Sound but only a green screen on videos

When going on to You Tube or even seeing videos posted on other sites I will get sound but only a green screen.
What do I need to do to get the picture back?
I have Windows 8.1

Hi,
Windows 8.1 does not come with a proper flash player (and pdf reader). Perform a clean install Flash Player may help:

  • Can hear the sound but only seeing white screen!!

I've created a movie using Final Cut Pro,
and I didn't have a problem watching it in QT in my school computer lab(G5)
But when I tried to open the file from my powerbook,
I can only hear the sound but just white blank page.
This is my thesis project that I need to present it in a few days,
I have to have to play it using my powerbook.
    I've tried everything I could,
I downloaded possible components, DIVX, Xvid, CEI's EVO, Perian, etc.,
I've also purchased Quicktime Pro, hoping that would solve the problem,
    but no it didn't.
Please help, if anyone knows the answer.

No doubt you exported it from FCP using a video codec only available to it. Very common error.
You'll need to export the file again from FCP using a more common codec like H.264.

  • Help with green screen on videos

There must be some bug in the HP laptops that causes so many complaints about the green screen. I had to reinstall my system because there was some problem that my anti virus and malwarebytes couldn't fix. So, low and behold the old green screen on videos reappeared. I tried a former solution given to me by one of HP techs on here. I went to tools, internet options, advanced and then clicked on Use software rendering instead of GPU rendering. Wasn't working. So I download HP Support assistant. In the search I put Green screen on videos. The only thing that came up was to fix a video card. I don't have a video card. I looked at the suggestion on the forum to update Flash player. I got the message that Flash  player is installed with 8.1 so not install for it.  I realize a great deal of problems are caused by Microsoft negligent creation of 8.1 but hopefully the HP techs can do a better job of addressing this. BTW don'l look forward to updating to Windows 10 if you are paying for an extended warrenty. Microsoft say's if you upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 8 or 8.1, you warrenty is invalidated.

  • Green screen for videos and movies

i upgraded all the software for itunes and quicktime. using another post for 'green screen for video previews', i modified some settings in quicktime and one of them now has strips of static across the green. quite frustrating...

I could be off the mark, but you may need to install the version of iTunes here: iTunes for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards).
And then repair/reinstall QuickTime 7.7.6 for Windows.
If that works for you then the next time Apple Software Update or iTunes tells you there is a new version revisit the first link. It should be updated with a new "for older video cards" version that will work with QuickTime.

  • GREEN SCREEN WITH VIDEOS ON IE AND MOZILLA

I have a Desktop HP with Windows 7 Ultimate, SP1, 64 bits with an ATI Radeon 4500, catalyst 13.1.
Java (8.0.250) and Flash Player (15.0.0.189) with automatic update option.
Videos on IE11 and Firefox 30.0 give me an green screen image with sound.
I have reinstalled the all thing, partially, fully, and no result at all!
There is no option for disabling hardware acceleration, and I think it would be, if possible, a poor solution.
Yes, I have executed the very celebrated solution uninstalling the 2 windows updates (KB2735855 and KB2750841) and the blindness remains.
Hope the industry publicize a fix for this very soon; it is a disturbing problem at several levels and, once again, I am considering seriously passing all my professional profile for a Linux environment.

I don't know how old the videos or the converter is, however a few years ago and that maybe generous both Microsoft and Apple had an mp4 format and they were not compatible with each other. Eventually Apply won because of the h.264 codec. It was better quality and compressed better.
If it plays in other programs, then the codec has to be there in one form or another. It could be that quicktime uses it internal codecs and photoshop is looking for those installed on your computer. (guessing)
There use to be a small program that would read a video file and tell you what the codec is. I don't recall the name at the moment but a quick search on download.com by cnet should provide a link if it is still available and for your current computer. (whether it has been updated or not)
On the same site, you can search for codecs. Be wary installing them, not all are up to par. There are some people who have other intentions for the codecs than what they were written for. Some require that the codecs be used for personal use only unless you pay them a fee which could be a high amount in some cases.
Use google and bing to search the author to see if there are any complaints.
However if you are able to convert them to another format, then go ahead as long as it works and you don't have to deal with con-artists and high fees.
That said, it doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen I have read complaints about it.

