Sound Blaster Evo ZxR SBX being weird

Alright, so I got a Sound Blaster Evo ZxR recently, and I love it. My first copy from Amazon was defective, though (Bluetooth and TT buttons were broken) so I got another one. Anyway, I'm having a great time with it EXCEPT for the fact that whenever I get a Skype call, my SBX will instantly turn off and I will be unable to turn it back on (the light on the headset won't go on and audio quality will be horrible) and when I turn the headset on and off I can't get audio from anything except for the 7.1 test in the control panel. It's really annoying to have to restart my computer whenever I get a Skype call to get the high quality sound I paid for.

Hi erikrn,
I'm afraid the EVO ZxR is not designed for that purpose. However, you may explore software that controls from audio source and to achieve what you want.

  • Sound Blaster EVO Control Pannel do not recognize EVO ZxR correctly

    Hi,
I have a problem since some days and I don't understand why.
Before I begin, yes I did uninstall and re-install drivers/control panel.
So, normally the EVO Control panel would recognize my Headset EVO ZxR correctly and give me all the option linked to it, as Clear voice, SBX, if ANC is active of not, change the modes (game, music, film), etc...
This per USB and not Bluetooth by the way.
But I don't know why, since some days it will no more, and only give me few option in the control panel.
What I have now is only this :
(In this one I can't even test the sound if I select 7.1, but if tested from windows sound control pannel it works fine as 7.1)
and as you can see, it is up-to-date :
Not to mention that the Headset has the latest Firmware too.
So Any advice to find again this :
It was all working and at some point no more, and I don't know why.
    Again, re-installing did not help.
It is perfectly working via Bluetooth on my phone though.
    OS : Windows 8.1 Pro.
Any advice, idea would be much appreciated.
    Thank you.

If you have not updated your headset's firmware you may want to give it a try as well.
I can now confirm what the problem is. After reformatting my whole operating system I was indeed able to get the software to work properly again, however after a windows update the software will not work properly again. Confirmed same thing about the windows update on my other pc as well and the only way to get it to start working again to to do a system restore point before the last update.
I am sorry but this is unexceptionable! So I have to stay on an old version of windows in order to use this product...

  • Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer not being recogni

Hi, I own the Sound Blaster Audigy Gamer. It had been working fine before I needed to update the drivers. When I tried to update the drivers it said that no Audigy Card was being detected and that the Setup would close. The first person at Creative I called told me that all I needed to do was to move the sound card to a different slot. I did, but the problem still occured. The second person told me to do a clean-sweep of the card, as persay of SID72, a KB article. I did that, but also it had the same problem. The third time I called he told me that I should try it in another computer, and I do not have any at the moment. What am I to do? I have checked the IRQ, it has IRQ#5 all to itself. I will try to move the PCI slot again though. Windows asks me every time I boot that I need to install the drivers. Should I do that?
    -Thanks

  • Sound Blaster EVO Zx - Not recharging

When I bought my Sound Blaster Zx it starting to produce a loud whine in the audio while it was charging. Once charged the whine went away and I just made sure to keep it topped off.
Well recently the whine has been constant ... when I checked the application it showed the battery completely dead and charging. I turned off the headset an allowed it to charge (blinking red LED as normal) for 10 hours. When I plugged it back in to the PC it showed completely dead still and it started whining again.
I have only had this headset for a couple of months. I have made sure it is the latest firmware and application.

