Sound blip after fade

After assembling my movie, I added an audio track. I only wanted the audio to play over the title, so I applied a fade.
Playback in imovie is fine, but when exported there is a small blip of sound (from the track I added) at the end of the fade.
I've tried reimporting the audio, tried another audio track, tried trimming the audio 1 frame before the end of the fade, tried moving the fade along the timeline a little, nothing seems to work. I've made 3 or 4 movies with IM6 now and haven't had this problem, can anyone tell me what is going on and what I need to do to solve or work around the issue.

Good morning, Winston,
Before we get started with this procedure, I am going to make a few assumptions.
1. You really, really, really want to get rid of this blip!
2. You have cut the song with the “Split Audio Track at Playhead” option in the Edit Menu. (Command + T)
3. That you imported the song from iTunes.
If all of this is correct, we will proceed. Your “Blip” problem is not new and has been discussed several times in the Discussions. I believe that it comes from the cutting we do to the audio with the Split Command. You don’t need the extra length and it could interfere with other songs you want to add later, so whack it off. This is a “Last Ditch Effort” to fix this problem. I am going to show you how to edit the length of the song in iTunes.
You will want to print out this discussion and set aside 30 to 45 minutes to do this edit for the first time. Also, you might want a pen and paper to do calculations.
Start iMovie and listen to the song to determine exactly where you want it to start and end while noting how long the clip is.
Now start iTunes and let’s set things up to do the edit. First select Library from the Source column. Look at the list of songs and see if “Kind” is showing. If not, go to Edit>View Options, select Kind and close the window.
Find your song in the Library and look under Kind to see what kind of song file it is. It should be an AAC, AIFF or MPEG. Write it down. Hopefully it will be an AIFF. To do this edit, we will have to concert the song to another type, so go to iTunes>Preferences>Advanced>Importing>Import Using and set the Import Using to “MP3 Encoder” if the song was an AIFF, just make it different from what the song is now. Set “Setting:” to Higher Quality (192 kbps) for the MP3 Encoder and close Preferences. OK, the easy part is done!
Get your pen and paper ready! Select you song, start it playing and hit the Pause Button. At the top of the iTunes window you will want to display the Time Display. If the Spectrum Animation is showing, change it by clicking on the tiny button on the left hand side of Display Window. At the left end of the Time Display is the Elapse Time. This is where you will get your information for the edit.
Take the song back to the beginning and start it playing, when it get to the exact point where you want it to start in iMovie, hit the spacebar to pause the song. Write down Start: and the elapse time. Hit the spacebar again to start the song playing. When you get to the point where you want to song to stop, hit the spacebar again. Write down End: and the elapse time. You now have the information to do the edit.
With the song selected, go to File>Get Info>Options. In the middle of the window you will see “Start Time” and “Stop Time” windows. Click on the little boxes to the left of each setting to put a check mark there and then enter the times in the windows to the right. Now, click the box next to “Remember Playback Position”. Click OK.
Play the song several times to make sure that iTunes has accepted your settings. It should be playing just the portion you want in iMovie. If it has not, repeat the procedure from the last paragraph until it does.
Once your setting are playing correctly for the song, pause it with the spacebar, make sure that it is selected and go to Advanced (on the Command Line at the top of your screen) > Convert to MP3 (or AIFF if that is want you set in the Preference before). iTunes will now make another song with the same name, but a different “Kind” and a new length. When it is done, click once on the Name of the song, pause and then click again. Now edit the name to something you will recognize. You are done with iTunes.
Go back to iMovie, delete the “El Blippo Music” and import the new song from the Audio window. Position the song where you want it, Control Click on the song and select “Show Clip Volume Levels, make your fade adjustments and you should be done. Play it just to mke sure!