  • The Green Screen and Video Problems

    Hello,
I've read through the issues and answers on this topic but some of the things are working and some not.  For isntance, I was able to resolve one of my issues with some other fixes I had found through general online forums for the "green" screen which plays with only audio.  It seems to be working for me on you tube but not on Facebook anymore alhtough Facebook videos worked the first time around when I rebooted.
What I did was go into my internet options and under accelerated graphics I ticked use software rendering instead of...
and under the security tab I ticked enable 64 bit processes in enhanced protected...  Should the Enhanced protected mode be enabled as well then?  Should I tick that option.
I also treid to do what the answers recommended...such as right clicking on the video in Facebook when it is playing and while I do get a pop up I get settings options or global settings and adobe flash player info...clicking on settings gives me options but none for the "display", only for my microphone, camera and storage.  If I click on global settings, it takes me to flash player help.  And last option I get my version of Adobe info, which is version 13.00.214.  So no option to untick disable accelerated graphics cause I think I've done this in control panel already.
But now why it is working with youtube and not with Facebook videos  I also tried to play some home videos like wmv files and other video files in my windows media flash player and there I get a black screen but still audio plays.
My computer is an HP Pavillion Notebook PC and it came with Windows 8.1 already installed.  My Graphics Display adapter is an AMD Radeon R5 Graphics Card.
So what the heck do I do now.  Should I install newer Adode Player?  Even when unticking the accelerated graphis option, this is really not a solution to the deeper problem and issue, because then it slows down your graphics?
My computer is not even a week old and I hate having to always download fixes and constant updates and spend hours researching and trying to fix a problem that really should not occur to begin with.  Why are there so many glitches with Windows?  Is this a problem related with windows updates as well.  Active X controls?  Compatibility isuses with 64 bit processes.  Should I use Firefox.  I did that with my old HP which finally kicked the bucket and that is why I had to buy a new one.  I had to replace my battery before even a year and my warranty battery did not last that long either and then the thing finally overheated and died.  But I had lots of similar things happen before with last HP laptop so is it Windows or is it HP or is it browsers, players?
I am sorry if I am unloading on you...I don't mean too but it is just soooo frustrating as a consumer to have to always go through these kinds of things.  I use my laptop for self employment so please help!!!!!
Thanks for letting me vent..  I would appreciate your help, thank you.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I am sorry you have experience any issues.  I have looked into your issue with the Video issues.
    Have you uninstalled Internet Explorer?
    Have you tried Google Chrome?
It already includes Adobe® Flash® Player built-in. Google Chrome will automatically update when new versions of Flash Player are available. Adobe are on version 15. Here is a spot to update. This does have a link to Google Chrome as well.
Here is a link to common Flashplayer issues.
I would try a system restore as this would undo any changes that might have happened with a Microsoft update. Sometimes they have not finished or been installed on the Notebook.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Getting green screen/no video with ATV- Onkyo AVR

Problem:  When I turn on AppleTV, I get a solid green screen on my television display. Apparently it is only a problem with the video signal, as the audio still works.
I have just started experiencing this problem.  For the past 2 years, it has worked fine.  I turned on ATV to listen to music the other day and there was the green screen.  I changed nothing prior to this.
    Setup:
ATV Gen 3   -->   AVR Onkyo TX-NR609  -->   LG LED LCD Television (47”)
Troubleshooting shows that the ATV works fine when plugged directly into the LG TV HDMI port, so I’m assuming that rules out the ATV box itself and the HDMI cable.  Also, the HDMI cable works fine when used with another component (DVD player).
When the green screen is displayed, I can play a YouTube video from my iphone via Airplay and hear the audio but not see the video.
DirectTV and DVD player work fine through the AVR and TV.
When ATV is initially turned on, the Apple logo is displayed for a few moments, then disappears and the green screen appears.
I have tried resetting ATV.  I have turned off entire system and turned it back on.  I have the latest firmware on the LG TV.
Any idea what I can do to fix this?   Thanks.

    Change the Apple TV resolution:
Press and hold the Menu and Up button on your Apple Remote for six seconds.
The Apple TV will automatically cycle to the next resolution at approximately 20 second intervals.
Press Play on the Apple Remote to keep the current resolution or Select to manually cycle to the next resolution.
Try a different HDMI port on the receiver, if this has not been tried already.
Contact Onkyo for assistance, their may be a firmware update for the receiver.  Although this would not explain why it worked previously and now is not working properly.
Also, see if there is a way to reset the receiver to a factory "out of the box" state to clear up any settings issues on the receiver that may be causing the issue.