  • Sound Blaster Rage VoiceFX Test button not working

I purchased my creative sound blaster Tactic3D Rage headphones today and so far I am really happy with them. The only thing that bugs me is that the test button for VoiceFX in the control panel doesn't seem to work. I press it and talk through the mic, but nothing happens. I know the VoiceFX works because I tested it out through Skype test call. Only the test button in the control panel doesn't seem to work

  • Sound Blaster ZxR latency problems

I bought SB ZxR last week and I'm using it for gaming, recording and just rehearsing guitar playing (my preamp is connected to sound card AUX in). I'm having trouble getting the sound in sync with my playing. In fact it's pretty much impossible to play properly, because the sound is always some 20-30ms late. I understand that when I output to optical output, then there might be some delay, but the delay is there also when outputting to analog outputs (though not so bad, but makes playing impossible still). I've tried all the settings in ZxR control panel and I haven't found working combination. Seems like the card is doing some processing to incoming signal in all occasions. I'm really disappointed, since the sound quality is otherwise excellent. I haven't had this kind of problems with my previous sound cards (Terratec 6fire, X-fi Elite pro, Auzentech Prelude). Prelude created latency when enabling DD live or DTS encoding, but disabling those made latency almost zero.
Has anyone tried playing any instrument live with this card and maybe found a solution for these latency problems?

    Incorrect in my experience.
I've just installed a Sound Blaster Zx - purchased because it is supposed to have near zip latency.
and it was so - with 92000 sample rate and 192 samples! Latency was near zero.
Before it was near 10-20 milliseconds with my old SB Fx 1270 THX
My keyboard is so fast it's weird getting used to it.
    Notes:
    1. select the Sound Blaster SBZ series ASIO, NOT the "Creative ASIO".
    2. Be sure to remove all old Creative software before installing. I tried it without doing this cleaning, and got odd silences in my browsers at random-seeming times. It seems to work better now.
    3. Measuring tool: DPC latency checker V 1.2.0
(CEntrance latency test did not work)
    Results: Average latency 26 microseconds,
peak latency 1120 microseconds when starting up Kontackt 5 (note: Micro, not Milli-seconds)

  • Creative Sound Blaster ZxR Optical s/pDIF Surround Recording

I just downloaded and installed Audacity for Windows version 2.x.x (the latest Audacity version).
I'm recording my xbox 360 game play sound and possibly some OTA Antenna receiver Dolby 5.1 Surround through a Toslink optical cable input on the daughter card of the SB ZxR sound card.
I'm using an Intel Core i7 2600 in an Asus p8p67 deluxe running Windows 7 Ultimate x64 using the Creative Labs Sound Blaster ZxR.
It works fine for Xbox 360 dashboard System Settings, Console, Digital Audio, set to Stereo (2 channel sound), but does not when xb360 is set for Dolby Digital 5.1 output since the Audacity drop down list box for the recording device has only the options for Stereo or Mono--even when 5.1 Surround is being output by the xb360.
When the incoming audio stream of 5.1 surround is recorded by audacity, the sampled sound is a huge amount of loud almost white noise of random digital static sound.
What audio device capabilities enumeration is being used to determine if incoming AC3 multichannel digital optical signals are more than stereo since this stream could, in theory, change on the fly depending on the program material being sent by the source device?
Is this the fault of the sound card driver from Creative Labs and is being reported improperly to MS Windows intermediate level device driver layers, that are in turn reported to audacity in its enumeration of the device's input stream contents?
To see the physical appearance of the Creative Labs Sound Blaster ZxR DBpro daughter card with its gray output Toslink female socket and its black input Toslink socket, do a Google image search as follows:
"sound blaster zxr" optical in dbpro "daughter card"
    http://goo.gl/ewO6ha
Is there any way to circumvent this sad state of affairs as a temporary work around for this problem with an interim software source code revision?
Could a software layer or function be added in audacity to parse the incoming data stream to determine the streams' characteristics (possibly on the fly -- in real time)?
When in the Creative Labs SB ZxR software control for mixer, etc, I have the settings for the card sometimes set to "listen to this device" for the Optical Toslink input port, and the sound coming out of the Speaker Outputs does not get sent to the Optical Output Toslink port to go to my Dolby digital audio receiver--my default Windows sound device--so that I cannot hear any of the supposed input audio stream at all.
Why is this effective pass through functionality not working?
I have two or more Hauppauge ComputerWorks High Definition Video capture devices with Toslink optical inputs, and they work fine to capture higher level multichannel AC3 optical streams.
What is wrong with the Creative Labs Soundblaster ZxR recording capability for such streams?
Can the driver be updated to fix these problems?
I have posted a few hours ago on the Audacity software's web forums to see if anyone there has any answers as to what can be done and what is happening and what is at fault in this process...
    http://forum.audacityteam.org/viewto...p?f=46&t=84846

