Sound Blaster XFI MB3 issue

Hi,
I own a Dell XPS 15 laptop, 2011 edition, running Windows 8.1 Pro 64 bit. I purchase Sound Blaster X Fi MB3 about a month and half ago, I felt changes in the sound output after using this software. I noticed last few days that whenever I try to increase or decrease the volume on my system, it does not effect the sound output. First I noticed in the game, after that it started to happen every time.
I thought the realtek audio driver was corrupted, I re-installed it. But no changes happened. I then uninstalled the sound blaster software and restarted the system. The controls started working perfectly. I did some search on net regarding this problem and found something to do with the audio output being sent to wrong playback device.
I checked the volume advance setting and found that, modifying the volume on xfi properties did not effect the sound, but realtek properties were effecting the sound output. I still get the sound blaster enhancement working though. I do not understand how the setting is working when the realtek option doesnt show sound output but does have control to volume.
Has anyone come across any such issue ?

I have raised the issue with creative team, but they were not able to find the issue. I just want to know which software is having issue, is it the OS or the XFi MB3...
Thanks
Hi kromastorm,
It's hard to tell but based on the snap shots, it seems that the volume controls of the Realtek and X-Fi MB3 are not in sync. Under normal condition, the volume levels should be in sync.
Suggest that you uninstall the X-Fi MB3 first; follow by the Realtek driver. Download and install the latest Realtek driver before reinstalling back the X-Fi MB3 software. I reckon there are software updates that may interfere with the software behaviour; so be sure to disable any background programs before proceeding.

  • Garbled sound NF4/Sound Blaster XFi Gamer with over 4GB memory

Sound is garbled, some people say it is popping, scratchy. System is: MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum/SLI, Opteron 185, 4 GB DDR 500 Memory, Sound Blaster XFi Extreme Gamer Sound Card and ATI HD 4850. This is a clean install of Windows 7 64 Home. Latest Creative drivers for Win7 cause sound to sound broken up or garbled. The work around is to lower the amount of memory windows can use below 4 GB, through msconfig. This work around gets the sound working, but windows now shows I have 3.25 GB of memory. The drivers seem to be the problem and I would like to know it anyone else has had this problem and what they did about it?

  • Sound Blaster Sigma 3D issues.

So, about a year ago I got the sigma 3D for my birthday right? They worked excellently for what I do, I am a gamer. Then one day the mic stops registering my voice in a low, normal tone and I literally have to yell into or stick it into my mouth for it to relay anything I say. I figured that this was an issue with the USB adapter that it came with so I simply unplugged the adapter and started using the standard Audio/Mic jacks and it worked fine again until eventually the sound went out in my left channel. I assumed that it had just blown out and I had it RMA'd (One week before the one year warranty ended, lucky me). Anyways after a couple weeks Sound Blaster sends me a brand new pair, I plug it in, re-install the drivers (just in case) and low and behold. No audio in my left channel, again with the jacks. And the Mic issue with the adapter is still present. I figured maybe it's faulty drivers with Windows, and eventually I decided to reformat and install a fresh copy of windows. Now even with a fresh OS, the results are the same. However if I take my headset to another computer, it works perfectly fine, both via the USB adapter and the standard jacks.
Note, when I use the standard jacks on my main PC, the left audio is sometimes perfect, then as audio continues, it slowly dies out and eventually audio is just lost on that side altogether, in which case I then have to unplug, and re-plug the device, which sometimes restores it.
Some thoughts that come to mind, are:
    1. My PSU not getting enough power out (which cannot be the case, I recently purchased a new PSU and have since tested it. It performs at it's proper levels.)
    2. My motherboard's USB/Audio ports are defecting, however this isn't limited to just those ports, the front panel ports yield the same results (both USB and Audio/Mic)
    3. Somehow some sort of static/electrical buildup is happening to these ports and is essentially shorting them.
Those are just my thoughts, however I figure a more specialized community like this could better help me diagnose and fix this problem. Lemme know your thoughts please. And thank you :>
Also, would a plausible fix possibly be investing in a dedicated PCI sound card? If so, would anyone have any suggestions for a decent one that would comply to a gamer?

I've got an idea. Have you tried them again with the THX ProStudio Pro USB Adapter? I had the same issue with my microphone as far as volume goes. Nobody on the Ventrilo servers I went to could understand me because I was so quiet. So, what I did was go to the support page and download the firmware for the headset adapter. Not the Beta, mind you. I tried that, thinking I already had a set of the latest firmware installed when I installed the driver pack. It yielded no better results. Try downloading the current build and see what that does for your USB adaptor.
    http://support.creative.com/scripts/....aspx?id=20167
There's the page for ya. Let me know if it works. I know mine experienced all kinds of glitches working with my Realtek HD onboard sound. But when I could get it to work, it was dull and flat: it had no vibrance. Trust me, if you can get that mic issue fixed, and if the playback components of the headset works fine on the USB adaptor, it's well worth it.

