the newest drivers are dated: 29/08/2005
If Windoze does not "see" your card NONE of this will apply to you, being another 'issue'. If you care to leave the specifics of THAT situation I will try to help, but you *must* remember, some stuff simply will not work with other stuff. Creative soundcards DO NOT LIKE IRQ sharing and DO NOT LIKE being placed in a VIA chipset board (pre 600 series).

  • Sound Blaster Li

    Hello all,
I have an old Card that came with a bay dri've with mic connections and midi connections. I recently bought a Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS card. I would like to connect the bay dri've to the Audigy2 card. Is this possible? I guess I could connected it and see what happens but I don't want to create any magic smoke from my PC. I would like to know if anyone has done this and how good or bad does it work?
    Thanks,

Answer to my own queston -
This is an oft asked question and I would suggest that in the future that you do a quick search of the forums before posting. In the end it saves you the time of waiting for someone to reply.
The answer is that no, the dri'ves are not compatible. The Li've! and Audigy will work together and the Audigy 2 and 2 ZS will work together. The Li've! Dri've and Audigy 2 card are not compatible.
