Sound blaster X-Fi surround 5.1

HI,
I recently bought Creative Sound Blaster X-FI surround 5. for my Inspire M4500 (4.) speakers. I am using Dell Inspiron 545 laptop with Vista 32 bit Operating system.
With sound card, they gave me the Y splitter cable and i connected the front speakers cable (from? my woofer) to that and rare speakers wire to "rear" on the sound card.
I modified the speakers configuration to 4.. But Iam not getting clear sound from rear speakers. it is giving some buzzzz kind of sound where as front speakers are working good.
How to resolve this problem? I installed all the drivers came with CD and set these as default. Plz advice.
Thanks
Naveen

    Hello,
I've problems connecting Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5. to my home theater Panasonic PT860 through?optic cable. All that I'm receiving is 2. sound.. BTW, OS is Windows 7. I've tried reinstalling OS, tried to change drivers and so on. Now I think that's is not possible to have 5. sound with my current configuration but maybe You can help me. Someone?

    Hi.
You can only play stereo audio through optical output for uncompressed audio format. To be able to play more than stereo through optical, you need to be playing compressed audio (dolby/dts). You can read more about this in this thread. http://forums.creative.com/t5/Sound-Blaster/Digital-Connections-SPDIF-and-Dolby-Digital-Info/td-p/45857

  • Sound Blaster E5 - SBX Surround question

    Hello all,
I plan on buying this card for its high quality output for music and movies and for gaming, as it has the SB-Axx1 processor.
I just need to know one thing, does it show up as a 5.1 or 7.1 card on Windows?
Some games only allow surround sound if Windows tell them that I have a surround system, and that would limit the use of SBX Surround Pro on most games.
    Thanks

    Hi lagonauta,
Sound Blaster E5 will be perceived as a stereo card on Windows.

  • Sound Blaster 5.1 surround sound prob

In a nutshell, I have 5. surround sound speakers. The front left and right speakers will not work. Every other speaker on the system is functioning just fine. If I change my audio source from the SB card to SigmaTel audio, ONLY the front right and left speakers and subwoofer function, so I know it's not a speaker malfunction. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!?RunawayJim

U need to go and set to 5. speakers in the Audio Console for the 5. speakers to work.

  • Workaround for Sound Blaster X-Fi surround 5.1 pro on Windows 8.1

    Hi all,
Here is a post dedicated to the workaround I found to make that USB card work on Windows 8.1 (can any admit make it sticky?).
I will explain all the things to do in order to install it correctly.
    For that you will need:
    - Your computer and your sound card (obvious...)
    - the original drivers & software CD of your sound card.
    - a USB HUB with an external power supply (very important).
    Please follow those steps:
    - uninstall/disable any on board sound card from windows.
    - reboot
    - plug the USB HUB in your computer, then plug the sound card in this HUB (don't forget to also plug the external power supply).
    - install the drivers and softwares from the original CD in administrator and Windows 7 compatibility mode
    - reboot
    - download and install the last drivers here and install them in admin mode (no compatibility mode this time!)
    - reboot again.
    - That's all! it should work now! Enjoy!!

    Neily,
I am afraid the specs of your laptop doesn't meet the minimum system requirement.

  • Sound Blaster X-FI 5.1 Speakers

I am trying to configure my 5. speaker system to work on my laptop using Windows XP. When I run the test -- all speakers work fine and 5. is selected as default.
But - when I go to play music thorugh iTunes - the two small and the sub are working (3 are not).
When I got to play music through the internet - no speakers work.
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks!

Ok, nevermind, I was going to use it as 2.1 anyway, because I am taking my speakers to dorm and I can only fit subwoofer and LR speakers. But another problem. I connected my LR speakers and subwoofer to 2.1 input to my Surround 5.1 pro, but subwoofer slider is not doing anything, bass is too high and it's making my things on table vibrate Equalizer is working, but I would adjust subwoofer as it is rather then adjusting frequencies in EQ, how do I do that? My sub is already set on lowest bass volume possible, but it's still too much.