  • Sound Blaster XFI Surround - Need a mixer like Creative Surround Mixer

Hi I have the SB XFI Surround card which connects through USB, I had an Audigy which had a great piece of software called Creative Surround Mixer, through which I could easily adjust the sound levels of each speaker by dragging a point on the display and thus mark my location in relation to the speakers. This was really great and I need that software or something similar for my XFI, is there anything with the same functionality? I tried downloading and installing the Creative Surround Mixer but apparently it doesnt work with the XFI. Thanks

Meanwhile, I am working around that issue by plugging the Omni Surround into another machine (running 10.9) and using AirPlay display mirroring from my 10.10 machine towards the 10.9 machine. That way I still have full control over the sound output from the Yosemite machine. That isn't ideal but works good enough until they release an update.
Same issue here. Would be nice to have a working driver on OSX 10.10 !

  • Unable to boot to Vista with Sound Blaster XFi Fata1ity Pro Series driv

I installed Vista Home Premium x86 as a second OS on a partition in conjunction with XP Pro. When I installed the Creative Vista drivers for my Fataity Pro Series I can't boot into Vista, it keeps restarting. I can, however, boot to XP and the card still works perfectly.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

  • Wierd issue with Sound Blaster Z and Windows 8.1

I have just started having an issue with my sound card. For the past year it has been working perfectly fine with no issues. There have been no recent changes to the computer, but within the past week, if I am in the middle of a game or listening to music, the computer will once a day lock up, I then have to restart the computer. After it restarts, the right speakers, and only the right will not work, Center, Subwoofer, and Left side speakers work 5.0. I then go the Sound Blaster Z-series control panel and re-enable the surround sound. At this point the Center and Subwoofer cease to work, but the right side works perfectly fine. After a couple of resets the center and subwoofer still do not work. I then have to go to the back of the computer and change the cable for the center / subwoofer from left most to the second left most (as looking at the back of computer from the top side). It will work fine this way with all speakers working, for roughly a day then it will lock up again. I have to go through the same process, but move the cable from the second left most to the left most output for it to work again. I tried for the past two days to troubleshoot by removing all the software and creative drivers. Same issue after reinstalling with a fresh driver set. Any help, because this is completely annoying.

Considering that there is already a ca0132 driver for linux, which was made to support chromebook pixel laptop. It should not be hard for creative to make that driver compatible with discrete cards and motherboards that make use of that chip. But Creative seriously dropped the ball on users and does not care about them. I do not understand this, because all previous creative cards are supported in linux. Steam OS and steam boxes are around the corner and Creative is missing a big opportunity.

  • Issues related to Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio (PCI Express 1)

Hi, I've recently bought a SB X-Fi Xtreme Audio (PCI Express edition).
Before I address my issue, I'd like to point out that my rig is:
    Maximus Extreme (mobo)?
    Q6600 (cpu)
    ATI4870 (vid card)
    4Gigs of DDR3 (ram)
and my OS is Vista Home Edition (32 bit precision)?
And so after physically installing the hardware, I quickly installed everything there was on the CD- this included the drivers available on the CD. After this installation, I restarted then found most recent updates via online sources (creative.com). But even after all of this, I wasn't able to get my microphone to work. Now from my understanding, the jack is shared between Line-In and Microphone and I'm supposed to configure this setting. And so I tried to do that, but my only problem was that I was unable to use any of the available features. After researching for a few hours I found out that I, appearently have to uninstall everything that I had installed and then reinstall everything from online sources (from creative.com-- latest drivers for vista 32 bit). But even then, I still can't use my mic or configure the settings so that I could use microphone instead of Line-In.
Now going back to my actual question, how do I configure the settings so that I could use Microphone instead of Line-In?

ERe: Issues related to Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio (PCI Express )[ Bumping.
    Almost the same problem here.
Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio edition, Windows 7 64bit.
I downloaded the latest driver from the Creative site, installed it, update with the update manager and then i installed the console.
Issue number : I DONT have your same console. I dont have a "Mode" button, im stuck in Entertainment Mode. I cant control almost nothing and i dont have all the options u have.
Issue number 2: My mic isnt working good. It's VERY low on volume, i cant be heard without the +20db boost (the only boost option i have, i cant boost more) and even with that acti've that's not that loud.
It is still working good with my onboard realtek soundcard. I cant understand what's the problem and how to solve it.
Ah, my headset is a Creative Fatality.

