Sound Blaster X-fi extreme au

Hello to all!! Are there gonna be new drivers for vista and soon?
i have audio corruption with a lot of games and recently with The club. Open AL and ALchemy must be
install together?

One thing that will help with the distortion in games, make sure all in game audio settings are set to software if they aren't already. The Xtreme Audio can not do hardware processing because it doesn't have the hardware, and a driver update won't fix that.

• On board sound on GA-Z77X-UD3H vs Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme Audio

Christmas last year I upgraded to a new computer and I'm wondering if I would gain any audio performance or sound quality by moving my old Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme Audio card to my new computer which is presently running with on-board sound.
Here's the link to the motherboard model I have: http://ca.gigabyte.com/products/prod...px?pid=4441#sp
The audo is listed as:
1.VIA VT2021 codec
2.High Definition Audio
3.2/4/5.1/7.1-channel
4.Support for S/PDIF Out
Would it be worth it even with this old sound card? Or does the new on-board sound quality beat the old sound cards of yesterday? Also, yes I do play a lot of new generation games.

The X-FI Extreme Audio does not have an X-FI chip. It is an Audigy 2 chip with software emulation to come close to the sound capabilites of an X-FI chip based card. There is a lot of information about it on the web, Creative has taken quite a PR hit because of the comments by the CEO at that time. I don't know if he is still the CEO nor do I really care.

• Question Regarding the Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme Gam

Hello everyone, I apologize if this question has been asked dozens of times, but it's something I've dug through countless number of posts to find an answer to. I bought a sennheiser pc 350 headset this past weekend along with a sound blaster x-fi x-treme gamer sound card. I opened up my case, plugged the card into the pci slot, screwed it down and finally plugged in the power cable into the card. Upon bootup I disabled the on board sound in the BIOs, although?I did notice that the optical out slot emitted a redish light, which I'm not sure indicates a problem or not.
Anyways, after booting up the computer detects the new hardware, so I install everything on the vista CD before going online and downloading the latest drivers off the creative website. I'm running Vista 64 bit ultimate btw. After installation I reboot the system and hook my microphone into optical out and my headset into line . I ended up getting sound in my headset just fine, but no matter what I did I could not for the love of me get the mic to work. And that's the sole problem, the little microphone lol. I've read several posts about the same thing, although they date awhile back and I was hoping a solution has emerged since. I've read that on the x-fi control panel line and mic need to NOT be muted, but whenever I unmute on, it mutes the other. I also find the digital I/O setting tab which also may be the culprit, as it has the selection for mic-in/line , but I can't select it!
Otherwise I believe everything is fine.. in the control panel under speech recog options I went into advanced settings under speech recog and set the sb xfi mic to the default... and yes, in the sound tab the mic is the default with everything else being unavaible and the auxiliary being disabled ( is this ok? ) and in playback speakers are the default rather than spdif out - not sure which should be the default. The mic, speakers, and spdif say they are all "working" and although playback works... no recording.
Anyways, I'm sorry for the long post, I just thought I would give as much possible information as?I could to help get a solution... I appreciate any comments and please - please help me fix this thing! lol.

Sounds like you have misapprehended something regarding usage of analog and digital I/Os?
st, you don't plug the microphone into optical output but into FlexiJack port (as it's called). Check the X-Fi User's Guide for more.
2nd, when you wonder that those other choices being not available when one is selected, what makes you think that the card would be able to record more than one source at once through one input port (For Creative cards, this can be possible when using ASIO drivers but, does your card have more than one input port. (if there's a AUX port (internal connector on card board) then maybe you could get both input ports listed w/ ASIO)?
3rd, why the ouput would be defaulted to S/PDIF (you are normally using headphones or acti've analog speakers)?
I don't know this model but if there's a separate Mixer Panel applet for X-Fi (you maybe need to install the Creative Software bundle to get this) then, have you checked your settings there (playback source should be set to MIC and recording source set to MIC)?