  • Seeking Sound Blaster recommendations for a notebook

I'm looking for a solution for a notebook which provides OpenAL and EAX 5.0 support for my games which use those. Ease of portability is not an overwhelming factor, though it would be appreciated. Most (≈ 95%) of my gaming as well as general notebook use is done with headphones, but I occasionally use external speakers; lack of 7.1-channel support isn't a deal breaker, but it, or even just 5.1-channel support, would be nice to have. With regard to this notebook, audio immersiveness in games is a greater priority than audio immersiveness in, say, movies, but I'm seeking a solution that is performant across-the-board. From what I can gather, and unfortunately I don't have info on the Sound Blaster X7 or any other near-future products, my options are:
    1) Sound Blaster E5
    2) Sound Blaster X-Fi HD
    3) Sound Blaster X-Fi MB3 software (for Realtek ALC892, if supported)
    4) Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro
    5) Sound Blaster Recon3D
    6) Sound Blaster X-Fi Go! Pro
    7) Sound Blaster Play! 2
I've ranked these highest to lowest by what I expect the quality to be (and my guesstimate may be completely wonky), but I would appreciate any feedback. It's unclear to me if any of the aforementioned X-Fi branded products actually offer hardware-accelerated EAX, although the X-Fi HD, which has a CA0189 chip, is advertised as offering it (http://www.soundblaster.com/products...r-X-Fi-HD.aspx), as is the Sound Blaster X-Fi Go! Pro (http://www.amazon.com/Creative-Sound.../dp/B0044DEDC0). I know the Sound Core3D/SB-Axx1 products use Host OpenAL. I also don't know if any of the seven above would conflict with Sound Blaster Cinema 2 software.

    Hi James,
Thanks for your question. If you want a device that would work well with LabVIEW, why not use NI hardware! All of our hardware work seamlessly with LabVIEW and they are all supported by National Instruments as well.
We have a range of modules that would be suitable for your application. If you prefer one of our engineers could even come onsite (free of charge) and talk to you about your application and how you plan to use your NI card. We have branches all over the world so you would be supported no matter where you are. As you know we also have local support in the UK.
For more information please call 01635 523 545 and ask to speak with one of our Sales Engineers.
I hope this helps, please let me know if you have any other questions.

  • Constant crackle with USB Sound Blaster 5.1. I'll reward you with cookies if you help

    Hey guys,
I got the external USB Sound Blaster X-Fi 5. Surround sound card for Christmas, and I've heard a constant, uninterrupted crackle/popping sound since I've installed it. It's incredibly aggravating. I ran through the FAQ, but most of it wasn't applicable because this isn't an internal sound card.
I'm running Windows 7 with 4 gigs of RAM. I can provide other specs if necessary. I'm about to return this card if I can't figure out the problem, so any help provided would be most appreciated. Thanks!

I am curious to learn, what kind of processor do you use?
I use the same product but I have, afaik, not noticed any crackling or popping, certainly nothing constant.
If you use Winamp, the following tips might not help, but at least I get to mention it. In the preferences, under plug-ins and under Output, one can in the device tab change the eh uh device.
Mine was set to primary sound driver, and I set it to "02 Speaker (Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5. Pro", though I do not think it make any difference. Edit: I see now that there is a message here saying "FAQ 0 "primary sound driver" refers to preferred sound device selected in windows control panel".
Someone mentioned that one could try checking the "create primary buffer" in that same tab.
In the next tab called "Buffering", there is the option to "enable cpu usage control". Not sure what good that is for.
Edit2: If you use Winamp, you might want to try out this DSP plugin "enhancer", only works with win7 with this guys work on it (old plugin allegedly unsupported):

  • Sound blaster Upmixed surround sound Vs Home Theatre syste

Not quite sure what your asking but here goes anyway, 7. is obviously the better due to having 7speakers and a sub which equals more channels, more speakers, greter effects.
If you have a creative home theatre that is 7. such as 'Creative GigaWorks S750' and your sound card doesnt support 7. then the theatre system does allow you to upmix 5. or 6. to 7., but this is not as good as having true 7. because for example if you watch a movie that has 7. surround sound support the sound will only be played in 5. or 6. but the theatre system will upmix it to play on all 7 speakers, to explain in more detail if the film you are watching is trying to play sound on just the middle speakers if the sound card only supports 5. then the sound will get sent to the rear speakers insted and the theater system will upmix it and send it to the middle speakers as well, which would reduce what ever sound effects it is that the movie is trying to put across. So for the best performance and entertainment value a 7. theatre system with 7. capable sound card is the best option.
    Hope this helps

  • Sound Blaster OMNI Surround 5.1 - input issue

    Hi there all,
Purchased one of the above units today after sales person confirmed I could input three channels. I have three radios and wanted to take there mono output and put 2 into 1 for Line-In (Stereo) and 1 into Mic-in (Mono).
Have tried everything and can't have both Mic-In and Line-In active at the same time in Win7, reviewing manual and sales images its show you can attached to line-in and to Mic-in but does not say anywhere you can only use one at a time.
Can someone please confirm if its possible to use both Line-in and Mic-in at the same time or not.
    Many thanks
    Dave