I noticed the following when I more closely examined the SB ZxR Mixer settings...
The Toslink / optical s/pDIF input levels, even when an AC3 surround 5.1 channel stream is being input displays level control sliders for only Left and Right channels, when there should be 6 channels.
Creative Labs Dolby is improperly being handled within both their driver and application software for the sound card, or the card itself is designed NOT to handle properly multichannel AC3 in a dynamic fashion as provided by the source optical device.
    Why?

  • Sound Blaster ZxR - Whats going on, where is it?

Hello everyone looking for some answers here.
Wanting to know when the ZxR is going to be out in the UK. Everything I have seen has spoken about early December, this is now the last day of. So what's going on here? The release date has passed and I still cannot find anything explaining it from you guys? I have been waiting nearly a year to upgrade my faulty Sound Blaster X-Fi that has finally died after years of hardcore service and to be honest none of the recent creative cards have been worth swapping it for. Honestly if this card isnt out soon I'll just have to buy a Xonar or something I have always been a creative customer never bought anything other than your sound cards but this is just a joke now and is definitely going to lose your company customers.
I would like some actual information on when it is coming out or if you don't know the proper reason why it isn't out. If its due to faults or issues your customers would want to know this, it would make them happier that you care about quality of use for example. Ignoring us just makes people get annoyed and turn away
    Look forward to a reply
    Greg M
    Glasgow, UK

That's still the bare minimum of information, and still as vaige as it can be... Can't you guys do better than this? where the f... is the customer satisfaction? this is almost funny how bad this is :/
I suppose I will wait 14 more days if I cant get it by the 18th I'll just go get a card from another company. It wont be what I want but atleast I CAN get one and the customer service will be a bit better Creative you need to pull yourselves together I am very disappointed with this company lately. Can't even get a good sound card from my favourite manufacturer. I will just have to keep listening to my Zen Vision:M YES I HAVE ONE OF THEM TOO!!!

  • Sound Blaster E5 - SBX Surround question

    Hello all,
I plan on buying this card for its high quality output for music and movies and for gaming, as it has the SB-Axx1 processor.
I just need to know one thing, does it show up as a 5.1 or 7.1 card on Windows?
Some games only allow surround sound if Windows tell them that I have a surround system, and that would limit the use of SBX Surround Pro on most games.
    Thanks

  • Sound Blaster ZXR Creative Audio Control panel

Hi. I bought a soundblaster ZXR. I uninstalled the driver for the old sound blaster X-Fi card, then shut off my computer and installed the ZXR card (which fits into a different slot than the X-Fi did), then restarted the computer and installed the software for the ZXR.
My situation is as follows: when I click on the Creative Audio Control panel, I get a message saying "The audio device supported by this application is not detected". I looked thru the internet and the general advice seems to be that the software for the older X-Fi card is not easily removed, and to remove it, I should uninstall the ZXR software, remove the ZXR card, re-install the old X-Fi card, then use some rather advanced techniques to make sure all of the software for the X-Fi card is uninstalled, then turn off the computer and take out the X-Fi card, then install the ZXR card, and re-install the software for the ZXR card. With some reluctance, I was about to do that, but then I noticed a folder called Sound Blaster Z Series was installed, so I opened it and clicked on Sound Blaster Z Series Control Panel, and a program opened up which allows me to make some changes to my sound set up.
My question is - When I click on the Creative Audio Control panel, am I supposed to get a message saying "The audio device supported by this application is not detected", because the Sound Blaster Z Series Control Panel is taking it's place? ...or does that error message tell me that there's something that I should address to avoid any future problems. I want to learn how to work with various sound programs, like sound forge, cakewalk, acid pro, kontakt, etc. and I want to start with a proper setup to help me avoid any unneeded frustrations. I have a fairly new computer with an ASUS P8H77 motherboard. Under Device Manager - Sound, Video and game controllers, I have the following entries:
    High Definition Audio Device
    Sound Blaster Audio Controller
    Sound Blaster ZxR
    Sound Blaster ZxR DBpro
I right clicked the High Definition Audio Device, then disabled it, but that didn't help so I enabled it again.
    Thanks.