• Windows don't see my Sound Blaster card after moving it to a different PCI sl

Hi there,
MY CARD IS THE:
Sound Blaster XF-I Xtreme Music
==============================
MY PROBLEM IS AS FOLLOWS
==============================
My sound blaster card was working properly during year, but... when I changed it to a different PCI slot inside my PC (the card was removed from one PCI slot to a different one)... then Windows Vista is unable to find the card, and is not listed in the device manager... so I cannot play sound, because the card is not recognized by Windows Vista
In Windows Vista, in the device manager, all devices seems to work fine. I dont find yellow triangles neither question marks. The problem is the Sound Blaster XF-I Extreme Music card dont appear in the sound, video and game controllers list.
If I try to run the Creative Console... says it don't detect my card.
All this happened when I moved it to a different PCI slot, before this, the sound card was working fine
Consequently, I don't have sound and cannot play music.
A friend told me that perhaps it could be a very good idea uninstall the drivers and installing them again... but also I DON'T KNOW HOW TO UNINSTALL THE DRIVERS, because when I was searching in the control panel, programs... I don't see any reference to "creative drivers" or "sound blaster drivers"
The only I see are three entries...
Creative Sound Blaster properties...
The console (Creative Sound Blaster console)
And the initiator (Creative Console Initiator)
But I dont find any reference to the drivers... :smileysurprised:
===> Please, could you tell me how to solve the problem, to allow Windows Vista detect my sound card and again I can have audio?
===> Please, could you tell me how to uninstall the drivers?
Remember that Creative Recommend to uninstall the drivers the following:
To uninstall the driver, do the following:
Click Start -> All Programs -> Control Panel.<
Double-click the Device Manager icon.<
Double-click the Sound, video and game controllers option.<
Right-click the Creative SB X-Fi option, and select Uninstall.
The Confirm Device Uninstall dialog box appears.<
Select the Delete the driver software for this device option.
Note: This check box must be selected to avoid reinstallation issues.<
Click the OK button.<
Restart your computer.<
But also remember that I don't have that entry in the device manager, because Windows is not recognizing the card... so the situation is I have the drivers loaded in my Windows Vista... but I don't have that entry in the device manager list... so consequently I don't know where are the drivers to uninstall them, and again, install them... so I cannot uninstall and doing a clean installation afterwards.
===> Please, could you tell me if the proper drivers for my card are the following (in Spanish)

Lately, the creative file containing the drivers for my model was this:
SBXF_PCDVT_LB_2_5_0002.exe

If I try it again I will follow your advice when moving the catalogue to the default location. (but can you be more specific regarding what comprises the restored catalogue files (ie are they all inside one PSD folder, or are there other folders that sit alongside it?).
Suppose you have a backup folder named 'MyBackup'.
When you restore it to a 'custom' location, you state or create a destination folder on any drive. Let's call it 'My Restaur'. When the restore is complete, you get a new folder 'My Restaur' in which you find a subfolder named 'My Backup' = its the catalog ; along with other subfolders in the same structure as they were in the original folders.
The catalog folder contains :
(PSE6 test catalog)
To get rid of the unwanted folder heirarchy transferred from XP when restoring to a New Location but retaining Old File Structure would you suggest dragging and dropping the Folders in PS Folder View or some other process?.I gather I must do this from within PS to avoid having to reconnect all the files.
Yes, moving folder trees by dragging them in folder view to 'shortcut' unwanted subfolder stages is ok. I don't like it very much because I don't know what would happen if you had a power shortage during the process... But if you have still the backup, that would be good. For a big catalog, be patient, but there would be no need to reconnect.

• Sound Blaster Sigma config

Hi all....
I have a simple, and probably stupid, question.....
I bought a Sound Blaster Sigma headset some days ago and still have a sound blaster X-Fi Extreme Music sound card.....
To have the better 360° 3D audio, have I to use the X-Fi sound card or the USB sound card that comes with the headphones? Which is better (not only in terms of audio quality, but specifically for 3D gaming audio)?
Hope that the X-Fi is good too......hope it's better also....
Sorry for my english....
Thx in advice for the answers....

