Sound Blaster Z problem

I've had this sound blaster Z for over 6 month now and have not had any issues until 3 days ago. I shut down my computer Sunday night and at that point everything was working just fine. Monday morning when I powered up I received a windows notification saying my new hardware was ready for use. Unable to figure out what it was referring to I proceeded to open mozilla and go to cnn where I attempted to watch a video on the main page but had no audio. Nothing surprising because I often use headphones for gaming so I attempted to open the SB control panel and it finally prompted to tell me I had no device selected and offered to let me select. The only option was NVIDIA HD audio device which I can only guess is from my video adapter a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti. After much research I ended up uninstalling all sound blaster software and deleted the directories left over. Then I booted in safe mode and ran drive sweeper to remove all additional files related to SB/creative in both the c:/ and registery. Then rebooted again in safe mode and this time ran ccleaner and did basically the same exact thing. Finally I power down and physically reinstall the SB Z card and boot normally. Windows prompts it has found new hardware and getting it ready. Once done I install the latest software/driver from creative.com. After one final re-start everything appears normal again as device manager now says I have a SB Z audio device and controller, the control panel is happy and I have sound and mic is functional.....until the next morning when I turn my comp back on. I do the same steps every day and am now posting this for help, wtf is going on? I have made absolutely no changes to my computer at all, installed no new hardware at all recently but windows 7 keep changing (in device manager) mt SB Z to show it as a SB Recon 3D. Here is my custom made system;
OS: Windows 7 Home premium w/service Pack 1
Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 965 3.4GHz
Mother Board: Asus M4785TD-V EVO
Installed Memory: 16GB
System Type: 64-Bit
Video Adapter: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 650 Ti
HDD: 2 WD SATA
Any assistance would be apprecated.

Seems the card is fried itf its hot, some short circuit, just return to seller as DOA (dead on arrival) replacement.

  • Sound Blaster Audigy Problem

    Ok I am finally stumped.
    Specs
    KT800Neo

    2 x 120GB Segate HD
    AIW 9800 Pro
    Win XP Pro Sp 1
    Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum
    MSI 52x32x52 CD-RW
    TDK DVD Recorder
I have tried a million ways to get this stupid soundcard to work, and to no avail.
I downloaded the newest drivers from soundblaster.com and it says it can't even detect the audigy however it shows up in my unknown device detecter.  I tried other Audigy drivers that have been unified for 5.1 plat & audigy plat.  Same results.  I then went to my old install CD that came with the sound card and it works.  However my live drive is not being enabled for some reason.  I have tried hooking up a 5.1 Live Drive and nothing as well.
I don't have any sound drivers for anything onboard releated installed.
I tried the Kx Drivers for giggles and they installed and even got closer with my Inspire 6.1's working a bit better, however live drive still not working correctly.
My 1394 Net Adapter 1 & 2 are not loaded (drivers) ! mark by the both of them, they tell me to run the trouble shooter 2 says the device drive couldn't load due to old install being in the system, however I have removed these devices before and tried to do something.
ATM I really need to get this sound card functional so any suggestions are appreciated.
    Thanks

First time in my life a motherboard worries me before I start playing with it.  I have been waiting for my K8T Neo to arrive for two weeks and had time to read numerous reviews and forum.
I validated almost every piece of hardware I’m using, including the sound card (Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum) against the list of hardware tested in MSI’s test report.  My sound card was supposed to be supported but we all know the story…
Anyway, I was pleased when I booted for the first time my PC (after disabling the onboard sound) to succeed where many of us failed.  I even managed to install Windows XP SP1 without any trouble.  I also installed all the latest versions of the drivers, except for my Audigy, for which I installed the driver that came on the accompanying CD.  I had no trouble with the stereo sound.
Trouble came when I tested the surround sound.  I experienced the same thing as goretexpretzels: no sound from the rear channels…  I then updated with the latest version of the drivers/mixer but same crap.
I will perform some tests and try with a non-SP1 version of XP to see if it resolves the problem, but I sincerely hope that MSI will come out with a BIOS patch or a workaround before long.
I’m already starting to regret for not having stayed with Abit after all those years of reliable computing…

  • Sound Blaster Audigy Problems

Yes I just had to replace my mother board  With KT3 Ultra2 and with my soundblaster card the motherboard won't boot the d- bracket has 2 red lights on the top when looking at the manual this refers to the Ide conroller. Is there and issue with this card. Oh buy ther way I have disabled the onboard sound in the Bios
                                   Thanks

Very odd problem--sounds like a resource conflict, though--definitely.  You might have better luck moving the Audigy to another slot--just to see if this changes the resource picture somewhat.
Im assuming here that you have uninstalled all of the drivers for the Audigy, but that simply the presence of the card in the slot at boot causes a lockup.  If you find that uninstalling the drivers actually solves the problem while physically leaving the card in the slot and powered up--then I'd say you were having a software conflict somewhere, and might need to uninstall and then reinstall some drivers in a specific sequence.
But I'd try taking out all of the PCI cards you can, including the Audigy, and then I'd put the Audigy in first by itself in its normal slot and see if the same problem manifests with no other cards in the system. If it does then I'd start moving the Audigy one slot at a time until you find a slot for it which won't prevent the system from booting with it installed.  Once that's done, add in your cards one at a time and make sure you can boot with each of them so that if you have a problem again you can identify the card in your system the Audigy is conflicting with--if it's a PCI card.
Also, I take it you know not to put *anything* in the PCI slot directly adjacent to your AGP slot (but just wanted to remind you.)  Good luck!
Check my sigs here--no problems at all with either the Audigy 1 or 2, so it shouldn't be a problem for you.