  • Major Issues with Windows XP and Sound Blaster Audig

As mentioned in the post title, I'm using a Sound Blaster Audigy 4 card (recently purchased) and am having issues with Windows XP apparently because of it. When the card is physically installed, but the drivers are not, there are no problems. However, when the drivers are installed, Windows XP's "explorer.exe" crashes on boot, locking up the start menu and any other open windows. Now, I can manually end the explorer.exe application and then reboot it, and things will work... however, I cannot imagine that that is the intended functionality of this card. Additionally, I suspect the card in the failure of a game (Eve Online) but I would assume the issues are related. I've already narrowed the issue down to the Sound Blaster drivers. I've tried booting with the SB drivers but without the video card drivers, and the problem recurred. Every time I boot with the SB drivers installed, it fails. Without them, things seem to run normally. If it helps, I'm using an Intel Core 2 Duo E6400 processor, with GB of DDR800 RAM. I've installed Windows Service Pack 2 and all the other updates. The video card is a Geforce 7950 GT, with the latest NVidia Forceware (93.7) drivers. I've had this problem with both the Audigy drivers on the CD that came with the card and the newest ones downloaded from this website. My motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-965P-DS3, which includes onboard sound hardware, but I have disabled it at the BIOS level. I can provide dxdiag information or anything like that if necessary. Does anyone have any advice, suggestions, or have you encountered a similar problem?Message Edited by DerekKatz on 2-04-200603:2 AM

Thanks for the helpful reply Dan
I ran the file, CTZAPXX.exe, like suggested, and it ran without a problem. It installed the files and even required me to reboot my computer!!
However, after a computer restart, I am still in the same boat. Codecs are installed, but the location of the device is "unknown". In Device manager, there are no unknown devices; it shows the codecs in the sound tab, but no actual hardware; as if my sound card does not exist.
I use my computer for music, and my buddy needs me tomorrow night to play some music stored on my computer. I really do appreciate the help I am offered. I do not mean to sound impatient, but I really need this device fixed, or I will have to have him buy me a sound card....

  • Windows 8.1 & Sound Blaster Z First Boot Issue

I'm having a very strange issue with my Sound Blaster Z. I'm not sure if it's a hardware issue, a driver issue, a Windows 8.1 issue, or a motherboard issue.
When i boot the machine, the sound card does not get initialized. I get no sound and dolby digital live does not work. I have a Cambridge Soundworks DTT3500 system and i don't get a light at the bottom that indicates a dolby digital signal from the sound card. However, windows reports that both the sound blaster z and the audio controller are both working normally, no conflicts. There are no errors in the windows event log. If I go into the audio controller, i try to switch between no encoder and dolby digital live, and it's not fixing it.
My motherboard is an ASRock 990FX Extreme9 motherboard.
The strange part is my only remedy to get my sound card actually working is to restart windows without shutting down. This happens every single time. Has anyone else experienced or is experiencing this issue.
This is actually my second Sound Blaster Z card, i rma'd my first one. I upgraded from an Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium PCIE card.
    Thanx

I have the same issus like this guy in this thread. http://forums.creative.com/showthread.php?t=700484
My Soundblaster z is often detectect as a 2- Soundblaster z.
I heard you have to disable complete uefi boot, and disable fast boot options in your bios.

When you disable uefi boot in bios, but you installed windows with uefi. You have to install windows new.
But i still have the Problem with 2- Soundblaster Z. I have disbaled uefi and fastboot but nothing happens. Sometime it is not detected. Now i am back to my old recon3d PCIe, no Problems. Please Creative HELP, i am not the only one

  • Issue with Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit driver

,Issue with Sound Blaster Li've! 24-bit driverw Hello, I have a 2004 Dell Dimension DIM900 and a couple months ago it began making a loud crackling noise sporadically. It sounds like real ear-piercing static, like when a microphone is being plugged in, only in short random bursts at alternating pitches so I originally thought my speakers were blown. I turned them off and decided to use a headphone set only to hear the same annoying sound.
I looked in the sound settings and read that I have a Sound Blaster 24-bit internal driver in my system, assuming that information is correct.
What can I do? I did the search and read the read on those X-Fi drivers that had a similar problem, but I didn't know if that was the same as this because the thread concluded that their problem was exclusi've to systems with Nvidia dual SLI graphic configurations and X-Fi drivers. ? Any input would be appreciated, thanks!

    Hi IT5,
May I know if this Li've! 24bit came pre-installed on your Dell computer or did you purchase & install the sound card separately?

  • Microphone Issue - Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Audio C

Hey there, sorry to post but I've got a little issue which I'm sure is me being stupid but its racking my head so here it comes. I have recently started using talk programs such as vent, skype blah blah to speak to people back home and since moving abroad I have found that now I need the mic to contact these people (which it used to fine before I arri'ved on foreign soil). On clicking on volume control and advance or properties I have nothing in recording for mic and this is where im lost. If I enable the mic on any of the programs people are hearing whatever happens to be coming out of the computer speaks such as games or a movie etc. i've just tried a full removal and reinstallation of the sound drivers for the model in my comp (Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Pro Audio Card).
All my mates are saying surely you cant lose mic from the volume control but yet its gone and I have no idea how to reactivate it. People seemt o think the card is buggered but it seems fine with everything else I fire out.
Any help on how stupid I'm being would be great.