The Creative Audio Control Panel is a single entry leftover from your old X-FI. Uninstall just that. Then you can make a shortcut to the other you were speaking off and put that shortcut wherever you wish. I uninstalled an X-FI before and I had that control panel left over even after uninstalling what I thought was everything.

  • SB EVO-ZXR Problems!!!

I have a pair of Evo-ZXR headphones, and i have a problem with the mic, it gets blurred after i have talked for
10sec, and i have already RMA:ed the first pair i got because i thougt something was broken but is this the
    standard on these expensive headset?
Is anyone ellse having this problem or have a solution to it???

I am having the exact same issue with my ZxR headset on an iMac Mid-2011 (3.4GHz i7, 16GB DDR3) on OS X 10.9.1, Windows 7 Pro SP1 via Boot Camp, iPhone 5s calls and voice recordings, iPad 2 and also an old Dual Core Dell Laptop with Windows 7 Pro SP1. On these machines, the input recording level is set to maximum and all recording features on the SB Control Panel have been disabled. I am also running the latest software from January 2014 and the latest firmware from November 2013.
I have a quiet, low-pitched voice and I am experiencing these muffling recording issues. It is as if the effects processor is not picking up my voice straight away, and the gain on the microphone is not being ramped up fast enough and is taking about ten seconds to ramp up to maximum gain which at this time, the microphone hears me perfectly fine. In addition to this, when I am talking, the gain on the microphone will drop randomly and recordings will be muffled again. This also could be an issue with the many voice optimisation features of the headset overestimating the level of my voice as noise. It would have been nice to disable some of the ‘built-in’ voice optimisation features in the control panel to test that hypotheses.
To test this, I start humming a low C-flat note and then start a recording in any waveform editor such as Audacity, Audition and Cool Edit Pro using the dedicated ZxR recording input channel, the recording waveform is as follows…
    zxronsteroids.jpg
As you can see, the microphone has not heard my voice for the first few seconds. This issue occurs via Bluetooth, analogue and USB where the headset is switched ON, however, if you switch the headset fully OFF and plug the analogue cable for the headset into my onboard audio device (Cirrus Logic CS4206B (AB32)), any microphone pickup is perfect which is as expected from any headset…
    zxroffsteroids.jpg
My conclusion is that there is an issue with the firmware, and I hope Creative Labs will work with me (us) to resolve the issue because this is the only reason that is preventing me from returning the headset back to the vendor and since I am not alone with this issue, I am prepared to be patient in the hope that this issue can be resolved as I do like this headset a lot and have enjoyed Sound Blaster products since the old SB16 ISA card days!
I have already sent a support request via the Creative Labs contact form about this major issue, which I must say as an 'advanced user', they are not very trustful that I know what I am talking about unfortunately.

  • Sound Blaster Z is missing EAX environment effects in the Control Panel

Sound Blaster Z is an incredible card, and environment effects are the most important thing I look for.
Sound Blaster Z supports EAX 5.0. So where did the EAX settings in the SBX Pro Studio Console go?
For example, I'm unable to choose "Concert Hall" or "Stone Corridor" or "Amphitheater" environmental effects.
Was this intentional? Should I buy a Sound Blaster X-Fi card? As far as I know, X-Fi cards are not missing EAX settings in the control panel. But it really doesn't make sense that Sound Blaster Z is missing EAX settings in the control panel if it is a more advanced sound card and supports EAX 5.0.