Thank you for answering,
I can use the mini jacks but not the features I bought the headset for? The mini jack functioning of this headset seem no better than any $25 headset . . . and I have spent years plugged in in recording studios.
So the features of this headset are not available if I am using your High-end soundcard?!?!?!?!? How is this possible?!?!?!? And why does the box not say this???? Now that I have spent hundreds of dollars on your soundcard and nearly another $100 on your headphones I am just out of luck!!!???
I think this needs a website of its own. What am I to do with this useless waste of money at this point?
So, please, tell me what I am to do?
And please send me contact information for the marketing product leads for both of these products!
Awaiting a reasonable answer,
Thank you for writing to Creative Technical Support.
Please note that when in USB connection, USB devices such as your SB Tactic3D Sigma Headset will create its own USB Audio Device and it will bypass the onboard sound card and the X-fi Titanium card.
Make sure that the headset is properly detected in Device Manager and selected as the default playback and recording device.
When using the mini-jack, please ensure that the X-fi Titanium card is selected as the default playback and recording device.

• Trouble with my Sound Blaster

? I've recently started using my HP a6250z desktop computer again, but I seem to be having some problems with my Sound Blaster X-fi Extreme Audio. It's got the newest drivers for the system, so I rule that out. On to the problems though, first, I can't use any microphones, I plug my set into the jack in the back marked with a microphone and nothing happens. Second, this may be part of the system, but should I have to restart my computer every time I plug in a new pair of speakers/headphones or should the computer adjust automatically? Third, sometimes, the sound will just cease working and will not work until I restart my computer, I can't identify any real correlation to anything that I do when this occurs. I'd really appreciate any help that anyone has with these and any possible avenues for me to look down when it comes to finding help.
Thank you,
kinzey37

Does your Xtreme Audio card come with the system? Was your driver installed dated - 2007 version 6.0..28? If so it would seem very old. I'm not sure the drivers on the driver download site will work with the card that came with your desktop. Another alternati've you can try is to use daniel k's SB P7X support pack. http://forums.creative.com/creativel...hread.id=39754

• How to use 5.1 computer speakers with PS3 via Sound Blast

Hi,
i dont have the money to buy a second set of surround sound speakers to use with my PS3. I already have a set of Creative 5. surround computer speakers that connect via 3.5mm jacks into my sound card, there is no optical port on the speakers.
Is there a way to use these speakers with the PS3 as well. I was thinking along the lines of could i buy a new Sound Blaster X-Fi Extreme audio card which has an optical-in socket and connect my PS3 to the sound card via optical cable, and use the new Sound Blaster as an amp to redirect the sound to the computer speakers back out along the sound cards 3.5mm jack connections.
I have no idea if this would work or not so before i buy the new sound card i could anybody confirm or deny whether this works. And if not any suggestions?
Thanks alot, i appreciate any help.

thanks again but perhaps i didnt explain clearly enough. I dont want to have simultaneous optical input and output, other wise there wouldnt be a problem. The speakers i have are 5. computer speakers. The computer is connected to them via 3*3.5mm jacks from the sound card to the sub, the other sattelite speakers are connected by audio rca to the sub. My speakers have no optical-in on them, hence having to to re-route the sound through a sound card (if it would work). Essentialy using the sound card as an amp or as a big optical to 3*3.5mm jack adaptor.

• Sound Blaster Extreme Music do not detect changes on the console

I'm using the sound blaster X-Fi XtremeMusic with Logitech Z-5500 and the Flexi Jack, connected on Digital mode (Using Coaxial and Optical). The OS? Is Windows Vista Ultimate 32 Bits.
The problem at this moment is that I can not make any change on the console configuration, I mean, if I change the speaker connection or change any parameter of the configuration has no reaction,I even change the EAX effects, the CMSS-3D ad nothing happen, all that I can control with the console launcher is the volume.
I reinstall the drivers and download from the website the latest drivers I found and same problem.
?Any help?
THANKS?

Choose Soundblaster in the dropdown box and you will see XFi listed , you will find the latest drivers there....Seems rather strange to me since this is a XFi card, but hey I did not design the Website......