I have a Sound Blaster Arena Surround usb Gaming Headset and the left speaker no longer works.
I have tried the headset on multiple computers ranging from xp to vista to 7. some have different versions of the driver. On all the left audio is silent.

The closest article I could find to this problem was here http://forums.creative.com/t5/Headphones-Headsets/Sound-Blaster-Arena-problem/m-p/558966#M2001. So it appears I must wait for an admin to help.

  • Vista drivers problems Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Noteb

First thing to do: haveyour systemchecked out, if windows says the hardware is failing there may really be something wrong with it.
If the SB card works in an XP machine there may be a problem in the the PCI slot or controller on the motherboard, either way have a tech shop look at it. If thehardware allchecks out: before putting the card back in completely delete the old driver and software, download the new one without installing it, then put the card in and windows should try to auto-install with the new driver.P.S. the platinum version is the one with thecontrol panel that slots into a dri've bay, if you have one of those, it's a platinum, if not, it's a regulHi all, how are you
I have a Sony VAIO VGN-SZ430N/B notebook, and I'm trying to install Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook on it (Unfortunately, the notebook came with windows vista business from factory).
This notebook has a Texas Instruments PCMCIA controller.
Under "Device Manager" the PCMCIA controller is described as "Texas
Instruments PCI-8x2/7x2/6x2 CardBus Controller", but on Sony's
webpage the driver that seems to be related to it is "Texas
Instruments PCI74 Integrated FlashMedia Controller Driver".
It is kind of all in one solution from Texas Instruments (PCMCIA
controller, Memory Card reader, and Firewire controller).
Please, may someone help me to answer the questions bellow
1)Are there any kind of compatibility problem between this notebook PCMCIA controller (described above), and Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Notebook
2)I've already brought this notebook to Sony's support service, so they could verify if there is any kind of hardware problem with the notebook. Sony's technician wasn't able to find any hardware problems on it, but I'm experiencing the problem described below:
2.)Every time that I plug this sound card on my notebook, and I try to install Creative's latest windows Vista drivers(Creative Sound Blaster Audigy series Vista Driver 2.2.0002), thus It leads me to a Blue Screen during the driver installation process. Please, Does somebody know what could be this problem root causeIt is very weird, even if i try to install this sound card on clean windows vista install, then it leads me to blue screen. Besides, I have another PCMCIA card from another manufacturer, and I was able to install its windows vista drivers with no problem.(It sounds that Creative labs' vista drivers is the problem root cause as I've tested this sound card on a different notebook with windows xp and It worked fine).
3)Does anyone know if creative is planning to release a windows vista driver that allows the users to use all of this sound card featuresSo far the latest driver available doesn't support even DVD-Audio. Have creative labs discontinued this product
I appreciate any help you can give me,
    thanks in advance,
    Rogerr ZS.

The best advice I can give is to fully remove ALL Creative software. We've compiled a list of entries that will cause problems here. It's very important before installing newer files.http://nomoregoatsoup.wordpress.com/...tall-problems/Then install some better drivers and see if that cures your issues. The 2.2.0002 drivers are really, really awful, 99% of people I've spoken to had problems with them. I personally like 2.5.0002 Hope this helps.

  • "No Sound Blaster card detected.." and other driver problem SOLUTION

Hi. I promised to myself that I wont give up and I looked for a solution to all SB Li've! 5. OEM (0220 and others) problem not detecting the card by the new drivers ! AND HERE IT IS !! I tested it and works almost PERFECTLY !!! Also for peaple who HAVE the original drivers but have problem with EAX in such games like GTA San Andreas THIS IS THE SOLUTION FOR YOU !! I hope creative doesn't mind me posting this:http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/Enter here and download the drivers !! TRY IT !! Any questions please write ! Sory but i think this is important inough to start a new topic.. Hell yeah now I can play San Andreas even when it's raining (in game ofkozz :P) ... Oh and PS. For Win XP users read this first : http://kxproject.lugosoft.com/xp.php?language=en I used the second method (on the bottom of the page) Renaming the files and installing normally. You will be asked to insert the winXP CD couse it wont be able to find some files but you can just SEARCH for them on the system and you can find them (In c:\windows\system32 and system32\drivers). Then after reboot you go to Device Manager and update drivers for Sound Blaster Li've Series (or Multimedia audio device) mark "Don't look for drivers.." And choose KX from the list. Thats all I thinkPs 2 - set the mixer for your card couse basically it's set for 5. dolby surround. If you have 2 Speakers or headphones do this: run the KX mixer (tray) and click Speaker setting (the icon with "?") set it to 2. and in Surround set COPY. Then mark the "Use subwoofer output" and "Use bass redirection". Everything should work well. There I think I helped :PMessage Edited by Cubix on 07-09-2005 08:26 PM