  • Sound Blaster Sound Cards and Gigaworks S750

I recently purchased a Sound Blaster Zx sound card and found that it only supports up to 5.1 speaker configurations. That means I don't have sound from my side speakers in my Gigaworks S750 7.1 system. Needless to say I am very disappointed with Creative Labs engineers wondering why 7.1 support has been dropped from their very own speaker systems. I am posting hoping some more knowledgeable forum members can offer a better solution to my dilemma.
I could go back to my X-Fi Extreme Music card which has all of the 3.5 mm minijack speaker connectors but I would rather not do this as support for this card has been dropped and I am doubtful that there will be many more driver and/or software updates available. I would also rather not buy a new speaker system b/c I am happy with the Gigaworks and don't really want to replace it.
I looked going back to an older Titanium HD soundcard but it only has RCA connectors on the back of the soundcard and the Gigaworks connectors are 3.5 mm minijacks. The Gigaworks has no optical or HDMI connectors anywhere. I wonder....can I connect the 3.5 mm jacks from the Gigaworks to the RCA or optical ports on the ZX or Titanium HD with an adapter or converter? Does Creative sell new cables or adaptors, or any special audio shop for that matter, that would make the connections work?
    Can anyone help please?
    Thanks!

As I said, that upmix is only a workaround, you still have just 5.1 discrete channels, just that the rear and sidespeakers emit the same sound.
I don't have any experience with Asus or Auzentech. Both have their issues as well but they are both very good and only the very best creative cards (X-Fi Titanium HD, ZxR and perhaps X-Fi Elite Pro) can compete.
On the other side Asus has most of their cards in production for half a decade without alteration and doesn't update their drivers very often as well. Their don't be as many issues as with creative cards, but you will find people having problems as well, it's not like they work flawlessly for everyone.
Same for Auzentech, only they didn't produce as highend cards as Asus and some Creatives (Titanium HD and ZxR only) plus while their dirver support seems to be good, their other support is nonexistant, especially since they seem to have stopped producing soundcards. Additionaly I have heard of the X-Fi Forte mysteriously dying on many people after some years.
The differences aren't great, though, and in my opinion you won't find a soundcard combining everything to perfection. The ZxR nearly does, only lacking 7.1 output.
The Asus Xonar STX is very similar, but can only ouput analoge stereo, while the PCI-based ST can output the very best analoge 7.1 available with a additional daughtercard (but who wants a PCI card nowadays?).
The best 7.1 cards from Asus, D2 and D2X, lack a Headphone-Amp, while the Xonar Xense and Phoebus, being nearly identical to each other, have one but use a slightly lesser DAC for all channels apart from Stereo, similar to the Auzentech X-Fi Forte and Bravura.
The D1 and DX finally are only slightly better than the X-Fi Music and Titanium, because they use a slightly better DAC for Stereo, which is used on Audigy 4 Pro and X-Fi Elite Pro for all channels and for stereo on the soundblaster Z and Zx.
Everything below (Xonar DG(X) and DS(X)) ist far inferior, though the DG(X) sports a cheap headphone-amp even the D2X lacks.
So, if you only want 7.1 as good as possible, the Xonar D2X is the best solution, followed by the D2, Auzentech X-Fi Prelude and Creative X-Fi Elite Pro.
But, if you want to drive very good headphones, too, the Xonar Xense, Phoebus and Auzentech X-Fi Forte will be the better solution.
None of them will be as good as the ZxR, if you can live with discrete 5.1 only.
The minijack cables aren't an option. Just when you connect your Gigaworks to any Asus, Auzentech, Creative X-Fi Titanium card or most onboard codecs you have to use 4 stereo minijack cables, while for any Creative 6.1/7.1 card from Audigy 2 to X-Fi PCI-series you have to use a special 4 stereo to 3 4-pin minijack cable, which probably came with your gigawarks set.
If you want to use any "normal" sound card you don't need any special cable, it's just 4x any normal stereo minijack cable.