• Biostar mobo not recognising Sound blaster cards

Hi all, Just moved a whole lotta bits from a Dell XPS420 over to a new mobo/case/psu setup.
Full kit list now:
Biostar TPower I45 Intel Q6600, with Arctic Cooler Freezer 7 pro
3Gb RAM
2x750Gb HD
Generic (Dell?) GeForce 8800GT, with Thermaltake HR-03GT
2x DVD Writers Antec 300 Case, with 2 additional Akasa 20mm red LED fans in front.
Be Quiet! Dark Power Pro 550W psu
Akasa internal card reader.
Sound Blaster Audigy (SB0570)
Vista Home Premium.
Okay, most things worked fine when I built it. I didn't reinstall the OS, just booted from the hard dri've. I just had to load the drivers for the Biostar website for chipset, LAN.
Only device that wasn't recognised was the Sound Blaster. I'd disabled on board sound in the BIOS. I thought this odd, as the SB had worked on the old PC, so I knew the drivers worked under Vista.
I re-downloaded the drivers and tried to reinstall, just in case. The driver install claimed no compatable hardware installed and quit. I checked the BIOS/Manual for any way to enable/disable PCI slots, in case this was the issue, no joy.
I then tried an old PCI network card in both PCI slots, just to see if it was mobo or card. The NIC was recognised straight away. At this point, I assumed I'd done something stupid and blown teh sound card. Oh well, get another one, slight upgrade to enable me to us the HDA front audio sockets on the case, which would be handy.
So bought a SB X-Fi Extreme (PCI) card. Installed... and same effect - card not detected. Tried new drivers, tried both slots, nothing. Put the NIC back in - recognised. Either SB card - nada.
Tried cleansweep to remove all traces of Creative sound card drivers - nothing. Tried on-board audio, this works... but DoW II and Red Alert 3 stutter badly, which is what I got from the on-board audio on the Dell XPS420, and prompted me to go sound card in the first place!
I even tried the most extreme option - wipe hard dri'ves and reload Vista from scratch. Still wouldn't locate them (I've reverted back to my original Vista build now, from a Windows Home Server backup image).
Gonna try the SB cards in other PCs at work this week just to confirm if they are working... but the chances of both a previously working card and a brand new one both being broke seem remote...
So help! I'm not sure what else I'm missing...

I do understand that they all have supported Vista Drivers, but your website says that some functions may not work under Vista. All I am trying to do is to select a card that all functions work out of the box when I install it with Vista instead of finding out later that all functions do not work under Windows Vista. Here is the statement from your support page:
Creative is developing Vista driver updates for many of its soundcard products. Many are already available on the web for download and installation to support existing customers. However, after installing an updated Windows Vista driver, some features that work on Windows XP may no longer be available due to changes in the audio architecture for Vista. See below for details specific to your product.
So what I am asking is Pre-Sales Help to help me select a Sound Card where all functions of the card works under Vista which I will use only for Moves and Music, no games.

• Sound blaster not working correctly?

Sound blaster not working correctly #I have a 64 bit, windows vista system.
A Logitech Z-5500 Digital speaker system (one woofer, center speaker, left, right, rear right, left rear speakers, and a seperate control head).
I have an X-fi gamer sound card.
I recently formatted my hard dri've and reinstalled everything. Trying to make everything happy again. Here is my problem:
When I use the Creative Console Launcher (CCL), my front right speaker tests fine. My front left speaker comes out of the woofer. And no other speakers will test at all. It does this in all modes (2., 4., 5. and 7.).
When I play some music, it is coming out of all of the speakers. But it won't test properly in the CCL. So, do I have an issue, does what the CCL is doing not matter, or something else In some games, hearing what direction stuff is coming from matters, so if it is sending sounds to the wrong speakers, then I need to figure out a fix.....hence my post.
Thanks for any help you can give, Robert

Well, as the official documatation states, the Archlinux is for more or less advanced users, and if you're not one, we will make you one
First of all, if you compiled your sound as modules, try putting this in your rc.local:
stat_busy "Activating Sound"
/sbin/modprobe your_sound_module
/sbin/modprobe other_sound_module
/sbin/modprobe yet_other_sound_module
stat_done
Change your_sound_module stuff to your module names as you configured in the kernel, of course.
Second: in order to have two or more sound apps working at the same time, you need some kind of sound server. For default one (esd), uncomment esd in /etc/rc.local (remove ! before it) . After that, you'll have to configure your sound apps to use esd. I know that this is extremely easy with xmms and xine, dunno about others. I do not use esd, because my favorite games (quake3 and half-life) require direct access to /dev/dsp.
And remember: nobody blames for asking 8)

• Issues related to Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio (PCI Express 1)