Gee, I think it's catching on. I was VERY dissapointed when I wasted my money on the SB Li've! 24bit PCI. That card apparently isn't a Li've! card, it's got a different chipset. It performs horribly with games and there are no other drivers to use for it. Not even the Audigy 2 hack and the kX audo project will work with it. This is like the **bleep** child of all Sound Blasters. No support, no reasonable performance, and horrible drivers. I just joined this forum today and this is the 5th topic related to SB Li've! 24 bit issues that I've seen yet. And what does creative take into initiati've about it's Nothing. They ignore us and expect us to pay 20+ dollars US on an Audigy 2 ZS.Message Edited by BoRaiChu on -03-2005 07:33 PM

Here's a link on how to use Add/Remove software in Control Panel. After removing the software, remove the soundcard from the computer and reboot. If that boot has no problems, then put the soundcard back in the same slot or a different slot and reinstall.

You don't say what drivers your using.
2 threads to look at are http://forums.creative.com/creativel...ssage.id=25677 for drivers, and http://forums.creative.com/creativel...scending&page= for something that might help. You have a SB0228 according to that prefix.
I think to loose that message, you may have to either edit the registry of use something like driver cleaner http://www.drivercleaner.net/

  • Problems with Sound Blaster PCI 128 at Wi

    Hello,
I've a Sound Blaster PCI 28 Sound Card from Creative. I never had any problems with it when I was using it at WinME. But now I had to install WinXP Prof (incl. SP + SP2) for using some new programs and the soundcard doesn't work at all there.
The card is shown at the device manager at "Other/Unkown devices" as "Audio Controller for Multimedia". I downloaded some drivers from the archi've of the creative homepage witch were said to be for this card used at WinXp. Here are the links for this drivers:
    For example:
    http://de.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download2.asp?MainCategory=&Product=864&dlcentric= 843&Product_Name=PCI+28&OSName=Windows+XP
    http://de.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download2.asp?MainCategory=&Product=864&dlcentric= 255&Product_Name=PCI+28&OSName=Windows+XP
    http://de.europe.creative.com/support/downloads/download2.asp?MainCategory=&Product=864&dlcentric= 976&Product_Name=PCI+28&OSName=Windows+XP
But none of this drivers can be installed. When I start the installation after some time of loading there appears an alert with says:
"Setup wasn't able to find a Sound Blaster Audiocard on your system. Please make sure that your Soundblaster hardware is installed correctly before starting the setup. Setup will finish/exit now."
Does anyone know how to get this card running on WinXp?
Does anyone know some alterati've drivers witch could be suitable for this card and WinXP?
    Thx for help!

Go back to the download link and download the Waveset file. After which, follow the steps from this Knowledgebase article SID930 to install the waveset.

  • Sound Blaster ZxR latency problems

I bought SB ZxR last week and I'm using it for gaming, recording and just rehearsing guitar playing (my preamp is connected to sound card AUX in). I'm having trouble getting the sound in sync with my playing. In fact it's pretty much impossible to play properly, because the sound is always some 20-30ms late. I understand that when I output to optical output, then there might be some delay, but the delay is there also when outputting to analog outputs (though not so bad, but makes playing impossible still). I've tried all the settings in ZxR control panel and I haven't found working combination. Seems like the card is doing some processing to incoming signal in all occasions. I'm really disappointed, since the sound quality is otherwise excellent. I haven't had this kind of problems with my previous sound cards (Terratec 6fire, X-fi Elite pro, Auzentech Prelude). Prelude created latency when enabling DD live or DTS encoding, but disabling those made latency almost zero.
Has anyone tried playing any instrument live with this card and maybe found a solution for these latency problems?

    Incorrect in my experience.
I've just installed a Sound Blaster Zx - purchased because it is supposed to have near zip latency.
and it was so - with 92000 sample rate and 192 samples! Latency was near zero.
Before it was near 10-20 milliseconds with my old SB Fx 1270 THX
My keyboard is so fast it's weird getting used to it.
    Notes:
    1. select the Sound Blaster SBZ series ASIO, NOT the "Creative ASIO".
    2. Be sure to remove all old Creative software before installing. I tried it without doing this cleaning, and got odd silences in my browsers at random-seeming times. It seems to work better now.
    3. Measuring tool: DPC latency checker V 1.2.0
(CEntrance latency test did not work)
    Results: Average latency 26 microseconds,
peak latency 1120 microseconds when starting up Kontackt 5 (note: Micro, not Milli-seconds)
I'll let you know here if I have problems -