Hi, I've recently bought a SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio (PCI Express edition).
Before I address my issue, I'd like to point out that my rig is:
Maximus Extreme (mobo)?
Q6600 (cpu)
ATI4870 (vid card)
4Gigs of DDR3 (ram)
and my OS is Vista Home Edition (32 bit precision)?
And so after physically installing the hardware, I quickly installed everything there was on the CD- this included the drivers available on the CD. After this installation, I restarted then found most recent updates via online sources (creative.com). But even after all of this, I wasn't able to get my microphone to work. Now from my understanding, the jack is shared between Line-In and Microphone and I'm supposed to configure this setting. And so I tried to do that, but my only problem was that I was unable to use any of the available features. After researching for a few hours I found out that I, appearently have to uninstall everything that I had installed and then reinstall everything from online sources (from creative.com-- latest drivers for vista 32 bit). But even then, I still can't use my mic or configure the settings so that I could use microphone instead of Line-In.
Now going back to my actual question, how do I configure the settings so that I could use Microphone instead of Line-In?

ERe: Issues related to Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio (PCI Express )[ Bumping.
Almost the same problem here.
Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio edition, Windows 7 64bit.
I downloaded the latest driver from the Creative site, installed it, update with the update manager and then i installed the console.
Issue number : I DONT have your same console. I dont have a "Mode" button, im stuck in Entertainment Mode. I cant control almost nothing and i dont have all the options u have.
Issue number 2: My mic isnt working good. It's VERY low on volume, i cant be heard without the +20db boost (the only boost option i have, i cant boost more) and even with that acti've that's not that loud.
It is still working good with my onboard realtek soundcard. I cant understand what's the problem and how to solve it.
Ah, my headset is a Creative Fatality.

• My Sound Blaster Live 5.1 Digital won't work with Vista

First off, I wasn't sure whether to put this in the vista or Sound Blaster form so sorry if this is the wrong place.
Anyways. I got a new computer two days ago and just installed my old Sound Blaster li've 5. Digital (model SB0220) card into the new desktop. Vista, the operating system I'm using now tried to find the drivers but failed. Then I tried looking them up on the creative site with the drop down lists but it didn't pull up anything either.
I plan on buying an m-audio 2496 sound card soon but for now I would like to get back to recording and the Sound Blaster card is much better than the stock motherboard audio setup.
If anyone knows of any drivers for this card it would be extremely helpful.
ThanksMessage Edited by 85Dave on 07-0-200707:22 AM

hmm...thanks.
Well its not that bad really. sound blaster cards are not made for recording audio and so I was going to get the m-audio 2496 card anyways.
I'm just waiting for drivers on that which are supposed to come some time in the 2nd half of 2007.
Thanks for the info.

• Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Loses LFE Chan

Hi. I have a Sound Blaster Li've! 5. card hooked up Analog (3 RCA cables) to a Sony Home Theater System (SA-HT05). The 5. works perfectly for Center, Front, and Rear channels. However, I cannot get any ouput from the LFE channel. My reciever can simulate 5. through stereo source, and doing this I am able to get output so I know that my sub is not the problem.
I have tried increasing the bass vs treble in the Creative Surround Mixer (00 Bass vs 2 Treble) and there is still no LFE output.
I have tried using Bass Redirection in the Creative Surround Mixer (All Frequencies) and this also resulted in no LFE output.
After playing around with an audio decoder (FFDShow) and increasing the bass (double to triple output) and then listening to only that channel, I was able to hear some output. This makes me think that most likely something is making my LFE channel extremely soft, to the point where I cannot hear it unless it is the only channel playing.
Has anyone experienced this problem before, know a fix, or perhaps even a workaround ? (FFDShow only seems to do video files, can I configure it to be my default decoder for ALL audio ?
PS. Unless I am mistaken, there have been no new drivers for this device either (I used the update within windows as well as searching this site)

You will get better results using bass redirection in yer surround mixer or speaker settings. Once you do this however, you'll find that the bass levels are somewhat low ( but better than without bass redirection ).
Perhaps you should have a look a this thread:

Basically currently only the X-Fi family with its +5dB subwoofer boost in bass redirection mode will generate a decent subwoofer channel.
Once you enable surround mixer, you could add a +0dB subwoofer volume level boost on yer receiver ( assuming yer receiver has this option )
